My Hunger Synopsis:
From New York Times bestselling author Lisa Renee Jones, an Inside Out series e-short told from Mark’s point of view, as he battles his all-consuming desire for Crystal.
Devastated by Rebecca’s death, Mark is facing the chaos of the press and the police investigation alone, his reputation, his business, and even his freedom under threat. When a family emergency sends him back east to New York, he puts Crystal—who’s as capable as she is challenging—in charge of his San Francisco art gallery. A Master, all about control, right now he feels that he has none. With his secret sex club and his relationships of the past in the spotlight, Mark finds sanctuary in the one place he promised he would never be again—but cannot seem to resist. Crystal’s arms.

Tracey’s Review
With the recent revelation of Rebecca’s death, Mark Compton finds himself lost. He’s been the one in control since he left his family in New York for his own life as the owner of Allure in San Francisco. Dealing with the loss of Rebecca, and his belief that he is in part responsible, along with his mother’s illness, has left him adrift. He is used to being the master, the one to whom others submit. Meeting Crystal Smith, his mother’s second-in-command at Riptide, has shaken him, too. Accustomed to calling the shots, in the business world and in the bedroom, he finds himself unable to stay away from Crystal, no matter how many times he tells himself otherwise. For her part, Crystal is strong and independent, drawn to the darkness and need she sees in Mark, but she is no man’s sub, and is unwilling to submit to him.
‘My Hunger’ picks up directly following ‘The Master Undone.’ A confession has been made and recanted in Rebecca’s death, and now all eyes are on Mark. Between his own troubles and dealing with his mother’s cancer, he has had to rely on Crystal more and more. Crystal makes him question everything about the life he’s leading when he’s with her, but there seems to be things that she is keeping hidden about her past, as well.
I was not sure how reading about a new relationship for Mark would be after finding out that he was the Master to Rebecca’s sub and seeing how heartbroken he was after finding out about her death. But, I have to say, seeing him have to deal with an equal in Crystal and lose control is really very refreshing. He has been such the ultimate alpha male throughout the ‘Inside Out’ series that it almost makes him seem more human. There are still things from his past yet to be revealed, I’m guessing, so I’m really interested to read ‘I Belong To You,’ which is the last novella in Mark’s POV, and ‘No In Between,’ the next full-length book in the series. As with all of Lisa Renee Jones’ books, this was definitely a 5-star read for me.
