The Final Move by Victoria Denault is the third book in the Hometown Players series. We have met the dynamic characters, Devin Garrison and Callie Caplan, in the previous books in this series. Devin Garrison is the oldest of the Garrison brothers. He is a highly competitive captain of his professional hockey team. He strives for perfection in every aspect of his life. When his marriage begins to fall apart he is lost. He doesn’t know how to deal with failure. He doesn’t know how to turn his life around and keep his young son happy in his new environment. He doesn’t want his friends and family to know his marriage has fallen apart. He’s coming apart at the seams, it’s affecting his professional life as well as his personal life. His life is a mess until Callie Caplan steps in and shows Devin that life may not be “perfect” but he can still be the best at everything he does. It’s time to switch gears and conquer a new life.

Callie Caplan is the middle Caplan sister. She has had to be a balance for both her sisters. While Rose is overly romantic and Jessie is too cautious, Callie is the head strong, free spirited one with a good head on her shoulders. At times she can come across as crass or too blunt but every word she speaks is the truth. She is very protective of her family. She has also been affected by their messed up childhood and doesn’t believe in lasting love. But when she goes to New York and finds Devin in a mess, it changes her views on what love is really about.

Together Devin and Callie will make discoveries about themselves, their dreams, and how love should really be. When both of them finally put the past aside and decide to move on together, Devin’s wife wants to reconcile. She wants to give him back his perfect life. Devin will have decide on what “perfect” really means in his life.

Victoria Denault did a fantastic job with this book. It was highly emotional and proved that life doesn’t stand still. Changes are okay and imperfection is beautiful. The Final Move is my favorite book in this fantastic series. I love the Garrison and Caplan clans. Together they make The Hometown Players series a winner!
