Holidate by Monica Murphy is the third book in The Dating Series. This fun, dynamic series is based on the complications of the modern day dating world, alpha heroes who are clueless with the world of relationships and romance but experts in the bedroom. It takes a strong willed woman to put up with these heroes.

Candice Gaines may seem like a meek heiress spending her time working on one charity after another but that is only a general impression. Beneath the sugar and spice is a strong willed woman who is compassionate, organized, and sensible. She’s very reluctant when she’s recruited to help introduce Charlie Sullivan from the Sullivan Family Tree Farm into the community holiday events and festivities for philanthropic purposes. After a hearing a lot of negative opinions from her “girl posse” she’s inclined to refuse her help. After an unfortunate incident she finds herself guiding grumpy Charlie through the holiday season. He makes the Grinch look cheerful and Scrooge seem generous.

Spending his life working on the farm and making their fortune off the holiday season, the last thing Charlie wants to do is spend his free time celebrating the season. He would work through all the holiday festivities if it wasn’t for his deal with Candice and his mother. Here’s hoping there’s lots of spiked eggnog and an overabundance of mistletoe. Holidate is another fun, charming romance by Monica Murphy. This book can be read as a stand alone romance or in series order. I thoroughly enjoyed this story and can’t wait for the holiday season. I only wish we had a sexy tree farmer in our community.

I am so excited about Helena Hunting’s new hockey series. The All In series is a spin off of the Pucked Series with a brand new expansion team located in Seattle. A Lie For A Lie is the introduction to this series and actually takes place in Chicago with all of our beloved Pucked friends and family. The bonus is their world is expanding and readers are going to fall for the sexy new warriors on ice. A Lie For A Lie has set the tone and it was so much fun to read!

Every year RJ ( Rook) goes to Alaska with his brother and father on his off season to do some fishing. It’s the perfect way to decompress after a grueling season. This year is a bit different because his father passed away a few years ago and his brother was unable to attend due to complications in his wife’s pregnancy. By the time he gets the news he’s already boarding a jumper plane heading to his family’s fishing cabin. To his surprise the delightful woman who fell in his lap on the previous flight is sitting right next to him. Little did he know this would change his vacation and eventually change his world.

Dean

I find Lainey in the living room—standing on a ladder, with those long, toned legs peeking out from itty bitty cotton black shorts and a power drill in her hand, while Bruce Springsteen sings “I’m Goin’ Down” from a speaker in the corner.

And, dear God—the things I could do to her on that ladder.

Wonderful, filthy things that instantly make my heart pound and my cock throb. She’s the perfect height for me to just walk over there and put my mouth between her legs. I picture it, see it in my mind—the way she’d grip my hair and pant my name, arch her back and writhe against my face . . .

But then I catch sight of the small bump of her stomach, and reality smacks me in the head. I think about the baby—and how making Lainey lose her mind three feet off the ground wouldn’t be the safest option. My protective instinct overrides the desire to get freaky on the ladder.

“Hey, Dean.” She sets the drill on the ledge and picks up a beeping light green rectangle, running it along the wall.

“What are you doing up there?” I ask.

I move under the ladder to catch her if she goes ass over end, and a stab of terror slices through me at the thought that Lainey would still be doing this if I wasn’t here. Alone. Without Jason even in the room in case something went terribly wrong.

What the hell is up with that?

“I read that you’re not supposed to reach above your head when you’re pregnant.”

“That’s just an old wives’ tale.”

I wrap my hands around her hips, holding her steady.

“Maybe the old wives knew what they were talking about. Come on, come down.”

Slowly, Lainey lowers her arms and turns in my hands. I lift her off the ladder by her hips, tilting my head back and holding her above me for a moment, before sliding her slowly down. And the feel of her softness rubbing against me, the friction—it’s fantastic.

When her feet are on the ground, I dip my head and our faces are just millimeters apart. Close enough to count the sprinkle of cute, light freckles that dust the bridge of her nose.

“That’s better,” I say softly, taking the stud-finder out of her hands. “I’ll do it.”

“Okay.” Lainey’s tongue peeks out, wetting her bottom lip. “Thanks.”

Single In Sitka by Katy Regnery was the perfect modern day romance that most readers can relate to. A single father of three children and a single woman with a successful career whose biological clock is ticking. It’s the story of real life where car accidents change lives, settling for someone because it’s easy is the norm, being afraid to start over where the rules have changed in the dating world, and trying to fit in an already made family where parenting is a new concept are very real realities in today’s world.

Luke Kingston lost his wife and mother of his children in a car accident two years ago. As a single father of three children he has had to primarily focus on his family. Daily routines change as the children grow and their maturity levels evolve with puberty. While they all have learned to adjust to the changes in life the one thing they have not experienced is someone new coming into their lives. Luke is ready to enter the dating world but he’s not sure how to or how much of himself he wants to give. He’s old fashion and doesn’t believe in Tinder or swipe dating apps. When his sister places an ad in the dating personal ads of a popular area magazine, Luke is mortified until he meets his potential date. She has a talent of creating characters who are perfectly ordinary people with their own personal strengths and flaws. This is what makes their story extraordinary.

Married In Michigan by Jasinda Wilder is like a modern day fairytale with a real dose of reality that most readers can relate to. It also reminds me of the world’s favorite royal couple- Prince Harry and Princess Meghan.

Paxton deBraun is one of the most eligible bachelors in the US. He is known for his wild parties, philandering ways, and high profile antics. Although he is from an influential family, he relies on his own intelligence and business endeavors in his career. He is one of the youngest congressmen in the House of Representatives and has aspirations for a long political career. He needs to clean up his act to prove he has more brains than financial clout. He needs to prove he is more than qualified in his elected position. His controlling mother has issued an ultimatum, he must marry within three months or lose the family financial backing and political connections. Although he can thrive on his own financially he also sees the need to clean up his reputation. His only concession is that he picks his own bride rather than her finding one that has the right credentials.

Paxton chooses the maid from his mother’s exclusive hotel to become his bride. It will send his mother through the roof knowing he is marrying a bi-racial maid who is from the other side of the tracks. Paxton sees more than a beautiful woman from the wrong side of the tracks, he sees her integrity, intelligence, and diligence. Everything needed to be the perfect politician wife. He can offer her the world but she just wants a reprieve from her stressful life.

Paxton and Makayla find more than a beneficial business relationship. They find a beautiful friendship filled with respect and support. They also find themselves falling head over heels in love.

Married In Michigan by Jasinda Wilder is my favorite in the 50 States of Love series. I loved the cheesy fairytale/ billionaire romance along with doses of reality in today’s modern world. I loved how this book was a slow build up through dialogue, clever banter, and world building rather than fueled by the red hot sex scenes as a way of propelling the romance.

I highly recommend Married In Michigan by Jasinda Wilder. It was a pure reading delight.

It’s always a delight to read anything written by Kylie Scott. It is an extra bonus when her latest novella is set in the Stage Dive world and we get to re-visit some of our favorite rockers and yes that includes the one of a kind percussionists that doles out dating advice while parenting his puppy. Alas, the Stage Dive members are not the stars of this novella but one of their security team agents, Ziggy Thayer, has been hired to protect their neighbor, plus size super- model Mae Cooper. While Ziggy is all kinds of hot and can rock a suit, he is also good at his job. He’s her to protect Mae.

Mae has a stalker who has been sending bloody gifts that are raising all kinds of warning flags. The stalker has escalated from threatening letters to threatening gifts. Ziggy believes this is only the beginning and wants to find the person behind the threats. Although He loves protecting Mae but would rather put his hands on her a different way. She has won his heart with her down to earth personality and great sense of humor. Why anyone would want to hurt this beautiful soul is beyond him but he knows there are all kinds of crazies in the world. It’s his job to neutralize the crazy.

Mae and Ziggy are dancing around what they really want to do with each other. When the threat is finally eliminated… watch out because these two are going to bring down the house.

Once again Kylie Scott wrote a delightful novella and created fun-loving, likable characters that make the Stage Dive world even more delightful. She added her special blend of snarky humor and sarcasm while also maintaining a sexy romance. I loved it!

Closer is a fun, fast paced novella that will keep the reader fully engaged and entertained.

“A junior invited me,” Megan said excitedly. “It might be the party of the year.”

Party?

It looks like Union Square during New Year’s Eve.

What is everyone waiting for?

This party wasn’t worth the three-mile walk from our dorm to here.

The cheap alcohol tops it all. I didn’t get drunk with the first sip of a screwdriver; I got a massive headache. This isn’t for me. The circle of girls gossiping about everything as they wait to be swooped by some guy—not my scene.

Haven’t we done this for the past twelve hours? Chat about nonsense. This is why I don’t have many friends. I was too busy with my extracurricular activities that I skipped socializing 101. Give me a good book to read. A movie to watch or a marathon on TBS or Nick at Nite to keep me up all night. I suggest we leave, and what does roommate-dearest say in response? “I’ll find you a place to crash.”

The bedroom is dark but clean. I grab a sweatshirt and even a bear I find on the floor. It only takes a few seconds for me to fall asleep. It is quiet, smells of sandalwood and pine, and the sheets are soft.

I miss home.

Everything is going well until the guy from the coffee shop wakes me up. I swear it feels like a dream. A nightmare. But after we talk, I realize he’s not as bad as I thought. He’s one of the good guys but likes to pretend he’s anything but.

His food…who knew eggs could taste this great? In exchange for yet another plate, I could offer to fix the light fixtures. This place is off code.

And there I go, thinking like my father. Instead of teaching me construction, he should’ve taught me how to socialize. I wish my aunts had been around more often during my teenage years. I’d be a little cooler, or at least I’d know how to make friends easily.

Auggie takes the empty plate from my hands and offers me some milk. I nod, that sounds better than whatever they’re serving upstairs.

“It must be hard moving away from all your friends and family,” he says.

I shrug and smile. I don’t make friends easily. Well, actually, I don’t make friends at all. Dad and I have always been on the run. Running to school, running to a construction site, running to tae kwon do, running to the grocery store…

There’s never time to exchange more than a greeting and a weak how are you before I have to go again.

During my spare time I help Dad around the house or at work. If I do the latter, it pays for my knickknacks, and I get to spend time with him.

“It’s just Dad and me,” I remind him.

“Any other family?”

“Mom’s family faded away after she died. Dad’s sisters stepped up, but now they have their own families, so during my teenage years it was just the two of us.” I drink some of the milk he poured me.

“Grandparents?”

“How about you?” I fire back without answering his question. And study him.

He’s not as bad as I thought earlier. In fact, he’s very nice. And good looking. Tall, mussed-up, dark hair, hazel eyes. Black t-shirt hugging his lean and defined muscles. There’s a playful tug at the corner of his mouth, and I see a dimple forming on the left side of his cheek.

He turns me on, but he’s he and well, I’m me.

Claudia Burgoa has fallen under a special magical star that has transformed her already excellent writing talent to a whole new level. Her last few books have been romantic perfection.

I absolutely loved Someday Somehow because I could easily identify with both Georgie and Auggie on some many levels. We all have that special friend that means more than words could describe. This special kind of friendship is a safety zone where anything can be said or done without judgement and complete support.

Auggie and Georgie met in college and decided they needed a best friend rather than a one night stand or coed fling. This friendship survived attempted dating endeavors, the pressures of academic success, the floundering of finding the right kind of career that will fit for years, family expectations, and dreams for the future. The one thing they took for granted was each other until it was almost too late. They both realized their love for one another at the wrong times and neither knew how to express the real feelings in their heart. It will take a sabbatical in Europe, an abrupt career change, a creative culinary challenge, and complete focus before they find their happily ever after.
