Well, dang. I love Melody Grace. I know, when I start one of her books, that it will be full of love, trial, lots of heat, and, ultimately, the proverbial happily ever after. That last part is a given, and it’s one of the reasons that I grab and devour everything she writes.

And, now, THE PROMISE. Trademark Melody, from the relatable characters to the razor-sharp dialogue, the humor, the gang of friends that rounds out the story. But, oh, goodness, the feels in this one. Truly, I’m still picking up the pieces of my heart, folks, because Melody got me good with this book. I can’t remember the last time I cried this much while reading a love story, and I’m sure that I will be suffering with a book hangover for quite some time.

I don’t want to give away any of the plot, because you truly need to experience this book as it unfolds. Let me just say that THE PROMISE is far different from any book that Melody has written to date, and, while it devastated me, it was a beautiful beautiful part of her that I am happy to have experienced. Love, happiness, despair, loss, they’re all here. But what stands out the most, and what will remain, is that love surprises us when we’re least expecting it, and that life is a gift not to be squandered, but to be grabbed and lived with abandon, gusto, and joy. 5+ stars for this, one of my favorites of 2016. Follow Me by Tiffany Snow is the first book in The Corrupted series. I have to say that this series has caught my attention and may end up being my favorite series by the incredible writer Tiffany Snow. That is saying a lot because I have loved everything I have read by Tiffany Snow and give her books high praising reviews. She is the queen of romantic suspense. She is the supreme goddess of creating love triangles that leave the readers in love with both men, wanting each one to win the girl. The one thing that stands out in the Corrupted series and sets it apart from Tiffany’s other series is the leading female character, China Mack. China Mack has become my favorite female character of all time. I love her brilliance, her analytic mind, her quirky tastes, her odd OCD moments, and her clueless sense of romance. She is a breath of fresh air in the fictional world. It’s no wonder that she has captured the attention of two very different dynamic men. What she does with that attention is entertaining, comical, and brilliant. I want to be China Mack!

China Mack is a certified genius. Cysnet snapped her up before she graduated from MIT. CEO of Cysnet, Jackson Cooper ( who is almost as brilliant ) has assigned China a top secret job ( not that all of her jobs were already top secret- nothing unusual) where she will be strictly working with him. They are working on a high security project for Wyndemere, a defense contractor for the government. The project is highly sensitive and bodies have already started dropping. Not only is this new project going to create disorder in China’s work routine, it is going to change her predictable ordered life. The only problem she has had in life is keeping her pet fish alive.

Working on the Wyndemere project with Jackson Cooper is not the only interruption in the carefully, quirky ordered life of China Mack. Her sixteen year old brilliant niece, Mia, has run away from home and come to live with China. I am absolutely loving the Careless Whispers series by Lisa Renee Jones HARD! It has captivated me from the first page of the first book, DENIAL, and just keeps getting better. DEMAND picks up immediately following the OMGoodness ending of DENIAL, Book 1 in the series, and, oh, how this book continues to deliver. The intrigue, the delicious tension, the hotter-than-all-heck sexiness, Lisa Renee just keeps it all coming.

As Ella becomes more involved with Kayden and the Underground, her memories, although still sketchy, continue to return, revealing more of her past, while leaving many questions unanswered. And, as the pieces in the mystery surrounding the necklace that plays such a big part of Ella’s forgotten past begin to come together, the players in the dangerous race to find it are revealed.

As a note, the books in the Careless Whispers series build on each other, so it is important to read them in order, because you will have missed out on all the backstory if DENIAL isn’t read first. The great news there is that these books are such great reads, that you’ll devour them and be left wanting more.

DEMAND is part steamy romance, part political intrigue, and all riveting, an action-packed thrill ride that does disappoint. I did have that moment of, ‘Are you KIDDING me?!’ when I got to the end of the big reveal, only to find that I’m going to be waiting for the rest of the pieces to come together. Why? Because SURRENDER, the third book in the series, is still to come, but that just means more Kayden and Ella goodness, and I couldn’t be more thrilled. As with all of Lisa Renee’s books, DEMAND is an easy 5-star read for me, and I can’t wait to get my hands on SURRENDER come December. You’ll want to add this series to your TBR, because it is not to be missed.

I first discovered Lisa Renee Jones by ‘accident,’ stumbling upon her Inside Out series when it first released. Hooked, and a fan ever since, I’ve been looking forward to BEHIND CLOSED DOORS, a sort of ‘bridge’ book between the Inside Out and Careless Whispers books.

Let me tell you, I LOVED this book. Yes, things happen fairly quickly, but I happily invoke my suspension of disbelief in insta-love for this one, folks, because Jason and Skye were one of my favorite couples lately. (It didn’t hurt that I kept seeing a certain brother from a current television show as Jason. Okay, twist my arm, it’s Jared Padalecki…)

Skye obviously has things in her past that cause her to be wary, to seek control and ensure that she never finds herself put into the role of victim ever again. When you pair that with Jason’s determination and prowess as one of the top poker players in the world, you’ve got two very strong-willed people. The rapport between Skye and Jason is instantaneous, even if it takes them a minute to figure it out. Does Skye take chances that I, or most any woman I know, would balk at? Yes. But it works here, and the chemistry, the story, the characters, I just thoroughly enjoyed it all. The action is non-stop, the storyline engaging, if not what we “regular” folks would experience, and the mystery of the person blackmailing Jason keeps things interesting.

I have to admit that, while I love the Inside Out series, I have become a more recent and instant fan of Lisa’s Careless Whispers series. BEHIND CLOSED DOORS offers us a little bit more insight into Ella, the female lead in the Careless Whispers books, before the action in DENIAL (Careless Whispers Book 1) starts up. Her scenes in BEHIND CLOSED DOORS were so crazy that I found myself literally laughing out loud; she’s one kick-butt chick, and she is awesome.

Jason is actually one of my favorite of Lisa’s men to date, and I could have kept reading more about him and Skye (Lisa, is you’re reading this, well, you know what I’m saying…). I’m telling you, you’ll want to grab this 4.5-star read, and the first two in the Careless Whispers series, too, and get caught up, because SURRENDER, the third book in the series releases in January, and you’ll want to be ready for it. You’re welcome.

Griffin stood in front of her. “We’re practicing Sunday night’s demonstration position. I want to make sure you’re comfortable with it and that it’s not too taxing before we do it in front of an audience, especially since the demos always run a little longer.”

“Bentley!” Brock barked and shook his head.

I wanted to put my phone down. Really I did, especially since I had to snap on my studded cuff bracelet and that required use of both hands, furthermore because Tori had given me a fifteen-minute warning close to fifteen minutes ago, but I couldn’t let the damn thing go.

I couldn’t stop looking at it either.

My stomach was clenched. I was biting my fist and pacing the length of the bed, head down and eyes anxiously focused.

But when the little bubbles floated in teasing intervals on my screen and I knew Brian had seen my photo, that’s when the real panic set in.

Would he like how I looked? Would it be how he had imagined and confessed to imagining countless times late at night to me, or better, would my photo exceed the limits of his imagination and paint a more pleasing image in his mind?

Or would he hate it and me for sending it to him, shattering his dreamed-up spank-bank material and ruining every orgasm I ever gave him?

Which was it and why the hell was he taking so long to type? Didn’t he know this was killing me?

J. Daniels has an outstanding start in her new Dirty Deeds series with the release of Four Letter Word. I loved this book!

Sydney Paige suddenly finds herself single again. After being married for several years, she comes home from work only to have her husband declare he is filing for a divorce. She’s shocked numb. That wasn’t in the plan.

Her best friend is also having man troubles. Sydney packs up and moves in with her best friend, who lives on the coast. Rather than taking her anger out on her husband, she jumps to her best friend’s defense and calls her cheating married boyfriend to give him a piece of her mind. After slinging the dirt and using some choice foul names, she realizes that she has dialed the wrong number. The man she is degrading in the worst possible way is not the man she intended to call. With one hand clutching onto the towel at my collarbone, I use the other to motion to him. “You too.”

A lightning flash of a grin glances across his lips. “Sorry, but you just took the only towel left.”

I think Downshift by K. Bromberg may be one of my favorite books in the Driven series since the first few books in the series. It features Colton and Riley’s adopted son Zander Donovan. Zander was the troubled boy that touched Colton and Riley’s hearts. They both did everything in their power to protect, nurture, and love this very damaged little boy.

Zander is a grown man now with a promising career in racing until his past comes back to haunt him. As an adult he can realistically see the facts of his childhood life and put them in perspective. But the little boy still lives within his soul, the little boy who experienced a nightmare of a life and lost everything. That little boy never got answers to the whys and hows. Now that the truths are blatantly clear and in black & white, he doesn’t know how to handle these truths. Rather than leaning on those who love him unconditionally, he withdraws into himself and begins a downward spiral. He’s lost his place on the racing team, his reputation is on the line, and his out of control behavior is beyond repair. Colton Donovan has made a final decision in Zander’s life, he has let him go. He’s exercising hard love so that Zander can find the truths within his soul and finally have complete peace in his life. It is a hard journey for all of the family but very necessary. Zander will finally have the peace he desperately needs and realize that family comes from the heart and not by blood.

Zander left the racing world and holed up in a small coastal New England town. In exchange for rent, he is doing repairs on the property. Rather than finding a rundown cottage, he finds an unexpected quirky roommate that has more damage in her soul than he does.

Getty Caster fled an abusive, controlling marriage. Her entire life has been dictated by her extremely wealthy father and her hand chosen wealthy husband. Not only did they break Getty as a person, they also broke her spirit. She left her world behind and is determined to find herself.
