Lucky parked in the driveway, turning off the motor. He unbuckled his seatbelt but didn’t get out of the truck. Reaching across the seat, he took my hand. “Come over here.”

Even though he only touched my fingers, my whole body felt the tingles of anticipation at the meaning behind his words.

“I think you already used your kiss credit tonight,” I teased.

He laughed. “Well, if you think that was a kiss earlier, then I must not have much past competition to erase.”

Lucky scooted out from behind the steering wheel into the middle of the bench seat. Tugging my hand, it didn’t take much con­vincing to close the gap between us. He slipped an arm around my back, holding me against him. Lucky touched my cheek with his other hand. “Close your eyes.”

I did what he asked, sending the cab into dark­ness. The rest of my senses heightened. His body felt warmer. His cologne smelled stronger. I felt his breath against my lips. “Katie, I want you to know that I have thought about this moment for forty-six hours and about thirteen minutes. And every second that passed, I just wanted to kiss you more.”

His mouth touched mine with a faint brush. He captured my upper lip, pulling it slightly before letting go. He did it again with just a little bit more pressure, letting his tongue graze my bottom lip.

I let out a gasp as the next kiss went deep and his tongue brushed over mine. Our mouths blended together effortless­ly.

First kisses had always been awkward. Noses hitting. Tongues passing just a little too much spit. I had always as­sumed there wasn’t any way around it until you got used to the other person’s movements.

Tonight was different.

I wasn’t in control. It was all Lucky. He was almost pos­sessive, tugging and pulling at my lips, making the adren­aline pump through my body as I struggled to catch my breath. And then he went back to slow, delicate passes with his tongue, fanning the ache in places I shouldn’t have while sitting in a truck with someone I had only met two days ago.But I didn’t have a choice in the matter. He was a better kisser than a singer. And that was saying a lot because his voice could melt ice cream.

“So,” she began, turning the chair so that she was standing directly in front of me. “When you go into the private room, he’ll be in a chair, or on the couch. Your performance should begin as soon as you enter the room. First, walk slowly, purposefully, your eyes locked on him. You can look him up and down, your face conveying that you like what you see, that you think he’s hot … Even if you don’t, but always bring your eyes back to him and maintain eye contact. Once you get a few feet away, touch yourself. Push your hair back off your shoulders, run a hand down your body, casually brushing against your breasts, but not lingering. Tease him.” Ginger began to mimic her instructions as she spoke. She walked up to my chair, stopping once our legs were close enough to touch. “The music will begin, then, do what feels natural. Let the rhythm flow through you, and move.” Ginger started swaying to an imaginary beat. Her hands roaming, pausing to cup her breasts and lift them, before trailing down and along her stomach.
I began to get uncomfortable, and was sure I was blushing, but Ginger kept talking. And moving.
“When you can tell he’s turned on, and you’re ready, straddle him.” She put her hands on my shoulder, leaning in so her hair brushed across me, as she lifted herself up and over me. She kept her hand on my shoulder, but pulled back enough to look down at me, then she began to move. “Be careful to get close enough that he can feel the heat of your body, without actually touching him. The guys aren’t allowed to touch us, Big Mike will make sure of that, but you want to give them the illusion of sex.” Ginger began to writhe back and forth, swaying her hips and causing her breasts to bounce perilously close to my face.
I suddenly realized this was the most action I’d had in twelve months.

Reider’s eyes adjusted to the low light in the corner of the Vegas resort’s bar easier than most. Truth was, he preferred the dark to the mid-day sun beating down on the Vegas strip.

He wrote off the twisting knot in his gut to the fact he was in Mojave territory. Borders never bothered his brother much, though. Everything about the desert gave Reider the urge to run, as fast as two—or four—legs would carry him.

Like he had six months ago.

As certain as he was Geoff would be here, he’d only picked up light traces of his scent in the lobby and near the elevators. Not in the corridors of the hotel near his favorite suite. He hadn’t been on the casino floor in the recent past either. No trace of him in the high rollers room.

And last—but not least—no trace of him here, in the Lilly Bar.

Confusing, but Reider had to believe it had been a long while since Geoff had been at the Bellagio, and hadn’t gambled when he was there.

He flipped the envelope over. It was sealed with green wax in the shape of a large claw.

They’d been on Reider’s trail for nearly a week.

Until now, he’d been able to stay one step ahead of the condescending ruling body.

He slipped the edge of his thumb under the wax stamp. Sliding the matching card out, he flipped it open and read the words scrawled in red ink.
