Synopsis

My life just went South…

Twenty-four hours. That’s how long it took my life to flip upside down.

Wake up in bed alone after the best night of my life? Check.

Get fired instead of the promised promotion? Check.

Wealthy parents cut me off when I refuse to follow their path for my life? Check.

Now I’m in Cricket Creek, SC—a place where no New Yorker belongs—disowned and broke, with a new job that I can’t mess up. Oh yeah, and staring at my one-night stand, who happens to be the complete opposite of my type.

Southern.

Cocky.

Bartender.

Noah Hunter never should have made it back to my apartment in NYC, and I definitely shouldn’t be in his small town. But fate had another plan. Or a horrible sense of humor.

Who knew Mr. Wrong could feel so right…

Each book in the No Kissing Allowed series is a standalone, full-length story that can be enjoyed out of order.

Michel’s Review

No Falling Allowed by Melissa West is the second book in the No Kissing Allowed series.  It can be read as a stand alone novel or in series order.  I will admit I have never read any of Melissa West’s previous books and was easily drawn into this series.

No Falling Allowed was a delightful small town, southern romance that charmed me.  It didn’t have the usual stereo type southern innuendos that make Southerners seem a bit backwards.  It showcased a small town with good values, community unity, and a southern spirit without using sickenly sweet southern slang.  It captured the true spirit of the modern day South.

Noah and Grace are from two different worlds.  Grace is the heiress of Soaring Industries.  Noah is a restaurant/ bar owner in Cricket Creek, SC raising his younger brother.  Grace is fighting for her independence from her father’s expectations and Noah is trying to be the best guardian he can possibly be for his younger brother.  Both Noah and Grace are under extreme pressure in their lives.

An accidental meeting at the Met in New York leads to a one night hook up neither can forget.  Noah was called home for an emergency and left Grace’s bed without a word.  He has regrets.

After a disastrous one night stand, Grace is left with more insecurities than she already had. To make matters worse, she loses her only bit of independence, she loses her job as an event planner at the Met.  She is being forced to join her father’s business or be cut off.  She would rather starve than surrender her independence. She has to find a job fast.  An offer from Perfectly Wedded falls into her lap.  She never intended to become a wedding planner but beggars can’t be choosy.  It comes as a complete surprise when she realizes she loves the job.

Grace’s new job lands her in Cricket Creek, SC and face to face with Noah Hunter.

Grace and Noah are going to discover they had a lot more in common than they thought.  They are also going to discover that their own needs are just as important to happiness as their place in their family lives.  Most of all they are going to discover love.

No Falling Allowed was delightful.  It was the perfect light hearted romance that was not over loaded with angst and strife.  It had the perfect balance to keep the story interesting and romantic.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book and Melissa West’s writing.  I plan to read more of her books.
