Connected is painfully emotional.  This gripping tale had me sobbing as my heart was breaking.  It takes an enormous amount of talent to evoke emotions in readers.  Kim made me feel more emotions than any other author ever has.  I cried so hard that I went through half a box of tissues.  It was soo worth it to see an amazing love story unfold.  I was connected to the characters in this story and wanted more than anything for them to get their happily ever after.

Dahlia is destroyed when Ben is taken from her in a ruthless act of violence.  She becomes severely depressed and does not leave the house for more then a few minutes for almost two years.  She can’t sleep.  She can’t eat.  She is pale and frail and a shadow of what she once was.  If it was not for Ben’s mother Grace, his best friend Caleb, and Aerie, Dahlia may have just let herself die.  She felt like she had nothing to live for.  Her parents died in a plane crash and her closest relatives had all passed away.  She was truly alone.  She had the most passionate night with Ben before he was killed and she clings to that memory and to the bracelet he gave her with the promise that he would love her forever no matter what.

Thank goodness for Aerie.  Aerie finally pushes and prods and gets Dahlia to pick up her bootstraps and start to move on.  Aerie convinces Dahlia that here life is not over.  Aerie is so excited when Dahlia agrees to do an interview and photo shoot of River Wilde.  River is Dahlia’s one and only crush from college.  River is about to be a big time rockstar and Dahlia is convinced that he will not even remember who she is.  She is shocked to find that he does remember who she is and that he felt the connection too.  The connection that she felt that night in college where he kissed her.  She never felt anything like that before in her entire life.

“But it wasn’t just a kiss.  It was so much more.  When our tongues met it felt like our souls connected with each other.”

An awe-inspiring love story begins as River and Dahlia fall madly in love with one another. They have a love that I envy.  The love that one can only hope to find once in a lifetime. They have the kind of love that gives me hope.  I fall hopelessly in love with River and my heart is filled with warmth and happiness because of the undying love that he has for Dahlia.  He loves her so much that you can feel it in your soul.

As I continue to watch her with amazement and wonder, I no longer simply see rain falling from the sky.  In my mind the drops have become the tiny wishing wells she once described to me and they are gathering all around her.  I have this overwhelming urge to grant her every wish.”

Of course you wait for the bottom to fall out and eventually it does.  All I can say is thank goodness that the sequel to this book Torn is out already or I would have went crazy.  I needed for River and Dahlia to have their happily ever after.

In the sex department this book is scorching.  River and Dahlia have an insatiable appetites for each other.  He can never get enough and she is right there with him.  You may want to walk into another room when you get to the good stuff because your face will be flushed and your girl parts will be looking for some relief.

Kim had me on an emotional roller coaster unlike anyone that I have been on before. She made me want to find the connection that Dahlia and River had for myself.

TORN (Connections #2) - Cover

e90f2-synopsis

Rock star River Wilde brought Dahlia London back from the brink of hopelessness with his unwavering love and devotion. But their entangled history is about to test the strength of their relationship…

Dahlia was certain she had found true love and met her ‘Once in a Lifetime’ when she reconnected with River. But Dahlia’s world comes crashing down when someone from her past resurfaces, and all of River’s carefully hidden secrets are exposed.

River wants to show Dahlia that life isn’t about waiting for the storm to pass—it’s about dancing in the rain. But how many times can one broken heart be mended?  Will River and Dahlia be able to stay together or will they be torn apart?

TORN 66e57f-reviewbigstock_Five_stars_Mesh_13933472What would you do if suddenly the man that you thought was dead shows up on your doorstep?  It had been three years since Ben died.  It took Dahlia almost two years just to leave the house after she lost him.  He was her anchor and she felt like she had been washed out to sea without him.  How could he possibly be alive?

Holy hell Kim Karr! I thought Connected was an emotional roller coaster.  It looks like a ride on the Ferris Wheel compared to the roller coaster ride that Dahlia ends up on because of Ben’s reappearance.  She thought that River is the one she is supposed to be with but what is she supposed to do.

“When I come back up I make my way to the sand and just lay there.  The beach is very quiet.  Birds chirp peacefully and they soar overhead.  I close my eyes willing myself to stop crying.  I can’t even figure out who I am crying for – Ben, River, myself?

There are so many secrets that are revealed in Torn that you keep thinking the bottom is going to fall out. The way that River, Dahlia, and Ben treat each other has you on pins and needles wondering what is going to happen next.  Then throw Grace into the mix and everything starts crumbling like a sand castle being washed away.  Dahlia’s got no one but herself to keep her grounded and she is determined to never again fall into a depression like she did when she lost Ben.

Reading Ben’s journal about did me in.  I am angry at him for his actions but I also feel so sorry for him.  Kim, I really hope you write Ben’s story sometime soon because I believe he deserves one.  Deep down he is a good guy who made some really bad choices.

“I’ll keep trying.  I’ve needed her since the day I left.  I wished I’d have told her that.  I actually wish I had taken her with me.”

Kim writes a very realistic tale about how much your life can change in the blink of an eye.  I absolutely loved Connected and Torn.  They will be added to my best of 2014.

If you like love stories that will stay with you, and remind of what life is like when you have met your soulmate then you will love Torn.

kim karr

Kim Karr lives in Florida with her husband and four kids. She’s always had a love for reading books and writing. Being an English major in college, she wanted to teach at the college level but that was not to be. She went on to receive an MBA and became a project manager until quitting to raise her family. Kim currently works part-time with her husband and recently decided to embrace one of her biggest passions–writing.

Kim wears a lot of hats! Writer, book-lover, wife, soccer-mom, taxi driver, and the all around go-to person of her family. However, she always finds time to read. One of her favorite family outings was taking her kids when they were little to the bookstore or the library. Today, Kim’s oldest child is seventeen and no longer goes with her on these, now rare and infrequent, outings. She finds that she doesn’t need to go on them anymore because she has the greatest device ever invented–a Kindle.

Kim likes to believe in soul mates, kindred spirits, true friends, and Happily-Ever-Afters. She loves to drink champagne, listen to music, and hopes to always stay young at heart.
