Synopsis

Shay Savage’s latest release, Deklan, is one of those books that immediately captures the reader’s attention and holds them hostage until the very last word. It is a sexy romantic suspense in the dark chilling underworld of organized crime, the Irish Mafia. An innocent young woman is used as a pawn to control certain members who are off the rail and have questionable loyalties. One of those members is her father who readily traded her to erase his gambling debts. The other member is the enforcer who has to prove his loyalty to his new boss, the son of the man who gave him a chance to escape the abusive life he had as a child. A new ruthless and psychotic boss has taken the reigns. Loyalties are being tested. No one’s life has any value and everyone has to prove their worth or die. Whether they are innocent bystanders or jaded members, everyone is a victim of Sean Foley. Now it’s a matter of survival in his ruthless world.
Kera O’Conner was betrothed to the mafia prince Sean Foley at the age of fifteen to pay back her father’s gambling debts. Her father was a key player for the mafia that laundered money through his businesses for the mafia. Kera was kidnapped and held for ransom by unknown players for his debts. Her father was forced to go to the Foley’s to get the ransom money. He readily agreed to repayment by betrothing his young daughter to the spoiled son of the Foley family. Kera has accepted her fate and is willing to honor her father’s debt. She’s grateful to be alive and marrying into the Foley family guarantees her future. On the day of the wedding the agreement is changed. Rather than marrying the man she was promised to she’s forced to marry his enforcer, Deklan Kearney, a complete stranger.
Deklan Kearney is shocked when Sean Foley demands that he marry Kera O’Conner. He has to prove his loyalty to Sean and the family. He vows that he will honor the family and honor Kera as his wife. He will protect her, take care of her, and give her a life she’s worthy of living.
Two strangers are bound together in marriage. What they didn’t anticipate was falling in love. They also didn’t anticipate the past coming back in full force and placing Kera’s life in danger once again. They also didn’t anticipate the betrayal that could take both of their lives. The only thing they can do is survive their world and hold onto their love.
Shay Savage once again held me captive with this fast paced thrilling novel. The story itself focuses more on the romance rather than the dark dealings of the mafia, which can overshadow the romance. It has the perfect combination of romance and dark suspense.

Shay Savage is an independent author from Cincinnati, Ohio, where she lives with her family and a variety of household pets. She is an accomplished public speaker and holds the rank of Distinguished Toastmaster from Toastmasters International. Her hobbies include off-roading in her big, yellow Jeep, science fiction in all forms, and soccer. Savage holds a degree in psychology, and she brings a lot of that knowledge into the characters within her stories.
