If I Were You:
When Sara McMillan finds a stack of journals in a storage unit, she’s shocked and enthralled by the erotic life the writer led. Unable to stop reading, she vicariously lives out dark fantasies through Rebecca, the writer–until the terrifying final entry.
Certain something sinister has happened, Sara sets out to discover the facts, immersing herself in Rebecca’s life. Soon she’s working at the art gallery Rebecca worked at and meeting Rebecca’s friends. Finding herself drawn to two dangerously sexy men, the manager of the gallery and a famed artist, Sara realizes she’s going down the same path Rebecca took. But with the promise of her dark needs being met by a man with confident good looks and a desire for control, she’s not sure anything else matters. Just the burn for more.

It all started with a journal. For Sara McMillan, finding journals belonging to the unknown Rebecca, opens up a whole new world. And once she starts down the path she’s discovered, there is no going back.
In ‘If I Were You,’the first book in the ‘Inside Out’ trilogy by Lisa Renee Jones, we meet Sara, a quiet school teacher that stumbles upon a bunch of journals that are being auctioned off with other items in a storage space belonging to a woman named Rebecca. The more that Sara reads of the journals, the more concerned she becomes with who Rebecca is, and what has happened to her. Determined to find answers, she sets out to retrace the steps that will lead her to Rebecca, and meets two men, Chris Merritt and Mark Compton, both strong and enigmatic men with ties to the missing woman. Exactly how they fit into Rebecca’s life, and, more importantly, her disappearance, is the question that Sara must unravel, as she finds herself becoming more deeply involved with both Chris and Mark.
I really enjoyed ‘If I Were You.’ I find that Lisa Renee Jones has done a great job weaving together a story that keeps the reader guessing as to what will come next. There are many secrets that are revealed, bit by bit, and they do not involve only Rebecca. Mark, Chris, and even Sara herself have hidden areas of their pasts, and finding out what makes each of these characters tick is extremely enjoyable. I look forward to reading Books 2 and 3 of this trilogy, ‘Being Me,’ and ‘Revealing Us,’ to find out how the rest of the story unfolds.
Being Me:
Sara McMillan is still searching for Rebecca, the mysterious woman whose dark, erotic journal entries both enthralled and frightened her. Tormented by a strong desire to indulge the demands of her new boss while also drawn deeper into her passionate bond with the troubled artist, Chris Merit, Sara must face a past as deeply haunting as Rebecca’s written words. In one man’s arms, Sara will find the safe haven to reveal her most intimate secrets and explore her darkest fantasies. But is safety just an illusion, when the truth about Rebecca has yet to be discovered?

‘Being Me’ picks up immediately where ‘If I Were You’ left off. Sara, having taken Rebecca’s place as an employee at Mark Compton’s art gallery, is still anxious to find out where Rebecca has run off to. She has only Rebecca’s journals, and the details given by Mark and Chris Merritt, the two men that seem to know the most about Rebecca. Chris is also Sara’s lover, and both he and Mark have many dark secrets of their own, as well as a lot of animosity between them.
I felt like ‘If I Were You’ was a good story, and did a fantastic job of introducing us to the story and the characters. ‘Being Me’ is just as good, and the chemistry between Chris and Sara just keeps growing. The scenes between the two of them were hot! Chris is a VERY alpha man, and Sara is a woman who has been under the thumb of domineering men before, and who has vowed never to be owned by another man again. You can imagine that the sparks fly as they navigate their developing relationship.
Sexy stuff aside, Mark Compton is one hunk of hot alpha male himself. Answers to exactly how he fits into the whole story of Rebecca’s journals and her disappearance are revealed in this story, and, boy, will they leave you reeling. Let me just say that the action does not let up in this book.
I very much enjoyed this second installment in the ‘Inside Out’ series, and cannot wait to read ‘Revealing Us’ to find out how everything comes together.
Rebecca’s Journal—A Novella:
Kept under lock and key, discovered by chance, dangerous new secrets and scintillating adventures lie within Rebecca’s private diaries—searing scenes from a passionate journey inside a world where pain is pleasure, pleasure is pain, and where every limit she once had is no more.
The Master Undone—A Novella:
In her private journals, Rebecca laid bare her soul, revealing her obsession for the one man whose erotic demands captivated her imagination—and enslaved her forever. Now, with Rebecca no longer in his life, her former Master is lost—questioning everything he thought he knew about himself, and the control he holds in such high regard. One woman will reach out to heal him and then turn away, leaving him haunted. She is nothing he thought he wanted, and somehow everything he needs. He tells himself to forget her, but he cannot escape his desire for her. He has to have more…
You’ve discovered Rebecca’s secrets. You’ve discovered Sara’s secrets. Now Sara will discover “his” deepest, darkest secrets…but will those secrets bind them together–or tear them apart?
Tracey’s Review
So, we’ve finally discovered Rebecca’s secrets and Sara’s secrets, and found out the role that Mark Compton played in Rebecca’s life and disappearance. Phew! ‘Revealing Us,’ the third and final book in the ‘Inside Out’ trilogy, picks up right after all the action in ‘Being Me’ and continues with the story of Sara and Chris.
Having found out the mystery behind Rebecca’s disappearance, Chris and Sara leave San Francisco for Paris, the place that holds the key to all of the darkness that Chris continues to hide. But he has given Sara an ultimatum, ‘No in between,’ and so they are both committed to laying everything out in the open, even though they are not sure that their love will survive.
I just absolutely love Chris Merritt. He is that perfect combination of sexy alpha male and tender and considerate lover. You know that he’s hiding some heavy stuff, but you can’t help but pull for him and Sara to wade through his past and come out together on the other side. And finally, FINALLY, we get all of our answers here that have been playing out since the very first book. Except…yes, another cliffhanger, but not for Chris and Sara, thank goodness.
I absolutely enjoyed this whole series. Lisa Renee Jones has done an excellent job of laying everything out in such a way that I could not wait for each book so that I could pick up and find out what happened next. The epilogue in ‘Revealing Us’ does lead into a continuation of one of the sub-stories that ran throughout these three books, and I will definitely be ready for that story when it comes out. A great ending to a really good series, ‘Revealing Us’ gets five stars from me.
