I decide to bring up Ollie, preferring to deal with that than the topic of my sister.

“Did you hear that Oliver Tanner is back in town?”

She squints. “Why does that name sound familiar?”

“Josey Tanner’s son,” I say, unamused by her attitude.

Paige wrinkles her nose. “Little Ollie AWOL? Showing his face back here? That idiot?”

I hate when she refers to him as that. I hold back a frustrated groan. I don’t need more reminders of how he left me here—embarrassed and heartbroken.

It’s not like they were friends or anything, I think sarcastically. Then again, she’s always the first person to remind me that he broke my heart—twice.

“Yeah, that one,” I say dryly, regretting the subject. “He’s staying at the old Tanner place while he decides what to do with his life.”

“He’s going to f*** up my hydrangeas, isn’t he?” Paige says.

“So not the point,” I say.

“Is he as hot as I remember him?” she asks.

I smirk. Oliver is good looking. He has tousled brown hair, which is thick and lustrous. His eyes are a mesmerizingly deep brown, and flecks of amber light dance throughout them. Like fireflies. His face is strong and well defined. His features look like they were molded from granite. He has thick eyebrows, which slopes downward in a severe expression.

My stomach does a few flips as I remember his playful smile. My body shivers, remembering the tingles that his strong hands created when they touched me. They were rough but warm. And when those beefy arms wrapped around my body, it felt perfect.

His body was toned and inviting as he hugged me. Everything about him was comforting. His voice was deep and rich. We saw each other a couple of days ago, but I’m still thinking about him.

Chasing Fireflies by Claudia Burgoa is one of my favorite books she has written. This coming of age romance spans over twenty years of family, friends, life, and love. It captures the complete untainted innocent hearts of children to the jaded, weary hearts after life has reared it’s ugly side. Through it all the the strength of family and friendship is the glue that holds Kaitlyn Blythe and Oliver Tanner together. Their story begins at the precious age of four and five, when popsicles on lazy summer days and chasing fireflies are the most important things to do in Knox Ridge, GA.

Small towns like Knox Ridge hold more than southern charm, they hold a history of generations of families and friends sharing their lives with one another. Without saying too much more about the content of the book I will say that this book was alsolutely magical. Ollie and Kaitlynn came to life and jumped off the pages. Their magical fireflies illuminated their story and made their lives special.

 “Do you want to go to a kinky sex party?” she asked after I’d been quiet for too long.

 Yes. I did.

 But I didn’t want that to be the wrong answer.

I’m half-tempted to call Donnie to make sure he gave me the correct address when headlights brighten the narrow alleyway.

The SUV is crawling toward me, and my nerves are jacked. I shouldn’t be doing this. I should find a decent part-time job to pay for my sister’s medical expenses, but I see no other way. We have to get her vest fixed or buy a new one. Selling drugs is the only way to make some quick cash. Besides, I’m good at it. I sold dope and pills for years, and I’d never been arrested. I always had my pulse on the neighborhoods, and I knew where cops loitered at night.

Aiming the gun at my head, he stalks toward me. His dark eyes are hard, his mission resolute. “Move and you’re dead.” His deep voice is lethal.

An all too familiar wave washes over me, and I’m tempted to back out of this stupid idea to sell drugs and run before he pulls the trigger. I’m not any good dead to Mom and Phoebe. But I know his words are just a scare tactic while he frisks me.

I stand statue-still while the second dude, sporting a thin beard and no mustache, pats my sides, my lower back, down my legs, and straight down to my ankles. He sticks one finger in the air. “All clear.”

The stocky dude lowers his gun, and, inwardly, I grin. The goon didn’t find the blade in my boot. I’m not about to use it though. But I don’t walk into situations like these unarmed. Still, I make a mental note of the type of men I’m dealing with.

A tall man climbs out of the back seat. He’s sporting baggy jeans and a New York Yankees ball cap, and the gold bling around his neck probably weighs ten pounds as it glints off the dim light on the side of the car repair shop.

It’s all I can do not to roll my eyes. Donnie doesn’t show off like this dude. Donnie’s motto is blend in with the crowd. Standing out only draws attention.

“You must be Wrangler. I’m Ray Diaz.” Ray struts over to the metal garage door. “You understand I have to be careful.” He punches a code in on the keypad tacked to the frame of the door. Within a second, it opens.

I tuck my hands in my jean pockets. “I’m well aware of the industry.”

A deep chuckle erupts from Ray. “I heard. Donnie told me you were a cocky punk too.”

It’s my turn to laugh. “When I need to be.”

Holding on to Forever is a collaboration between Siobhan Davis and S.B. Alexander. As soon as I saw Siobhan’s name attached, I knew I had to read because she’s the Queen of delivering dark and emotional stories. S.B. Alexander is a new author to me. I felt that for their first collaboration together the writing worked well together.

This book was dark. Dealing with multiple trigger subjects, readers should heed warning prior to going it as this story deals with: Drugs, Rape, Suicidal thoughts.

Adam is the star quarterback for Cypress University. Loyal to his friends and family, he’s been on the straighten arrow, devoted to studying and sports more than the typical college life of parties and girls. When he receives word that his mother has lost her job and his sister is sick, he finds himself taking on the role of drug dealer to assist his mother with mounting medical bills.

Emily is the daughter of Cypress Universities President and the Head Coach of the football team. Haunted by past trauma, Emily finds herself lost and at the grips of addiction to drugs.

Adam and Emily’s worlds collide one late night while Adam is out dealing and happens to proposition Emily’s friend Zack to buy off him. One look and Adam is in deep, knowing that the beautiful strawberry blonde will change his world forever. What he doesn’t know is that she is Coach Parker’s daughter and totally off limits.

I’ll admit that I had a hard time with this story at times. The writing was good, and I felt the authors worked well together but it just didn’t feel realistic for me. The addiction aspect just didn’t feel genuine. Even though we are told Emily is an addict, it wasn’t believable that she only indulged on weekends without feeling the effects of withdrawal throughout the week. Addiction is a demon. It lurks all the time in the mind of addicts and isn’t something that is easy for them to stop and start at will.

Overall the story was good there are just some things that could have been better but it should not deter the reader from this story.

“No, thank you.”

He looked completely uncomfortable standing in my kitchen, so of course, I needed to make it worse. I tilted my head. “Did you touch any?”

“What?”

“My panties. Did you touch any while you were in the bathroom?”

He tugged at the collar of his polo and looked down the hall. “Where did she go? We need to get back on the road.”

Oh my God!

I’d been kidding around. But…holy shit…he had! I covered my mouth and cracked up. “You did, didn’t you! You perv!”

Hollis walked down the hall. “Hailey…let’s get going.”

I couldn’t get the smile off my face. Something about the thought of Hollis touching my underwear amused the hell out of me. I wished Hailey wasn’t around so I could ask him if he’d smelled them, too. That thought actually made me snort.

Hollis came back to the kitchen. His face was stern. “We’ll see you on Monday.”

I walked them to the door. Hailey surprised me with a hug. “Your art stuff is awesome.”

“Thank you, sweetheart.”

I grinned at Hollis, who was impatiently holding the door open for his niece. “Your uncle thinks my stuff is awesome, too.”

Hated You Then is the first book in the new Love Hurt Duet by M Robinson.

This book was everything we M Robinson fans could ever hope for!! This book was absolute perfection! It’s beautiful, raw and will definitely give you all the feels!!

Harley and Jackson have grown up together. Their families are close knit which makes means they are always around one another… even if they do hate each other.

These two were hilarious!! I thoroughly enjoyed their banter and general hate towards one another. It made the deep subject matter of this book more bearable because let’s face it… if you read Aiden and Bailey’s story in the Pierced Hearts Duet then you know it was devastatingly gut wrenching.

What readers will discover in this book will help them understand why Jackson was so unpleasant in The Pierced Hearts Duet. He wasn’t just a boy grieving for the loss of his mother and need for his absent father… there’s so much more he’s dealing with that readers have no idea about.

M Robinson delivered with this story. She has a way of evoking feelings that some authors never master. She put her heart and soul into this book, and I cannot wait to see what happens next in Love You Now.
