Eye Telling by Maja Flak Blog Tour + Giveaway

Katherine Newheart is engaged to her dull fiancé, Matthew O’Connor, who’s just been made a partner in Katherine’s father’s law firm.
When she meets The Boy alias Benjamin Riley, everything changes. Katherine tries to hold back, keep her usual control but it fails because Benjamin is everything that Matthew isn’t and that makes him everything that Katherine needs and wants. He awakes her in more ways than one. Katherine ends all tangled up in a steamy hot and passionate love affair with Benjamin. She tries to break if off with Matthew but all of a sudden, he turns into a complete monster and starts being violent towards her, threatening her about some fatal information he has about her family. Katherine can’t stay away from Benjamin, even though she’s perfectly aware that she might jeopardize it all but her love for Benjamin is strong, stronger than her own control. But how strong is Katherine’s control when it all comes down to it? Is the passionate love between her and Benjamin enough for her to start doing things just for her or will she end up in her controlling way again?

My Review

Eye Telling is a sinfully erotic story about forbidden love.  Katherine is a career woman that is somewhat of a workaholic.  She goes through the motions each day not really living life to its fullest potential.  Matthew is Katherine’s fiance of five years, and yet they do not live together.  Matthew is a control freak.  Katherine has changed so much of who she is to please Matthew, and doesn’t realize it until the boy comes along.  He awakens her body and her mind.  She had never known what a skilled lover was until she met Ben.  But, Ben has secrets, and what if Matthew found out about her hunger for forbidden fruit.

In the beginning I was not happy with Katherine for cheating on Matthew. Later in the story, when Matthew’s true personality emerges, I am shocked that she stays with him. Maja does a good job developing her characters.  She had me hating the boy, then loving him, loving Matthew, then hating him, and I wanted to give Katherine a swift kick in the ass for most of the story.  This story did not have the hook that I am used to.  It took a while for me to get into this book.  I am glad I stuck it out though, because this story needed to be told.  It was very realistic.  I know there are couples out there that are very similar to Katherine and Matthew and that is really sad.  I hope to see Katherine get her happily ever after in book two.

About the Author

Hello, as you probably know already, my name is Maja. I’m 28 years old and live in Denmark.

I want to share a little bit about myself and my private life because I want to stay true to who I am and that’s being open and honest.

I’m a single mom to my precious son, Tobias. He’s my blessing and teacher in life – that may sound a little weird but he’s shown me so much, thanks to him, I’ve learned how to fight and to keep on fighting. You see, my son is very sick from some unknown illness and doctors have given up but I haven’t and I will never ever give up.

Last year I read the Fifty Shades book series and loved it, obviously who didn’t?! Anyways, it got me thinking that maybe I should start writing again and let my imagination run wild. I started writing on another story, actually, from a man’s perspective but then Eye Telling came creeping in my mind and I started writing on that instead because I wanted to create a story where the lead male character isn’t a rich and career-minded man in an expensive designer suit but instead a regular but HOT guy who’s not as fortunate. He has a youthful clothing style and tattoos. He had a hell of a childhood but his ‘demons’ isn’t standing in the way of him wanting to be with Katherine (the lead female character).

In this story Katherine is the one who can’t seem to commit.

I never thought it would develop into a full length novel, but somehow it did and I’m so proud to have published my very own romance. It’s been a sweet escape for a sometimes rough everyday life and I can’t wait to share more of my stories.

Steal the Day by Lexi Blake Review + Steal the Light Giveaway

Steal the Day_

The world’s most unusual thief faces her greatest challenge—stealing a soul from the depths of Hell…

When a member of her crew is dragged to Hell by a demon, Zoey plans the most dangerous heist of her career. With her team at her side, Zoey intends to sneak onto the Hell plane and steal Sarah back.

The job seems impossible until a new client makes them an offer too good to refuse. If she can find an ancient artifact called The Revelation, she can use it to locate an angel who holds Sarah’s redemption in his hands.

Surrounded by warring angels and demons, the greatest threat may come from one of her own. Torn between her Fae lover and the vampire who has always held her heart, Zoey finds that she and Dev are trapped in Daniel’s web of secrets, and it may be Zoey who has to pay the ultimate price.

My Review

Intelligent and Seductive…Urban Fantasy at its Finest.

I was seduced the second I read the first page and could not put this book down until I finished it.

“Zoey.” Dev breathed in my ear, his voice the sweetest of seductions. His hands moved across my skin and despite the fact that we’d made love earlier, I responded to him immediately. Everywhere he touched, my skin seemed to flare to life. “I sincerely apologize. I have treated you poorly.” I smiled because I knew what was coming next. “I disagree, Dev. I was treated incredibly well. At least three times.”

Steal the Day picks up at the end of Steal the Light with Zoey questioning her relationships. She was tricked into a marriage with a vampire who, before he changed, was her whole entire life. She loved Danny, but he was not the same person now. He left her behind with no explanation, or communication, for four months. She moved on with her life during that time, and fell in love with a Faery Prince named Devinshea Quinn. Dev is a stunning sex god (literally) and his mission is to give her ultimate pleasure. She needed a distraction and Dev is a very sensual and pleasurable distraction. Zoey is planning to enter Hell to steal her friend Sarah back from an awful demon that snatched her during their last heist. Sarah was part of Zoey’s team of thieves, and Zoey never left anyone behind.

So, what happens when Zoey’s plan to go to hell, goes to hell, and all hell breaks loose…

Lexi Blake once again writes a story with fascinating characters. Each character sucks you into their world where you can feel their emotions. I cried when it was time for Chad to go, laughed at Dev’s many requests to check off sex in various states and planes, and was left hot at bothered by the sinfully sexy Nex Apparatus. Yes it finally happens for all of you that have read Steal the Light. Steal the Day is much more provocative and sensual then its predecessor, which, has made it my best-loved Urban Fantasy thus far. I am impatiently waiting the arrival of Steal the Moon in January.

My review of Far Too Tempting by Lauren Blakely + a link to the sexiest actors with UK accents

Lauren Blakely's new book

Jane Black has written the breakup album of the century, earning her a Grammy, a huge legion of new fans, and the pressure to repeat her success. Sure, the heartbreak from her husband’s unconventional abandonment might have been her inspiration, but it hasn’t done her any favors in the dating department. So when Matthew Harrigan, the toughest music journalist out there, asks for an interview, Jane agrees—as long as her personal life is completely off-limits.

British, gorgeous, and way too tempting, Matthew’s the first guy Jane’s been attracted to since her husband. As she spends more time with him and their relationship heats up, though, so does her writer’s block. How can the queen of the breakup pen the perfect follow-up when she’s seriously in love?

My Review

Lauren Blakely delivers a sinfully delicious love story that includes a sexy Brit that will have you so hot and bothered that you will want to tear off your knickers.

Matthew Harrigan is a british music critic for Beat Magazine.  He is smitten with Jane Black an up and coming rock star and has a secret crush that he can no longer deny.

Jane Black has just had the rug ripped out from under her when her husband reveals a deep dark secret that ultimately ends their marriage.  Janes break-up of her marriage inspires her to create an album that rises to the top of the charts very quickly and launches her into stardom.

But what happens when Jane gets over her husband and no longer is holding on to the pain of their break-up?  Was the pain the driving force behind her ability to write great music? Have the Gods of Rock-n-Roll abandoned her?

Maybe all she needs is a sexy Brit to inspire her…

Lauren does an excellent job developing her characters through their dialogue with each other.  Some of my favorite scenes from this story are the e-mail exchange between Jane and Matthew, the blowjob scene (you have to read the book for this scene alone), and I would be remiss if I did not mention the hot and steamy conversation filled with innuendo in the market.

If you love a hot, steamy, and sexy forbidden love story with a few surprises that will put a huge smile on your face, and can speak with a sexy british accent in your head, (if not here is a link to several videos for the top 10 sexist male actors with british accents http://thecelebritycafe.com/feature/2013/08/top-10-sexiest-actors-uk-accents) I assure you that will find Far Too Tempting to be a stupendously sexy read.

Off Chance by Sawyer Bennett Review, Excerpt, and Giveaway

Bestselling author Sawyer Bennett has released her latest New Adult Contemporary novel in the Off Series!

He is seeking absolution.

Flynn Caldwell has a hero complex and it’s one of the reasons he joined the New York City Fire Department. He has spent his entire professional career trying to atone for that one person he failed to save. Because, if he can do that, then perhaps he can be worthy of love again.

šShe is seeking escape.

Rowan Page’s life is nothing short of a disaster. Always immersed in trouble, she has only herself to depend on. She’s determined to pull herself out of this mess and make something of her life, despite the hard years she has lived on the streets of New York.

šTogether, they have the chance to become complete.

Flynn and Rowan’s worlds exist miles apart, but when a chance meeting brings them together, neither of them can deny the instant pull that connects them to each other. What starts as a tiny spark eventually flares into a fire so hot, it refuses to be extinguished.

šBoth are willing to jump feet first into the flames to see where it takes them, despite the risk of being burned.

You can only imagine what happens when a smoking hot fireman with a hero complex tries to rescue a damsel in distress that is no way interested in being rescued…A whole lot angst and sexual tension are sure to follow.

Flynn Caldwell has a track record for dating women with a lot of baggage that he thinks he can save.  His family and friends are tired of seeing Flynn brokenhearted when these women leave him behind.

“My family and friends would be thinking there goes Flynn…off to save another soul…”

Rowan Paige has never experienced love even as a child she was neglected.  She has been taking care of herself for a very long time and does not need anyone’s help. However lately she has not made the best decisions.  When she finds herself shackled to a bed in a burning house..she questions herself in that shacking up with a drug dealer may not have been such a good idea.  Still she is stubborn to the core.  Flynn just wants to help her find her dog…well for now anyway…

Rowan-“I told you I don’t need your help, so you might as well turn around and march out of here, too.”

Flynn-“Well, tough shit…I’m going to help you find your dog whether you like it or not.  And it will get done a lot faster if we work with each other rather than against each other.”

I love me a hot alpha Caldwell male. Whew!  Sawyer once again does an outstanding job developing her characters.  Rowan is like a feral cat but Flynn knows exactly how to calm her down and break away at the ice that surrounds her heart. He knows how important it is for Rowan to earn her keep and admires her for it.  Rowan is also very funny, smart, and sexy, and it is easy to see Flynn become smitten with her.

A man can only take so much though, and Rowan has a concrete wall surrounding her heart.  Will she push him too hard and lose her only friend and the man of her dreams…

If you have read any of the Off Series you will love Off Chance.  Plus Emily and Nix have a cameo in this book and they are my favorite Off Couple.  (It would seem that I have an addiction to hot military alpha heros…go figure).

I can only imagine what Thanksgiving would be like with the Caldwells. There will be plenty of good food, lots of laughter, and probably some naps when it’s all said and done.

“And Capone can come, too,” Flynn throws in to entice me further, but I’d already decided to accept.

“Okay. We’re in. Can you ask your mom what I can bring?”

“I’ll ask but I know she’ll say ‘don’t bring a thing but yourself’.”

I laugh over Flynn’s impersonation of his mom’s Irish accent. “In that case, don’t bother asking and I’ll just bring something. Maybe a pie.”

“You can cook?” Flynn asks with astonishment.

“Of course I can cook,” I tell him with indignation.

“Then how come all we ever have is pizza or bologna sandwiches when it’s your turn to cook?”

“Just because I can cook, doesn’t mean I want to. This is the twenty-first century pal… get with the times. Women have shed the chains of slavery and we no longer serve you menfolk.”

Flynn throws his head back and starts howling with laughter, then he pitches forward, holding the hand with Capone’s leash to his stomach while he laughs, with the other holding onto his hot cocoa. It’s infectious and I start laughing along with him.

He looks at me and our eyes meet.

Then it happens… there is almost a crackle in the air, like electricity is flowing between us. Flynn’s laughter immediately dies away and the smile slides from my face. The same happens to me and nothing is left in our expressions except a focused intensity on each other. It’s almost as if I can feel heat swirling all around us, and the backdrop of the world fades to black.

Until nothing is left but just Flynn and me.

I call it “The Happening” and it represents those few times when the resolve to just be friends seems to melt away into oblivion. It occurs at the weirdest of times and I have no control over it. When I’m in that moment with Flynn, I want nothing more than for him to grab me and kiss me like I was the oxygen his lungs crave. I want to strip him bare and use just my fingertips to trace every inch of skin on his body. I want to get lost… deeply lost, in Flynn.

“The Happening” hits Flynn just as hard as it hits me. I see the desire light him up from within. I feel the sexual tension pouring off him with visceral awareness, and I swear I can feel his heart moaning for me.

When “The Happening” occurs, I am powerless to fight it. In fact, if Flynn ever made a move to touch me during the event, I would completely submit to him body and soul. But thankfully, Flynn is a stronger person than I am, and he is clearly the more responsible of the two of us. He’ll usually snap out of it first, and bring me crashing back to reality.

Like he does right at this moment.

Wish I May By Lexi Ryan Review, Giveaway, and Blog Tour

I grew up wishing on stars.

My father taught me to believe…in destiny, in magic, in happily ever after. Dreams were my scripture and the starry night sky was my temple. Then Mom stopped believing, left him, and took us with her. At the age of sixteen, I cashed in my dreams to pay the rent, pawned my destiny to keep my sisters together.

Now, seven years later, I’m returning home, grieving the death of my mother, and settling my sisters back into the life Mom threw away. I never intended to stay. I don’t want to deal with my father, who is so invested in the spiritual world he forgets the physical. I don’t want to face William Bailey, whose eyes remind me of the girl I was, the things I’ve done, and the future I lost.

This would all be easier if Will hated me. As it is, I have to hold my secrets close so they won’t hurt him more than they’ve already hurt me. But he wants to be in my life. He wants what I can’t bring myself to confess I sold. He wants me.

I find myself looking to my stars again…wondering if I dare one more wish.

My Review

Lexi Ryan takes a character (William Bailey) from Unbreak Me that I really did not care anything about and has made me fall in love with him. I was not sure I even wanted to read William’s story, but I am so glad that I did because he now rates in my top 5 hottest and most sexiest leading men. William Bailey is an artist and professor that has struck out on love one too many times. Cally Fisher was William’s first love and ruined him for all other women. Is it Destiny or just a coincidence that Cally’s GPS malfunctions directly in front of a hot, sweaty, and sinfully sexy William Bailey while he is on his morning run?

“Can I help you?” The Adonis from my past narrows his eyes. “Cally?”

Cally Fisher has had a really rough life and has had to make some very difficult decisions in order to take care of her mother and sisters. After the passing of her mother she comes back home to New Hope to settle her sisters in with their father and try to make a better life for them. The last person she expects to run into is the one man that still owns a piece of her heart.

“After seven years. After the lamest breakup in the history of breakups. After breaking his heart and dismissing my own, I’m still very much his.”

Lexi Ryan weaves a wonderful tale of two lovers and how they are able to look past so much personal baggage each of them holds onto, and find unselfish, and unconditional love. She kept me in knots as to whether or not I believed that Cally would only cause William tragedy or if she was the remedy for his broken heart.

If you like a strong leading man that puts his heart on the line for one last chance at love with the woman who has always owned his heart then you will love Wish I May by Lexi Ryan. I laughed, I cried, and I stayed up all night to finish this one.

Happy Release Day! My Review of UnLucky Moon by Carrie Ann Ryan

Humans aren’t as alone as they choose to believe. Every human possesses a trait of supernatural that lays dormant within their genetic make-up. Centuries of diluting and breeding have allowed humans to think they are alone and untouched by magic. But what happens when something changes?

He’s spent the last few years in hell fighting in the demon games and doing things that would haunt even the fiercest of men’s nightmares. But now Hunter Brooks is back in the human realm, ready to take on the Pack that left him behind…and take the mate he’s just met.

Becca Quinn is one of the seven lightning-struck women—a human who isn’t so human and only needs to find her true half to unlock all that she could be. Hunter, the dangerous, sexy wolf, has saved her life twice, and yet she knows nothing about him—only that she wants to know everything she can.

Between the Pack’s council and strangers who could take everything away from them, Becca and Hunter have more to fight and everything to fight for. Hunter’s dark past takes over their courtship, and just when he thinks all his lost, he’ll find that Becca’s more than he—or she—ever thought.

Warning: Contains a sexy wolf who broods with the best of them, a woman who defines the term unlucky, and a chemistry that’s sure to make the wolf howl in all of us.

My Review

I fell in love with Hunter in Her Warriors Three Wishes when he decides to help Jamie fight and escape.  Hunter is a sinfully sexy and hot dominant male wolf that knows what he wants and is not going to let anyone stop him take Becca as his mate.

Becca is an amazingly strong woman that does not like to be told what to do and does not put up with anyone’s shit. She is constantly having to deal with drunks making passes at her while she waits tables Dante’s Circle Bar.  So you can only guess happens when fate steps in and makes Becca Hunter’s mate…

The scene below is one of my favorites.  Becca is busy at work and Hunter comes to visit her for the first time in a month.

“I’m telling you to do what you want, like you’ve been doing, but if you want to talk to me, go sit with Jamie and her men.” -Becca

“The man should learn his place.  He has no right to stare at Becca like that.”-Hunter

Hunter has to learn the hard way that Becca can take of herself and has to rein in his jealousy when other men are looking at her.

Carrie Ann Ryan does an excellent job developing her characters.  I think everyone can relate to that one friend that is kind of clumsy at times and also refuses to take help from anyone.  Who doesn’t love a dark and sexy wolf that would give his life for the woman he loves?  Hunter is an amazing Beta that is fair and kind to those that are loyal to him in his pack.  Carrie kept me turning the pages because I could not wait to see what Becca would change into.  It was definitely not what I was expecting.  I really enjoyed watching Becca fight for Hunter and prove to the pack that she is strong enough to be the mate of the Beta of the Nocturne Pack.

If you like a shifter story with an unexpected twist, steamy hot sex scenes, and lots of kick ass fighting,  then you will love UnLucky Moon by Carrie Ann Ryan.

Love and Let Die by Lexi Blake Giveaway + My Review

A Tragic Love Story

Charlotte Dennis’s mission was clear: distract and misdirect CIA operative Ian Taggart by any means necessary. If she failed, she would never see her sister again. With her training, it should have been simple, but after one night in Ian’s arms, she knew that saving her sister would mean losing the man of her dreams.

Ian was tracking a terrorist when he met the beautiful American daughter of a Russian mobster. His instincts told him Charlotte was trouble, but his body craved her like a drug and his heart would not be denied. She took his ring and his collar. For once he was truly happy. But as he closed in on his target, her betrayal cost him his mission while her sacrifice saved his life. As she died in his arms, Ian vowed he would never love again.

A Dangerous Reunion

For five years, Charlotte has thought of nothing but returning to her husband, her Master. Working in the shadows, she has devoted herself to earning a chance to reclaim her place in Ian’s life. But forgiveness isn’t a part of Ian’s vocabulary.

Nothing is more important to Ian Taggart than his new mission. But the information he needs is firmly in the hands of the woman who betrayed him. To catch his most dangerous prey, Ian will have to let Charlotte back into his life. As the hunt takes them to some of the world’s most exotic locations, the danger grows and their passion reignites.

Will Ian forgive his wayward submissive…or lose her again?

My thoughts on the Masters and Mercenaries Series

I have absolutely fallen in love with this series.  Spies, espionage, and intrigue all packaged up in a hot dominant male package.  All the men at McKay-Taggart are smoking hot and the women are amazingly strong sexy submissives.  Ian Taggart has been the constant hard ass in all of the books so far.  He does not do relationships, shows no emotion or weakness, except for one night a year where he gets drunk and listens to Guns and Roses.  You can’t help but want to see him fall hard for a woman.  My heart goes out to Charlotte for trying.  All of the books in this series take the reader on amazing journeys to countries like Scotland and England where these sexy spies get mixed up with Scotland Yard and MI-6.  If you like Jason Bourne meets Fifty Shades of Grey then you will love this series.

My Review

Anyone that has read any of the masters and mercenaries books knows that Ian Taggart can be the worlds biggest jackass. Ian proves himself to be a man of very little kind words once again in “Love and Let Die” when his wife Charlotte comes back from the dead and shows up on his doorstep.

Charlotte is my favorite female leading lady so far in this series because she is a freaking genius spy that is sinfully sexy and sassy as hell. This short little conversation between Charlotte and Ian cracked me up. She is such a little tramp and I love it.

“You tied up my banking accounts. You moved them to another name.” -Ian Taggart

“I should get points for calling you Hottie McHot Pants. I meant it as a compliment. ”-Charlotte Taggart

That is just a little taste of Charlotte Taggart. She proves to be one tough chick that should not be crossed. Once again I could not stop turning the pages to see what was going to happen next. From shootouts to explosions, to spies and espionage, and of course Eli Nelson wreaking havoc… there is more action packed in this book then there was in the last Bond flick. Lexi once again writes a very vivid story with an amazing amount of detail to the point that the reader can close their eyes and imagine that they are there. She develops these awesome characters that are so damaged from their past and you get to watch them as they deal with their inner demons. Charlotte has to deal with the horrible memories of her childhood and what her father did to her and her sister Chelsea. Ian has had a heart of ice for the past five years and has serious trust issues because of Charlotte’s betrayal. The dominant side of Simon also appears when he is confronted with the damage Chelsea is dealing with.

(Please Lexi write a book about Simon. I can already hear that sexy British accent in my head demanding submission.)

If you like action, hot Doms, scorching hot sex scenes, and sassy Subs you must and I say must read “Love and Let Die”.

Thank you once again Lexi Blake for such a kick ass story.
