 Excerpt

Rhiannon

The darkness in the car did little to soothe the heat that clutched my body.

Sterling’s nearness made me want to run my hands through his thick black hair and pull him toward me and kiss his lips. To feel them move across my neck—

“What are you working on now that the Malibu series is complete?”

“Hmm.” I pulled my gaze from Sterling’s lips and looked out into the night.

“I’ve been drawn to Venice,” I said.

“Ah, that explains the look of surprise when I told you where I lived. You should come down. You could even stay with me, for your work, if you wanted.”

If Sterling were feeling the same kind of heat I was right now, staying with him at his house would quickly turn from being about my work to more about our desires. We both understood the truth of that.

“I could show you around. Venice has changed since we were kids. Do you remember when we’d spend the day down there?”

“I do.” The warm days on the sand with Sterling beside me with our hands clasped and his lips on mine. The press of his body. He was bigger now—the difference between a boy and a man. Fuller. Larger. His eyes flicked from the road to me.

“What are you remembering?” His voice was lower.

“Our days and our nights.”

The muscle in his jaw flinched. The memories played out for him too. He took a tight curve then slowed and turned into the dirt drive that led to my mother’s ranch.

“Would you like to see my work?” I asked as the headlights crested the final hill. “Go past the house. Mama is letting me use the guest house as my studio.”

Alone. Sterling and I would be alone for the first time since I’d returned from Europe. My breath shortened and heat pooled between my legs. My breasts ached in anticipation of his touch. There was heat in his eyes when he looked at me; surely he saw the heat in mine. He parked and we entered the little adobe

house. I fluttered ahead of him toward the kitchen, no longer so certain of what I wanted or needed from Sterling. He walked with an effortless grace. “Wine?” I asked from behind the kitchen counter.

“Please,” he said.

His gaze landed on the far wall that reached up to the skylight. I’d added more pictures of Venice. My canvas rested near the pictures, but it was still empty of color. I hadn’t committed, not yet. Sterling examined the canvas and then walked closer to the wall.

“Your photography is good too,” he said.

I walked to his side, glasses of wine in my hands. His eyes turned from the wall to me, and heat simmered in his eyes. My tongue chased out over my lip and words clutched in my throat. Sterling. This was Sterling Legend, now a man, no longer a boy and I was now a woman, no longer a girl.

I held a glass of wine out to him and he plucked both glasses from my fingertips and set them on the table beside my canvas.

“I’m not here for the wine, Rhiannon. I’m here for you.”

He slid his hand to the back of my neck and pulled me forward. Our gazes locked and his blue eyes, the shade of the California sky, heated with desire. Then his lips were on mine. With his kiss came a rush of desire and passion. The air burst from my lungs with the press of his lips. A slow moan rolled from me. He

was familiar and yet different. His tongue brushed against the seam of my lips and my mouth opened to his. Our kiss grew greedier. His hand shifted from the back of my neck and his fingers trailed across my throat and stopped at my breast. He

cupped me and a moan escaped my throat. My hands clasped his shirt and I tugged upward. My fingertips brushed across his skin. Where once Sterling’s skin had been bare, there was now a trail of hair from his belly up toward his chest.

He pulled his mouth from mine. His hand clasped both sides of my face.

“Oh my God Rhiannon, I still, you still, I can’t—”

“I know.”

The heat in my chest and between my legs gave way to a low ache. My desire for Sterling was hotter than ever now, due to our long absence from each other. His eyes searched mine as if for confirmation that it was truly me that he kissed. That I was here, with him. Surprise and uncertainty flashed over his face.

He did not surrender to his fear. He took a step forward and pressed his lips to mine. There was no hesitancy. Any doubts were replaced with a determined desire that we shared.

Sterling’s hand pressed the thin straps of my dress over my shoulders and his fingertips roamed over my bare chest. I pulled his shirt off his body. I wanted to see him. Needed to see him. His chest was solid and his skin a light gold color. The planes of his chest gave way to the hard quilted muscles of his stomach. A tiny trail of black hair dusted past his belly button.

I locked my gaze with him and reached forward to his jeans and quickly unbuttoned and unzipped them. A memory of unzipping Sterling’s jeans rushed through my head. I pushed his pants past his hips and he took them all the way off.

He stood before me, his maleness hard and alert. A bolt of heat rolled through me.

His was a perfect body. The beauty of the male form aroused and waiting for entry. I pressed the tip of my finger to the head of his cock.

He sucked air over his teeth. “Rhiannon.”

My name on his lips was part warning and part need. The sound aroused me and the wet I felt between my legs grew. His arms hung at his side but his gaze was locked with mine. I grasped his cock at the base and stroked upward with a

long pull. A stroke that sent trembles through him. His arm reached out and he clasped the back of my neck. With his other hand he clutched my breast and he leaned forward and his lips took my nipple into his mouth. He rolled the tight bud

over his tongue. My head fell back and I surrendered to the waves of pleasure. His other hand slid down my belly and into my panties. The hot nub he’d yet to touch pulsed and throbbed with desire for him. His fingers entered my fold and pressed

against my clit and I struggled to breathe.

“Sterling.” Desire overcame me and I lost the rhythm of my stroke on his cock. I held him in my hands while his lips and fingers pleasured me. He lifted me.

His stride was long as he walked toward the bed on the far side of the room. He settled me onto the white duvet and his hands clasped my hips and he rolled the panties off my body. He gazed at me.

“Each night before I fall asleep I see this. I see you like this. Lying naked before me, waiting for me. For seven years, Rhiannon, I’ve waited for this.” My heart burst open with his words. There was an ache and a need and all kinds of questions in his words that, in this moment, he didn’t ask. For this, I was thankful. There would be time for me to explain and to tell him all the details

of why I had to leave, but right now, I wanted him to slake our desire. I wanted Sterling to pin me to the bed and make my body come over and over again. I wanted to be his in a way I’d never experienced with any man. His hands started at my breast and he trailed them down over my belly and to my wet folds. He pressed his fingertips to my center and all the while his

eyes remained fixed to mine. His fingers circled and pressed my clit, and my hips bucked upward toward his hand.

His mouth grasped my lips and his tongue caressed mine and then he pulled his lips from me. A moan came from my mouth and mourned the loss of his mouth on mine. His lips, hot yet slow like liquid heat, trailed down my neck and across

my breast while his fingers caressed my clitoris. His fingers pushing and pulling with the rhythm of my hips following his touch. His lips kissed over my belly to the edge of my sex. His tongue trailed up my thigh and then down. He knelt before me, parted my legs, and placed my each of my knees over his shoulders. He looked up over my mound and met my eyes. A

deep want, a need, claimed his face. I couldn’t breathe. I held myself so still and waited for his touch. The touch of his finger, the touch of his tongue, and then a stroke of heat from his mouth that nearly sent me over the edge. He roamed up the inner left side of my cleft and around the most sensitive of spots without fulfillment, without a suck or a kiss. Sterling was between my legs and about to send me over the edge. His finger slid into me and my muscles bore down. I was so wet, so molten, so ready for his hard thick maleness.

“Please, Sterling,” I begged, my hips moving and rolling. I could not remain still, I could not contain my want.

“Rhiannon, be patient, we’ve waited a long time for this moment.”

And then with the words barely from his lips his mouth was on me. Hot and fierce and demanding. His tongue caressed my clit while his mouth sucked.  One finger, now two, pulsed in and out of my body. My hand found his head and I clutched him. My hips bucked wildly into his mouth. The light shattered around me, and his eyes met mine one final time. I crashed over the edge and cascaded into shattered bits of light from the pleasure of his mouth on me.

I clutched him and I went over the edge again and again and again. My body jerked and spasmed with his stroke. I shuddered one final time and Sterling pulled his mouth from me. He appeared satisfied. Pleased that he’d brought me so much pleasure. I was heavy-lidded and wet and sated and yet I wanted him. I wanted him inside me. My eyes roamed over the hugeness of his cock. His lips pressed to mine and I tasted the earthy goodness of me on his lips. My hands grasped him and his breath became uneven. He pulled his lips from mine.

“Rhiannon, we don’t have to, we can wait—”

“We’ve waited seven years,” I said. “We’ve waited long enough.”

 Kelley’s Review

Maggie Marr does it again!  I am totally addicted to this series.  I fell in love with Sterling in Broken Glamour and was super excited to find out Maggie was writing his story.  I am wondering who will be next.  Webber perhaps?

The Legend family has all kinds of skeletons in their closets and demons they are battling.  The head of the Legend family, Steve Legend is a huge box office action star. When I think of Steve Legend I think of Steven Segall or Sylvester Stalone.  These guys bring big bucks and big investors to movies as well as extremely popular leading ladies.  Sterling is the son of Steve Legend and has lived in his father’s shadow for most of his life.  Sterling and his sister Amanda decide it is time to honor their mother’s dying wish and produce a movie from a script that their mother had written during a very happy time in her life before she became ill.  The Lady’s Regret becomes Sterling’s passion and the one thing he can do to make his mother proud.  The problem is his father refuses to help him transform the script into a movie and threatens to have him blacklisted all over Hollywood if he does.  The other problem is Tom Bliss the man who co-wrote the script with Sterling’s mother and his refusal to give Sterling more time to cast the roles.  Maggie masterfully weaves a tale of love, betrayal, and deception between Tom, Steve, and Steve’s former wife Joanne.  This was a plot twist that I never would have expected to exist.

Rhiannon just happens to waltz back into Sterling’s social circle after seven years of being gone.  She left one morning without saying goodbye and moved to Paris.  All Sterling could remember was how much he was in love with her back then and how could she have just up and walked away especially after his mother had passed away.  She was the last thing that he needed.  He had spent years trying to forget her.  However for better or for worse Rhiannon was in California to stay but would she stay with Sterling?

Rhiannon can still remember the time she spent with Sterling like it was yesterday.  She was only fifteen years old then but knew in her heart that there was no one else for her.  She is afraid that she can’t give Sterling the stability that he needs and she is also harboring some secrets that would be devastating to the Legend family if they were ever leaked.  How long could she hold on to Sterling and keep these secrets hidden from him without destroying herself?

I love the glitz and glamour along with the gossip, rumors, lies, and truths that Maggie weaves in this story.  She writes these amazing characters that bring to life what life is really like living in Hollywood behind the scenes.  The chemistry between Sterling and Rhiannon is scorching hot.  When Sterling finally lets go and gives himself to her again it is explosive.

If you like love stories that are about finding the love that you once lost you will love Fast Glamour.  The Glamour Series is one that you most definitely will want to add to your bookshelf.

“What is that?”
Adrian’s voice startled me. For a second, I was disoriented, the dream clinging to me as it always did. Yes, I was in a car, but I wasn’t the unknown woman driving away from her baby. That wasn’t real. The glare Adrian leveled at my chest was, though.
“Is that a mirror?” He sounded horrified.
I looked down. My locket was open, the mirrored side facing me. At some point while I was sleeping, I must’ve opened it. Adrian’s hand shot out, but this time, I was too fast for him.
“Don’t you dare,” I snapped, holding it out of his reach. “It’s the only picture I have of my sister after you left everything I own back at that hotel in Bennington!”
He lunged again, actually letting go of the steering wheel to reach the side of the car where I held it. With a sharp yank, he wrested the locket from my hands. I tried to snatch it back, but he shoved me into my seat with one hand, finally grabbing the steering wheel with the other.
“Are you crazy?” I shrieked. “You could’ve gotten us killed!” If this hadn’t been a lonely stretch of desert road, our careening into the next lane might’ve had permanent consequences.
“You’re going to get yourself killed,” was his chilling response. Then, still pinning me to my chair with that single hand, he held my locket up.
I gasped. Something dark poked out of the small mirror, like a snake made of blackest smoke. It disappeared when Adrian smashed the mirror against the steering wheel, but an eerie wind whistled through the car, ruffling my hair and stinging my nostrils with its acrid scent.
Adrian muttered a word in that unknown language, and I didn’t need a translator to tell me it was a curse.
“What was that?” My voice was hoarse.
He threw me a pitying glance, which frightened me even more. If he wasn’t angry, we must really be screwed.
His next words proved that. “Brace yourself, Ivy. You’re about to meet a demon.”

Kelley’s Review

The Beautiful Ashes is a very unique story about love, trust, and betrayal.  Jeaniene Frost delivers a lot of angst along with a little bit of spice in this read.

Jeaniene takes a biblical story that just about everyone knows and puts her own spin on it.  Remember David and Goliath?  Imagine being sent into the demon realm as the last living Davidian to steal the sling shot that was used to kill Goliath.  Jeaniene takes an ordinary girl and makes her extraordinary.

Ivy is just your regular girl next door trying to track down her twin sister Jasmine that had been missing for a few weeks.  Her parents were trying to do the same when they had a terrible car accident and their lives were lost.  Ivy is more determined than ever to find her sister after the accident.  She had a bad feeling that something was not quite right.  She had always been able to see things that others did not.  She never spoke of it because people would think she was crazy.  She never would have guessed that her ability to do so would be the thing that she needed to find Jasmine.

Adrian is of Judas’s line and knows that his destiny includes the betrayal of the last Davidian.  He was raised in the demon realm and when he found out all that he was missing out on, he was angry.  He hated that demons has tricked him for so many years into believing that the human realm was just as bad as the demon one.  The one thing that everyone could trust about Adrian was his hatred of demons.

When fates collide and Adrian is sent on a misson to help a young girl named Ivy escape the demons that are following her, you can only imagine how distruaght he becomes when he finds out she is the last Davidian.  As time passes it only becomes harder as Adrian finds himself falling in love with her.  He knows deep down his destiny is to hurt her so all he can do is force himself to stay as far away  from her as he possibly can.

Fate really sucks sometimes because Ivy finds herself so drawn to Adrian too.  She begins to believe that there is no way that he can betray her when he shows up time and time again and saves her.  But, when the time comes and Adrian is put in a compromising position will he save Ivy or himself?

Jeaniene does an excellent job developing the characters in this story.  Ivy is smart and strong and readers will find that they can identify with her easily.  Adrian will steal your heart but also keep you wondering when the ball is going to be dropped.  If you like reads with a lot angst that keep you on the edge of your seat you will enjoy this read.  I really enjoyed the unique storyline that I could relate to being read the story of David and Goliath as a young child.  She really takes and puts an interesting twist on things and in the second book Ivy will be looking for a new weapon that is just as powerful as the sling shot. If you are looking for a new paranormal romance series this is it.  I am anxiously awaiting book two.

Maddox

I drive home in comfortable silence. I don’t think I’ve ever been content with comfortable silence with a woman before which is just another reminder of how Avery is different from everyone else. She doesn’t feel the need to talk all the time for the sake of talking.

As we start to approach the city limits of Rivers Edge, I start to wonder what I should do next. If this was any other girl, I’d drive back to her house with no hesitation whatsoever and take her inside. But this is Avery, and like I said, she’s different.

So, I thought maybe we’d stop by my house for a bit if that’s okay with you. This way, someone like Jake doesn’t see my truck parked in your drive and make trouble.” Even to my own ears, I sounded a little nervous as I said it. What the hell? It’s not like it’s my first time taking a girl home. Then it hits me. It is the first time I’m taking a girl home; to my house. I always go to their place. But the thought of Avery in my house, my bed, just feels right.

That sounds good,” she says with another shy smile. I love that smile; it’s filled with happiness and innocence. I turn off Main Street and head down Lincoln towards my house. When I reach my house, I pull into the drive and kill the engine. I hop out and walk around to her door. When I open it, she seems slightly hesitant, maybe even nervous.

I can take you home if you want.”

No,” she quickly throws out there. “I want to be here…with you.” There’s that damn smile again. I extend my hand to her and help her down from the truck and head inside.

When we step inside the dark recesses of my living room, I start to walk towards the lamp but she catches me by the arm, stopping me. I turn to look at her. The only light in the room is what moonlight is filtering through the window. Standing there in my darkened living room, light glowing off her blond hair, she looks stunning. She extends her hand up to cradle my cheek, her other hand runs up my abdomen from my stomach to rest on my chest. I step closer to her, looking deep into her eyes. She must have realized she was holding her breath because she lets out a big breath which comes out a little shaky. I look deep into her crystal blue eyes, and that’s when I see it. Lust. Desire. Trust.

My resolve shatters like a glass vase with that one look as I push her back against my front door. Our lips are urging each other on as our desire for each other completely takes over. She runs her tongue down my neck, and I almost come completely undone in my pants like a teenage boy by that one simple move. I cradle her ass in my hands and lift her up. She threads her legs around my waist, her hands diving into my hair. I lean against her, pushing her back into the door, and she moans. It’s the sexiest fucking sound I’ve ever heard and all I can think about is being deep inside her, making her moan over and over and over again.

I press hot kisses along her chin, down her delectable neck and lick the spot where her pulse is rapidly beating. “Tell me to stop, Avery. Tell me to stop right now and I will. But if you say nothing, I’m taking you back to my room and burying myself deep inside you. I’m going to make you come and scream my name. All. Night. Long. Tell me you want this as much as I do.”

I want this,” she whispers without hesitation and that’s all I need to hear.

Kristyn’s Review

Avery is the only girl in a family with four older brothers. She is the baby who has been pampered and loved since the moment she was born. Her brother’s couldn’t protect her from everything, however. At 19 she found herself pregnant and alone. Her boyfriend was a cheating douche bag who had been sleeping around for a while.
She was determined to make the best of her situation and despite dating another cheating loser she hoped she would find the man that would be the perfect father to her daughter and the perfect husband for her.
Maddox is the best friend of Jake, Avery’s oldest brother. Avery was always off limits but that didn’t mean that he didn’t notice her or want her for himself. For years he pushed away the attraction knowing that if he ever acted on it he would get his ass kicked by Jake.
Avery had a crush on Maddox for a while. She figured he would never see her as anything other than his best friends little sister so she never acted on her feelings.
But then he kissed her (again) and couldn’t deny his feelings for her anymore. He had never been in a real relationship and wasn’t sure that’s what he wanted. He just knew that he had to be with her, spend time with her. Slowly and steadily Brooklyn and Avery worked their way into his heart until he couldn’t deny that they were what he needed to make him happy.
Trust Me is a wonderful book about going after what you want and trusting in the strength of another person even though it’s hard when you’ve had nothing but bad past experiences. Avery and Maddox have such a powerful connection and an attraction that even threats from older brother’s could stop. The family unit in this book was strong and entertaining. I can’t wait to see what happens to the next member of the Stevens clan.

Prologue

Dante Stark lifted his hands and pressed palms flat against the windowpane. Trees bent to the will of the storm, and the sky remained dark and unfriendly overhead. Rain streamed down in misty rivulets, pattering the glass. The chill soothed the sting of his skin, but he was used to the burn and barely felt the discomfort anymore.

It was over.

Of course, it had barely begun. A few dates. The promise of something more. Her smile was sweet, her demeanor gentle, but after a few evenings of him disappearing with no explanation, the foundation was already beginning to crumble. She stared at him with wariness now, the slight frown marring her brow as if she now greeted a stranger.

And she did. Because the half-truths he had to tell to keep his secret always got in the way. It seemed everything in his life was both a blessing and curse—the women he began to care for turned suspicious and pulled back. It was the price he had to pay to keep the dark legacy that some might see as a gift. Perhaps, it was. But right now, it didn’t feel that way.

Dante dragged in a breath and leaned his forehead against the smooth glass. He couldn’t do this to himself any longer. Or to them. He needed to accept the truth about his destiny.

He would always be alone.

It was safer. Kinder. No more hurt or false promises. No more lies. Loneliness, yes. But loneliness he’d always been able to handle.

He clenched his fists, refusing to wince at the soreness. This time, he’d do things differently. Inferno Enterprises was close to opening, and he’d planned to take a CEO position, hoping to bury himself in the blessed void of hard work. But his instincts warned him the move could be dangerous. He’d be in the spotlight, and would need to be involved in constant meetings, travel, and deal with the press. If he wanted his secret to remain safe, he had to stay on the sidelines. A place where he wouldn’t be noticed, yet able to keep an eye on everything.

A humorless laugh escaped his lips. He was about to launch a billion dollar Property Empire and couldn’t even claim it as his. God, life was cruel.

“Playing the brooding billionaire again?”

The mocking voice behind him made him groan. “I’m not in the mood, Chase. Leave me alone. How the hell did you get in here anyway?”

“My extra key. I sensed you needed an intervention.”

“Go away.”

Chase chuckled. “So you can cry against the window and rage about your fate in life? You disappoint me.”

Dante lifted his head. Damn. “Even you can’t deny me a few minutes of misery. Not only did I fail at another attempted relationship, but I’ve got to hand my newest corporation over to you.”

Chase studied him from the shadows. His friend was the only one who knew about his secret, and the only person in the world Dante trusted. They’d been working together for years, with Chase taking the lead as the face of the company while Dante was able to stay in the background. Most of the executives and financiers only knew Dante as a name on paper, but Chase was the main contact.

“Sara was never right for you,” Chase said. “You need a woman with some fire.” Dante raised a brow and his friend laughed. “Sorry for the metaphor.”

“You always sucked at creativity.”

“Not my forte. I’m better being the Alfred to your Batman.”

Dante laughed and turned from the window. “You’ve never cooked or cleaned in your life.”

“True. And you don’t have any cool machinery either. Kinda boring. But at least I’ll get to play with Inferno. I’ve already got my eye on some of the hotties we hired.”

Dante shook his head. “Work and play don’t mix, and we both know it. Keep to the clubs you like to frequent.” With his streaky blonde hair, light blue eyes, and smooth charm, Chase was a magnet to women and enjoyed them all. Many times in multiple pairings. His sexual escapades were widely known and he never lacked for partners. Dante envied his freedom and ability not to care.

“You’re no fun. I’m the symbol of discreetness. Maybe if you got laid more often you wouldn’t try to ruin my happiness. And theirs.”

“Maybe if you didn’t get laid so much you’d have a better shot at holding down a real relationship.”

Mock hurt carved out his elegant features. “I have real relationships. They begin each evening and end at dawn. Besides, it would be selfish to limit myself to one woman. Too many would miss out on the incredible opportunity for multiple orgasms.”

Dante grinned. “Why do I bother? Just concentrate on getting Inferno launched successfully.”

“Of course. Is my office cool?”

“Yes. A wet bar, exercise room, and a private bedroom. Mahogany desk, like you requested.”

“Excellent. While I’m enjoying the benefits of CEO stardom, where will you be?”

Dante rubbed his forehead. There was only one place he could assume a role where he knew everyone, everything, and was still invisible. “The mailroom.”

Silence fell. Then Chase burst into laughter. “Oh, this is too good. You’ll be delivering mail while I’m in the executive suite. This is poetic. You really are a fucking superhero.”

“Screw you. I’m still the owner and your boss. Now get your ass to work and out of my apartment.”

Chase was still laughing when Dante walked away. Maybe it was better this way. He’d lay low, be the eyes and ears of Inferno, and not have to worry about any mysterious disappearances or suspicious questions.

Yes. It was better to be alone.

Blake Knight, known to the world as cold and without a heart, is given an exclusive membership to Relinquish Control by his devilish younger brother, who thinks it would be amusing to make his staid brother squirm. Little does this brother realize that Blake does indeed have unusual desires that Relinquish Control can cater to perfectly. What started as a joke turns out to be just what Blake needs. Though the world sees this man as deliberate and emotionless, it’s nothing but a façade. What lies underneath would shock all those who know him.

The image has been burned into their minds, though they’ve tried to forget, leaving each of them guarded and unwilling to give their trust to anyone other than each other. No one is allowed to have their hearts. The brothers would never think of letting down their guard with anyone else, certainly not with a woman.

Follow Blake and Jewell’s journey and see if they can find a happily ever after…

Annessa finished her brownie, licked her fingers, and then reached for a napkin. “Let’s get this party started.”

Verity nodded in agreement. “Who was in charge of entertainment?”

“Me.” Annessa’s sly grin almost made her wish she hadn’t asked. “Any requests?”

She raised an eyebrow. “Did you call a stripper?”

“No. That’s what started the trouble last time.”

Lexi frowned. “I though Tequila was responsible.”

“That too,” Annessa mumbled. “This time, I planned a scavenger hunt.”

“That sounds fun!” Lexi sat forward in her chair, obviously intrigued. “Did you warn the neighbors?”

“No.” Annessa grabbed several cards from a table beside the sofa. “I highly doubt the neighbors will have the items on this list.”

Verity accepted her card from Annessa and then read the items she was supposed to collect: a badge, a helmet, a pair of men’s boxers or briefs, a baseball bat, a twenty dollar bill, and a slice of chocolate cake.

Severely competitive by nature, she knew without a doubt she could commandeer each and every item on her list in less than fifteen minutes. Explaining how to her friends, however, would take more than forty five. Time stood still as she attempted to wrap her brain around the minute possibility of giving up before the game began.

Finally, she cleared her throat. “How on Earth am I supposed to get number three?”

Annessa leaned down to read the list and then grinned while she straightened. “Surely you know someone who will hand over his boxers.”

No need to hand them over, there was an extra pair in her dresser drawer – a fact she refused to share with the other women. Instead, she attempted to turn the tables. “I see an unfair advantage here.”

“Don’t worry, Verity.” Lexi shrugged, obviously not as concerned about acquiring a pair of men’s underwear. “I’m in the same boat.”

Annessa raised an eyebrow. “Are you in or out?”

“I’m in as long as we agree that you and Vanessa have to ambush someone other than Dane and Casey.”

“Fine, but I have another stipulation. You can’t buy them, they have to come off a warm body.”

“You guys are always so much fun!” Lexi giggled and stood.

Annessa cocked her head to one side. “Travis hasn’t given you the steer clear of the Dupree twins warning?”

Verity laughed out loud and then immediately realized she’d given them a wealth of information. A shiver crossed her neck when Annessa moved her gaze directly into hers.

“He warned you, huh?”

“He might’ve mentioned something like that.”

“Oh, really? When?”

Vanessa swallowed hard and held her ground. “He carted me out of McGill’s the same time Casey did you, remember?”

“He did, didn’t he?” Her friend simply nodded. “Better you than me.”

“So, how long is this hunt going to take?” Vanessa gestured at the kitchen. “I don’t want the pie to burn.”

“We each have six items to collect,” Annessa explained. “I say we meet back here in an hour. The first one to return with all her booty wins.”

Still hesitant, Verity rubbed her card against her palm. “What’s the prize?”

“Well, if you’re lucky, you’ll find your own prize. But at far as the party is concerned, you win bragging rights.”

“For what?”

Annessa’s mischievous grin returned. “Talking a man out of his boxers.”

“I’m taking the pie out.” Vanessa headed for the kitchen. “I’ll finish cooking it when we’re done.”

Annessa lifted her wrist and glanced at her watch. “Synchronize your watches, ladies. As soon as Vanessa returns, the game begins.”

 4 star readKristyn’s Review

Verity Thomas and Travis Dupree have been sneaking around behind their friends back for a year. Verity wants to keep their relationship a secret, and Travis just wants to keep her. Travis keeps their relationship a secret biding his time for when she is comfortable with outing their relationship to their friends.
Verity is the victim of a relationship gone bad. Her ex-boyfriend Richard blames her for his stint in jail and he threatened to kill her. Verity is understandably jumpy especially when Richard gets out of prison and shows up in her town. He calls her and she gets mysterious gifts. She spots him in town several times and can’t help but be afraid of what he is doing there.
Travis knows something is going on with Verity. He overheard her receive a phone call that upset her but he knows how much she values her privacy so he doesn’t ask. Travis gets a mysterious note hinting at knowledge of his relationship with Verity and goes into anaphylactic shock a few minutes later. This scare is enough to convince Verity to tell him the truth about Richard and her fear of him. They also come clean about their relationship and discover that everyone already knew. Apparently they weren’t as good at keeping secrets as they thought.
Verity and Travis have a good relationship despite the secrets. Travis is an understanding guy and knows that keeping Verity means dealing with her issues and helping her get passed them. I love that Travis is so aware of Verity and isn’t in denial about her or his feelings for her. Their relationship might be discreet but it isn’t any less important or real to them. A book loses points for me when the relationship falls apart because of honesty and I love that their relationship was built on a good foundation. They had an understanding about each other and built up to the trust and truth. Their relationship felt authentic and realistic.
The suspense of the book was a bonus. The mystery of who was behind the threat to Verity had a nice twist. Their were just enough hints to make you wonder and the build up was great. This book had great timing and flow. I really enjoyed this book. I can’t wait to read more from Mia Dymond in the future.

Guest Post

Greetings from the hot and humid state of Oklahoma!  My name is Mia Dymond and I write sexy contemporary romance novels with a twist of sass. I currently have fourteen novels available on retailers including iBooks, Barnes & Noble, Kobo, Amazon, and Smashwords.

My most recent release is Cross My Heart, Book 2 in the Heroes of Seaside Point series.  This novel is the story of Verity Thomas and Travis Dupree, who were introduced in Book 1, Tattoo My Heart.  To bring you up to speed, enjoy an excerpt from Tattoo My Heart:

Travis breathed a sigh of relief when his hands hit the nearest wall, preventing him from falling flat on his ass, still not quite sure why he stumbled in the first place.

“You can’t go in there.”

At the sound of a sultry, soft-spoken voice, he glanced down between his arms and noticed he now caged an all-too-familiar beautiful creature. A waterfall of long, black hair framed the fair-skinned beauty with sleepy, glazed eyes.

“Verity? What the hell are you doing here?”

“Vanessa’s getting married.”

He lifted one hand and ran it through his hair, grinning at the hiccup and giggle that followed her response. “How much have you had to drink?”

She dismissed him with a wild wave of one dainty little hand. “Not much.”

He snickered at the next hiccup that left her mouth and ran his knuckles down the side of one smooth, porcelain cheek. “I think you’re mistaken.”

A soft sigh left her plump, pouty lips as she rested her head back against the wall and blinked several times in rapid succession as if she could clear the haze from her incredibly sexy midnight blue eyes. Eyes so blue they were almost black in the heat of passion.

“In fact,” he said as he lowered his head, “I’d say you’re pretty drunk, Doc.”

Before he could stop himself, Travis pressed his lips to hers. Her eyes widened and he prepared for a struggle. Instead, she draped both arms around his neck and split his lips with her tongue.

His cock hardened when a breathy moan left her throat and her full breasts caressed the surface of his chest. Out of desperate need, he moved his hands from the wall and slid them beneath her shirt to palm each one, plucking her peaked nipples with a thumb.

“Travis, please.”

Her whispered plea traveled the length of his dick as she thrust her breasts further into his touch. Suddenly, logic and promises evaporated into thin air. He smashed his hips against hers, aligning his greedy cock with what he knew to be a warm, wet treasure. Another whimper vibrated his lower lip and then she ground against him. Up and down, then side to side with some sort of cock-strangling hip roll thrown in.

His scalp tingled as her hands left her neck and tunneled in his hair, her fingers winding in the strands, pulling and squeezing with each lazy roll of her hips. Ah, damn, if he could find the strength to release her breasts, it would only take seconds to lower his zipper. And only a few more milliseconds to cram himself between her legs and take them both to Heaven.

Or hell.

His dick screamed in agony while he groaned out loud and gently separated their lips. “Verity baby, this is dangerous.”

“Don’t care.” Her hands left his neck to cup the bulge in his jeans.

“You will tomorrow.” With his dick now cursing, he moved her hand to his mouth and pressed a kiss to the palm.

“Fine,” she mumbled.

He straightened her top and motioned with his head at the ladies room door. “Is Van the only one in there?”

She nodded and swayed to the left.

“Whoa.” He grasped her elbow and lowered her to the floor. “Sit right here.”

“That’s the ladies room.”

“Yeah, so?”

She placed both palms against the floor and attempted to move her legs underneath her to stand. “So, I’m a girl. I’ll go.”

Travis snickered. Girl? No, Dr. Verity Thomas might be female, but she was no girl. She was a full-blown, swallow-your-tongue incredibly beautiful woman. The one woman whose brilliant mind, as well as her amazingly sexy body, held his divine interest. And the one woman who insisted they keep their association quiet.

He gave her shoulders a gentle push until her sweet little ass kissed the floor. “Then I’d have to carry you both out. Just make sure no one comes inside behind me.”

“Oh please.” She rolled her head to one side and snorted. He bit the side of his cheek to keep from grinning at the obvious alcoholic-induced noise. “I’m a doctor. I know how much I can drink before my body is affected.”

He squatted in front of her and took her chin in his hand. “Sweetheart, you might be the doctor, but take it from me, your body is definitely affected. And if you’ll tilt your eyes downward, you’ll see just how affected mine is at the thought of you losing control.”

I hope you’ll enjoy Cross My Heart!  Happy Reading!!!

Kelley’s Review
Holy Hell!  This book will blow your mind and then some.  I read it a while ago because I had the honor of Beta Reading it and it has stayed with me.  I nominated it as one of the best debut novels of the summer at Romance at Random.
This book is so different because it starts out with a woman scorned who is the villain in the story but also the hero.  I have never met a character like Ella.  She has a plan to ruin Damon Hunt after the pain that he caused her sister.  She practices her technique on other men until she has perfected it and then she acquires her target.  She is so close to accomplishing her mission and finds herself falling for the bad guy.  What?  No!  That was not the plan.  Now her heart is involved.  No wonder this man had her sister tied up in knots.  But then everything arround her erupts and she comes to her senses and gets her head back in the game.  It is time to finish Damon Hunt.
Damon does not know what hit him when he crosses paths with Ella.  She is absolutely stunning and yet kind and sweet.  She is the first woman to listen to his problems and try to soothe him.  She is not after money or fame.  She just wants him and that makes him fall so quickly.  She was only supposed to stay a few days but he could not let her go.  He was finally seeing the light again.  With one turn of events things take an insane twist and his world is thrown upside down.  Chances are not matter what he does he has lost Ella forever.
I have been touring with Alicia and Natalie for about a year now.  These two girls are amazing bloggers from Island Lovelies Book Club.  Needless to say they have read and reviewed a lot of books.  I find it interesting when a blogger takes that step into the indie publishing world.  Since they have read amazing books as well as those one and two star reads, how do they plan to set themselves apart from the rest of the pack?  What kind of storyline could they come up with that is different from all the books that are out there?  Well let me tell you Damon and Ella’s story will turn your world upside down.  The storyline is very unique and Natalie and Alicia do an outstanding job developing their characters.  I have never met a woman like Ella and I am in love with this character.  She is strong and on a mission.  She is amazingly devious and her moves are very scripted.  She is the hero and the villain and I am anxiously waiting to see what she does in Warped.  Damon is gorgeous but carrying a lot of baggage. At the same time even though he is vulnerable, he also knows how to manipulate others in order to get what he wants.  This story will rock your world and you will walk away awestruck and reeling wondering what lies ahead.  I promise you that Corrupted is a read that you will not be able to put down.

 Synopsis

Book 1

I have no idea why she auctioned off her virginity for a cool mill. Regardless, I’m now the proud new owner of a perfectly intact hymen. A lot of good that will do me. I have certain tastes, certain sexual proclivities. My cock is a bit more discriminatory than most. And training a virgin takes finesse and patience – both of which I lack.

Sophie Evans has been backed into a corner. With her sister’s life hanging in the balance, the only choice is to claw her way out, even if that means selling her virginity to the highest bidder at an exclusive erotic club. When Colton Drake takes her home, she quickly learns nothing is as it seems with this beautifully troubled man. Being with him poses challenges she never expected, and pushes her to want things she never anticipated.

A sinfully seductive erotic romance where everything has a price and the cost of love is the highest of all from New York Times & USA Today bestselling author, Kendall Ryan.

Kelley’s Review

Holy Crap! Wow! Just Wow! Bravo Kendall!

I have read quite a few Kendall Ryan books and have really enjoyed them but would I consider myself a huge fan? Not really. That has all changed with one sweet and yet sinfully sexy read. Hot damn! I am going to be counting the days until Filthy Beautiful Love comes out.

Sophie is an amazing heroine. She is kind, smart, and selfless. She does what she has to because she loves her sister.

Colton is damaged and is carrying a ton of baggage from his last relationship, but Sophie gives him hope that not all women are like his ex.

The only problem here is that Sophie was purchased and there is no reason to believe that Colton has any real feelings for her even though he has been very kind and generous to her. Sophie has no idea that she has given Colton the hope of something better. But when Colton’s past collides with his present all bets are off and anything he might have felt for Sophie may very well be destroyed.

Kendall does an outstanding job with developing the characters in this story. I fell in love with Sophie almost immediately. Her innocence is endearing and intoxicating at the same time. Colton is the most kind and gentle alpha male I have ever read. He changes who he is into something he thinks Sophie deserves. I love the way the way this was written from a dual POV and we get to see what Sophie and Colton are each feeling and thinking. Kendall drew me in from the moment Sophie stepped out in the stage. I am highly anticipating the conclusion to this story in just a little over a month. Until then, I am sure I will find myself day dreaming about the mysterious Colton and what he has hidden in his closet.

Excerpt

Chelsea looked at the bed that dominated the room. The only bed. Somehow she’d managed to find the shitty motel that didn’t have two queens. No. It was way worse. It was a single queen and there was no couch. And she was pretty sure the floor was covered in disease. “I think I should sleep somewhere else. We need to find another room.”

Blue eyes stared a hole through her. Somehow his eyes managed to be cold and hot given his mood. The color shifted, lighter, icier when he was angry. As warm as the Caribbean when he was happy.

They often seemed so cold when he looked at her. “Your contact said to meet here. We’re staying here.”

“He told me to meet him here. I’m sure they have another room, Weston. You don’t have to sit up all night.” Because there was no way they could share that bed. It was too small. He would take up all the space.

He locked the door and set down his duffel bag on the table. He shrugged out of his jacket because the man wore a three-piece suit on the run. She couldn’t help but stare at his broad shoulders and the way his dress shirt tapered down to perfectly pressed slacks. He tugged at the silver tie he was wearing, pulling it free and working the buttons at his throat until she could see the start of his truly impressive chest.

God, she hoped she wasn’t drooling.

The shoulder holster was the next to go in his inadvertent striptease. “You should get settled in. We have to be up early in the morning. I’ll take the side closest to the door.”

He couldn’t be serious. “Simon, there’s not enough room on that bed.”

He threw that gorgeous body down, making the springs squeak. “Of course there is, love. You Americans just like to take up an enormous amount of space. When I was a child, my brother and I slept in beds much smaller than this.”

“I’m not your brother, Simon.”

“I understand that fully. Believe me.”

She needed to take charge or she would make a complete fool of herself. “Look, Weston, you turned down my offer.”

He turned lazily, one hand coming up to balance his head. He looked like a pinup in a women’s magazine—all lean and predatory lines. She could see the write-up in her head. Simon likes tea, Scotch and eating subs for breakfast. His turn-offs include everything that comes out of Chelsea Dennis’s mouth. “Are you talking about your very charming offer to use my body to lose your virginity?”

She hadn’t put it like that. “You don’t want me. I get it. So let’s keep things simple. I hired you. I’m the boss. I’m going to see if I can rent the room next to this one and that can be yours.”

He didn’t move. He didn’t have to. She saw the way his eyes narrowed and then his voice came out, low and in that perfect upper-crust British accent that made her nipples hard. Her nipples were really stupid and she wished they didn’t like him so damn much. “You’re under a grave misapprehension, Chelsea. You are not my boss and you did not hire me. You came to me with a problem and I told you I would solve it. I believe I also mentioned that I was in charge and that was the only way I do this for you. So you will take off your clothes and you will get into this bed and you will sleep beside me tonight. I explained this to you when you signed the bloody contract. Do I need to explain what the word submissive means?”

Tears pricked her eyes. He was so damn unfair. She had to wonder if she would ever find a man who didn’t want to punish her. “You forced me to sign that contract.”

Now he moved, rolling to the side of the bed and getting to his feet with pure predatory grace. “I did nothing of the kind.”

He seemed very willing to revise history. She wasn’t about to let him forget. “If I hadn’t signed your contract, you would have let me die.”

He sighed, a long-suffering sound. “I certainly would not and if you think that’s true then you don’t know me at all. Perhaps I should do exactly what I should have done in the first place, what I would have done if you hadn’t signed the contract.”

That was worse than letting her die. “Please don’t call Ian.”

His shoulders weren’t so straight as he turned and stared at her. “You’re reckless, Chelsea. If I give up even a moment’s control, I’ll lose you and I can’t stand the thought of that. The only way to save you is to be your Master and the only Master you’ll accept is not the kind I want to be.”

“And what kind do you want to be?”

“Indulgent. Loving. Kind. I want a sub who obeys me in the field because she understands I would never let anyone hurt her. I want the play to just be play. I want a sub who trusts me with her body, who wants me and not just some faceless Dom who’ll work her over and then walk away. And I certainly don’t want to be a curiosity.”

She felt embarrassment flash through her system. If she could take back that first night’s utter idiocy she would. She should have known he wouldn’t want her. Not like that. “I get it. I got it when you turned me down the first time. I can get into bed with you because you won’t touch me.”

He was suddenly in her space. He’d moved so quickly she wasn’t sure how he’d gotten there. One minute there was a bed between them and the next she was backing up until she hit the wall because he was stalking her. She’d gone as far as she could go, but he kept coming. He loomed over her, using every one of his six feet two inches. “I’ve tried to be polite about this, but you don’t want that, do you? You don’t want me to be a gentleman about this. You want me to take you because then you’ll bloody well get it over with and you can put me in the same box with all the other men who hurt you and used you and cast you aside. I would be just one more villain who did something to you.”

“I never said that.”

“You don’t have to. I understand you, Chelsea. You can’t comprehend that, but I do. I understand you like no other man will. So I understand that I have to explain certain things to you.” He moved closer until his mouth hovered above hers, his heat sinking into her skin. “I’m going to tell you how this is going to go. We’ll get into that bed and I’m going to put my hands on you and I’m going to put my mouth on you. I’m going to taste you. I swear by the time you get out of that bed in the morning, you’re going to know what it feels like to come against my tongue. That screaming you heard as we walked in, you’re going to make that girl’s orgasm sound like the squeaking of a mouse. But the one thing you won’t get is my cock. You won’t get that because I’m not going to take your virginity because you’re curious. I’ll take it when you can’t think about anything but me. I’ll take it when you cry out my name and tell me there’s no other man you’ll ever love the way you love me. Then and only then will I take what belongs to me. Am I understood?”

She managed to nod.

He took a step back and she immediately missed his heat. His hands went to the buttons on his shirt. “Then take off those bloody clothes and get in bed.”

With shaking hands, she started to undress.

5 Star Read

If there was ever a series that needed to be made into a movie or television show it is the Masters and Mercenaries series by Lexi Blake.  The action, suspense, and intrigue will keep your knuckles white as you grip your e-reader eagerly anticipating what will happen next.  Lexi is masterfully writes a new genre I call James Bond BDSM.  Her heroes are sinfully sexy and hot alpha males and the women they fall for are strong, highly intelligent, and quick witted, and sexy as hell.  I absolutely adore the fact that Lexi’s heroines are not skinny but are full of luscious curves that their men can’t get enough of.

I have been eagerly awaiting Simon and Chelsea’s story since Love and Let Die.  Simon has been such a mystery to me and Lexi unveils so many things about him that I would have never expected he experienced in his past.  I was amazed at how much in common Chelsea and Simon share with each other.  All of Lexi’s books in this series can be read as a standalone, however I might suggest that you will enjoy this story much more if you pick up Love and Let Die first.  That is the first book that Chelsea and Charlotte are featured in.

Chelsea narrowly escaped the Russian Mob a few years back only to find herself captured by her most unlikely enemy.  Chelsea is very well known in the cyber community as the number one hacker.  She can hack into any security system and for a long time she caused major chaos to several agencies just for fun.  Unfortunately her ability to do this put a mark on her head and it seems that Simon may be the only man that can save her besides her brother-in-law that she adorably coins as Satan.

Simon has had it bad for Chelsea since the moment she sucker punched him.  He has wanted to be her Dom and to play with her at Sanctum, but for Chelsea BDSM is all about pain relief, not love, and definitely not sex.  Simon can see the emotional pain she is hiding because he knows it all too well.  He just needs her to submit to him so he can show her how good things can be and that he will love her and care for her like no one ever has.  Chelsea is stubborn.  She has always made it on her own and does not want any help.  The only reason she came to Simon is because she has nowhere else to go and well, he the sexiest man she has ever known so she is a little curious what Simon would be like as a lover.  When Chelsea approaches Simon with her problem he sees it as the perfect time to get what he has always wanted.  A BDSM contract with Chelsea one that includes things she would never let him give.  Will she take him up on his offer or will she drag her feet to Ian and Charlotte for help?

If you like a lot of sizzle with lots of action and suspense you will love A View to a Thrill by Lexi Blake.  This is a book you will not be able to put down until you have finished it.  So get comfortable and enjoy this epic rollercoaster ride.

Cherished, A Masters and Mercenaries Novella, October 28, 2014

A doctor living a double life

By day, Dr. Will Daley is one of Dallas’s most eligible bachelors, but every night he dons his leathers as one of Sanctum’s most desired Doms. He’s sworn off looking for a long-term relationship but is captivated by the club’s newest member, Bridget Slaten, even though they couldn’t be more different. She comes from a world of privilege and he was raised in poverty. When he discovers she needs a date to her sister’s wedding, he makes certain he’s literally the only man for the job.

A woman no longer willing to live in the shadows

For most of her life, Bridget hid herself behind her laptop. She can write romantic, sensuous lives for her characters but not herself. Having Master Will as her date to the wedding is a thrilling prospect but he has a special request. He wants her to accept two weeks of his services as a Dom, a lover, and expert in BDSM, and that is an offer she can’t refuse. Their sexual chemistry is undeniable, but it’s in the tender moments that Bridget realizes she’s falling for a man who might never trust her with his heart.

A love strong enough to cherish

Together in paradise for a week, Will realizes he can’t imagine his life without Bridget.  As the wedding approaches, ghosts from their past come back to haunt them and threaten to ruin the peace they’ve found. With everything exposed, they will have to risk it all to claim the love that can set them both free.
