Excerpt:

I’d had bodyguards before. But only for events like fashion week or a big shoot. Just for a limited amount of time. My contract with Ziggy, however, was open ended, dependent on the heart in the box situation. Once he’d grilled me about what the police were doing (investigating my entire life), my routine (I don’t really have one. It’s consumed by work), and my calendar for the next few days (I’d freed up time to finish unpacking and then back to work on my lingerie line), he drove me to the gym. There was one I used a couple of times in the apartment building, but I generally do better with some active encouragement and guidance.

Guess Ziggy approved of my Land Rover because he gave it another one of those almost-smiles. I, however, continued to receive the full professional cold front face. This was definitely going to take some getting used to.

“Who’s your shadow?” asked Kwana, my awesome trainer.

I paused mid-lunge, my breath coming hard and fast. “My bodyguard, Ziggy. You like him?”

“He’s pretty. Don’t stop, keep moving.”

“Yeah, yeah.”

“You don’t usually have one of them around. Have you been getting hassled or something?”

Kwana stood with her arms crossed, all lean muscles beneath brown skin. Since we were in an open area at the end of the main part of the gym, Ziggy waited over by the wall, just out of earshot. He stood with his arms loose at his side, his gaze constantly wandering a circuit from me—around the room, over to the exits, and back again. Always on alert.

“More a precaution than anything,” I said.

No matter how much I liked Kwana, no one outside my inner circle needed to know about the incident. The fewer people who found out about the gross cow heart and knife the better.

There’d been no further news from the police. Though it was never likely they’d track down a suspect and charge that person the next day.

Case closed, hooray!

It’s always a delight to read anything written by Kylie Scott. It is an extra bonus when her latest novella is set in the Stage Dive world and we get to re-visit some of our favorite rockers and yes that  includes the one of a kind percussionists that doles out dating advice while parenting his puppy. Alas, the Stage Dive members are not the stars of this novella but one of their security team agents, Ziggy Thayer, has been hired to protect their neighbor, plus size super- model Mae Cooper.  While Ziggy is all kinds of hot and can rock a suit, he is also good at his job. He’s her to protect Mae.

Mae has a stalker who has been sending bloody gifts that are raising all kinds of warning flags. The stalker has escalated from threatening letters to threatening gifts. Ziggy believes this is only the beginning and wants to find the person behind the threats. Although He loves protecting Mae but would rather put his hands on her a different way. She has won his heart with her down to earth personality and great sense of humor. Why anyone would want to hurt this beautiful soul is beyond him but he knows there are all kinds of crazies in the world. It’s his job to neutralize the crazy.

Mae and Ziggy are dancing around what they really want to do with each other. When the threat is finally eliminated… watch out because these two are going to bring down the house.

Once again Kylie Scott wrote a delightful novella and created fun-loving, likable characters that make the Stage Dive world even more delightful. She added her special blend of snarky humor and sarcasm while also maintaining a sexy romance. I loved it!

Closer is a fun, fast paced novella that will keep the reader fully engaged and entertained.

When I first read the synopsis for Entice and learned it was an age gap romance/forbidden love story I immediately knew I had to read it.

I am not new to Ava Harrison and her stories. Like most of Ava’s books, she tackles serious subject matter and her development of characters is always genuine, providing depth, personality and humanly quirks which makes her characters so raw and real for readers.

After meeting when she was just twelve years old, River has maintained deep rooted feelings for her father’s best friend Grayson Price. Now on the verge of being twenty-one, River is hardly that little girl she once was and once again encounters Grayson who is now in his late thirties.

The past eight years have been good to Grayson Price. He’s wickedly handsome, fit and very successful… But he’s also very broody and closed off. It’s like he’s lost his zest for life.

Now that she’s older and not that little girl anymore, River will do whatever it takes to prove to Grayson that age is just a number and that their chemistry and connection is all that matters.

There is lots of angst and lots of steamy chemistry between these two characters.

This story is more than just an age gap/forbidden romance. River and Grayson are both battling inner demons that both unite and work against them throughout the story. There is subject matter that may be sensitive to readers so tissues may be required.

Collateral is book one in the Collateral Damage Duet by Natasha Knight. This is the first book I’ve read by this author and I must say I really enjoyed this book.

Gabriela Marchese is the eighteen-year-old daughter of Gabriel Marchese, a calculating and ruthless mobster. Stuck in the crosshairs of her father’s dirty deeds and manipulation, Gabriela finds herself bound by a contract her father signed, to marry another ruthless mobster, Stefan Sabbioni.

Removed from her home and placed in the care of a stranger, Gabriela struggles to come to terms with her impending future. Stubborn to the core, Gabriela will not give Stefan the upper hand… but that doesn’t mean he won’t take it.

Gabriela is immature throughout this story, but keep in mind she is young and has been sheltered her whole entire life. Her stubbornness and defiance do make interaction with Stefan interesting though since he is a control freak.

Stefan… holy hotness!! He is a complete dominant at the core. He wants control so bad and is used to having it in all things. Let’s not forget his perfect body and a hot chest tattoo…swoon!

The story is well crafted. The flow in which the story unfolds is pleasantly surprising as the author took time to build the world in which this story takes place and the where the characters reside. This story is the definition of a slow burn romance. I liked that she took two characters, who were complete strangers and took her time to show the development of their relationship as the story unfolds. There are definitely still a lot of trust issues to work out between these two, but I feel when the time is right, the pages are going to explode with all the pent-up chemistry these two are giving off!

I’m looking forward to seeing what’s in store for the second part of this story.
