Excerpt

I didn’t want to hold back anymore. I wanted her to be mine again, body and soul. Cradling the back of her head, I drew her mouth toward mine and kissed her with all the desire I’d kept bottled up for all those weeks. Her lips were soft against mine but as eager and passionate as I slid my tongue into her mouth to find hers. When she sighed into my mouth, I couldn’t wait anymore. My hands clawed at the zipper down the back of her dress, but it got stuck an inch from the top. Aching to be inside her, I tore the two halves of the dress apart, ruining the zipper and the dress.

“Tristan, my dress!” she cried as I pulled it from her body.

“I don’t care. I’ll buy you ten dresses just like it,” I panted as I unhooked her bra and slid the first strap over her shoulder. “Same thing with the bra. And if these panties don’t come off easy, I’m going to rip through them too.”

Nina’s fingers tore through my shirt buttons until it hung open, and I quickly shrugged out of it. She was as desperate as I was to be out of those damn clothes. In seconds, she had my belt off and my pants and boxer briefs off my legs, and I had her pushed up against the wall. As I lifted her off the ground to wrap her legs around my waist, I pressed my forehead to hers and rasped, “I hope you weren’t expecting something slow and gentle. I can give you that, but tonight I don’t want to wait. I need to be inside you, Nina.”

Moaning, she pulled me close, but just then I remembered her sore ribs. Pulling back, I said, “I forgot about what the doctor said. Maybe we should go easy this time.”

She dug her heels into my lower back and pulled my mouth to hers in a
deep kiss. Her voice husky, she groaned, “Please, Tristan. I’m not a china
doll. I’ll tell you if something hurts.”

I gently slid just the head of my cock into her, still worried I might hurt her if I didn’t take it slow. My body was in agony wanting to bury myself inside her, but I didn’t want to risk bruising those already sore ribs. I could give her gentle, even if every part of me wanted much more. Nina pushed her palms against my chest and held me away from her. Worried I’d already screwed this up, I opened my mouth to apologize but she touched her finger to my lips to stop me.

“Don’t make me wait. I don’t want gentle now. I want you…all of you.” Her fingers pressed into the back of my neck as I plunged balls deep into her wet and willing cunt. Nothing in the entire world ever felt better than that moment when our bodies joined together as one again.

My Review

bigstock_Five_stars_Mesh_13933472

Rip my heart out and stomp on it and then stomp on it some more.  This story is not for the faint of heart and K.M. Scott better get Give Into Me out soon or I am just going to have to track her down and give her my cranky face.  Damn you Tristan!

cranky

All kidding aside, this book took me on an emotional journey with lots of twists and turns and surprises that were completely unexpected.  One minute things are great and the next they are not and at the end I felt like a blubbering idiot crying my eyes out.  I am in love with Tristan.  He is my favourite type of alpha male hero.  He is broken and damaged but still loves with all of his heart.  Nina makes him a better man.  She loves him because she sees that deep down he has a good heart even if he can’t.  Watching Nina and Tristan fall in love for the second time is breathtaking.  He is the perfect gentleman when he takes her out on a date and then becomes a scorching hot ravenous animal in the bedroom.  Nina becomes addicted to him from the start.  She falls so hard for him that when he tells her the terrible secret he is hanging on to she almost automatically wants to forgive him.  She never gets the chance because Tristan is a stubborn mule and determined to do things his way whether it is best for Nina or not.

If you enjoy sinfully decadent love scenes and an emotional storyline that will truly touch your heart then you will fall in love with Fall Into Me.

About the Author

melody grace

Melody Grace is the USA Today bestselling author of UNBROKEN and UNTOUCHED. A small-town girl turned SoCal beach-lover, she spent years with her nose in a book before deciding it was time to write them for herself. She loves bad boys, good books, and pistachio-flavored ice-cream.

**Special Holiday Interview with Melody Grace**

How did you decide that you wanted to be a writer?

I’ve always loved books and writing (I was the kid with my nose always stuck in a book), but it took me a while to work up the courage to sit down at the computer and try to write my own romance. I’m so glad I finally did, because that book became Unbroken. It’s been amazing sharing my stories with the world, and seeing how the characters have become a part of people’s lives, the way that they’re a part of mine.

Can you share with your fans a favorite holiday memory?

One of my favorite holiday memories was from when I was thirteen or fourteen. I grew up with just my mom, and she always complains around the holidays about putting a big meal together, dealing with the tree, etc etc, so me and my sister decided that we were going to handle everything. She did the decorations, and I decided to cook this huge, complicated meal. Well, of course, it didn’t really go to plan: I ended up burning half the food, and making a huge mess, but I remember how much fun it was and how happy my mom was to see us try — and just sit on the couch with her feet up for a change! That was a fun year.

Melody Grace’s Five Fun Holiday Facts

Her favorite holiday movie – Serendiptity.
Favorite holiday food – Sugar cookies, and the sandwiches you get to make from leftovers the next day.
Favorite holiday song – Nothing beats ‘All I Want for Christmas is You’
Favorite holiday activity – I love going ice-skating, and to a carol service on Christmas Eve
Favorite place to celebrate the holidays – Anywhere with family and friends.

Over 3 million readers have fallen in love with the women of Kate Perry’s bestselling Laurel Heights series… Now meet her Summerhill sisters.

Summerhill, Book 1

Rosalind Summerhill is on the verge of becoming the next Vera Wang, as far away from her family and their drama as she can get. The last thing she wants is to leave San Francisco for London, especially not to deal with her father’s latest scandal—dying in his mistress’s arms. At least she can find comfort in knowing she can leave after the memorial.

Little did she know.

Not only is her father’s will missing but, according to his lawyer, her mother will lose everything if it’s discovered. Reluctantly joining forces with her sisters to seek and destroy the will is the only way of ensuring her father doesn’t win in the end.

Enter Nick Long, the one bright spot about being in London. Nick’s everything she’s ever dreamed of in a man—supportive, eager to help, and bone-meltingly hot. But Nick’s motives aren’t as pure as they seem, and the secret he’s keeping may tear Rosalind’s family and fortune apart.

4.5 Stars

Kate Perry delivers a sweet and seductive story with a sassy alpha female heroine that will have you laughing and blushing with her brashness.  Rosalind Summerhill is not shy about going after what she wants.  She is feisty, smart, and sexy wedding dress designer that is sought after by many women.  Rosalind is extremely talented when it comes to making a brides dreams come true but, is not so savvy when it comes to her own.

Nick Long is a formula 1 race car driver that is ready to retire and settle down.  His friends think he is crazy because he is too young to retire.  When his sister Summer concocts this crazy scheme in order to get closer to the Summerhill family, he finds that he can’t tell her no, and before he knows it everything goes to hell in a hand basket.

I loved the banter between Nick and Rosalind.  Say You Will  feels like a historical romance set in modern times.  You are experiencing a family whose history spans generations and are learning about their customs and family rituals all the while the Summerhill women are on their cell phones sending text messages and surfing the web.  This story was very unique and I was pleasantly surprised by the historical aspect of it.  I also loved how Kate developed the supporting cast and I can’t wait to read Portia, Summer, Viola, Immogen, and Bea’s stories.

If you are a modern girl who likes a little piece of history and royalty to go along with your romance then you will love the Summerhill Series.

Gabriel’s Redemption by Sylvain Reynard Blog Tour + **Christian Louboutins Giveaway**

81dk0WssSmL._SL1500_Synopsis

From the author of the New York Times bestsellers’ Gabriel’s Rapture and Gabriel’s Inferno comes the epic conclusion to the captivating romantic trilogy.  Professor Gabriel Emerson has left his position at the University of Toronto to embark on a new life with his beloved Julianne. Together, he’s confident that they can face any challenge. And he’s eager to become a father. But Julianne’s graduate program threatens Gabriel’s plans, as the pressures of being a student become all consuming. When she is given the honor of presenting an academic lecture at Oxford, Gabriel is forced to confront Julianne about the subject of her presentation—research that conflicts with his own. And in Oxford, several individuals from their past appear, including an old nemesis intent on humiliating Julia and exposing one of Gabriel’s darkest secrets. In an effort to confront his remaining demons, Gabriel begins a quest to discover more about his biological parents, beginning a chain of events that has startling repercussions for himself, Julianne, and his hope of having a family.

My Review

bigstock_Five_stars_Mesh_13933472A beautiful conclusion to a heart-wrenching and riveting series.  I didn’t think I could fall in love any more than I already was with Professor Emerson, but Gabriel’s Redemption proved me wrong.  Gabriel stole my heart over and over again in this story. With his naughty promises, possessiveness, and need to be Julia’s knight in shining armour, he  became the ultimate book boyfriend.  Julia and Gabriel’s story is one of truly unconditional love.  This story takes you on an emotional roller coaster ride hoping that Gabriel and Julia will be strong enough to make it through all the obstacles that are placed in front of them in order to reach their happily ever after.  Julia teaches us that true love is for better, and for worse, forsaking all others. She gives Gabriel all of her heart and makes me want to be a better person.

Gabriel’s redemption picks up where Gabriel’s Rapture left off with Julia attending Harvard in pursuit of her Ph.D. as a Dante Specialist and Gabriel teaching at Boston University.  Julia is putting heart and soul into her studies leaving very little time for Gabriel and her family.  Gabriel deliciously reminds her that they are newlyweds and often persuades her to break from her studies. I was pleasantly surprised to see Richard, Rachel & Aaron, Scott, Tammy & Quinn, along Tom & Diane reappear in this story.  They celebrate the holidays with Gabriel and Julia and all have drama of their own to deal with.  This book would not be complete without the reappearance of Christa and Paul.  Paul will always have a place in my heart.  He is a good guy that truly does deserve happiness.  I would take him home to mom and dad in a heartbeat.  I would love to see a spin off or short HEA for Paul. And yes Gabriel still hates Paul with all of his being.   Christa on the other hand is the girl everyone loves to hate.  She shows up at the worst possible time and bears her daggers once again.  Still, in the end I feel sorry for Christa.  It seems as if she will be doomed to a life of heartache and pain.  There are a few other characters from the past that make appearances as well and cause all sorts of problems that I would have never expected.

My heart fills with sadness now that this series has come to an end.  Sylvain Reynard delivers an enchanting ending to a sinfully delicious and beautiful love story.

About the Author

I’m interested in the way literature can help us explore aspects of the human condition – particularly suffering, sex, love, faith, and redemption. My favourite stories are those in which a character takes a journey, either a physical journey to a new and exciting place, or a personal journey in which he or she learns something about himself/herself. I’m also interested in how aesthetic elements such as art, architecture, and music can be used to tell a story or to illuminate the traits of a particular character. In my writing, I combine all of these elements with the themes of redemption, forgiveness, and the transformative power of goodness.  I try to use my platform as an author to raise awareness about the following charities: Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep Foundation, WorldVision, Alex’s Lemonade Stand, and Covenant House. In charming Verily, New York, Kate Seymour has a smashing success with Kinnections, the matchmaking service she owns with her two best girlfriends. But Kate’s more than a savvy businesswoman: She’s gifted with a secret power, a jolting touch that signals when love’s magic is at work. It rocked her when she picked up a strange volume of love spells in the town’s used bookstore . . . and it zapped her again when she encountered Slade Montgomery, the hot-tempered— and hot-bodied—divorce lawyer who storms into Kinnections demanding proof that playing Cupid won’t destroy his vulnerable sister, Kate’s newest client. The only way to convince this cynic that she’s no fraud, and that love is no mirage, is for Kate to meet his audacious challenge: find him his dream woman. Can Kate keep their relationship strictly business when her electrifying attraction nearly knocked her off her feet? Or has the matchmaker finally met her match?

Review

bigstock_Five_stars_Mesh_13933472Sweet, Sexy and Seductive.  Searching for Someday takes you on a emotional journey that will have you laughing, crying, and dare I say, quite sexually frustrated.  By the end of this journey you will be hot and bothered by Slade “Sexy Pants” Montgomery.  The man is like ice cream on a stick that you want to lick slowly over and over again.  He is so cold but when he and Kate kiss, that ice around his heart gets a jolt of electricity that causes is to begin to melt.  Kate is sinfully seductive and she doesn’t know it.  She is a tender hearted soul who is caring and kind and is looking for a man that can offer her all of his heart and soul to her.   Slade believes that feelings of love are a by-product of oxytocin that is released after sex.  So why did she just feel the undeniable spark for the sexiest divorce lawyer in town who is dead set against ever finding love?  Her senses must be wrong because there is no way in hell that Mr. Sexy Pants is her soul mate.

This book was such a fun and sexy read.  The witty banter between the characters was fabulous and kept me rolling with laughter. While the scorching electricity between these two made my temperature rise and my cheeks blush.  Yes, this book has some steamy sex scenes that have you looking around you, to make sure no one is watching you while you are reading.  I love that characters from the marriage series make a brief appearance in this book.  It was fun to see Maggie and Alexa, if only for a moment.

Jennifer delivers a deliciously lustful love story with a sinfully sexy alpha male, and a seductive, yet stubborn, alpha female.  I can’t wait to read the next book in this series.

Review

4.5 Stars

A sweet and seductive love story. My heart was on a roller coaster ride from the start. This story is so different then other romance novels I have read. There is still spice and heat along with some very steamy sex scenes, however there is also realism that reaches in and grabs a hold of your soul. This is not your easy peasy HEA. This is an ugly nasty divorce. He did not just have to sweep her of her feet. Instead Mike and Alyssa became a united front and had to work at their relationship.

I fell in love with Alyssa because she was so kind and caring and really loved Michael with all her heart. But, my heart cried out for Tina because I know what it is like to have the one you love swept away by someone else. I felt that Michael was really a good guy that just did not use good judgement and his son Sammy made my heart break.  Divorce is really hard on kids and Sammy was a trooper. The author did an excellent job telling this story and showing how love can blossom even in the worst circumstances.  Going home again is a real love story that is gritty and heart wrenching to the core.

Clutch_TessOliver_v3

Synopsis:

When Taylor Flinn’s parents shipped her off to an aunt for her last year of high school, James “Clutch” Mason had convinced himself it was for the best. Taylor, the wild, impulsive and far-too-appealing seventeen-year-old had been driving him nuts. Her school girl crush on him had been the last thing he needed. Now he had time to concentrate on his booming classic car part business, his new found love–drag racing, and keeping his twenty-year-old brother Barrett out of trouble. But when Taylor returns from her aunt’s more grown up, utterly seductive, and attached to another guy, Clutch realizes that the only thing he ever needed or wanted was Taylor Flinn.

Excerpt

She came around the corner, unexpectedly and like a hurricane of stars. My mind went completely blank. I hung up and stuck the phone in my pocket.  Taylor’s long lashes curtained her smooth cheeks as she dropped her gaze.  The adrenaline rush left behind from getting my hands on a sixty-five Shelby morphed into an explosion of every emotion I’d ever felt. I lunged forward and grabbed her hand. She gasped as I dragged her around the back of the building. I pressed her up against the bricks and stared down at her.

My Review
bigstock_Five_stars_Mesh_13933472
What girl does not love a story about strong and sexy mechanics that restore classic cars and drag race them?  This story was smoking hot from the very start.  Clutch is a handsome viking that has huge heart that made my heart swoon. He has the whole package if you know what I mean.  Taylor is a sexy vixen that Clutch has denied himself for far too long.  She may have been out of sight but was never out of his mind.  Clutch’s first smoldering kiss with Taylor in over a year had my heart racing and my face flushed.  The chemistry is so sizzling hot between Clutch and Taylor that I had to pour myself a glass of ice water to bring my temperature down.  Whew!
I immensely enjoyed this book so much that I had to see if Tess Oliver had written any others in this series.  I was so excited to find Nix and Scotlyn’s story that I bought it right away.  Another review to come Tess Oliver.  Bravo on a job well done.
If you like hot sweaty mechanics and forbidden love you will immensely enjoy clutch.

Christmas Catch by Chelsea M. Cameron Review + **Giveaway**

ChristmasCatch_Teaser1

Synopsis

Two years ago, when Ivy Emerson bailed from the tiny fishing village she’d grown up in to go to Columbia, Sawyer McCallister was the only thing she was sad to leave behind, and she still didn’t look back. But when her mother guilts her into coming home for Christmas, she crashes headfirst into Sawyer, who’s also returned after being away.

Now that they’ve both been dragged back to Saltwater, Maine, they might just realize it’s where they belong. Together.

 Excerpt

“Need some help?” This is not happening.

I turn around slowly. The first thing I see is a truck I haven’t seen since high school. The second is the guy I haven’t seen since high school.

“Ivy?” His hair’s a little longer, and his face is a little leaner. He looks . . . older. But his eyes. They’re still the same.

“Sawyer,” I whisper, because I can’t believe it’s him. What the hell is he doing here?

A car drives behind Sawyer, honks, and he waves them on. The two of us are frozen, unable to move. At least I am. He recovers first.

“I have a chain in the back. I can get you out of there.”

“Okay,” I say as he pulls in front of my car and then gets out. He seems taller, but that can’t be. He’s wearing a thick blue Carhartt jacket, torn jeans and work boots. He moves to the back of the truck and gets a chain out, which he hooks to the tow hook on the back of my car and then to his truck. He hasn’t said a word.

“Okay, get in,” he says and I get back in my car. With a minimum of revving of his engine and mine, we get my car out of the ditch. I get out to thank him.

Instead, I say, “What are you doing back here?” He wraps up the chain and doesn’t meet my eyes.

“My dad died,” he says as he tosses the chain in the bed of the truck. “Bye, Ivy.” And as quickly as he appeared, he’s gone, and the only remnant of is being here is the cloud of exhaust from his truck.

I slump against my car and raise my head. Snow is just starting to fall, melting as soon as it hits the pavement.

This goddamn town.

My Review

Some say love can be an addiction. Others say it’s the thing that makes life worth living. Let me tell you everything I know about love…Love isn’t patient, love isn’t kind. Love is a game, a chase. A thrill. Love is wild and war-like, and every man and woman must fight for themselves. At least that’s how it was for me. A high-priced virgin call girl by the time I started college, I was addicted to love and to sex. Even though I’ve never had either. I controlled love, played it, and held the world in the palm of my hands. Then I fell down from those highs, and I’m being blackmailed for all my mistakes, forced to keep secrets from everyone, except the only guy I don’t regret.

Trey…

With all the other women, I knew what they were. They were temporary. They were pills, they were bottles, they took away all the pain, and numbed the awful memories that wore down my ragged, wasted heart. Until I met Harley. She’s the only girl I ever missed when she walked away. But now she’s back in my life, every day, and there are no guarantees for us, especially since I don’t know how to tell her my secrets. What happened to my family. All I know is she’s the closest I’ve ever come to something real, and I want to feel every second of it.

How can you love with no regrets when regret is all you know?

She parts her lips as if she’s about to say something, then stops herself. She looks down, breathes out hard, then takes a sip.

“What is it?” I ask softly.

“Is it because they were easy or you were so good?”

I bite my lip for a second, trying not to let her question make me all crazy inside for her. But I am that way. Even more so because she’s blushing now. Red is rushing to her cheeks in splotches.

“You think I’m good?”

“Yes,” she says in a breathy voice that sends a buzz through my whole body.

“But you knew that.”

I shake my head. I did know that. But I don’t know that either. I don’t know anything with her. I don’t know what’s real and what’s a game.

“I didn’t know that,”

I say, and maybe I’m lying, but I can’t help it.

I want to hear her say it, even though this is the riskiest thing to do in the world. To tread on this territory of us, of the almost-sex we had. I’m already burning up, I am hot all over.

She raises her eyes, meets my gaze.

“You know what I told you that night. I mean, I don’t have anything to compare it to –“

I cut her off. “–Good.”

“But I’ve never let anyone do that to me before.”

She said that the night we were together. It made me feel electric all over hearing it from a hot girl I wanted to have a one-night stand with, a last fling before I went on the wagon. Hearing it now, knowing her, understanding her, being privy to all her deep, dark secrets is the biggest fucking turn-on of my life. I’m dying for her to touch me right now, even though I know we won’t go there, but I want it so badly. I want to feel her hands on me, I want her to unzip my jeans and do something about how fucking uncomfortable I am right now with my dick straining hard against the fly.

“Yeah?”

I say in a hoarse voice because I can’t manage sentences, much less coherent thought. I can’t move either, because if I shift an inch, I will lunge at her, pull her under me, and fumble at all our zippers to get our clothes off. And I can’t, can’t, can’t do that to her. She’s a virgin, and she’s messed in the head, and if I take her virginity because she winds me up with a few words then I am more of an ass than those pathetic men who hired her.

“I told you that, Trey,”

she says softly, and there’s something about this moment that feels like a confessional, like she needs to tell me these things, like she has to say them.

“No one has ever made me come. I’ve never let anyone touch me. I never wanted to be touched. I never even knew what it would feel like to have someone do that,”

she says and licks her lips, and I am dying. Completely dying right now. My hands are twitching, and I grip hard on the beer bottle, so hard I could break it, but I have to hold onto something, because all I want right now is to touch her. The whole living room is burning, the space between us is hot and humming and full of all this hazy desire I feel, and it’s taking over my body, my brain, my heart, and the air between us. If I weren’t already sitting down, I might collapse. Because this feeling is knocking breath out of me. It is staggering.

“Harley,” I say in a low voice.

“Trey, what happened last night?

5 Hearts

heart arrow

The Thrill of It is a sinfully dark and heart wrenching love story unlike anything I have ever read before. I am still feeling the aftereffects of the roller coaster of emotions I felt while reading this story. The Thrill of It pierced my soul and left me shaking. This is unlike any of Lauren’s other books.

From the very beginning my heart breaks for Harley. She is beautiful on the inside as well as the outside even though she doesn’t believe it. I kept asking myself how she got herself in such a horrible situation. This book is written to where the events that led to the current situation are not revealed until the end. This kept me on edge and gripped my heartstrings. I did not want to believe what I was reading. This could not be happening. How could it?

Trey was a mystery to me. Is he a good guy or a bad guy? Why is he drawn to Harley? She is so young and he is into older women, not 19 year old virgins.  It frightens me to the core that he is going to break her heart. Trey is seriously damaged and is broadcasting his pain through the tattoos inked on his body. He is holding on to horrible memories that are tearing him up inside and he will not let anyone in.

Then there is Cam. He is like a slime ball used car salesman that you want to hate, but at the same time you feel sorry for him. How could he stoop so low?

The chemistry between Trey and Harley is scorching hot. Harley experiences pleasure like she has never known before. Trey’s dirty thoughts get my heart racing and my panties wet. Look out ladies you may need to break out B.O.B. when you read what is going through Trey’s dirty mind. Lauren hits a home run in seduction once again.

In the end, can true love survive between Trey and Harley when they are so irrevocably damaged? I sure hope so. We will just have to wait and see…

Synopsis

Brian Sullivan has been in love twice in his lifetime. He lost his first love to early-onset Huntington’s, and he lost the other more recently…to his brother. And somehow, his heart has managed to heal itself after both. Amazingly, without therapy. That doesn’t mean Brian hasn’t gotten more wary along the way, however. In fact, he’s been thinking lately that maybe his brother’s now retired nothing-but-flings rule isn’t such a bad idea. Unfortunately, being the nice guy poster boy and all, he isn’t exactly versed in the fine art of flings. So he looks to the outrageously ‘unique,’ provokingly button-pushing Tessa Daniels for a crash course.

There’s absolutely no way he’s falling in love with this one…right?

Tessa has no idea what she was thinking telling Brian that she was some sort of fling expert. She’s never been flung before and she sure as heck doesn’t know where or how to begin flinging a guy like Brian. It was a temporary lapse in sanity, really–no doubt because of the can’t-help-but-fall-for-him brain fuzz that hits her whenever he’s around. Not only does the man have her being more herself than she’s ever been in her life, but he’s the only person she knows who seems to have as many demons and skeletons in the closet as she does. What’s more, he’s got her thinking of the one thing she stopped letting herself even hope for years ago.

A happily ever after.

“Babe we can’t,” he somehow managed to punch out.  Voice gravelly, he drew his hands back to safer territory and said roughly, “You’re hurting and your emotions have gone through the wringer tonight.  I can’t take advantage of you like that.”

And yet still, he couldn’t bear to let her go completely.

“Then don’t,” she replied simply, arms twining around his shoulders.  “Let me take advantage of you.”

Jerking back to put some head-clearing distance between them was about as painful as ripping off his own skin.

“Sweetheart, why don’t we just hang out tonight?  We can sit and talk more about those dickheads we ran into tonight if it’ll help, or we could just watch a movie…anything you want to do.”

He quickly snatched her wandering hands as they traveled down his lats and started tugging at the hem of his t-shirt.  “Anything except that,” he groaned.  “Work with me here, woman.”  Raggedly, he put his forehead against hers and counted to ten to try and find the tattered remains of his restraint.

The thought almost made him laugh.  Who was he kidding?  He had no restraint when it came to Tessa.  By the fifth second, his lips had already found their way back to hers.

And goddammit if her whole body didn’t just tremble right there in his arms.

She was just so mind-wreckingly responsive.  As usual, without even trying, she was driving him batshit crazy.

Tapping into a reserve even he didn’t know he had, he broke off the kiss and took another step away from her.

Then he watched in sad disbelief as her expression became completely shuttered a half an instant later—closing him out behind the walls of a now ten-story castle and a moat filled with fire-breathing piranhas.

The lightning quick response time of her defenses was a punch to his gut, a tragic reminder of how much she’d been through, how hard she’d had to fight to not let it all destroy her.

“Look Brian, if you don’t want to, you can just tell me you know.  I just thought we had something and we could have a great night exploring it.  But hey, I’m a big girl; you don’t have to make excuses to let me down easy…”

He gave her a look that said he wondered about her IQ before grabbing her hand and dragging it over the zipper of his jeans.  “Does that feel like I don’t want to?”

Her eyes widened, and her grip closed tight around him.

Bourbon soaked shards of glass went hissing down his throat.  “For chrissakes, stop.”  The blood supply in his brain was dipping down to a dangerous low.

And the damn temptress was clearly all torn up about it.  He glared at the smile she was biting back. “I’m glad you find this so amusing.”

“It’s not amusement, it’s relief.  Here I was thinking it was just me getting affected with my perpetually wet panties around you and all.”

A seriously pained groan escaped him then.  “To preserve my sanity—and your panties—don’t use the word wet in any more sentences tonight.”

She sighed.  “I really don’t know why you’re making such a big deal out of this.  It’s just sex.  I’m not looking for anything serious.  You heard Gavin earlier this evening.  Being the ‘good girl’ was never exactly my thing.”  She brushed up against the hardening ridge tenting his jeans to drive home her point.

With a muttered curse, he clamped one arm around her waist and tangled his free hand in her hair.  “Sweetheart, this thing between us is a big deal,” he said roughly, tugging gently on her hair and nearly losing it when she arched her back in response.  Her fitted tee was so paper-frickin’-thin.  One sharp yank was all it’d take to rip it right down the middle.

Jesus Christ, he needed to find some control.

“Whether this thing between us lasts one night or ten, when, and yes I said when we have sex, I’ll make damn sure that every single second of it seeps into your bones, burns into your memory, and turns into a relentless craving that makes you forget all the assholes from your past.”  He ran his lips along the thrumming pulse at her throat.

“And if I’m really lucky, it’ll also help ruin you for all other men completely.”

My Review

Does true love only come once in a lifetime? How can you do everything right and still end up with a death sentence? Do you run and hide or do you love life to the fullest?

Brian Sullivan has done everything right. He was the rock his wife Beth needed when she was diagnosed with Huntington’s Disease (HD). He stood by her even when she did not remember who he was. He is now the sole caregiver for his daughter Skylar and she is showing signs of having the horrible disease his wife fought for years. He really believed that Abby was the one for him, but she chose his brother Connor in the end. They are still really good friends, but it is not the same. He is so lost and lonely..

Tessa has done everything right. She took care of her sister and father when their HD was at its worst. She worked several jobs to keep them afloat and pay for their medical bills. Her mother walked out on them and left Tessa to pick up the pieces. She loved her family with all her heart and would not have given up her time with them for the world. She has never allowed anyone to get close to her for fear of losing them someday.

What happens when Brian and Tessa cross paths? Will each of them find the one person that can complete them? Could they have another chance at true love? Nobody else understands what it is like loosing someone to HD like they do. Or will this terrible disease drive a wedge between them and keep them from ever loving anyone again?

Violet does an excellent job teaching the reader about this terrible disease and the toll that it takes on the person that has HD as well as how it affects their friends and family. She shows us in this story that no matter how much time you might think you have on this earth, that you should live and love to the fullest. This book had me sobbing at one point and laughing at Tessa and her quirkiness that drove Brian mad. Brian is such a caring, kind soul and to top it off is smokin hot. He is an alpha male warrior when it comes to Tessa. I think his character might be have been inspired by MVD if I had to guess.

This book is about taking chances on love and living life to the fullest even in it’s darkest hours. If you like a hero and heroine that are willing to fight for each other and can beat the odds then you will love this wonderful love story.
