Sinfully sexy and suspenseful.  Callie should have known better than to try to run from her two Doms.  Sean and Thorpe would stop at nothing in order to keep her safe.  This was my first stand alone Shayla Black novel and I absolutely f&ing loved it.  Callie is an amazing female lead.  She tough, strong, sexy, sassy, and independent.  She has been on the run for so long that she knows how to cut and run like a pro.  When she starts to feel like Sean is figuring out what her real identity is she begins the cut and run process.  In the blink of an eye, she is gone.

Sean and Thorpe can’t believe it.  They both know what her true identity is and become enraged that she got away from them.  She has put herself in danger and their sassy sub is about to get a the spanking of a lifetime.  Shayla write some amazingly sexy menage sex scenes.  Holy Hell!!!  Sean and Thorpe are hot as well and keep Callie on edge once they get a hold of her.  Even though the sex is smoking there is so much more to this story.  Why does someone want Callie dead?  What changed the minds of the agencies looking for her to cause them to believe that she was not guilty of family’s murder?  This is what kept me turning the pages because I needed to see what was going to happen next.  Who was the man in the blue military uniform?

I am now a huge Shayla Black fan and will buying every book in this series.  Her character development is superb and her story line has so many twists and turns that it keeps you on the edge of your seat.

If you like your romance with action, intrigue, and sizzling hot sexy Doms you will love Theirs to Cherish.

Four Years Later

We’re so excited that Monica Murphy’s FOUR YEARS LATER is finally here! FOUR YEARS LATER is a New Adult contemporary romance and is the final book in the Drew+Fable Series! Check out the excerpt below, then enter to win the fabulous prizes she has for you!

FOUR YEARS LATER Synopsis:

New Adult bestselling author Monica Murphy winds up her sensational series with this sexy story of two college kids with nothing in common but a bunch of baggage and a burning attraction.

Over. That about sums up everything in my life. Suspended from my college football team and forced to cut back my hours at The District bar because of my crappy grades, I can’t keep turning to my sister, Fable, and her pro-football playing husband, Drew, to bail me out. I just can’t seem to find my own way. Weed and sex are irresistible temptations—and it’s messed up that I secretly hand over money to our junkie mom. A tutor is the last thing I want right now—until I get a look at her.

Chelsea is not my type at all. She’s smart and totally shy. I’m pretty sure she’s even a virgin. But when she gives me the once over with those piercing blue eyes, I’m really over. But in a different way. I won’t deny her ass is killer, but it’s her brain and the way she seems to crave love—like no one’s ever given her any—that make me want her more than any girl I’ve ever met. But what would someone as seemingly together as her ever see in a screwed up guy like me?

EXCERPT

“Anything else?” I ask them minutes later as I drop the check on their table.

Owen slaps his hand against the piece of paper and drags it toward him. “I think that’s it.”

“Great.” I smile but it feels brittle. “I can be your cashier or you can pay at the register.”

“Hey, what else can you be for us, huh?” one of Owen’s friends ask, making the other one laugh.

My cheeks are hot again and my mouth is open. I’m gaping at them like a dying fish and thankfully Owen rushes to my defense. “Shut the hell up, Des.” He glances up at me, all traces of the buzzed foolish boy who first walked in here gone. “He’s drunk. He doesn’t know what he’s saying.”

“I know exactly what I’m saying,” drunken Des mumbles, clamping his lips shut when Owen shoots him a deathly stare.

“It’s all right,” I say, backing away from them slowly. “Take your time.”

I turn to flee from their table when I hear someone slide out of the booth, strong fingers curling around my upper arm and stopping me from leaving. He’s standing directly behind me, the warmth from his body seeping into mine and I go completely still. Willing myself not to react, not to say something stupid and embarrass myself.

Look what he’s doing to me just by touching my arm. This sort of thing doesn’t happen to me. I don’t care about boys. I’ve been kissed a measly three times in my life, once by Cody Curtis the tongue thruster and he definitely doesn’t count.

So twice. Twice I’ve been kissed and I’m a virgin. A freaking virgin. Owen Maguire has player written all over him. I’m nothing to him.

So why is he touching me? Talking to me in that husky low murmur of his that slides over me like slow, warm honey?

“…need to talk to you. About this tutoring thing,” he’s saying and I wrench myself out of his grip, irritated that I didn’t pay attention to what he said at first.

“Just meet me Monday afternoon as scheduled and we should be good to go.” I turn to face him, a fake smile plastered to my face and he stares at my lips for a long, breath stealing second before he finally lifts those too pretty green eyes up to meet mine.

My lips are tingling like he actually kissed them. God.

“I don’t even know your name,” he murmurs.

My Review

bigstock_Five_stars_Mesh_13933472

Oh Owen how I love you…Monica delivers a innocent yet deliciously sexy read.  I am a huge Drew and Fable fan and was intrigued to see what Monica was going to to with Owen.  Owen was such a typical teen dealing with a crap situation the best he knew how.  Smoking weed and getting into trouble was the way that Owen was dealing with his mother and her addiction.  All Owen ever wanted was his mothers love and so he enabled her addiction.  The stress of taking care of his mother and hiding it from Fable began to take its toll on his grades.  Bad grades equals no football.  Football is Owen’s future.  He loves it and is talented enough to go all the way.  So it looks like Owen is going to need a tutor.

Chelsea is bright and is also escaping her past.  She is working several jobs to put herself through school with one of them being a tutor.  When Chelsea is given the task to tutor Owen Maguire everything goes to hell and a hand basket.  Once he steps in the room she is at a loss for words.  She loses the skills to speak the English language and she is supposed to tutor him in it.  However, she is not the only one who is affected.  Owen isn’t blind and Chelsea is beautiful but untouchable.

He showed up on time to please me.  And guess what?  It does please me, more that it should.  I’m such and easy target.  “I fell asleep”.

“Clearly.”

I rub my forehead.  “I don’t usually do that”.

“Maybe you should more often.  I think you were sleeping pretty hard.”

Wariness fills me and I stiffen my spine.  “Why do you say that?”

“Well, you have crease marks on your cheek.”  He reaches out and traces them, his fingertips so light on my skin a shiver steals through me.

I can feel his warmth and smell his intoxicating scent like smoke and spice, fresh air and crisp apples.  He smells like fall.  Fall has always been my favorite season.

Monica takes a character that I really could care less about and makes me fall hard for him.  She is a masterful character developer.   She created a beautiful love story with Four Years Later that has stayed with me.  The love that Owen feels for Chelsea is amazingly beautiful, and the kind that will last a lifetime. Chelsea and Owen help each other face their demons.  They find that together they can conquer anything.  I was also excited to see that Fable and Owen’s mother gets whats coming to her.    Maybe if we get lucky Monica will write a Chelsea and Owen Forever Novella someday.  I don’t know if I will ever get enough of these characters.

If you loved Drew and Fable as much as I did then you will love Four Years Later.  Plus you get to see more of Autumn and she is so friggin cute!

Excerpt

Dev nodded that we were ready to be announced and then we walked down a magnificent marble staircase. Twenty steps led us into a huge ballroom that had been set for the royal banquet.

I held on firmly to both their arms because the last thing I needed was to tumble down the stairs and break a limb. I looked out over the crowd and realized Dev had been right. Everyone was hoping for a big scene. They were whispering behind their hands and gawking. They moved their attention between the three of us and the woman at the end of the hall.

I glanced up and got my first glimpse of my mother-in-law.

Miria, Queen of Faery, sat upon her throne before me. There was a raised platform with three chairs. Miria sat on the largest of the three in between two slightly smaller thrones. All three were carved from oak and elaborate in their design. Declan sat in one to her right, a look of aloof superiority on his face. I’d been told the seat to her left was the one Dev used. There were several people standing around the queen, and I suspected they were counselors and high nobles. Padric stood closest to the queen. It was fitting as he was both the head of security for the royal family and the queen’s lover.

Miria, Queen of Faery, was gloriously lovely. I was surprised to find she had long strawberry-blonde hair. I guessed the twins got their dark good looks from their father. Miria was fair but by no means bland. Her face was delicately sculpted, with high cheek bones and a lush mouth. Her eyes marked her as the twins’ relative. They were emerald green and sparkled with the same intelligence Dev had.

“Dude,” Daniel said as we approached the throne. “That’s your mom?”

She didn’t look old enough to be his mom, but that was the way it was with the Fae. They reached their prime and just stopped aging. Miria looked to be about twenty-five. Dev was twenty-seven now and would look older than his mother or brother had he not been taking Daniel’s blood regularly. Daniel’s blood stopped the aging process in humans when taken on a regular basis. I’d begun noticing that for Dev, it seemed to actually reverse aging a little. The fine lines around his eyes he got when he laughed had disappeared.

Miria tried to maintain her cool composure but the closer we got the more her eyes ate up the sight of her son. I saw her eyes get glossy with unshed tears, and she reached out to Declan. He patted his mother’s hand and for a moment looked less like a brat prince.

“Good evening, Mother,” Dev said formally as we reached the throne. He bowed deeply.

I could see her son’s formal tone was not what the queen had been hoping for. “Devinshea, it is good to see you.”

Dev didn’t give her anything. He nodded but chose to introduce us rather than reply. “Mother, this is my goddess, Zoey. And this is my partner, Daniel Donovan. I assume Declan brought you up to speed on my living arrangements.”

That last was said coolly and with just a hint of challenge. He was just begging for his mother to say something disparaging about his lifestyle.

Miria had none of that. She smiled broadly and stood, causing Declan to quickly get his butt up as well. She wore a lovely white gown and a crown that sparkled in the candlelight. “Yes, of course. Declan and Padric both spoke highly of your wife and partner.”

Declan snorted at that. He didn’t like Danny. It probably had something to do with the fact that Daniel had kicked his ass the first time they met. “I certainly did not. I spoke poorly of him.”

Miria ignored her elder son. She stepped off the platform and walked to us. She stood before me. “It is so good to meet you, daughter,” she said with what seemed like complete sincerity. She kissed my cheek and gave me a long look. She laughed brightly. “Well, Devinshea, you certainly brought a beauty home. You are lovely, dear.”

“She is beautiful but not obedient,” Declan noted. “That is not the dress I told her to wear.”

“Hush,” she admonished. “The dress is stunning and suits her far more than anything in our style. Our styles would swallow her beautiful body. Declan, you were right about her breasts. They are delicious looking.”

The last bit was said with a slight breathless appreciation. I felt Danny tense beside me as he tried hard not to laugh at my sudden discomfort. My mother-in-law was looking me over with a sensual smile.

“I told you,” Declan said with a lecherous grin.

Dev leaned over and whispered in my ear. “Mother swings both ways. Sorry I didn’t mention that before.”

I gave him a “what the hell” look but Miria was moving on to Daniel.

“I should be upset with your presence, Mr. Donovan,” Miria said, looking him over. “Devinshea was supposed to keep you under control until I decided if you were dangerous or not.”

Dev started to argue but Daniel stepped up to the plate.

“I assure you, Your Highness, I am perfectly harmless,” he said with more charm than I’d heard him use on any woman but me. Dev was rubbing off on my vampire. Daniel was imitating his smooth tones.

Miria looked Daniel up and down, from his Ferragamo loafers to his perfectly cropped blond hair. “I doubt that, Mr. Donovan. I think you could do some serious damage.”

I saw Padric roll his eyes and mutter, “Not again.”

“How about I promise to be a good boy?” Daniel offered, his voice a dark seduction. I stopped myself from giggling because Danny was getting good at this.

“Please don’t.” Miria’s lips curled up. “Where would be the fun in that?”

“Mother!” Dev said sounding completely prudish for the first time in my relationship with him.

Declan snickered beside his brother.

Miria turned her attention back to her son. “Well, Devinshea, when you bring such lovely bodies home, what do you expect? They are exotic and look like they would be excellent bedmates. It would be rude not to admire them.”

Yes, she was definitely Declan’s mom.

“The Earth plane has changed my brother,” Declan complained. “It has turned him into a squeamish old woman. He refuses to even think about sharing Zoey with me. He pulled a gun on me just for cuddling with her.”

“I would have done worse.” Daniel looked at Declan and his fangs were long suddenly. “And I don’t need a gun.”

The rest of the room was startled and seemed to take a big step back, but Miria stood her ground. She went toe to toe with Daniel. She was definitely interested in those fangs.

She spoke to her son but her eyes were on Daniel. “Declan, you should know vampires are possessive creatures. It is impressive that Devinshea was able to forge a ménage with such a powerful creature and his companion. It makes a statement about his prowess. I am proud of you, son. You have done well. Tell me, Mr. Donovan, do you bite my son?”

“As often as possible,” Daniel replied with no hint of self-consciousness. “I find faery blood to be quite the treat.”

“Yes,” she returned with regret. “Unfortunately, it is why I was forced to close the mounds to your kind. Your kind likes our blood, and we tend to like your bite, Mr. Donovan. I found it to be a combustible mix.”

“Please call me Daniel,” my vampire offered smoothly.

“I will,” Miria promised. “And you and your companion may refer to me as Miria or mother if you like. I am your mother-in-law. Formally, of course, for Zoey, but I completely recognize your relationship and approve. I am pleased to welcome you. You will be treated as a member of this family, Daniel.”

“Good,” Dev said between clenched teeth. “Then you can stop hitting on him. And for the record, while I feed my partner, we are not lovers beyond the fact that we share Zoey.”

Miria looked startled. “Why ever not, son? He is attractive. I did not raise you to be so close minded. You should …what is that human term you told me about, Declan?”

“Hit that,” Declan supplied helpfully.

“Yes, Devinshea, you should hit that,” Miria said seriously.

Daniel finally lost it, and there were tears in his eyes as he laughed. He leaned over, whispering to Dev. “Shit, man, we should have come here earlier. This is awesome.”

Dev turned to me. “My goddess, what are the chances of the floor opening up and swallowing me whole, sending me to a blissful oblivion?”

“Not so good. Sorry.” Miria made me feel better about my dad.

“I think we should begin dinner now,” Padric said sourly, looking at Daniel with a shake of his head. He took Miria’s arm and started to lead her to the head table. Already servants were rushing to action.

Danny just couldn’t help it. “Dev, your mom’s a total cougar, man.”

I grinned as Dev blushed for the first time in…ever. “My mother is five hundred thirty-two years old. Cougar does not apply.”

“Sabertooth, then.” Daniel just had to rub it in.

About The Author:

Isabella Delvino is not your typical author. Although she spent her childhood outdoors and not with her nose in a book, she was always creating stories in her head. Her first ‘publishing success’ was winning a monthly writing contest for BOP magazine at the age of fifteen. It was a very short paragraph (about a certain boy band) but she won. No, she hasn’t been writing ever since but hey, better late than never. Isabella graduated from The University of Southern California and has been a career Stay-At-Home mom for many years. She lives with her husband, two kids and three dogs in a suburb of Los Angeles. She’s usually reading, watching the latest on Netflix or in the drive-thru line at Starbucks.
