ONE – Nina’s POV

“Huge disappointment, Ms. Weaver.” His cold glare sent a snowstorm wiping away the bonfire in my belly. “I’m done playing games, so cut the bullshit. Time to begin the day.” His voice gave no room for interpretation. A cold draft shot down my back.

My brief reprieve from debts and horrible Hawks was over. I’d been shown something I desperately wanted, but denied it because I failed to please him.

“You could teach me…show me how…” I couldn’t make eye contact with him. Mortification painted my cheeks for both admitting I was clueless and asking a monster to coach me.

Jethro laughed. “You think that will save you from what’s coming? Was that your little plan? To make me fuck you in the hopes I might feel something for you?”

TWO – Jethro’s POV

 

I stood up slowly, clicking my tongue. “Ah, ah, ah, Ms. Weaver. Don’t take that tone with me. You’re the failure. You’re the prisoner. You take what I give you. You do not assume to have any say or authority. That includes listening to everything I deem important to tell you.” Ghosting to a stop in front of her, I murmured, “Is that quite understood?”

I flexed my muscles, welcoming back the soothing chillness of control. I hadn’t liked stepping outside my confines of civility. Things got messy when silence was disrupted. Things got rushed when tempers rose and curses flowed.

And I didn’t want to rush her undoing. I wanted to savour it. Devour it.

Michel’s Review

This is one of the most difficult reviews I have attempted to write. For one thing, Indebted #1 is outside of my normal reading genre. I am more prone to read contemporary romance, new adult romance, second chance romance, and romantic suspense. I like the happily ever after, even if it takes more than one book to accomplish it. I like the building of the romance, the sexual tension, and the journey to happily ever after. Indebted #1 is not that type of book. It is a DARK EROTIC THRILLER that ends on a cliffhanger that leaves the reader feeling petrified. As I finished this book I was left with a dreaded anxiety for the next book. I cannot even begin to theorize on how this series is going to play out. It is unpredictable and I am absolutely positive that this first book in the series has just slightly tipped the iceburg.

With that being said, I do want to issue some warnings to new readers. This book may touch on some of your hardcore limits. There is mental abuse, physical abuse, sexual abuse, implications of gang rape, and implications of murder. All of these situations are somewhat graphic. The way Pepper Winters delivers these elements in the story are mostly through the characters POV’s and manipulations. They are integral to the story.

The Families

 The Hawks are one of the most influential families in England. Their influence has a strong reach internationally. They are the world’s leading diamond dealers. They are also the leaders of one of the most powerful motorcycle clubs in the world. They are powerful, ruthless, violent, and unyielding. They will come out on top at all costs.

The Weavers are world renowned for their influence in the fashion industry. They have clothed royalty. They are masters at their trade. Unlike the Hawks, they are not a powerful family. They have impeccable lineage that they value. The only mark on that lineage is their debt to the Hawks.

 

The Characters

Jethro Hawk is the 29 year old, first born son in the Hawk family. At age thirty he will take over the reigns of the Hawk Empire. As part of that legacy, being the first born son, he gets the Indebted Inheritance. He gets the first born daughter of the Weavers. He fully intends to collect his inheritance, carry out his family’s vendetta, and claim the legacy he has been born into. He is cunning, calculating, ruthless, uncaring, controlling, manipulative, and downright terrifying. He is a villain in the darkest way. He will claim his inheritance at all costs.

Nila Weaver is a young, naïve, and innocent 24 year old woman. Like her fore fathers she has taken her place in the fashion industry. Her designs are innovative, sexy, and flawless. She has just made her mark in the Haute couture world. What should have been a celebration has turned into a nightmare. Jethro Hawk has come to collect the debt her family owes. A debt she never knew existed. A debt she will have to pay.

The other characters are still a mystery and I have a feeling they are going to make some big plays in the upcoming book.

 

As this story evolves the reader will become glued to the pages. Some secrets will be unraveled and will open new twists and turns. As the indebted inheritance proclamation comes to light readers will become deeply invested in Nila’s characters. Her inner strength and fortitude will astound the readers. She is by far one of the best female characters I have ever read. I admire her. Jethro will fascinate the reader. His anti hero persona and actions will have the reader appalled. But somehow the reader gets the sense that there is more than what we are seeing on the surface. It could be good thing or it could be much worse than we anticipated.

Pepper Winters is a brilliant writer. The way she delivers the story of Indebted #1 will draw the reader into the twisted web she has crafted. Her characters have many layers. The intensity of the story is bone chilling. She writes the story from both characters POV’s and gives the readers full exposure to their deepest, darkest thoughts. She pushes the limits and delivers with success. Indebted #1 is a fantastic start to the Debt Inheritance Series.

I would highly recommend this dark erotic series. I am looking forward to the next book in this series. I am invested in Nila’s outcome.
