Spoiler Free Review

This is a spoiler free review and I will not talk about anything that happens in this book. I will say that it is a story about a marriage that fell apart after the couple faced the worst thing that could happen to anyone. Rather than coming together to get through their trying times, they both withdrew within themselves. Neither one of them was right or wrong, they were both severely damaged and surviving the only way they could. Marriage is hard in any circumstance because it’s about compromising, giving rather than taking, and communicating. Ava and Christian were thrown into life changes that spiraled out of their control. They didn’t have time to adjust to one change before the repercussions of that change evolved into another change that could not be managed or fixed. The outcome left them devastated and forever changed as individuals as well as a couple.

I remember the first time I picked up a Jasinda Wilder novel and fell hopelessly in love with her writing. It was when Falling Into Your released in 2013. I was blown away by this novel and quickly downloaded her previous books. Throughout the past four years Jasinda has grown as a writer and branched out into many other genres besides New Adult romance. She has published The Big Girls Do It Running, healthy lifestyle non fiction books, and has even become a national figure with her diet and healthy living program. Her program is successful because she tackles the real eating and exercise issues most people face daily and offers guides that are practical, sensible, and easy to follow. With her latest release, A Long Way Home, she’s back to the kind of novel that made me fall in love with her writing. The difference is that she has grown as writer and has found more compelling ways to take the readers on an emotional journey that is unforgettable. I was wrecked in a way that only Jasinda can do to me as a reader.

The moment I picked up The Long Way Home I was drawn into the story and could not put this book down until I finished it. While reading this book I experienced an array of emotions that changed with each passage. One moment I was sympathizing with Ava and literally hating Christian’s actions and then the next moment I thought Ava was the most selfish, uncaring person and Christian was justified by his actions. My heart broke for both of them and I felt their despair in the depths of my soul. I felt their pain as well as their lost identities. Through their letters to one another the reader got to experience their pre marriage relationship, their early marriage relationship, and the catalyst that tore them apart.

There was something else that made this novel more unique and more compelling than any other novel I have read. The novel was driven by Christian’s and Ava’s letters to each other but the reader was experiencing the separate lives they were living at that moment. The book focused on their relationship from the early beginnings to the present day. Christian and Ava were the main focus of the book even though there were a few other supporting characters that helped propel their story. And then the book takes a completely different direction and the supporting characters take over and completely wrap the reader up in their lives. This novel took a completely different direction and by the end of the book the reader is almost more involved with what is going to happen in their lives rather than Ava’s and Christian’s lives. It ended on two big monumental cliffhangers.

The writing was absolutely brilliant and very well thought out. After talking to Jasinda herself at UtopiaCon 2017, she gave me a little insight of what is to come next. This series was intended to take the reader’s on several emotional journeys and there are more characters with their own stories making an entrance. By the end of the series all of their stories will be wrapped up and deeply connected with one another. In many ways it’s like the real journeys we take through life. People come and go in our lives and leave their mark on us forever.

I highly recommend reading The Long Way Home by Jasinda Wilder.

Make Me Stay by Sidney Halston is the second book in the Panic series and the twin brother, Matt Moreno’s story. It can be read as a stand alone but I would highly recommend reading it after the first book, Pull Me Close.

Matt’s story takes place before his father was arrested which was before Nick’s story (Pull Me Close) and after the repercussions of his father’s crimes and near destruction of their family nightclub Panic. Pull Me Close takes place in between these two timeframes.

On the surface Matt has always appeared to be the happy go lucky twin. His easy going attitude is a deceptive armor for the complex man beneath the surface. In the beginning he’s juggling two full time careers. He’s a successful attorney and has made partner in his firm in Fort Lauderdale. From Thursday to Sunday he’s a successful businessman helping to manage the iconic family nightclub, Panic in Miami Beach. He’s trying to help his brother with the heavy burdens that come with running an iconic night club in the rapidly changing industry in Miami Beach while trying to change their father’s archaic business practices. He barely has time for himself let alone relationships. He’s known to enjoy the rewards that come with being a successful club owner. He’s known to imbibe in a little recreational cocaine and enjoy the easy pickings of ladies, His easy going mannerisms make it hard for his brother and father to take his presence in the club seriously. The Moreno brothers both had to tackle very complex issues within their family as well as their personal lives. Their relationship with each other was as close as expected of twins but also strained because of the club. This book put them on equal grounds and made them both better men. It also gave the club more life. Readers were introduced to the people that are making Panic more than a popular nightclub but a close knit kind of family. I can’t wait to see what comes next in the sultry nights in Miami at the Panic Club.

I highly recommend reading Pull Me Close by Sidney Landon. It’s an unforgettable and emotional reading experience.

“Poppy.” I whispered her name and she tilted her head back and blinked up at me.

“Wheeler.” I was astounded that there was a hint of amusement in her voice. How she could find anything to laugh about after what she just told me was unfathomable. Salvaged is Jay Crownover’s best book in both the Saints of Denver and Marked Men Series. This novel will touch your soul and leave you with a great sense of hope.

When it comes to Hudson Wheeler most would think that old saying “nice guys finish last” was created just for him. I tend to think the old saying “good things come to those who wait” was created by him.

Readers were first introduced to Hudson Wheeler in Marked Men series. This quiet, sexy, unassuming mechanic has intrigued readers throughout the Marked Men series and the Saints of Denver series. He has earned the respect of all the men in the series. His earnest quiet nature has intrigued all the ladies throughout the series. He seems like the perfect guy except for his choices in women. His fiancee is another matter. It’s blatantly obvious she’s using him and cheating. It seems like he has turned a blind eye and lets her walk all over him. When he’s finally had enough and learns that her betrayal is more than some wild escapades, he walks away with a broken heart. The problem is he doesn’t really know how to move on. He’s been with the same girl since he was in high school. Her family became the family he never had. They turned their backs on him when he broke the engagement. Now she’s pregnant with his baby so he can never completely break his ties with her. His dream of having a family has changed and he doesn’t know how to alter those dreams. He has no idea how to be a father because he never had a family. He doesn’t know how to move on because he’s only had one relationship in his life. OMG! I have been waiting for a new rock star romance to release that would WOW me like some of the earlier rock star romance series a few years ago. It seems like so many authors jumped on the rock star bandwagon and the stories began to become predictable cookie cutter romances with the same tortured rock star theme. I wanted something fresh with intriguing band members that were not your run of the mill manwhore, bad boy musicians with tortured pasts meeting naive innocent women who won their hearts. I wanted something that had some meat to it and a story that kept me fully engaged. Jennifer Lyon has delivered exactly what I wanted. Savaged Illusions has my full attention and I want more!

Savaged Dreams is the first book in the Savaged Illusions series and ended on a major cliffhanger that has left me chomping at the bits for the next book. What makes this series stand out is the band as a whole is on a journey to fame through a reality tv battle of the bands competition. The competition is cut throat and escalates as the weeks wind down to finals. What begins as a quest for fame and winning a recording contract turns into a dangerous competition that exposes their secrets and strikes at the very heart of the band. Their moral code and ethical values are put on the line and they have to choose between fame and fortune or selling out the values that formed their strong bonds in the first place. They all have their own personal demons and problems but that is glue that holds them together. They have formed very tight bonds and a kinship that is unbreakable. They have each other’s backs no matter what and nothing can tear that apart. They thought they couldn’t be broken until they got their first PR person, Liz Glasner, who becomes their YOKO ONO. Her presence in the final stages of the competition could break them. Their lead singer Justice Cade is letting Liz destroy the band. Liz isn’t good for their PR at all.

The final weeks of the competition have been stressful for Savaged Dreams. Their competitors are ruthless and exposing all their weaknesses. They have also become dangerous. When they are assigned a college student as their PR person rather than a professional, things become even worse. It doesn’t matter that she is good at what she does, she’s not savvy enough to swim with the sharks. When the sharks attack her as well as the band, they are all going to be eaten alive.

Justice Cade is trying to hold them all together. He can’t help that he is falling for Liz. When he finds out her secrets he wants to protect her as much as he wants to protect his brothers in the band. They’ve all experienced the dark side of life in some way or another and survived. I’m not going to say much more because this is a Rock Star Trilogy readers don’t want to miss. Although Justice and Liz are the main focus of this trilogy, all of the characters are intriguing. As a reader you want to get to know them all and explore their pasts. As a whole, they are mesmerizing and you want to know how their futures are going to playout. The overall plot is for the series is fresh, original, and compelling. This book was engaging and made the reader think about the ethical side of fame as well as the obvious journey to stardom. I think this trilogy could easily expand into a twelve book series.

Jennifer Lyon literally WOWED me with this fresh new series! I cannot wait for the second book, Savaged Vows to release on July 24, 2017.

The one thing I have discovered is that when I open a Jewel E. Ann novel I am in for a great surprise and an all consuming reading experience. Her writing is charismatic, engaging, and real. She delivers a very entertaining story with a sense of humor while slamming the reader with a raw emotional experience. Not only does she create an entertaining romance, the one thing that stands out is the story itself is completely original. Of course we all know that there really aren’t too many plots that are original, especially this day in age where the publishing world doesn’t have specific guidelines and rules. What makes Jewel E. Ann stand out is her gift to tap into several plot ideas and combine them to make them completely her own and completely different from the other million books out there. She adds her magical touch of creating dynamic characters that are charmingly imperfect but very endearingly human.

The first thing I want to say about this book is no matter what your reading tastes are just KEEP READING! I know many of the romance genre readers have hard limits with books about cheating and will not read a book where the synopsis indicates this may happen. Again I say KEEP READING! This book is exactly what the title is. It’s a messy, emotional, delightful story about When Life Happened.

As I began reading When Life Happened I immediately connected with Parker Cruse. Parker was betrayed by her twin sister Piper. Jewel E. Ann had me with the first page. I could not put this book down and was completely surprised by the outcome because yes I am one of those readers that absolutely hates cheating. I am hopeless romantic that believes in true love and happily ever afters. I am also a human being that understands life can spin out of control and sometimes bad things happen before the good things can be appreciated. Life is messy but it is also beautiful. Parker experienced it all. Jewel E. Ann created a beautiful reading experience that left me with the warm and fuzzies!

I stepped back and pointed down to Kevin’s massive cock. “Because of that!”

Dre’s sweet laughter filled the air. I picked up the hose again and started to spray Kevin down. “Shit man, that’s cold!” he shouted, dancing around in the grass. “And are you gonna fill me in on what exactly she’s laughing at?”

“That,” I informed him, spraying his crotch with water. “Because I just found more proof that we’re brothers than the fact that we think we both were shot out of the same cunt.” I grinned from ear to ear.

“Okay? And what’s that?” Kevin asked. I turned off the hose and Dre tossed him a towel.

I dropped my eyes to the huge slab of man meat between Kevin’s legs. “From the waist down we’re not just brothers, we’re fucking twinsies.”

“Uh, what the fuck, Preppy?” Kevin asked, putting his shorts back on.

“Quick,” I said. “Tell me something. How do you feel about pancakes?”

Kevin shivered. “Honestly, I’m more of a waffle kind of guy.”

Dre gasped.

I shut my eyes tightly, clenching my fists at my side. I cracked my neck and slowly turned to face him. I opened my eyes. “What the fuck did you just say to me, boy? You better start running.”

“Wait, what?” Kevin asked, taking a step back and tripping over the sprinkler. He stood up and bolted through the gate. I chased him through the field while Dre looked on and laughed.

“I take it all back! You’re not my brother!” I shouted, tackling him to the ground and sitting on his chest.

“What the fuck, Preppy?” Kevin asked, squirming under me.

“You and I need to have a serious fucking talk.” I leaned down until my nose was almost touching his. “About the abomination that is waffles.”

It was a bittersweet moment when I opened Preppy Part Three: The Life & Death of Samuel Clearwater by T. M. Frazier. I knew this was the final book in the King Series and I was going to have to say goodbye to one of my most beloved book characters of all time. Preppy, aka Samuel Clearwater, is a thief. He stormed into the book world, jumped off the pages, and blatantly stole the readers hearts with no apologies or regret. He was ruthless with his extreme optimism, odd sense of humor, quirky fashion sense, unique code of ethics, and his unquestionable dedication to those he loved. Was he a good guy? The general rules of society would say no. He was a criminal, a killer, and psycho. But as we all know, the definitions of good and bad can be loosely interpreted. A person can possess both of those qualities, it’s all about how they portray and use those qualities that matter most. Preppy was ruled by his pure heart. He loved unconditionally. Receiving his love was like a ray of sunshine in the midst of a hurricane. He died for those he loved. He lived to make their world a better place ( by Preppy’s definitions of better). He was the HEART of the King series.

As the rest of Preppy’s story unfolds, it is another wild ride in the gator infested waters. Preppy has become a true husband and father. He’s discovered he has a younger brother by blood. As the danger escalates there are many shocking revelations about the past. Preppy intends to redefine the past and rewrite the story. King and Bear have his back no matter what. Dre loves him unconditionally. Bo is his reason for building a future.

This is the testament of Preppy’s life.

Yeah? Shall I tell you the rest? We left the scene in the hands of the Iraqi fire brigade. It came through later that they found no sign of explosives and there were two more bodies in the back of his car … he had his wife and child in the back. I mean what the fuck? Why didn’t he get out of his car? No-one blamed me for making the call, but I have to live with it. Rumour is he’d killed his family as you could still see the throats had been cut on the two corpses and he was trying to get us to finish him off; either way it’s not like the Iraqis tried to find out. Just another bullshit incident that never made the UK news. You people have no idea what it’s like out there.

We weren’t winning. It was all just fucking pointless. Why are we there? Can you tell me? Because I haven’t got a fucking clue. When I’m out there, I’m there for my friends, for the boots on the ground – no one else. And what have we achieved? Did we make the world any safer? Is it any better for anyone living there? It’s all been so fucking pointless. All for nothing. [Getting really wound up] The cunt politicians – where the fuck are they? Hiding behind their fucking desks and pointing their fingers at each other. We’re sent out there with second-rate equipment and… [Getting more and more wound up and anxious, shaking]

HELEN
Alex! Alex! Stay with me. You’re safe now. Stay with me. Remember you are at a police station. Focus on your breathing…

Alex struggles to maintain his focus. Helen leans towards him; Alex leans away from her.

HELEN (cont.)
I think we should take a break now. Okay? Okay, Alex?

ALEX
I’m fine.

He’s angry that she’s seen him vulnerable and turns away from her.

I’ll get you some more water. Try to relax.

Helen stands up and exits room.

When I committed to the Later, After release blog tour by Jane Harvey-Berrick, I honestly didn’t realize that this was an actual play. I haven’t read a play since I was in college. At first I was apprehensive because I don’t have experience in reading or reviewing scripts. The one thing that propelled me forward was my experience with reading Jane Harvey-Berrick’s works. She is a multi talented author that not only gives the reader a compelling emotional story, she also brings her characters and their world to life. Jane Harvey- Berrick teamed up with author Mike Spears to create the play script of Later,After.

Later, After went beyond my expectations. I was floored after reading this play. It read like a first person novel. I did not need the stage prompts or actor prompts to paint a vivid picture in my mind. The words itself, the interplay between the characters came to life. As I finished this play I was…..

Disgusted

Disillusioned

Angry

Confused

Without Hope

Heartbroken

and lastly vividly AWARE….

I felt and experienced everything that this play intended the audience to experience.

It was truly moving.

Opening a Brittiany C. Cherry novel is like opening a box of chocolates. You never know what you are going to get but you know you are in for a delicious reading experience. With each chapter it’s like taking a bite out of life and experiencing an explosion of flavors, tasting the good and bad that life has to offer. After the book is finished the reader walks away with a rich and rewarding experience after sampling every emotion imaginable.

The Gravity of Us is one of those novels that will leave a lasting memory.

Graham Russell is the reclusive best seller horror novelist. He is emotionally void and lost to the world of humanity. He can create stories of pure horror, evoking emotions from his readers but he cannot relate to the emotions he has penned on a personal level. His life is perfectly synchronized to revolve around his career and his writing. Although he’s married, he’s not emotionally invested in his wife. She is just another tool that he uses to make his life more covenient. His wife is cut from the same cloth and uses Graham the same way. Together their lives work like a well oiled machine until an unwanted pregnancy and the death of his father uproots their perfectly synchronized lives. The aftermath of what follows is the rebirth of Graham Russell becoming the man he always had the potential to be. The journey is paralyzing, extremely painful, eye opening, and the greatest joy he will ever experience. Graham Russell is becoming a member of the human race. He is going jump on the emotional rollercoaster and experience the thrilling ride called life. It all begins with meeting a weirdo hippy florist and the early birth of his child.

After Lucille’s mother died when she was eighteen, she was left with the task of keeping her family together. Her mother wanted her to keep her sisters together and become the glue during the hard times and good times. Her ability to love loudly was the strength they would all need throughout life. Her mother didn’t issue this task lightly, she knew who her daughters were at the very core and knew Lucy had the strength to love them unconditionally. A life threatening battle with cancer, a heart wrenching divorce, a sister who left their family behind after the burial,and all the new paths in life will not deter Lucy from her task. It was what she was born to do. She will never change. She will always love unconditionally even if it breaks her heart. She will always be eternally optimistic even when the world is collapsing beneath her feet. She will always have hope. She will always share her unconditional love and hope with anyone who crosses her path, including the pessimistic Graham Russell.

Graham Russell’s perfectly synchronized life fell apart when his daughter was born prematurely. It was the defining moment that changed his life forever even though his wife abandoned him with a dying child. That was the day he learned he could love unconditionally even though he had never experienced love in his life. Meeting Lucy, the weirdo hippy florist was the day the heavens sent an angel to guide him through the emotionally infested waters of life. Lucy taught Graham how to express his love. She gently guided him through his emotions and taught him how to give as well as receive love. She held his hand through thick and thin, she never let go when he thought he would sink, and she always encouraged him to do it better. She gave him the courage to become the man he was meant to be. She gave him unconditional love. How could he not fall in love with this angel? He’s determined to give Lucy the same kind of love she has given him and his daughter. He will always have her back even if it means letting her go.

Once again Brittainy C. Cherry has floored me with all the possibilities this novel offered. She has a true gift of portraying humanity in all it’s glory. Adding a beautiful romance gives the book more beauty. I highly recommend reading The Gravity Of Us.
