Kudos to Emma Chase for writing another outstanding romantic comedy! Tamed is the third novel of her popular Tangled series, with events occurring simultaneous to the events of Tangled. This time, Matthew Fisher shares his own great wisdom with readers on dating and relationships. He works as an investment banker at the same firm as his best friend, Drew Evans. Although Matthew is not quite as colorful in his narration as Drew Evans, his knowledge on dating, women and other subjects is definitely entertaining and quite humorous!

Matthew thought he was doing just fine until he was introduced to the wild and beautiful Delores Warren by his coworker, Kate Brooks. Dee is spirited. Bold. Intelligent. Brutally honest. A rocket scientist who dresses like a stripper to throw people off their game. A chemist who has a “nice rack” – and Matthew just happens to be a “boob man.” With his curiosity and libido both being piqued, Matthew begs Kate for a hook-up. Although Kate agrees to his request, she warns Matthew that Dee doesn’t do complicated or relationships – which sounds just perfect to him.

Matthew finds Dee interesting. Challenging. Fascinating. She holds his attention. Really, Matthew has no chance. Want a night on the town dancing? Great! In the mood for a one-night stand? No problem! Just don’t ask Dee for more than she is able to give. Having been hurt too many times by the men in her life, Dee Warren avoids emotions and commitment at all costs. Matthew thinks he can spend quality time with Dee Warren without becoming attached. After all, he is a player! Why not pick up a copy of Tamed to see how this situation unfolds?

What do I think? I absolutely love Emma Chase’s writing style! Her writing is really funny. Witty, laugh out loud funny! Her novels tend to be written from a first person point of view, with her main character dishing out plenty of advice to readers about dating, relationships and general life experiences. Emma Chase does a fantastic job of pulling off a male point of view. She just seems to understand how men are wired – how they think. Something I truly enjoyed about Tamed is that we are able to experience the events of Tangled from Matthew Fisher’s point of view – to see what transpired between Drew and Kate from a different perspective. I also have to mention that the chemistry between Dee and Matthew was scorching hot! Although Tamed is not my favorite novel of this series – that honor goes to Drew Evans and Tangled – I am adding it to my list of favorites for 2014. Emma Chase has earned a solid 4.5 star rating from this reviewer for Tamed!

The voice that came from the door was like an icy blast. “Do you have any more personal questions that are completely out of line for your relationship with my patient?”

We were only inches apart, me defiantly on my toes to try to eliminate the advantage of his height.

“You have no business questioning my patients or their family.”

Oh, I wanted to punch him. My hand curled into a fist. “You are an awful man, Darion Marks.”

His Adam’s apple bobbed up, then down, like he had swallowed something nasty. “I’m sorry I dragged you down here,” he said.

I shoved at his chest. “Sorry? You just embarrassed the hell out of me! No telling who saw that.”

I pushed him again. I was really in a fury. “Are you TRYING to get me fired?”

The contact between us sparked, like a match being lit. I forgot why I was mad. He was so freaking close. He wore cologne, just a hint of it. He smelled like heaven. My heart sped up. Crap.

Wow! If you haven’t read the Forever Series by Deanna Roy then you need to put these books on your to be read list. Deanna Roy writes a powerful story that comes from the heart. Her stories are realistic, emotional, thought provoking, and romantic. Her characters come to life. Their story will jump off the pages and grab your heart. The writing is flawless. Her subject matter is very well researched. Not only do readers experience the emotions of the characters , they also get an insight into the medical world (in layman terms). She writes the story from alternate POV’s and gives each character, whether they are the main character or a secondary character, a very strong voice.

Forever Sheltered can be read as a stand alone novel or in series order.

The readers met Tina in the previous books. She was a public speaker for suicide awareness. She was offered a job at the hospital as an Art teacher for the patients. They wanted to install a program that would be therapy for long term patients. Art is a means of self expression and Tina has an intimate understanding of the therapeutic effects using art.

Through her group sessions, she meets Dr. Darion Marks. Dr. Marks has requested that Tina do a special favor for one of his young patients.

Tina recognizes a wounded soul that has hidden layers and secrets. She is also very attracted to the handsome Doctor. She also recognizes that this handsome doctor could be the one that can bring down all the walls she has built to protect herself from her past. She cannot date him.

Don’t you just love it when you stumble on a new author and good book?

While I was attending The Tennessee Valley Author Event , a very well known author pulled me aside. She said, “There is a book I want you to read. I want you to promise not to look at the cover. Just read the book. It’s very good.”

How could I not read this book? My curiosity was piqued.

When I opened this book, I tried very hard not to look at the cover. From the very first paragraph I was drawn into the book. I could not put this book down. This book has everything a reader looks for in a good book. The story is fast paced, loaded with humor, full of red-hot chemistry and sexual tension, romantic, and hair raising suspense. And as a bonus the author created delightful, quirky characters that wiggle their way into your heart the moment they are introduced.

When I finished this book I was very satisfied with the time I had invested in it. I was heading straight to Amazon to one click the second book in this series. Finding Jordie did not end on a cliffhanger that forced me to buy the next book. I just wanted more of these characters and more of their happily ever after story.

Jordie Spagnato is a strong woman. She is a business woman, tough bar owner, single mother, and widow. She keeps her friends close to heart and loves fiercely. She has learned to be tough when necessary, compassionate towards others, insightful to people’s needs, and gives her heart in full measures. She doesn’t let the past drag her down. She moves forward in life and makes the best of it. When she meets Nathan Harper her world she created for herself is tilted on it’s axis. Before she knows what has hit her, she is head over heels in love with the sexiest man she ever met. When she finds out that man is the hottest Hollywood star, it doesn’t change her opinion of him.

Nathan Harper is enthralled with Jordie Spagnato. She looks at him as a man and not a superstar. She treats him like she treats her friends and loved ones. How could he not fall in love with her?

Just as they are about to take the next step in their relationship a nasty stalker makes his presence known. The danger is just beginning. The suspense will escalate and keep you on the edge of your seat.

This book had every element I look for in a book. It is well written and fast paced. H.J. Harley is a new author that is going to make her mark in the romance world.

Fiancée For Hire is fun, flirty, and full of sizzle.

Have you ever read a book and once you were finished decided to read it again? That is what I did with Fiancée For Hire. I adored this book. It was hysterically funny and yet the chemistry between Mac and Kelli was sizzling hot. Of course I am going to love this book because the heroine is named Kelli even if Tawna spelled it wrong. Ha! I promise that you will be hooked by the end of chapter one.

Kelli is an amazingly talented Veterinarian. Several papers published about her mad skills as a Vet. When her best friend Sheri approaches her about acting as her brother Mac’s fiancee Kelli thinks she has lost her mind. Sheri knows that Kelli has had a secret crush on Mac since they were kids. The more she thinks about this crazy scheme of Sheri’s the more she considers going through with it. There is a chance she could finally act on her crush and possibility build a spay and neuter clinic to deal with a very large and well know feral cat colony that resides in Todos Santos.

“So Mac is expecting sweet, calm, and pliable fiancée?

Sheri nodded. “And instead we send him you.”

Kelli gave her most angelic smile and sliced off the cat’s testicles.

“I’m in.”

Mac knows that he needs a fiancee if he is going to pull off the arms deal he has been working on. Why? Because Mac was a bit of a bad boy and might have messed around with Pedro Zapata’s wife. The deal would probably go a lot smoother if Zapata believed that Mac no longer had feelings for his bride. My favorite part of this book is the witty banter between the characters. It kept me turning the pages to see what kind of bomb Kelli was going to drop on him next.

“What can you tell me about the mission?”

She said the word with air quotes, a detail Mac found both endearing and irritating. “Have you heard the name Pedro Ubano Tujillo Zapata?” he asked carefully.

“No. Though I appreciate the fact that his initials spell PUTZ.”

“You’ll want to refrain from pointing that out if you meet him.”

The chemistry between Mac and Kelli was off the charts hot. Kelly is the mistress of seduction when she teases Mac while trying to pick out a cocktail dress for for dinner with Zapata. When they finally give in to their urges albeit after she repairs a prolapsed penis on a lizard in Zapata’s bathroom, it is scorching hot. Get ready for some new panties ladies.

I really enjoyed this book and would recommend it to any one that enjoys romantic comedy with a little sizzle. Tawna Fenske delivers a great read once again!

Michel’s Review

I have been dying for Craving Absolution to release. Nicole Jacquelyn’s Aces MC series has made my 2014 Favorite Reads list. I cannot praise this series enough.

With the market being saturated with Biker themed series, ranging from bad boy bikers, bikers undercover, bikers down under, and lifer bikers, I have to say The Aces MC is at the tops. It is a portrayal of a club compiled of members from various walks in life that have banned together as a family. They live by their own codes, laws, and rules. They love just as fiercely as their commitments to the club. They will give their lives, serve time, turn their backs on those who betray the club, and leave their old lives behind to live by the code. In return they will be embraced by a dedicated family that will have their backs at all times.

At times they will have to hurt the ones they love the most for the for the club. There will be times that they will have to sacrifice their own personal desires for the club. It is not an easy life.

Craving Absolution is the third book in this series. We met Casper, the new prospect for the club in the first book of this series. He is young, quiet, and a bit mysterious. He can move throughout various situations like a ghost. Thus, the nickname Casper.

In the second book we get to see who Casper was before joining The Aces MC club. He was a young man with a brilliant future. He was away at a prestigious school in the east. His academic success had gained him scholarships that would eventually land him a full scholarship to Yale. When his parents are brutally murdered by a gang with a vendetta, his life is forever changed.

At the age of fifteen he has a first hand experience with the brutality of the harsh and violent world. Through his older sister Callie he is introduced to the Aces MC club and her best friend Farrah. He will witness another world he never knew existed. He will seize the opportunity to join the Aces to get retribution for the deaths of his parents. He will find a world that is a better fit for him than the perfect world at Yale. He will find the one woman that can complete him. The life he chose, the woman he claimed will be the most challenging and satisfying endeavor he will ever take. There will be good, bad, violence, love, friendship, danger, diabolical enemies, and a support system that will have his back at all times. We met Farrah in the second book of this series. She is Callie’s best friend. They met in high school and become sisters by choice. Farrah has had a very rough life. Her mother is a drug addict and former club whore. She is the illegitimate child of the president of the Aces. He has abandoned her and left her to survive in the horrific word in which her mother lives. Not only has she suffered abuse from her mother, she has witnessed the violent world that comes with the members of the Aces. Her boyfriend is brutally gunned down right on her doorstep. She has watched Callie suffer from the enemies of the Aces. She has a very bitter attitude towards the Aces and everything they stand for. The one person that has always showed her pure kindness and respect has now joined with the Aces. Can she give her heart to Cody knowing that their life will be ruled by the very club that has done nothing but break her?

Craving Absolution has lived up to the high standards that the first two books in this series has set. I was addicted from page one and could not put it down. There were so many surprises, underlying plots, emotional scenes, and pure love scenes. This book played on every emotion. Nicole Jacquelyn is a talented writer that has created a world that is unforgettable.

I cannot wait for more from this author and this series!

I highly recommend this series. It is on my 2014 Favorite Reads list.

Q & A with Nicole Jacquelyn

What inspired the The Aces MC series?

I don’t know that there was any one thing that inspired the series. It started out as just one story—and even that started out as a really abstract idea. What if a woman on the run from her abusive husband ran straight to safety… with the bad guys. It was intriguing, and it wouldn’t let me go. So I sat down one day and started writing in between wiping my kids’ asses and doing massive amounts of school work. I honest to God never thought that it would get as big as it did. I just wanted to do it, just get my story down and have someone, anyone read it. After I’d finished Craving Constellations, I knew that I wasn’t done. Grease and Casper needed their stories… so I kept writing, and you guys kept reading. Pretty freaking cool.   Will there be more books in The Aces MC series?

Well… yes. But maybe not for a while. I’ve been saying that this is a trilogy, because that’s what it feels like. BUT, Poet’s story is already in my head… and so is another couple’s that I’m not going to detail here, but once you’ve read the book, you’ll know who I’m talking about.

Who is your favorite character in the series? 

This is hard to answer, it’s like picking a favorite child! But truthfully…

It’s Gram. Always Gram. She’s very very similar to my own Gram that I lost a few years ago, and she was my favorite real person.

Do you have any other new books or series in the works?

Yep! I’ve got a new series that’s in the early stages. I’m writing in a little notebook about all these different characters and how they’re connected. They’re foster kids, from two different families. Good families. Solid ones. And years after they all go their separate ways, military, college, work, they start trickling back into their hometown.

Tell us about your writing techniques, habits, and inspirations.

Hmmm… Well, I write at night mostly. It’s the only time that the house is quiet for longer than a few minutes- and I need the silence. I listen to music while I write, but only after I’m about 50% done with the story, because I feel like I need the first half to learn the characters’ voices before I can cloud my head with any external stuff. I drink RedBull Red like water (That stuff is amazing). I sleep about 3-4 hours a night when I’m working, and if the story isn’t flowing, I take a step back until it is, which makes it hard to work on a timeline!

I’m inspired by all sorts of stuff—reading, hanging with my kids, driving, showering, ironing my hair. It happens at the weirdest moments, and I don’t know how many times I’ve been so lost in my head that I’ve missed the turn for my kids’ school.

Jasinda Wilder stepped out of her comfort zone and dove into the paranormal genre. She added her own special flare to make this book come alive. She chose an unusual paranormal character based on ancient Arabic legends, added a contemporary life to the character, allowed her to grow as a person as well as a paranormal entity, and gave her a chance at love that will last beyond a lifetime. Not only did Jasinda create a unique character with paranormal elements, she also tackled some very heavy and disturbing issues, added a high element of suspense, gave us a little Irish magic, and managed to give us a romantic book that evolve around paranormal chaos. To combine all these elements into one book is impressive. What is even more impressive was that she made all these elements work and wrote a story that was effortless to read and kept me captivated from beginning to end. She added enough intrigue at the ending that made the readers want more of this series.

Jasinda is one of the most gifted writers I have read. Her stories flow with ease. The reader becomes immersed into her fictional worlds and becomes captivated with every word. Her characters are very real people with very real strengths and flaws. The romance she adds to every book is heartfelt, sensual, and steamy. She challenges her writing skills with every book and does not let herself get “boxed in” to writing one type of story. That is a big plus in the competitive world of publishing where the market is saturated with so many books. This is what makes Jasinda Wilder the huge success she is today. This is what makes Jasinda one of my favorite writers.

Jack and Djinn started out with an interesting scene that drew me in immediately. It starts with two homicide detectives at a crime scene investigating a badly charred body. They have never seen a body this badly burned. What is so weird about the crime scene is the lack of evidence of a fire or accelerants. There is blood at the scene that clearly does not belong to the victim. The detectives are baffled.

Detective Carson Hale is the lead investigator to this unsolved murder. Once the body is identified as Ben Wade, Carson begins to unravel the events that lead up to the demise of the victim. As he searches for pieces of the puzzle to solve this crime, the story of Miriam and Jack begins.

Two people brought together from an horrific abusive situation. Two people finding love in a world where their lives are at stake. Two people finding their magic through their love for one another. Two people doing everything they can to survive so that they can hold onto their love and future.

As the story unfolds through the eyes of Detective Carson Hale, the reader will be immersed into a world of intrigue and suspense. And when the Detective finally solves the case not only will he be astonished, he will become a very integral part of the Houri Legends. I cannot wait for the next book.

Against The Cage is the debut novel by Sidney Halston. It is a winner. The story is well written, the plot is well developed, the dialogue is fun and witty. The characters are charming, snarky, and loveable…including the Chihuahua named Drogo. This little guy ( claimed to be ¼ pit bull )made the book . He was hilarious. Best of all Against The Cage is a MMA Fighter book.

Against The Cage is based on childhood friends that become lovers twenty years later. Slade and Jack have been best friends since they were young boys. Slade’s younger, akward younger sister Chrissy was always the shy, smart, goofy girl trying to fit in with the boys. After a tragic event takes place Chrissy leaves town and returns eleven years later to bail her brother Slade out of jail.

When Chrissy arrives in town it turns out to be her worst day ever. She is pulled over for speeding after leaving the courthouse. The cop ends up being none other than Jack, her brother’s best friend. From there their relationship begins to develop. What starts as a rocky relationship harboring old resentments and issues evolves into a strong friendship that evolves into a romantic heartfelt love affair. The road isn’t easy but was fun getting there.

The chemistry and banter between Chrissy and Jack is sizzling.

Against The Cage held my full attention. It played on many emotions. One moment I was laughing my butt off, then I was yelling at the characters, then I was crying right along with them, and then I was swooning and falling head over heels in love. This book had everything a reader could want in a book.

I highly recommend Against The Cage by Sidney Halston. It’s a great debut and I look forward to reading more from this author.

Breaking Danger is book three in the Ghost Ops series. It is the continuing story of three soldiers that are considered traitors to their country. This book can be read as a stand alone or in series order.

Lisa Marie Rice has maintained an excellent standard with this series and this book. She has created an intense world where the reader is kept on the edge of their seats. The action is intense. She has created a sizzling hot romance and in each book the featured character finds their own little piece of heaven.

Jon Ryan, the best strategist and tracker in the group is responsible for bringing Sophie Daniels, a virologists, into the fold at the Haven.

Sophie Daniels worked at Arka Pharmacauticals. All the scientists from Arka are being captured. Most were able to flee but Sophie was not that lucky. Sophie has managed to steal the vaccine that cured the plague virus that was created by Dr. Lee in Arka’s Lab.

The virus was intended to create super soldiers but turned into something horrific. Instead of super soldiers there are Zombie like creatures that are super strong, fast, lacking in motor control, and mindless. Each infected person can spread this onto others.

When Jon finally attains Sophie they are forced to hide out for days. During this time they begin to get know each other and find that they are both attracted to one another. Their attraction grows into a hot, sexy, and meaningful relationship. They will have to survive the nightmare first. They are the ones that hold the cure for the virus and are the only hope for the human race.

This book is intense. It will keep the reader on the edge of their seats.

The characters are a force within themselves, put them together and they are unstoppable. The charismatic characters, the well excuted plot, dynamic dialogue, romantic scenes, and chilling suspense will keep the reader hooked until the very last word.

Forever My Girl ***** 5 Stars

I absolutely loved this book. Not only was it an emotional love story that captures your heart. You ache for both the hero and herione and all that they have lost . This book is written with a very healthy dose of how relationships really work in real life. I liked that the author wrote in first person and alternated chapters with his point of view and her point of view. The author delivered each POV and had the book progress into the story rather than being repetitive. I highly recommend this book. I can’t wait for the next book in the series.

Liam Page will steal your heart!

Finding My Way *****5 Stars

Finding My Way by Heidi McLaughlin is the fourth book in the Beaumont series. The Beaumont series is based on the members of the band, 4225 West. Finding My Way takes this series full circle. It goes back to the very beginning and gives the reader insight on the evolution of Liam Westbury, to superstar Liam Page. The reader gets to witness the painful journey this young man had to travel to become the man he is today. We fell in love with him in the first book, Forever My Girl. We forgave him for his mistakes and transgressions because he proved that he was a man of strong character and true heart. We sympathized with Josie Preston and felt Liam had to prove his love and commitment to her. While we knew the reasons behind Liam’s betrayals, it was hard to forgive him until he proved his worth as a man. Then the reader got to experience a very mature adult relationship between Josie and Liam. We absolutely loved this couple and their story. We have loved how this couple has thrived and grown throughout the Beaumont series.

Finding My Way takes us back to the beginning. This book takes the reader back to the high school days and the transgressions that Liam Westbury commits. This book is the “missing years” of Liam’s life outside of Beaumont. It is the ten year journey that leads him home to Beaumont (Forever My Girl) and to the woman he was meant to spend his life with.

This book has had mixed reactions from readers. While some absolutely loved the unfolding of Liam’s secrets and new life, others felt he was selfish, uncaring and totally self absorbed. They had invested themselves with Josie’s side of the story, her hurts, her sense of betrayal, and sympathy of the life she had to live during those ten years of separation. My reaction was with the first group, I absolutely loved Liam’s journey. I loved getting inside his head and understanding his reactions and actions. I even resented Josie for not being there for Liam when he needed her most. I felt like she was the selfish one, that she was absorbed in her own dreams, and dismissed the very thing that soothed Liam’s soul. Every one of the people that were closest to Liam wanted something from him, set expectations that were beyond what any teenager should handle, and did not give him the emotional support he so desperately needed. He was a good kid. He tried his hardest to make everyone happy. He gave everything that was expected of him and then some. In return, he was betrayed, ignored, and left with a sense of hopelessness. Liam had to rebel to become a whole man with a sense of self worth. His journey is heartbreaking, uplifting, and remarkable. Through it all he retains all the endearing qualities that made the golden boy he once was a man worth all the gold in the world. He is a giving man that is dedicated to the ones he loves. He gives the gift of friendship without any strings attached. But most of all, he knows who he is and what he wants in life.

Heidi McLaughlin showcased her gifted writing skills. Not only did she deliver an emotionally charged story that captured the reader’s heart, she displayed an honest look into her character’s psyche. She made the teenage Liam just as convincing as the adult Liam. Her portrayal was in true character at each stage of life. The reader did not feel like a teenage boy was thinking like an adult man. They did not feel like a young twenty something man was looking at life like a man ready to settle down and start a family. She honestly portrayed how a person matures in life.

This book can be read as the first book in the Beaumont series or it can be read as the last book in the series. It is superbly written and a great addition to this series.
