Oh, my heart. A.L. Jackson has gone and done it again, given us a book that is heartbreaking and beautiful, crushing and uplifting, and, as always, just perfect. PROMISE ME ALWAYS, Milo’s and Tessa’s story, is finally here, and it is totally worth the wait

A longtime fan of Amy’s books, I have read and loved all of them. The Redemption Hills series are some of her best, because her writing only gets better and more powerful with time. And while Trent and Eden, Jud and Salem, and Logan and Amber, have all found a place in my heart, it was Tessa that I was waiting for, and Amy has absolutely delivered with this book

Tessa McDaniels is the cement of the friend group, the cheerleader, the one that has watched all of her people find their happy endings. Never one to dwell on her own troubles, she’s the light in the middle of the dark, especially for Milo Hendricks. A man filled with dark secrets himself, Milo is always watching, looking to protect those that can’t protect themselves, and Tessa is that beacon of light that he finds himself gravitating towards.

PROMISE ME ALWAYS captivated me from the first page, swept up in Tessa’s and Milo’s story and unable to put it down until the end. The angst is real in this book, making me ache for this unexpected but perfect pairing, and hold on for their passion-filled and finally redemptive journey.

Okay, I knew from the very beginning of this series that Shiloh’s book was going to be the one, and, boy, the lovely and talented Catherine Cowles did not disappoint. I was all in with FRACTURED SKY from the first page, and I am still feeling it, weeks after I reached THE END.

I went into the Tattered & Torn series having read nothing at all that Catherine has written and I can now say that she is, without a doubt, one of my most favorite go-to romance authors. Her characters, their stories, the sense of family and home, she incorporates all of these things beautifully, and, if I was going to recommend one series this year, this would be the one.

Shiloh and Ramsey are perfect for each other, because they really have a strong sense of who they are themselves, who each other are, and what they need to move forward in their lives. Their connection is right on, and the chemistry, although somewhat of a slow burn, is off the charts.

I could not put FRACTURED SKY down, and I am already jonesing for another book by Catherine. Happily enough, the Lost & Found series is headed our way in the new year, and these books are already high atop my TBR. In the meantime, y’all, if you haven’t read the books in the Tattered & Torn series, now is the time for a binge, because they truly are all that. Go, read, fall in love. ❤️

I pressed on the accelerator to make it past the final rise, and as I did, the property came into view. My heart seemed to take up acrobatics in my chest, flipping and tumbling, expanding and contracting. My hands gripped the wheel harder as my foot eased off the gas.

The house itself was in worse shape than I’d expected. One of the walls had a gaping hole in it. But the small guest cabin didn’t look too worse for wear. The cottage had been in my mom’s family for generations, but the house had been my father’s construction after they married. She hadn’t stayed long after he went to prison, choosing to move us down to the flats to live on some land my uncle owned.

While the generations-old construction of the cabin had held steady, the barn and paddocks hadn’t fared nearly as well. The entire structure seemed to lean to one side, and a storm had taken down more than half of the fencing. My back hurt just looking at all the work that needed to be done.

I sighed and pulled to a stop in front of the cabin, releasing my hold on the wheel. My phone dinged, and I sent up a mental thank you to the gods of technology that it seemed I had service up here.

Shay: Are you there yet? Text me the second you arrive.

I smiled down at my phone, feeling a little less alone, knowing that I had someone who would drop anything to have my back.

Me: Just pulled up outside. Cabin looks okay. The house and barn are a disaster.

Shay: Are you sure you don’t want Brody and me to come help you get settled? We can be there in two days.

God, I was lucky to have her as a friend, but I wasn’t ready to open all the doors I’d need to if they came to stay. There were too many skeletons I didn’t want to let out into the light.

Me: Thank you, but I’ve got this. Let me get settled, and then you can come for a visit.

Shay: I don’t like that you’re there all alone.

Me: I won’t be alone for long.

Soon, I would have this place crawling with animals. It had always been my dream to build a home for neglected or abused animals of any kind. A sanctuary. It was simply coming more quickly than expected.

I turned off my SUV, rolled down the windows, and the pine air swept in. It was different than any other type, the Ponderosa pines. And as it filled me, tears sprang to my eyes. I’d missed this, more than I’d realized.

I leaned back in my seat and pulled out my letter.

Dearest Everly,

I know much of this will come a day late and more than a dollar short, but better that than not at all. Even once the doctors told me the cancer had a hold, I couldn’t bring myself to call you, to tell you these things face-to-face as I should’ve. So, I’ll take the coward’s way out. That won’t be anything new. There were so many times I should’ve stood up but didn’t.

But that’s not you. You’ve always been the bravest person I’ve ever known. Even before that night. I should’ve told you, but I didn’t—I’m so proud of you, beautiful girl. You made yourself into this amazing warrior all on your own, without any help from your dad or me.

I wish I had a chance to truly see you shine now. That’s the price for my sins. To miss all of your beauty and light shining on this world.

This should’ve come so long ago, but I’m sorry. For not being there for you. For not getting your father the help he needed. For not taking you and your siblings away when things went sideways. I’m so very sorry that I wasn’t stronger. That I wasn’t more like you.

I don’t have much I can give you, but the land’s still mine. I know a lot of pain’s been poured into the dirt there, but there was good once, too. When I spent summers there with your grandparents. As your father and I made it our home. The babies that grew there. The animals we raised.

Maybe you can find your good there, too.

I understand if you can’t. Or don’t want to. But I know if one person is strong enough to do it…it’s you.

I love you forever and always, my little warrior.

A single tear splashed onto the page. She’d been gone before I even knew she was sick. Buried before I even knew she was gone. My family hadn’t wanted me there. Not my brother—who I was sure still blamed me for everything—my uncle, or any other vast network of relatives still rooted in the area.

The first in a new series, TATTERED STARS is my first book by author Catherine Cowles, and, y’all, I am in LOVE. This story had me from the first page, and I could not stop reading until I was done. Romantic suspense is my jam, and Catherine has done an excellent job of writing a story that is riveting, action-packed, and still full of moments of love, healing, and grace. These characters have been through so much, and seeing them work through the preconceptions, the pain, and the anger is amazing.

I truly could not have asked for better introduction to Catherine’s words, nor could they have come at a better time. Books like this are why I read, and why I blog to let others know about them. It’s safe to say that, although this is my first of Catherine’s book, it most definitely will not be my last. I cannot recommend this book highly enough for fans of contemporary romantic suspense. And, if you’re already a fan of Catherine’s work, then you know. Read TATTERED STARS. You will not be sorry. ❤️

This second visit to Quincy, Montana, proves that author Devney Perry cannot write a book that I do not love. From the first page of JUNIPER HILL to the very last, Memphis, Knox, and the rest of the Eden family drew me in and did not let go.

Both Knox’s and Memphis’s backstories are heartbreaking, the difference being that Knox has his home and his family to help him pick up the pieces. The beauty of Quincy and the Edens is that they offer the very same to Memphis, exemplifying the truth that chosen family is just as strong and loving as the ones that we come from.

Devney manages to infuse her usual perfect blend of intrigue, suspense, passion, and love into JUNIPER HILL, making for a story both infinitely readable and enjoyable. I couldn’t get enough of Memphis, Knox, and the rest of the Edens, and I cannot wait to get Talia’s story in GARNET FLATS. If you haven’t visited Quincy, or read Devney’s books, you must, because you will become an immediate and lifelong fan. ❤️

It’s not that I haven’t loved every book in the Calamity series by author Willa Nash, aka, Devney Perry, because I have. But there is just something about this latest story, THE BRAZEN, that was extra-special. Maybe it was a strong heroine, who takes absolutely no nonsense from anyone. Or a hero that is a lot of bark, but not so much bite, that has gotten lost along the way and is ripe for redemption. Whatever it is, THE BRAZEN is a book that I loved, that I inhaled, that jumped right to the top of my recent favorites, and is there to stay.

I love all of Willa’s/Devney’s books, because she makes it impossible not to do so. She infuses each story, each series, with abiding passion, friendship, community, and a real sense of home. Picking up any of them is like putting on a favorite sweater, or finding that place that calls to you and lets you know that you’re where you’re supposed to be.

I honestly could not put down THE BRAZEN once I started, and could have happily kept reading about Kerrigan and Pierce as their lives continued to unfold. The two of them just had my heart, and watching them work things out was sweet, sexy, and redemptive, for both of them. Thank goodness for epilogues!

I obviously love this book and the series a lot, and highly recommend them. Small towns, strong personalities, and storylines that keep you guessing make them a joy to read. So, really, grab them and jump in. You’ll be so glad that you did. ❤️

Give me a strong steady law man and a small town, and I’m in. Given this, THE BRIBE by author Willa Nash, was a happily forgone conclusion for me, and, as I wrote in my review, it did not disappoint. I mean, to be fair, you would be hard-pressed to find a book by Willa Nash, or her alter ego, Devney Perry, that I didn’t love, but a tortured artist who is emotionally unavailable, erm…

News flash: I LOVED HUX! So now we know, tortured artist types are a yes, at least when written by Willa/Devney. Hux, for all of his tortured broodiness and brokenness, is not unredeemable. He needs a gentle but firm hand and a giving heart, and, lucky for him, Everly Christian has that in spades. And, as hard as he tries to hold himself apart, he can’t help but change the longer Everly’s around.

One of the things that I loved best about this book is that Everly is nobody’s doormat, and she gives as good as she gets. She has plenty of her own baggage, but gives Hux and his situation everything of herself that he needs, whether he realizes it in any given moment or not. But she’s stronger than she thinks, and when enough is enough, she’s not afraid to say it.

The more time I spend in Calamity, Montana, the more I love it, the place, the people, the quirks, everything. There are still plenty of stories to be told, and I cannot wait for Willa to deliver them. In the meantime, read these books. Just do it. Because they are heartfelt and passionate and so, so satisfying, and you will be so glad that you did. Calamity is a trip worth making. ❤️

I have inhaled each book in the Runaway series by author Devney Perry, so that FORSAKEN TRAIL was an immediate favorite is no surprise. I loved Aria Saint-James from the moment that she was introduced in QUARTER MILES. That she’s even stronger, even sassier, and more than able to handle herself here in her own book is all that I needed. And that she can more than manage Mr. In Control Bossy Bosserton Brody Carmichael clinched it for me.

That hate thing that Brody and Aria had going on? Yeah, so much unexplored attraction, and when they open the door to each other, talk about a spark…inferno is more like it, and an unlikely coupling becomes the match that neither one expected, but that each needed so desperately. These two that have so much love to share are meant for each other.

I’ve never read the Boxcar Children series that Devney loved and loosely used as a starting point for this series, but I have to believe that she’s done a bang-up job taking the idea and running with it. Each and every character, runaways, or ‘strays,’ as Brody’s grandmother so eloquently put it, has taken a bad beginning and made a life so much richer. Londyn, Gemma, Katherine, and now, Aria, they’ve finally found their people and places, because of the community they were able to forge so long ago. And, coming up is Clara’s and Karson’s story in DOTTED LINES. This book is one of my top TBRs for 2021, and I can’t wait. In the meantime, if you have not read this series, you simply must. And with DOTTED LINES releasing in March 2021, you have just enough time, although I doubt it will take you that long to jump in and fall in love. Happy reading, friends. ❤️

“Morning, afternoons, we ain’t picky on time of day, baby girl.” He’s angry and hard focused. “Keep going.”

I hate goodbyes!!!
This series started my love for Meagan Brandy. While scrolling through Facebook the cover of Boys of Brayshaw caught my eye and I was hooked. I’ve never looked back and have devoured each book since!
Royce was always destined for the final book, I just knew it would take a special lady to wrangle this boy and I’m so glad he met his match!!
True to her craft, Meagan has delivered another amazing binge-worthy story. Detailed perfection, memorable characters and an addicting storyline, Break Me should be on every readers TBR!

I have loved every book in the Tin Gypsy series by Devney Perry, and I thought that I’d found my favorite in STONE PRINCESS. But when I say that NOBLE PRINCE moved to the top of the list, you have to know that it’s because, not only does Devney’s writing get better with each and every book (and it was wonderful to begin with), this book about an unlikely couple stole my heart from the very first chapter.

When Luke Rosen was first introduced in STONE PRINCESS, it was apparent that this man was going to be a heart stealer. Strong, steady, dependable, none of those adjectives necessarily point to the guy that’s going to be the one, but he is, and he is exactly what Scarlett Marks needs in her life. And this slow burning love story with plenty of passion, suspense, and action was just want I needed on my TBR, because I couldn’t put it down, and I can’t stop thinking about it.

Devney has quickly become one of my go-to authors, because she moves seamlessly between series (I mean, really, there’s prolific, and then there’s next level), doesn’t miss a beat, and continues to deliver stories and characters that find that place in my heart set aside for the memories that I’ll visit often.

The Tin Gypsy series has been so great up to this point that I can only imagine the magic that Devney is going to unleash with the last two books in the series. I am here, and I am ready. If you haven’t read this series, you are missing out. Go, now, get them, and thank me later. ❤️
