Welcome To The Point Series-Book 1

June 17, 2014

Synopsis

New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Jay Crownover returns with a heart-stopping new series… Welcome to the Point.

There’s a difference between a bad boy and a boy who’s bad . . . meet Shane Baxter.

Sexy, dark, and dangerous, Bax isn’t just from the wrong side of the tracks, he is the wrong side of the tracks. A criminal, a thug, and a brawler, he’s the master of bad choices, until one such choice landed him in prison for five years. Now Bax is out and looking for answers, and he doesn’t care what he has to do or who he has to hurt to get them. But there’s a new player in the game, and she’s much too innocent, much too soft…and standing directly in his way.

Dovie Pryce knows all about living a hard life and the tough choices that come with it. She’s always tried to be good, tried to help others, and tried not to let the darkness pull her down. But the streets are fighting back, things have gone from bad to worse, and the only person who can help her is the scariest, sexiest, most complicated ex-con The Point has ever produced.

Bax terrifies her, awakening feelings she never thought she’d have for a guy like him. But it doesn’t take Dovie long to realize . . . some boys are just better when they’re bad.

Michel’s Review

bigstock_Five_stars_Mesh_13933472

Better When He’s Bad is the outstanding debut book in the new series Welcome To The Point by Jay Crownover.

Jay Crownover is known for her bad boys. The Marked Men series has captured the reader’s hearts. She has taken her bad boys to a whole new level in the Welcome To The Point. These are men are the true definition of bad. They live on the edge in a very dangerous world. Their lives are lived on the wrong side of the law. Their world is cut throat, violent, and unforgiving. They make no apologies for their chosen path, they embrace the violent world, and stand tall in world where only the baddest survive. They do not want to change their lives. They will not change their lives. One can only hope they are on the right side of their lives, other wise you are just another bug to be squashed.

Welcome To The Point. Shane Baxter has lived in The Point all his life. He has embraced the violent world and learned to survive. He is a thief, a convicted felon, and a man with a vendetta. He is deeply connected to the criminal underworld and has paid a high price for that connection. He has spent the last five years in prison. He was set up and did the time. Now he’s out and he wants answers. He’s willing to take down any man that had a part in his incarceration, including his best friend.

On the day of his release, Shane is on a mission. First is to get laid, second is to find his best friend Race, third is to get answers and find out who turned him over to the cops, and finally to take down Novak, the ruling crime lord in the Point. What he didn’t count on was Dovey Pryce. She is the kind of woman Shane has avoided all his life. She is clean, pure, honest, and seemingly innocent. She is also his best friend Race’s illegitimate sister. Dovey is searching for Race as well. The two will have to team up to find Race before Novak, the cops, and the Point cash in their claims on his life.

Dovey and Bax will band together in a dangerous game. They will go up against some of the most evil players. Allies will be enemies. Enemies will be allies. The prize is Race. It seems Race has what each and everyone of them needs. He is the missing key to the Point.

Dovey and Bax will find there is a better prize in the end. They will accept their lives in the Point and make the most of what they have. The most important thing is that they have each other’s back.

Better When He’s Bad is more than a hot, steamy, and sensual romance. It is a gritty and edgy adventure that will leave the reader’s on the edge of their seats. It is fast paced and full of high octane action. The characters will capture the reader’s attention on the very first page and have them wanting more in the end.

This book is quite different from the Marked Men series. The characters are harder, violent, dangerous, and criminal. Jay does not try to redeem them or their lives. She gives an honest portrayal of their world and makes the story work. The villians will be hero’s and the hero’s will not get your typical happily ever after. The characters are not redeemed and do not change their lives in the name of love. They embrace their lives. There is good in every person and there is bad in every person. It is a matter of finding the perfect balance between the two and chosing a life that is better in their world. The title is perfect for this book….Better When He’s Bad.

Jay Crownover has wrote an outstanding book that will keep the reader’s captivated! I highly recommend this book and am looking forward to the next book in this series!

Certain something sinister has happened, Sara sets out to discover the facts, immersing herself in Rebecca’s life. Soon she’s working at the art gallery Rebecca worked at and meeting Rebecca’s friends. Finding herself drawn to two dangerously sexy men, the manager of the gallery and a famed artist, Sara realizes she’s going down the same path Rebecca took. Tracey’s Review

4 Stars

It all started with a journal. For Sara McMillan, finding journals belonging to the unknown Rebecca, opens up a whole new world. And once she starts down the path she’s discovered, there is no going back.

In ‘If I Were You,’the first book in the ‘Inside Out’ trilogy by Lisa Renee Jones, we meet Sara, a quiet school teacher that stumbles upon a bunch of journals that are being auctioned off with other items in a storage space belonging to a woman named Rebecca. The more that Sara reads of the journals, the more concerned she becomes with who Rebecca is, and what has happened to her. Determined to find answers, she sets out to retrace the steps that will lead her to Rebecca, and meets two men, Chris Merritt and Mark Compton, both strong and enigmatic men with ties to the missing woman. Exactly how they fit into Rebecca’s life, and, more importantly, her disappearance, is the question that Sara must unravel, as she finds herself becoming more deeply involved with both Chris and Mark.

I really enjoyed ‘If I Were You.’ I find that Lisa Renee Jones has done a great job weaving together a story that keeps the reader guessing as to what will come next. There are many secrets that are revealed, bit by bit, and they do not involve only Rebecca. Mark, Chris, and even Sara herself have hidden areas of their pasts, and finding out what makes each of these characters tick is extremely enjoyable. I look forward to reading Books 2 and 3 of this trilogy, ‘Being Me,’ and ‘Revealing Us,’ to find out how the rest of the story unfolds.

Being Me by Lisa Renee Jones

Being Me:

Sara McMillan is still searching for Rebecca, the mysterious woman whose dark, erotic journal entries both enthralled and frightened her. Tormented by a strong desire to indulge the demands of her new boss while also drawn deeper into her passionate bond with the troubled artist, Chris Merit, Sara must face a past as deeply haunting as Rebecca’s written words. In one man’s arms, Sara will find the safe haven to reveal her most intimate secrets and explore her darkest fantasies. But is safety just an illusion, when the truth about Rebecca has yet to be discovered?

Tracey’s Review

4 Stars

‘Being Me’ picks up immediately where ‘If I Were You’ left off. Sara, having taken Rebecca’s place as an employee at Mark Compton’s art gallery, is still anxious to find out where Rebecca has run off to. She has only Rebecca’s journals, and the details given by Mark and Chris Merritt, the two men that seem to know the most about Rebecca. Chris is also Sara’s lover, and both he and Mark have many dark secrets of their own, as well as a lot of animosity between them.

I felt like ‘If I Were You’ was a good story, and did a fantastic job of introducing us to the story and the characters. ‘Being Me’ is just as good, and the chemistry between Chris and Sara just keeps growing. The scenes between the two of them were hot! Chris is a VERY alpha man, and Sara is a woman who has been under the thumb of domineering men before, and who has vowed never to be owned by another man again. You can imagine that the sparks fly as they navigate their developing relationship.

Sexy stuff aside, Mark Compton is one hunk of hot alpha male himself. Answers to exactly how he fits into the whole story of Rebecca’s journals and her disappearance are revealed in this story, and, boy, will they leave you reeling. Let me just say that the action does not let up in this book.

I very much enjoyed this second installment in the ‘Inside Out’ series, and cannot wait to read ‘Revealing Us’ to find out how everything comes together.

bigstock_Five_stars_Mesh_13933472

So, we’ve finally discovered Rebecca’s secrets and Sara’s secrets, and found out the role that Mark Compton played in Rebecca’s life and disappearance. Phew! ‘Revealing Us,’ the third and final book in the ‘Inside Out’ trilogy, picks up right after all the action in ‘Being Me’ and continues with the story of Sara and Chris.

Having found out the mystery behind Rebecca’s disappearance, Chris and Sara leave San Francisco for Paris, the place that holds the key to all of the darkness that Chris continues to hide. But he has given Sara an ultimatum, ‘No in between,’ and so they are both committed to laying everything out in the open, even though they are not sure that their love will survive.

I just absolutely love Chris Merritt. He is that perfect combination of sexy alpha male and tender and considerate lover. You know that he’s hiding some heavy stuff, but you can’t help but pull for him and Sara to wade through his past and come out together on the other side. And finally, FINALLY, we get all of our answers here that have been playing out since the very first book. Except…yes, another cliffhanger, but not for Chris and Sara, thank goodness.

I absolutely enjoyed this whole series. Lisa Renee Jones has done an excellent job of laying everything out in such a way that I could not wait for each book so that I could pick up and find out what happened next. The epilogue in ‘Revealing Us’ does lead into a continuation of one of the sub-stories that ran throughout these three books, and I will definitely be ready for that story when it comes out. A great ending to a really good series, ‘Revealing Us’ gets five stars from me.

Kelley’s Review

bigstock_Five_stars_Mesh_13933472

Grab yourself a cold drink ladies because this little novella is smoldering.  I think I might need to catch something on fire so Smith can come over and put it out.

Burn For Me is an angsty love story filled with passion and hope for more.  Jamie and Smith have always been good friends and even though she finds him sinfully sexy she is reluctant to act on those feelings.  Why?  Well because ever other woman in town feels the same way and how can she compete.  She is also afraid of losing Smith as a friend.  They have an easy banter and she looks forward to seeing him every day.  If they were to become more than friends and he walked away it would crush her.  What happens when Jamie gets this crazy idea in her head about a friends with benefits scenario that would only last one week.  Could it work?  Could she give into the attraction and get Smith out of her system?  Maybe.

Smith is crushed that Jamie only wants him for one week.  He has been waiting for the opportunity to become more than friends for quite a long time.  His jaw drops to the floor when Jamie makes him this crazy offer.  He knows he only has one week to show her he can and will be the only man she will ever need.

Lauren once again does an amazing job with character development and while this story is a novella it reads like a complete novel.  She is a master at not rushing the ending and that is what I love about all of her books.

If you find a dirty talking fireman to be sexy as sin you will find yourself in lust with Burn For Me.

bigstock_Five_stars_Mesh_13933472

Nico meets Sweet Sophie when he finds her phone. And bam! That’s all it took to realize she was meant to be his. The only left he had to do was convince Sophie.

Sophie is new to the area and has problems being around people because of an incident that happened in her past. She has trouble being comfortable around people, but there is something about Nico that draws her in.

This book gives me all the gushy romantic feelings. If only men where like this in real life and just “knew” when you met them. And they were so dedicated to you. These characters are compelling and so amazing. Nico is a protector and Sophie is sweet and shy. They are the perfect balance of soft and hard. Wink Wink. The sex is steamy and the romance is sweet. I love everything about this series and cannot wait to read the next book.

Kiss My Sass (Primrose Minnesota Book 5)

Synopsis

St. Thomas + Army Ranger = Tropical Boot Camp.

Tucked in a tropical paradise, sixth grade teacher Marnie Carpenter has no idea how chaotic witnessing a wedding can be – especially with a groomsman obsessed with detail. Never mind he’s easy on the eyes and oh so sexy, he’s also bossy, domineering and entirely too structured for his own good.

Retired Army Ranger Ryker Adams readily accepts his assignment to attend his teammate’s marriage and learns the true meaning of DRAMA when he must call upon his specialty training to secure a certain unruly witness. A drop-dead gorgeous, tiny stick of dynamite wired for destruction, Miss Carpenter proves to be one of the most difficult assignments he’s ever undertaken.

Challenged at every turn, Ryker does his best to accommodate her independence while keeping her under thumb, an act that proves almost impossible. Yet, while sparks fly between them, the couple dodges both danger …. and desire.

Excerpt

“Actually, I’ve been thinking.” She squinted in the bright sunlight, attempting to get a fix on his mood.

He remained solidly in one place with his darkened shades over his eyes while the hard slabs of his pectorals and the firm ridges of his washboard abs glistened like a shiny new sports car. A model built for supersonic speed and ultimate comfort, one she could drive for miles and miles. Lord, he made a girl think wicked thoughts.

“I can pretty much guarantee I won’t like whatever it is you’re thinking,” he drawled.

So you say. She bit her bottom lip to prevent a giggle from escaping. The absolute last thing she needed was for him to discover how he affected her. It was bad enough he watched her constantly: those knowing bedroom eyes analyzed her every move, anticipated her reaction before she even had the opportunity to act. Not to mention how his big body crowded hers, not more than a hair’s width between them. She couldn’t move without creating so much friction that she was sure a fire would spark. The man was a mountain and no one moved a mountain.

“I need a night out.”

“No.”

She fully expected his disagreement, she just didn’t think it would take exactly half a second for him to voice it. Not yet deterred, she tried again.

“I’ll even let you come along.”

He didn’t immediately respond and she mentally crossed her fingers and toes that he would at least consider her request. Several more seconds passed and still he lay silent, his magnificent body soaking up the sunrays. Waves moved the water closer to the shore as she tried her best to wait him out. A classroom full of twelve-year-olds prepared her for confrontation; she could hold her ground in an earthquake if need be. Yet, the six foot plus giant refused to move and although it make take brute strength, she practiced great restraint from dumping him from the lounger and burying him in the sand.

Finally, impatience pushed her to reach the short distance between them to poke his rump roast of an arm with one finger.

“Hello? Are you even alive?”

His lips split into a panty-dampening smirk and he released a low chuckle. She gave an involuntary shudder and reminded herself she was annoyed.

“My answer stands. Especially after today.”

“I don’t need your permission.”

“No, you don’t.” He peered over the top of his lenses, his expression still shaped by that intimidating air of breath-stealing sexy male. “But mark my words, if you even attempt to cross me you won’t like the consequences.”

Her temper flared and urged her to cross him, partly to show him she wouldn’t allow his control, but mostly to discover those consequences.

She let a slow grin separate her lips. “What would you do, Ryker? Handcuff me to your side?” She moved her finger in lazy circles on his skin. “Or lock me in the house? You forget I deal with mischievous children daily. I can take you, soldier.”

Before she could bask in the confidence of her own ultimatum, one large heavy arm shot from his side, pulled her from the lounger, and rolled her on top of his solid, muscled body. She fought to breathe past the shock, her breasts pressing against the hot, hard wall of his chest with each labored movement.

“Now,” he said as he moved his hands to her hips, “let’s get something straight. If I cuff you anywhere, it won’t be to my body and I damn sure won’t lock you in the house.” He lifted his hips and the hard length of him settled between her legs. “No, I’ll lock the whole world outside, cuff you to my bed, and show you just how mischievous I am.”

Kelley’s Review

4-Stars

Kiss My Sass will take you on a fun adventure with a crew of sassy women who are looking for trouble.

This book was a really fun some read for me.  Marnie and Ryker have some serious chemistry and it is only a matter of time before each of them faces the fact that they are better off giving in to their attraction rather than fighting it.

How did Marnie end up with a bodyguard?  This is the fifth book in this series.  I consider it a semi-stand alone.  It can be kind of confusing figuring out why Marnie has a bodyguard if you did not read book 4.  So to catch you up in Tri Me a psycho stalker sets fire to Alex’s house and she ends up moving in with Marnie.  Ryker ends up working with Jackson to keep the girls safe while Jackson tries to hunt down the arsonist.  Even after they capture the creep Ryker insists that Marnie sill needs protecting which ends up being a good thing since the Mob is convinced that Marnie witnessed a murder and have put a hit on her head.

I laughed out loud a lot with this read.  The stunts these girls pull are hysterical and the men of course underestimate them.  If you like a lot of action, adventure, mystery and suspense combined with sassy determined women who find themselves in the most unusual situations you will enjoy Kiss My Sass.

Guest Post

Being a romance novelist is a dream come true …. Literally! I’ve been dreaming up stories in the recesses of my mind since forever. The characters in my novels are my closest friends and life there is relatively easy – I mean, I don’t have to worry about a job and if I have one, I’m successful; I schmooze with absolutely dreamy, hot, sexy men who, coincidentally, always save me from whatever dark cloud threatens to dump rain on me; and the ending is always happy. What more could a girl ask for?

Back in the real world though, I am truly enjoying my journey as a writer. I decided to write quite by accident when I began reading romance novels in my early twenties as a means of escape from the everyday chaos of work and routine. Then one day I had an aha moment (actually it was a duh moment). Somewhere, somehow in the middle of an absolutely wonderful novel, the urge to write my own hit me. Eight years later, here I am. Now not only do I satisfy my need to escape, I strive to offer my readers the same.

Borrowing Trouble by Becky McGraw Blog Tour + Review + *Giveaway*

Borrowing Trouble (#12, Texas Trouble)

Carrie Collins has been trying to hold it together for three years, since her husband Sean was killed in the line of duty during an undercover drug operation gone bad. If that and the mountain of bills she was left with weren’t bad enough, her son becomes mixed up with the wrong crowd at school. Carrie feels like a failure as a mother, and does the only thing she can think of to fix things, she goes back to her parent’s ranch.

Her dead husband’s best friend, the man accused, but later exonerated of, Sean’s murder shows up at the ranch with his new wife and offers her a break from the kids and the craziness of her life. Carrie is reluctant to accept, but he won’t take no for an answer. She goes to the R & R Ranch, but doesn’t find relaxation there. What she finds is a tall, charismatic ex-rodeo cowboy who not only ties her emotions in more knots than his lasso, he wakes up her dormant libido.

Carrie fights the attraction, because the last thing she needs is a man like Dylan Thomas in her life, a tumbleweed kind of guy who tells her in no uncertain terms he isn’t looking for a relationship. She knows her kids deserve better and so does she. Her kids aren’t there though, and the temporary fantasy he represents becomes too much to resist.

Dylan Thomas wants nothing more than to return to competitive bull riding after an almost career-ending injury landed him at the R & R Ranch teaching rich greenhorns to ride bulls. A year and a half of catering to those wealthy snobs has him bored and restless, until a curvy brunette convinces him it might not be so bad to hang around for a little while longer.

Carrie Collins takes hard to get to an olympic-class level though, and it takes everything in Dylan’s bag of tricks to get close to her. When things finally heat up between them, he finds out there are a couple of things she hasn’t told him about. Like the two kids she has who show up at the ranch, and the job she has accepted there.

His temporary fling with the cute ranch guest suddenly gets a lot more complicated and permanent. Especially when former associates of her son turn up at the ranch demanding money she doesn’t have. Dylan knows then he’s borrowed a helluva lot of trouble he didn’t need in his life by getting involved with her, but when the opportunity to leave presents itself, how can he leave her in danger?

Tracey’s Review
4-Stars

Carrie Collins is a widow, and the mother of two headstrong kids. Her oldest, Chris, has been in all kinds of trouble since the death of her husband, and it’s taking its toll on her. Dylan Thomas is a former rodeo bronco rider. After an accident left him unable to do the work he loved, he hired on at the R&R Ranch, showing pampered vacationers how to ride.

When taking care of her son’s escapades proves too much, Carrie is sent off from some spa time at the R&R Ranch by some friends. The last thing that she’s looking for is a man, especially a sexy cowboy, who doesn’t do relationships. Carrie has only ever had one relationship, with her husband, an undercover detective. After he was killed in the line of duty, life became one hardship after another. Forced to sell her home and move back in with her parents, she is constantly worried about making ends meet. She’s constantly stressed, even at the R&R, and when she’s stressed, she bakes. Cakes, cookies, cupcakes, she does it all.

Then there’s Dylan. Oh, Dylan. He’s lived a hard life, never had any roots, after the death of his parents sent him and his brothers into the foster care system. He signed on with the rodeo at a young age, and has never stopped roaming. His time at the R&R is as close to settled as he’s ever been.

“One night stands are my type, temporary women. I don’t do relationships. You bake cookies, sweetheart. Not my type.”

As much as they fight it, though, neither Carrie nor Dylan are able to avoid the attraction that draws them to each other. And, though they think otherwise, maybe each of them is exactly what the other needs.

‘Borrowing Trouble’ is the twelfth book in the ‘Texas Trouble’ series by Becky McGraw. I was completely able to read it as a standalone, although I would like to go back and read the previous books. I really enjoyed the story, and the characters were all so likable. I really felt for Carrie, who was truly just doing what she could to keep it together. And Dylan, even when he was being a jerk, was so sexy and funny, that I just couldn’t help but love him. What I also liked about this books is that there is a whole subplot that is more suspense that keeps the action going. The author has done a nice job of inter-weaving the two storylines, making this more than just a love story. This book was a solid 4 stars for me, and I would recommend it if you’re looking for a fast-paced story that has elements of suspense and drama, along with all the sexy hotness of a good cowboy romance.

 Excerpt

Ready or not, Dylan didn’t leave or back off. His heat surrounded her, as his body crowded her from behind. His fingers brushed her skin as he pushed her hair aside to lean over her shoulder. He stuck his nose into the crook of her neck and inhaled deeply, then hovered here a moment with his hot breath tickling the shell of her ear. The richer, deeper timber of his voice vibrated through her, as he finally asked, “You like to bake. Is that why you smell like sugar cookies?” Electricity zipped down her spine when his lips touched down briefly on a spot right behind her ear. Carrie shivered and he laughed.

“Or do you just wear the dough behind your ear to tease me, because you know I have a weakness for sugar cookies?” After a final flick of his hot, wet tongue, he moved away. Cool air hit the wet imprint left by his mouth, and Carrie shivered. Her nails curled into her palms, and she sucked in a breath when they scraped her burn. The spatula clattered to the stove, and she sucked the fleshy pad at the side of her palm into her mouth.

Dylan grabbed her hand to inspect it. “Did you burn yourself?” he asked with concern. “We need to take you to the med shack and get Terri to bandage it. I was headed out there when I heard the smoke alarm, but I didn’t see her out there.”

“It’s fine,” Carrie said tugging her hand away. He didn’t let it go. Instead, he brought it to his mouth and kissed it slowly as he held her gaze. Carrie licked her lips, tasting the sugar cookies she had to taste test before she put them in the oven. “Um, I, ah…” she stammered, at a loss for words as she stared at the blatant desire in his eyes.

“Do you ride?” he asked suddenly.

Her dazed mind spun trying to process the words. “Since I could walk,” Carrie replied once she wrapped her mind around what he’d asked.

“I have a few days off for my arm to heal. Will you go riding with me this afternoon?

You need to relax a little,” he said with a little smile.

Carrie didn’t know how spending time with this cowboy would lend itself to relaxation. Every time she got within three feet of him, she was wound tighter than she had been in years. Being alone with him, wouldn’t help her put distance between them. But her mouth opened, and “Yes,” fell out, before she could stop it.

She only had two days left here, and she couldn’t resist the opportunity to feel like a desirable woman once more. That’s how he made her feel. Something she hadn’t felt in three years, and wasn’t likely to feel again for a long time after she left this ranch. Dylan made her forget her grief, forget her problems. Carrie knew agreeing to spend time with him was just avoidance. Her problems would still be there when she went back to her parents’ ranch. Right now though, he would help her forget for an afternoon.

“Come out to the barn around two, and I’ll have the horses saddled.”

“I can help,” she offered, and her gaze fell to his shoulder. “You’re hurt. You shouldn’t be saddling anything. Are you sure you’re okay to ride?”

He laughed and his smile broadened. “I could ride with one arm tied behind my back.”

“I’ll ride with you, if you let me saddle the horses then,” she propositioned.

“Deal,” he replied and his deep voice vibrated along her nerve endings. When he leaned toward her, Carrie held her breath. His lips touched hers, lingered for a second, then with a playful little nip to her lower lip, he stood back up and smiled. “You taste like sugar cookies.”

“That’s what the lumps of coal in the trash were,” she replied with an embarrassed laugh.

“Give me some of those beautiful biscuits, and a few of those cupcakes to take back to the bunkhouse with me.” Dylan eyed them over her shoulder. “I’ll make some gravy to go with the biscuits for breakfast.” His tongue made a circuit around his lips, and her eyes were dragged around with it. Heat settled between her legs, and her lips sizzled.

She would give him the whole damned pan if he kissed her again. But he didn’t. He just stood there staring. Waiting. For her to do something. Oh, yeah, ice the cupcakes and wrap up biscuits for him. Heat shot up to her cheeks, and Carrie walked to the refrigerator to get the bowl of icing. She iced the cupcakes, while he leaned against the counter watching her. Moving around him, she brought the bowl to the sink, then opened the cabinet beside it to look for a container. The one she wanted was on the upper shelf, and she couldn’t reach it even on her tip toes. Huffing a frustrated breath, she balanced on her arms, then climbed up on the counter. Sometimes it sucked being short, she thought, as she stood to drag it down from the top shelf. When she turned around to get down Dylan was right there behind her.

He smiled up at her and put his hand at her knee. “I couldn’t help you get it down, but I wanted to make sure you didn’t fall,” he informed with a shrug.

Carrie eased down to sit on the counter, and he grabbed the container from her to sit it on the counter, before he nudged her knees apart to make a space for his hips. He slid his hands up her thighs to grip her hips, and Carrie’s heart did a leap in her chest. “And I wanted a real kiss. You’re at the perfect height now for that to happen.”

His eyes dropped to her mouth, and he licked his lips again. “Kiss me, Carrie,” he invited, not making a move to kiss her. He just waited, while staring at her mouth, which felt like it was on fire. Carrie licked her own lips, then hesitantly leaned toward him, stopping when her mouth was within millimeters of his to catch her breath, to get her out of control heart to slow down.

“Kiss me, Carrie,” he whispered again.

She put her palms on his bare chest and his heated skin felt like smooth silk under her touch. His warm, musky morning scent enflamed her senses, as she closed the space between them to take a tentative pass over his mouth with hers, then another. That evidently wasn’t enough for him, because his left hand moved up from her hip. He shoved his hand into her hair, cradling her skull to pull her closer, as his mouth devoured hers. He feasted on her lips like they were the best thing he’d ever tasted.

His were the best she had tasted in a helluva long time, that was for sure. Minty toothpaste, and the sweetness of the man kissing her flooded her senses. Carrie couldn’t get enough of him. Her hands moved to circle his neck and pull him closer still. He was right, this counter was at the perfect height for kissing and so much more.

The inside of her knee brushed the warm skin at his hip, where his pajama pants rode low. Fire shot up the inside of her thigh to her center and she throbbed there in time with her heart. Without conscious thought, Carrie wrapped her legs around his waist to pull him closer to where she needed him. Dylan moaned into her mouth, and his tongue courted hers in time with his hips, as he ground himself into her.

His erection hit her in just the perfect spot, and her breath came in short pants as her pleasure inched up with each stroke. When she couldn’t breathe, she dragged her mouth from his and threw her head back. His lips latched onto the side of her neck and he sucked her there. Carrie moaned loudly, thrusting her hips against him, reaching for the release that was just out of her reach. “Oh, God, Dylan…yes, make me come,” she whispered hotly.

His fingers dug into her right hip, as he continued to suck her neck. “Lord, woman…I want to fuck you right here on Penny’s counter,” he growled into her ear, increasing the pace of his thrusts.

That was the hottest damned thing Carrie had ever heard. The only place she’d ever made love was in the bedroom. Behind closed doors. Most of the time with the kids rattling the doorknob, or yelling for her. Just the naughty image of doing it right here that flickered through her mind, sent her tumbling over the edge.

 Kelley’s Review

bigstock_Five_stars_Mesh_13933472

Smart, Sexy, and Ugly Beautiful…

From the very beginning of this book I kept telling myself there was no way that Amanda Legend was to fall for Ryan.  He is the exact reason why she is estranged from her father and has been cut off financially.  He is the reason her dream to move to NY and amazing internship is not going to happen.  But when no one in Hollywood will help her, or hire her for any work and she does not have a dime to her name, it seems that Ryan might be her only hope.

I have adored this series so far.  Maggie has worked in the film industry and her knowledge really shows in her plot development.  I love how broken Ryan and Amanda are and how they find a common ground to build a sold friendship on.  I also am enchanted by the nasty villain in this story Kiley Kepner.  She is a piece of work that you will love to hate.  Wow!  Purely vindictive and self-centered.  She also amazes me at how much she does what she wants to do with no fear of any consequences.  I kept turning the pages to see when she was finally going to get what was coming to her.

This story is filled with sexual chemistry and tension between Ryan and Amanda.  She becomes his light as he is dealing with his demons.  She tells him how it is and how it should be and does not care if he wants to hear it or not.  That is what keeps him grounded and he finds that he likes seeing this side of her.  She has shown him her true colors and is not the Amanda Legend that backs down from a fight that she has always seemed to be.

The Glamour Series will take you on a joy ride behind the scenes in Hollywood that you will never forget.  I have certainly enjoyed the ride so far and am looking forward to the next book in this series.

Each title in the Glamour series may be read as a standalone.

My roommates look really good naked. At least one of them does. I’m sure the other one does too, but I haven’t seen him without his pants on. Living with two guys wasn’t something I’d ever considered, but the opportunity fell in my lap, and I’d have been crazy to turn it down.

What’s a girl to do when she has nowhere else to turn? She moves to the Outer Banks and learns to bartend. After all, it was my horrible bartending skills that led me to my roommate’s bed and into his heart.

Tracey’s Review

4-Stars

Carly doesn’t know what to do with her life. Recently graduated from college, and with a less-than-perfect home life, she heads to Corolla, NC, to see her brother and figure out what comes next. Macon is living his dream as a dive instructor, loving life and the ladies in Corolla.

When Carly shows up to stay with her brother Colin to escape trouble at home, she doesn’t have any real plan. She ends up working at the Grille, a local beach hangout, with Colin’s girlfriend Maddy, and quickly works her way up to bartender. Macon, one of Maddy’s roommates, is working as a dive instructor, living in the moment, and not thinking past the end of the summer. He and Carly hit it off, and when Maddy moves in with Colin, Macon asks Carly to take her place as roommate. Problem, though: there is a mad attraction between Carly and Macon, and even though they fight it, they are on a collision course towards each other.

‘On the Rocks’ is the second in the ‘Mixology’ series by Alyssa Rose Ivy. We’ve already met Maddy, Colin, Macon, and Brody in her first book, and they are all very much present in this book, too. Alyssa typically writes very readable stories, and this one was no exception. I found ‘On the Rocks’ to be an enjoyable read, with characters who are likeable, if on the young side, with an engaging storyline. Everything is wrapped up very nicely by the end of the book, although I’d love to see more of the gang, especially Brody, in the future. A nice solid 4-star read.

Kelley’s Review

6 Stars

The Thieves Series is a must read!

This series is so masterfully written that you will lose track of time and everything around you as you embark on a new mission to steal the unobtainable. Lexi takes you on an incredible journey through several different worlds where you meet some very unique and memorable characters. Steal the Night begins with the journey to find Merlin. They have to get that device that Marini has put on Daniel’s heart removed if he ever has a chance in hell to be king. The journey they embark on to find Merlin will keep you on the edge of your seat.

The banter between characters is hysterical. Lexi delivers so many funny one liners I could not keep track. I laughed out loud to the point that the people sitting next to me on my flight to DC were giving me strange looks.

Dev sighed. “i can’t get Dan interested in public sex. There’s even a club here in Dallas. He won’t let us go.”

OMG! I died laughing when I saw that Lexi had referenced Sanctum in Steal The Night. I don’t know how Ian would feel about vampires and faeries hanging out at Sanctum.

Zoey again is the babysitter for her husbands as they try little experiments with each other. I loved it when she chastised them for their stupid stunts. Just to let you know they pull a lot of stupid stunts.

Before long Marini appears and wants what Zoey stole for him. The blood stone. Once Marini gets his hands on the blood stone and its power is revealed all hell breaks loose. In the exchange he manages to get a taste of Zoey. He was obsessed with her before, but now she is like his heroin and he cannot live without his fix. Lee steps up to the plate again and becomes Zoey’s rock and protector. She loves him and he loves her like family and he will do anything to keep her safe. He is her one loyal ally in this mess that keeps her secrets and that helps her preserve her sanity as things spin out of control. There are so many twists and turns on this thrill ride that you will be clinging to the edge of your seat bracing yourself for what is going to happen next.

Lexi put her heart and soul into this series and it shows. Zoey, Daniel, and Dev experience tragic events on their journey that I am almost positive Lexi has experienced herself. I believe she wrote this series as means to work through some heartache and pain she suffered in her past and share with readers that they are not alone. I cannot thank her enough for taking a risk and writing something so memorable that it became a part of me and found its way into my heart and soul. The love that is portrayed in this book will grasp your heart strings and never let go. I bawled like a baby when I thought that Lexi had killed one of the main characters. You never know what to expect when a series comes to an end. Don’t be deceived there is loss in this final chapter but you will awestruck as to how that loss is formed into a new beginning.

Lexi Blake is an artist when it comes to writing urban fantasy.  I am grateful everyday that I have been a part of this journey and I am so excited to see what is in store for us next.

The love relationship in ‘Deeper Than Need’ is woven amidst the back story, a mystery involving the girl that Noah loved and lost when he was a teenager. Shiloh Walker does a great job of introducing secondary characters that keep the reader guessing exactly who knows what. As well, the heat between Trinity and Noah is well-written, and I found myself hoping that they could get past the obstacles keeping them apart and move forward together.

I don’t want to give away too much, as the story depends upon revealing pieces of information bit by bit to get to the heart of exactly what happened in the big house that Trinity now calls home. I enjoyed this book very much, found it easy to read, and did not want to put it down. I look forward to the next book in the ‘Secrets and Shadows’ series to see what Shiloh Walker has in store for her characters.
