Synopsis

Melanie Winters and Daniel Montgomery shared a love most only dream of, a love they believed bonded them together for life.

When their world is shattered by the tragic loss of their daughter, overwhelming grief and misguided guilt distorts the truth, and their relationship ends in uncertainty and unanswered questions.

For nine years, they drift through life, each unable to forget the one who holds the strings to their heart. In an attempt to escape the pain of her past, Melanie finds herself trapped in a loveless marriage, while Daniel loses himself in a career that means nothing without Melanie by his side.

Now, when their lives again intersect, neither can deny the connection they felt so long ago. But will the power that drew them together be enough to heal the wounds from their past, and will they have the courage to overcome the insecurities and fears that threaten to keep them apart?

Pulled is a story of attraction and separation, of destiny and duty, of a love so strong it refuses to give up even when all others have.

“Okay, this one did it for me in a big way. I’m an angst-lover. And by that I mean, I’m a Thoughtless, Beautiful Disaster, Love Unscripted, Slammed, Fifty Shades of Everything, kind of reader. But there’s gotta be an HEA. And not a half-done HEA but a real yeah-this-story-has-been-agonizing-but-look-it-was-all-worth-it HEA. So, that said, I earnestly recommend this book. If you’re like me, you’ll like this. Enjoy!” LitJunkie

About On Solid Ground:

June 5, 2008 I made a mistake of epic proportions. Moving home was an easy choice because I knew that I had to make things right. I had hoped to win back Harley’s friendship, but I never imagined that I’d win her heart … or the heart of her son. Now that I have, I’m never letting them go. They’re my life, the reason I breathe. We’ve worked hard to get where we are, and we’re finally standing on solid ground.

Or so I thought …

***

Tyson’s ex-fiancé wasn’t supposed to move back to St. Louis … that wasn’t part of the plan. And she sure as hell wasn’t supposed to start working with him. I trust him—at least I think I do—but when secrets are being kept and things start to unravel, I’m left wondering if I made a mistake. I allowed myself to fall in love with the only man to ever break my heart.

And now I’m afraid he might break it again …

This is a Harley and Tyson Touch of Fate Novella and can be read after book #1 or book #2 but should not be read as a standalone.

Synopsis

Book one and two in the USA TODAY bestselling series, King.
King: Homeless. Hungry. Desperate. Doe has no memories of who she is or where she comes from. A notorious career criminal just released from prison, King is someone you don’t want to cross unless you’re prepared to pay him back in blood, sweat, sex or a combination of all three. King’s future hangs in the balance. Doe’s is written in her past. When they come crashing together, they will have to learn that sometimes in order to hold on, you have to first let go.
Tyrant: I. Remember. Everything. But the relief I thought I would feel never comes, and I’m more afraid now than I was the morning I woke up handcuffed in King’s bed. Because with the truth comes dark secrets I was never meant to know. I will put the lives of those I love most at risk if I let on that my memory has returned, or if I seek help from the heavily tattooed felon who owns me body and soul. I don’t know if I’m strong enough to resist the magnetic pull toward King that grows stronger every day. He’s already saved me in more ways than one. Now it’s my turn to do whatever it takes to save him. Even if that means marrying someone else…

King Excerpt

King

Tattooing Doe was the single most erotic moment of my life. Marking her perfect, pale skin with a tattoo I’d designed for her made me so fucking hard I had to adjust myself every thirty seconds in order to concentrate on my work.

When I was done, I handed her the hand mirror, and she walked over to the full-sized mirror that hung on the back of the door, like she’d seen dozens of my other clients do before. When she held up the hand mirror, she gasped.

“What?” I asked in a panic, hoping she didn’t already see what I’d hidden in the tattoo. I was an asshole for putting it there. I was an asshole for tattooing her in the first place.

I was just an asshole.

But I couldn’t help myself. My name needed to be on her. It wasn’t enough just to call her mine. I needed to mark her as well. So hidden in the vine work under the quote I found that I thought was perfect for her, was my name.

KING was woven into the design. In order to see it you had to tilt your head or otherwise you wouldn’t notice it. But it was there.

I would tell her eventually of course, but I wanted it to be my secret for a while. She’d stopped being my possession a while ago, a lot longer before I cared to admit, but I still felt the need to mark her as mine.

I still liked the idea of owning her.

Only now, she owned me, too.

She didn’t notice the name. Tears filled her eyes. She stood there staring at the hand mirror in just her panties. Little cheeky ones where her ass hung out of the bottoms. Her tits were only inches from my face. Her tears of happiness made my dick twitch. Although her sad tears evoked the same response.

My dick wasn’t partial to which kind of tears he liked.

I took the mirror from her hand and lifted her up onto the counter. “You like it?” I asked, pushing her panties down her legs.

“I love it,” she panted, wrapping her legs around me, drawing me close. Her wetness soaking my boxers. I pushed them down with one hand. I’d been hard for three hours, the entire time I’d been working on her, and couldn’t wait any longer. I pushed inside her tight, wet heat.

We both moaned at the contact.

“You love it?” I asked, needing to hear her say it again.

“Yes, I love it!” she said as I thrust up into her, hard. “I love it. So much. I love you.”

I froze when I heard the words, and when I did, her eyes flung open.

“I didn’t mean—”

“Shut the fuck up.”

“Oh my god, I have that word vomit thing. I’m sorry. Shit, I just meant that—”

“Shut the fuck up!” I demanded, thrusting hard to get her attention. She closed her eyes, and her head fell back. “That’s fucking better. Now, keep that pretty mouth of yours shut while I fuck you.”

“Okay,” she whispered, breathless.

“Shut up,” I said again, and she closed her mouth. “Shut up so I can fuck you…and show you how much I love you.”

She nodded and although her eyes stayed shut, a tear rolled down her cheek. I sucked it off her chin before it could fall to the floor.

Then, I fucked her.

Hard.

I showed her how much I loved her until I couldn’t tell where I started and she began. Until all that was in that room was me and her and the thing between us that kept pulling us together like magnets. Until we were lost in sensations and orgasms.

And in each other.

I fucked her until we were one person, and in a way we were, because I’d lost myself along the way and I found myself again in the most unlikely place.

I’d found myself again in the haunted eyes of a girl who was just as lost as I was.

Or maybe, we didn’t find each other at all.

Maybe, we just decided to be lost together.

tyrant teasser

Tyrant Excerpt

He cupped my ass and lifted me up, wrapping my legs around his waist. “There was one point I’d made the decision to tell you the truth. I owed you that much. But then all the shit went down with Isaac and Preppy, so when I made the deal with your father for Max, I thought I was doing you a favor by giving you your life back and getting you out of all the shit that came with being in mine.”

I squeezed my thighs around his waist, rubbing myself against his hardness. I moaned. “But you weren’t giving me my life back.” I corrected. I placed my palms on his cheeks and held his face in my hands, searching for any sign in his eyes that what I felt for him might have been wrong, but instead what I found was a resounding need to fix what was broken between us. Tears formed in my eyes. “You were taking it away.” King’s lips parted. He ran his thumb across my lower lip, turning his head he kissed his way up my arm.

“Goosebumps,” King observed, running his fingertips across my already stimulated skin. I bit my lip and stifled a moan.

“It’s just the heat,” I lied.

“You’ve got that fucking right,” King growled, bending my wrist behind my back, his lips came crashing down over mine. We were a tangling of lips, clanking of teeth, sloshing through the water to better line ourselves up with each other. It wasn’t pretty.

It was need.

“I’m still fucking mad at you for letting me go,” I said into his mouth, while our tongues did things other parts of me throbbed to do.

King stilled and held my face away from his, our chests heaving in unison, my erect nipples rubbing against his hot hard skin as we panted together. Our breaths mingled in the air. He ran his hand down the side of my face and cupped my cheek in his palm. “I didn’t give you away, Pup. I released you.”

I stilled. “You released me?” I couldn’t hide the hurt in my voice. For some reason, releasing me sounded worse than letting me go.

King ran his tongue across the tip of my earlobe, holding me tightly against his warmth. Chills ran down my spine and into my very core and they had nothing to do with the temperature of the rain.

“I tried to release you, Pup. For Max. But there was a major problem with that plan, and no matter what happened, it would never have worked,” King confessed.

“Why is that?” I asked, needing to know, but at the same time acutely aware of the pulsing between my legs. Relief and release was only a scrap or two of fabric away. Throbbing for me.

“The problem was…you never released me,” King growled, crashing his lips to mine. He moaned into my mouth when I rubbed myself up against his straining erection. He pushed the fabric of my shorts aside and the second he parted my folds with his index finger, I shuddered. He plunged a long index finger inside of me, and for a second my eyes rolled back in my head until he withdrew it. I cried out in frustration, wiggling myself against him, needing him to make me feel anything other than empty.

Perfectly Imperfect

By Harper Sloan

Synopsis

Mirror, mirror … who’s the fairest of them all?

I still cringe when I hear that line. A fairy tale that had girls pretending they were the fairest, the most beautiful, and the most entitled. A fairy tale most couldn’t grow out of turned my haunted childhood memories into a living nightmare. Girls who grew up believing that pile of garbage became the meanest of all ‘mean girls.’

And those mean girls were right – it was a line meant for all the beautiful people in the world – and I knew the answer would never be me.

The women with long legs, flat stomachs, and perfect chests.

The type of women Kane Masters gravitated toward.

Well, that’s definitely not Willow Tate.

No. That will never be me.

Because I’m completely imperfect.

And … I hate myself.

I have no idea what Kane could possibly see in someone like me when he could have them.

Michel’s Review

Perfectly Imperfect by Harper Sloan is the best book she has written.  Although it is a romance themed book it is also an inspirational book.  Harper Sloan bared her soul in this beautiful story of a woman that had very low self esteem.  We all have insecurities and are harsher on ourselves than most people see on the surface.  Harper dug deep and put these inadequate feelings into words and created a story I think we all can relate to.

We are all shaped and molded by our childhood.  Our childhood experience shapes our perceptions of ourselves and how we perceive others.  As adults we know we are in charge of our own destinies but it’s hard to let go of what has been ingrained into our souls from an early age.  It can take life changing events or one little word or action to change our destiny and take us on a new path.  A new path that changes the way we perceive ourselves.  A door that opens our hearts and allows us to love ourselves just as we are.

Willow has had a low self image all of her life.  She has settled for what she perceived would make others happy rather than making herself happy.  She has settled for a demeaning job.  She has settled with a verbally abusive husband.  She has lost herself until the day her husband cheated on her with her younger, perfect sister.  That day was the beginning for Willow Tate.  It was a long hard journey that led her to finding the once in a lifetime love and learning to love herself.  She has become the strong dynamic woman she was meant to be.

Kane always saw the Willow Tate that was hidden beneath the surface.  He saw her beautiful soul.  He will do everything in his power to earn her trust, love, and acceptance.  He will show her everyday how wonderful and beautiful she is inside and out.

Willow and Kane have found each other.  Willow has become a strong, confident woman but can she compete with Kane’s past?  A past that could destroy their relationship and beat her down once again?

Read Perfectly Imperfect by Harper Sloan.  It will change the way you look in the mirror.

About DARING HER LOVE:

This BRADEN novella features Kat Martin, Brianna Heart’s best friend from HEARTS AT PLAY (The Bradens, #6) with appearances from the hot, wealthy, and wickedly naughty Bradens you know and love.

In DARING HER LOVE…

Kat Martin knows what she wants in a man—someone stable and adoring, definitely not the type of guy who sleeps around. After all, Kat rarely does the wrong thing—until she meets seductively enticing Eric James, and suddenly wrong has never felt so right.

When it comes to his career, race-car driver Eric James is intense, obsessive, and passionate, but when it comes to sex, there’s only one kind—daring, unbridled, and no-strings-attached.

One stormy night, a delayed flight and the dangerous allure of the unknown leads Kat to throw caution to the wind, and she indulges in a rendezvous that she vows to immediately forget—but the secret tryst stirs something possessive in Eric, and forgetting is not an option.

Tracey’s Review

So, a guy walks into a bar…

Tired of the way she’s been living, and wanting to make some changes, Kat Martin is leaving her old life behind. On her way to Colorado, and stranded in an airport bar, Kat is just passing time until she can catch a flight. Until Eric walks in.

Eric James, race car driver, and, oh, my good Lord, one heck of a delicious man, is on his way to Colorado, too. Meeting Kat provides a diversion too good to pass up, if only he can get her to agree.

DARING HER LOVE, Melissa Foster’s offering in the 1001 Dark Nights novella series, is sweet, sexy, and, like the amuse bouche that it is, leaves the reader wanting more, more, more. Engaging from start to finish, I could not have enjoyed this Braden family novella more. Kat is down to earth and real, dealing with issues that most of us can relate to in terms of relationships, what she’s settled for, and what she is not willing to settle for anymore. She is in touch with her needs, and sees very quickly that Eric is a risk well worth taking. Eric is not just the bad boy that Kat has pegged him as. He’s also sweet, sexy, and unwilling to let Kat walk away and pretend that their encounter never happened.

I would love to see more of Eric and Kat, so, Melissa, if you’re listening, yeah, get on that! 4.5 hot, sweet, please give us more stars for DARING HER LOVE. Add it to your TBR; you’ll be hooked, too.

A Gypsy Brothers Epilogue

By Lili St. Germain

Buy: Amazon / Amazon UK / B & N / ITunes / Kobo

Synopsis

The final, shocking conclusion to the #1 bestselling Gypsy Brothers series.

Juliette Portland’s purpose was simple: Seduce. Kill. Avenge. Once Dornan Ross and his sons were dead, her future was supposed to be clear. Her life was finally going to begin. And love… Against all the odds, she had the love of a boy she never thought she’d see again.

Everything should have gone according to plan. Everything should have been easy once Dornan was dead and buried.

But nothing’s ever that easy, is it?

Juliette

I might have survived Dornan’s wrath, but I was different then. Younger. Stupider. I’ve had too much time to think since I got out of the cage he locked me in. I’ve had too much time to dream about all the things he did to me.
I think about revenge a lot. When I’m thinking of the way the light dimmed in Dornan’s dying eyes and the way he said you killed my sons.
How beautiful it was, and how hollow.

Jason

Sometimes, I can’t tell if I’m starting to become him. My father. Dornan. The way I am, the things I’ve done—they make Juliette’s sins look like child’s play.
Of course, I’d never tell her that. I’ll never tell her the things I’ve done.
It doesn’t mean she won’t find out anyway.

Excerpt

“When you blank out. When you go away. You’re with him, aren’t you?”

I take a step back. I feel like I’ve been punched. I don’t respond. I don’t even say, who do you mean, because we both know who we’re talking about here.

“Hey,” Jase snaps. “I want you to answer me.”

I can’t breathe. It’s like Dornan’s in the room. I feel his warm breath on my neck, the way he always tasted the same in my mouth. Like salt and cigarettes.

“Answer me,” Jase growls.

I break. “What?” I hiss. “What do you want from me? Do you want me to lie? I was supposed to kill him, and that was meant to be the end of it.”

Jase looks like he’s about to hit another wall. Or me.

“He’s dead,” he spits, “He’s dead, but you’re the one who’s gone. I need you to come back. I need you to come back to me.”

“I don’t know how!” I yell.

“You’re not trying!” he explodes. “You just sit here, in your dark little universe, thinking about him! Did you think about him while I was fucking you last night? Huh?”

Michel’s Review

The Zero Hour is the grand finale of the Gypsy Brothers series.  It cannot be read as a stand alone novel and must be read in series order.

Jase and Jules have reached the Zero Hour.  Revenge has been taken. The final judgement has been rendered. Souls have been taken and it has not only been their enemies souls.  They have paid the price but it wasn’t enough.  They may have had a victory but it was only the beginning of the real war.  The ultimate battle has begun.  They are at war within themselves, trying to find peace within their souls.  The battle scars they carry are not just on the surface but covering their souls.  The Gypsy Brothers and Dornan Ross destroyed them completely. Now they will have to fight their biggest battle, they will have to fight their demons and find the soul they lost long ago.

Revenge isn’t always sweet.  It has tentacles that are far reaching long after retribution has been delivered.  Both Jules and Jase were raised in a horrific world that destroyed everything good within themselves.  Their only saving grace was their love for one another and the deep bond they shared.  This may not be enough.  Both are too damaged.  To top it off they are still on the run from the Cartel and The Gypsy Brothers MC.  The DEA is using them as pawns and no matter where they go they are not safe.  It’s time to take matters into their own hands and destroy their enemies once and for all.  It is time to take back their souls.  This time it is not about revenge.  Is not about surviving their world.  It’s about taking back their lives and living them.  It’s the Zero Hour and it’s time to seize their lives.

Lili St. Germain delivered an epic ending for the Gypsy Brothers series.  It was a fast paced, nail biting ending with an emotional twist that validated every moment of their lives. It was the perfect ending for Jules and Jase.  They seized the moment and found their happiness as the clock ticked down to the Zero Hour.zero hour epilogue banner

Seven Year Itch Series – Book 3

By Jennifer Foor

Buy: Amazon / B & N / ITunes / Kobo

Ten years ago I fell in love with a married woman. I walked
away so she could be happy, moving across the country to make sure I put space
between us. We severed ties, and I promised myself I wouldn’t look back.
Since then I committed to someone else, and we have a child
and a life many would wish for. Except, it’s never been enough for me. There’s
always been something missing; something I never wanted to admit.
With my own marriage failing, I’m forced to go back to my
hometown to bury the man who raised me. I never expected to see her there, and
nothing could prepare me for what would happen the moment my arms wrapped
around hers again.

EXCERPT

“You have every right to assume this can’t be anything more than a temporary affair. I don’t blame you for being cautious, but there is something I want you to know.”

She turned around, finally looking right at me with those hesitant eyes. “What?”

“I still love you.” I swallowed the lump in my throat as the words came out, silently praying she wouldn’t force me to leave. It wasn’t every day that I told someone other than my wife I loved them, but in this instance it was the truest statement I’d ever made. “I feel like I’ve loved you for a lifetime. It’s true. I have loved my wife, but it’s not the same. It’s always been you, Rach. You’re the only woman I know I’ll never be able to let go of. Staying away was my only option. I did it to protect both of our lives, but there’s nothing standing in the way anymore. Please don’t deny us a second chance.” I paused one more time. “I need you, just as much as I think you need me.”

Her shoulders relaxed, and I watched her purse fall from her grip and hit the concrete ground. She shrugged while staring into my eyes. Her lips were trembling, allowing me to almost sense the connection between us. “I’m not strong enough to be with you again. I can’t handle anymore heartache. Being close to you scares me, because I’m tired of the pain and suffering.”

I took two steps forward, breaking the distance between us. “I’m not capable of hurting you again, Rach. If you give me this chance I promise I won’t let you down. Let me be your friend again, and whatever comes with it will be determined by both of us.”

After giving up the love of his life ten years earlier, Chad had done his best to move on and make a new life for himself, keeping his promise to close that chapter once and for all. When circumstances bring them together again, it’s like no time has passed at all, but the things that we want often don’t come easily, and Chad must decide where he belongs.

I am a big fan of second-chance love stories. I love to see soulmates finally get their match, to see the big Happily Ever After, and BELONG by Jennifer Foor seemed like it was going to give me just that. But, oh, my goodness, the stars were just not aligned for Chad and Rachel, the woman that he’d loved so long ago, and who came back into his life, and this made for a frustrating and somewhat difficult read for me. Here’s the thing: I like a little angst with my HEA, but I had a very difficult time connecting with both Chad and Rachel. Everything happened so quickly, and I could not understand the ease with which they made some of their decisions.

Ultimately, I was happy with the way Jennifer brought things together, but it was quite the journey getting there. 3.5 stars for BELONG, with the caveat that I would definitely read more of Jennifer’s work, because, while this book was not my particular cup of tea, I feel sure that it will resonate with other readers.

Synopsis

Lexi has always had a reputation for accidentally messing things up, but she never thought she’d be jobless and homeless at twenty-six. With no other choice, she returns to her hometown to do a little life searching.

Lexi quickly discovers a lot has changed in the eight years since she first left Fairville, a quirky little town in the middle of nowhere. Most of her best friends from high school are now married and have children, and her parents have sold their home and are now living in a loft above their store. One thing still remains the same, though. Anders, her old high school crush is still as hot as ever.

Determined to get her life back on track, Lexi starts searching for an apartment and a job. But during a crazy night at one of her friend’s bachelorette parties, she wakes up in Las Vegas, hungover and married to Evan, Anders’ brother, a guy she barely knows. So much for getting her life back on track.

Michel’s Review

It’s always great to sink your teeth into a fun and delightful book that leaves you with a big smile and the warm & fuzzies.  After reading so many dark thrillers and emotionally dark novels in the past few months, I needed this kind of book.  To my great surprise, Jessica Sorensen released The Diary of Lexi Ashford.

Jessica Sorensen stepped outside of her usual type of novels.  Rather than having a dark angsty romance, she created a zany heroine from a small quirky town.  Lexi Ashford is one of those delightful souls that marches to her own beat.  She doesn’t let her accidental mishaps, her scattered sense of time, her bad taste in men, or disorganized life bring her down.  She embraces it with gusto.  She has made her own path in the city.  The last thing she wants to do is move back home to Fairville.  In her mind Fairville is the very definiton of hell and she couldn’t get out fast enough.  She would rather eat pigeon poop than return home with her tails between her legs.  She’s managed to stay away for eight years.  She’s managed to survive city life and different jobs without too much hassle.  When a series of events in her life, some by her own doing and others by fate, leave her destitute and homeless, she is forced to return home to Fairville.

Things have changed in the oddly weird and boring Fairville.  Those she once considered the spawns of satan are vying to be her friend.  The town has changed, her parents have changed, the life she once knew has changed.  Are the changes for the better?  She’s not sure yet.

When she’s invited to a glitter themed bridal shower in Vegas by one of the girls that was her nemesis in her teens, she’s in for an adventure of a lifetime… or the worst mistake she could ever make in her life.  She can survive the glitter.  She can survive the demanding bridal shower party schedule.  She can survive about anything except… that maybe she might have gotten married.  She may have married the guy known as the sexy stranger that is really the younger brother to her high school crush.  Evan McKay may have been her weird friend in high school but now he is a sexy stranger she doesn’t know.  What’s a girl to do?  I guess we will have to stay tuned to see if Lexi can survive a Vegas wedding, gnomes in the bathroom, and glitter galore in the quaint, quirky, dwelling of Fairville.

Lexi Ashford is in for the adventure of a lifetime and is going to learn there’s more to Fairville than 80’s themed pie eating contest.  Let the fun begin.

Jessica Sorensen has outdone herself.  I thoroughly enjoyed this book and laughed my butt off.  I loved the quirky characters, the delightful town, and Lexi Ashford.  I can’t wait for part two to release.  Jessica has some delightful surprises up her sleeve for Lexi Ashford.  Evan Anders…watch out…Lexi Ashford is back in town!

Summary:
It ends with the beginning. This legendary,
indie, cult-favorite series ends its tale with the story of the Poughkeepsie
brotherhood before the tattoo. Before the train station, before the church,
before a criminal empire there was a foster home and three teen boys who chose
each other as family, because the ones they were born into didn’t existStill in high school, Beckett is already laying the groundwork for a grander
life ahead, one where his brothers want for nothing and get some respect for
once. But even as he plans, Beckett must decide if he’s ready to make that
choice—diving in to a life that trades his chance at a future, his chance at
something as simple as first love with a girl named Candy Cox, for their chance
to find happiness.Blake, Beckett, and Cole’s devotion to each other is forged by fists and the
driving need to belong somewhere, to do more than just survive this life.
Readers of the series know they each get there in the end, but before we count
smiles, we must first shed tears. These early days of the Poughkeepsie brotherhood
will play on your heartstrings before serrating them with a knife; they’ll lift
your soul with music, only to leave you with nothing but a desperate prayer for
hope. And when you reach the end of the beginning, you’ll be ready to start the
series all over again.

Excerpt:

When
she ducked under the bleachers, he was a dick, right off the bat. His buzz was
wearing off, but he was still high and broken at the closeness of her. “You’re
missing your boyfriend during his lawn ballet.” He assumed a stance—douche
mixed with confrontational—that he knew stopped people. It set up his walls
real nice. With everyone.
Everyone
but her. She walked right up to him. She pushed him hard once, twice, until his
back hit one of the supports. And then she slapped him.
He
took the slap and rolled his eyes. “That all you got for me, pink princess?”
And
then she was kissing him. Oh, God. Kissing him and palming him with the same
ferociousness he felt. He grabbed the metal behind him to keep from attacking
her and nailing her right on the concrete floor littered with cigarettes and
chip bags.
She
pulled away and slapped him again, growling, “Fuck you, Beckett Taylor. Don’t
you ever do that to me again. I’m worth more than that, and you know it.” She
stepped back, leaving cold space and his heated erection between them.
He
swallowed, his pounding heart trying to beat some common sense into his brain
again. It wasn’t working. He let go of the bleachers and advanced. “You have
some fucking nerve. You’re the one up there prom-queening it with goddamn
Ryler.”
She
stood her ground as he came at her. And he knew he was intimidating. Shit,
full-grown men stepped aside when he was coming. But Candy raised her chin. He
was amazed at the fight in her, right there. He pulled her into a dip, just
like fucking Pyler had, except he did it like a man who wanted a woman and knew
what to do with her body. Candy needed to push him away; she needed to turn her
head.
Instead
she groaned and bit his bottom lip hard enough to draw blood. He put his hand
between her legs and dragged it up to her breast, squeezing hard so she would
feel it through her coat. She sunk her nails into the skin at his neck. She was
a buried treasure. He was sure as fuck no one knew about this side of her. Only
he could get her panting like she was. He spanked her bottom once.
“Ow.”
She was shocked.
He
stopped kissing and looked her in the face as he spanked her again, more
forcefully this time.
Her
“Ow” was quieter, and the hunger in her eyes far deeper than her years.
Again
he spanked her. And this time she purred. Fucking purred. He began slow,
circular caresses over the denim that covered her ass. He was desperate to see
the red imprints from his hand.
“Fuck
it.” Beckett picked her up and set her back against the metal support he’d
tried to cling to before.
They
weren’t alone. Red tips of cigarettes glowed, gentle murmurs of illicit
behavior could be heard if you knew how to listen for trouble. Still, he held
her against the pole and mimicked the motions he was desperate to do with her.
He dropped his mouth to the zipper on her coat, which kept her safe from all
his intentions. He used his teeth to pull it down to her cleavage. He buried
his face, licking and nuzzling her sweet-smelling neck. He used his chin to
move material so he could access more of her chest. She smelled like goddamn
candy. His dick could pack gunpowder in a cannon it was so fucking hard.
After
a moment, the murmurs added up. Too many. He glanced around and noticed the
cigarettes being stubbed out. He let his prize slide down the metal gently. He
leaned down to kiss her lips, then her forehead, right under the edge of her
fuzzy hat before whispering, “Go. Cops are here. Go.”
And
then Candy, sweet-smelling, homework-doing Candy, stuck her hand in his
jacket’s hidden pocket and took the gun out. He pulled her hands and his gun
close to make sure the safety was on before letting her tuck it into her bra.
“Anything
else?” she asked.
And
then he slipped the rest of the merchandise in his left pocket into her right
one. She turned and left.
“And
don’t you ever talk to me again, Taylor. I have a boyfriend!” She stormed away
as the resource officer stepped up next to him.
“You
have a way with the ladies, son.”
“I’m
not your son.”
“That’s
the truth right there. ’Cause if you were, you’d be on that field kicking
footballs instead of selling at my school.”
When
Beckett was let off with a warning due to lack of evidence, his one thought was
of her. Candy was so perfect for him it hurt.

Michel’s Review
The Poughkeepsie Brotherhood Series by Debra Anastasia is one of my all time favorite series.  This series has touched my soul and the characters will live on in my heart. Each of these men have a story to tell, a bond that cannot be broken, and the capacity to give unconditional love.  Their hearts are pure, generous, and forgiving.  Their souls are scarred but not broken.  They are survivors that made their own small world of Poughkeepsie a better place.
It would seem odd to have the beginning of the story at the end of a series but I personally think it was brilliant.  It allows the readers to get to know the men they have became and experience their lives as adults.  Their personalities and actions prove that their is hope for the hopeless.  It proves that love is the key to happiness.  It proves that one can be whole and successful no matter where they began or how they ended up because of their capacity to love completely.
A homeless musician, a man of the cloth, and a crime/drug lord tied together for life. Brothers by choice.  Brothers by heart.  These three men are remarkable in their own way and together they are unbreakable.  Throughout the Poughkeepsie Series we meet each man and experience their personal story.  We see how their choices shape their lives. We see how their dedication to one another touches every person they come in contact with.  We see how when they finally find their soulmates they evolve into even better men. The Poughkeepsie Series is truly dynamic, thought provoking, and heartwarming.  Now the reader will get to meet these men as boys and experience how their deeply committed bonds of brotherhood came about.  These beautiful young men experienced a horrific childhood but still found the acceptance they were seeking.  They found that family is not defined by blood.  It is truly a beautiful beginning.
Debra Anastasia has once again awed me and captured my heart.  I wanted to reach into this book and snatch Blake, Cole, and Beckett and hug these beautiful boys. I wanted to become their mommy and shower them with the love they deserved.  But if I did that they would not of been the men they are today.  So I will just love them with all my heart and brag about their stories to any and all who will listen.
Debra Anastasia, thank you for one of thee most beautiful reading experiences.  Blake, Cole, and Beckett will never be forgotten or unloved.  They have become family in my heart and soul.

Smaller SHh Debra Anastasia TwitterThere are a lot of eyes in Debra Anastasia’s house in Maryland. First, her own creepy peepers are there, staring at her computer screen. She’s made two more sets of eyes with her body, and the kids they belong to are amazing. The poor husband is still looking at her after 17 years of marriage. At least he likes to laugh. Then the freaking dogs are looking at her—six eyeballs altogether, though the old dog is blind. And the cat watches her too, mostly while knocking stuff off the counter and doing that internal kitty laugh when Deb can’t catch the items fast enough.

In between taking care of everything those eyes involve, Debra creates pretend people in her head and paints them on the giant, beautiful canvas of your imagination. What an amazing job that is. The stories hit her hard while driving the minivan or shaving her legs, especially when there’s no paper and pen around. In all of the lies she writes hides her heart, so thank you for letting it play in your mind.

Debra is eternally grateful to Omnific Publishing, which has now published five of her books: two in the Seraphim Series and three in the Poughkeepsie Brotherhood Series, as well as her novella, Late Night with Andres. That one is special because 100% of the proceeds go to breast cancer research. (So go get it right now, please!)
