There is a reason why Jay Crownover is one of my all time, always go to, favorite authors. The woman can write a book that leaves me with a book hangover for days. Her unique cast of characters, their imperfect lives, and life changing experiences always pack an emotional punch.

In the latest release in The Saints of Denver series, Jay Crownover proved what a phenomenal writer she really is. She took two very unlikable characters from her previous books and changed the readers perspective about these two people. She showcased their vulnerabilities, their tribulations, and insecurities but at the same time shined a light on their positive attributes that readers have not had a chance to see. She also put two unlikely people together and made the impossible work. She built a touching relationship between two lost people. It was a very touching story of love and acceptance. Redemption was possible because they believed in each other as well as themselves.

Avett Walker has been nothing but trouble. She has stolen from the bar, stolen from her father, and has betrayed the trust of everyone she comes in contact with, including her junkie boyfriend. Jay Crownover outdid herself creating Avett and Quaid’s story. I honestly hated Avett before I picked up this book. My opinion of Quaid was pretty low as well. He seemed to be self serving and greedy. Once I got to know the real Quaid and Avett, I was shocked at their backstories. I could completely understand their drive and past behaviors. What shocked me the most is how much I liked these people when all their secrets were revealed. I wanted them to have their happily ever after.

Like I said… Jay Crownover can write a book! Read Charged by Jay Crownover. It is a 5+ Star book.

Tracey’s Review

To say that Rita Clarkson has a complicated relationship with her family is putting it mildly. The personalities of the four of them couldn’t be more different, so when they embark on a cross-country trip based on a journal left to them by their mother, shenanigans are sure to ensue. Jasper Ellis is doing his best to live down that kind of reputation. Having spent most of his adult life as the resident manwhore of Hurley, New Mexico, Jasper has sworn off women and is focusing on creating a new version of himself, and things have been going just fine. Until the Clarksons show up in town, that is.

I love a book that takes me by surprise, one that has sass, humor, and enough snarky dialogue to make me laugh out loud. And, if said book has enough heat and spark to start a fire, even better. I was delighted to find that TOO HOT TO HANDLE by author Tessa Bailey has all of these things, and more.

Tessa’s books never fail to appeal. In TOO HOT TO HANDLE she’s written characters and a story that engage from the first page. There is no way not to be intrigued by the complex relationship of the Clarkson family. Watching them together is amusing, and sometimes heartbreaking, but never dull. Their cross-country trip promises to be one heck of an adventure from the very beginning, because there is just a whole LOT of personality packed into one Suburban. And, even though they seem like caricatures, each a cliché of a type, there is so much more to them than meets the eye.

The immediate heat between Jasper and Rita could power a small country. The more time that they spend together, the more it flares, and I find it a wonder that there is no spontaneous combustion going on. Serious fan myself moments going on there. But beyond all of this, there are two people that are trying really hard to refashion themselves into rebooted “better” versions of themselves. To find out that each is what helps make them that better version is bittersweet, when they’re working with a timeline of just a few days.

I am so glad that Tessa has written this book, and that there are more to follow, because I can’t imagine that the other Clarksons will be any less wonderful to experience. 4.5 deliciously funny, sexy, snarky, ‘grab this book now’ stars. Grab this book. Now.

Tracey’s Review

Although I am a huge fan of Marie Force, loving every book of hers that I’ve read, I had not actually read any of the books in her McCarthys of Gansett Island series. Crazy, I know, to think that it has taken me until DESIRE AFTER DARK, the 15th book, to start.

Now, sometimes, coming into an existing series of books this far in would make it difficult to feel any sort of chemistry with characters or with existing plot threads and storylines, but believe me when I say that it did not make one bit of difference in this case. I started and finished DESIRE AFTER DARK in one day, because, as with all of Marie’s books, I was immediately drawn in. It took me no time at all to fall completely, absolutely, head-over-heels in love with Slim, Erin, and all of the McCarthys, and to pick up the gist of the various stories from previous books.

I am not a fan of insta-love, and have a difficult time suspending my disbelief, even in romance novels. Call it lust, call it desire, but, love, no. Even though Slim and Erin have not spent a lot of time together at the start of this book, they have known each other, and forged a long-distance but constant friendship. They’ve already begun to know and appreciate each other, so that, when Slim arrives on Gansett Island, there is a history there. I love everything about the burgeoning love story between Slim and Erin, the way that they relate to each other, the dialogue, the passion. All of it fits right in with the tone of close friendships turned into love stories that are a constant in Marie’s books, and I thoroughly enjoyed reading about them.

I’m not sure that many other authors could take the serious subject that is such a big part of Erin’s background and weave it into the fabric of a love story, but Marie has done a wonderful job. Erin is written as a real woman whose past has left her with issues, but who is open, still, to the possibility of growing beyond the things that have held her back. And Slim, I’m in love with Slim, and pretty much all of the men in this book. His sensitivity, commitment to family, friends, and Erin, make him the realistically perfect book boyfriend.

Now that I’ve read and adored this book, I’ll be making it my business to go back and start at the beginning of the series, and in the meantime, I’m giving DESIRE AFTER DARK 5 romantic, steamy, feel-great stars. If you’re a fan of Marie, of books full of family, friends, love, passion, and humor, move this one right up to the top of your TBR; you will not be sorry.

Manacle by Bella Jewel has finally released. This book has slowly been building in the MC Sinners Next Generation series. It has finally come to play and it is a doozy.

Danny and Skye grew up together in their fathers MC. They are like family. They have been friends all their lives. They have been in love with one another all of their lives. It should of been easy for these two to fall into their lives together. Nothing is ever easy. Life changes and dreams change.

After the horrific situations happened to Ava and Mercy, Skye has a different view of her life. She no longer wants to be a part of the MC in her adult life. She doesn’t want to be an old lady. She doesn’t want to worry that her man or her children are going to get killed or seriously injured because of the way they live their lives. She wants a normal family life, a picket fence, and all the trappings that go along with it. She knows she has to walk away from Danny , no matter how much she loves him, in order to pursue her dreams in life.

Danny is destined to take over the position of President in the MC. He has been groomed for this all of his life. He loves the club and everything it stands for, even after Skye completely tears his heart to shreds. The only thing he can do is move on with someone else. He will always be there as a friend if Skye needs help but he will not let her destroy him again.

As the old saying ” Be careful what you wish for…” goes, plays a big part in Skye’s life. She has a lot of growing up to do. She has a lot to learn about love, friendship, and selflessness. She will go from a self centered girl to a confused young lady to a determined woman. She’s going to experience more heartbreak than she would of ever experienced if she would of listened to her heart rather than her head. Now she’s listening and it may be too late. Danny has moved on.

Manacle kept me glued to the pages. I spent most of the book annoyed with Skye. She was a self centered mess. She was lucky her family and friends stayed true to her. I was extremely happy when she finally grew up and gave more than she got.

I would highly recommend Manacle and The MC Sinners Next Generation series. Each book can be read as a stand alone or in series order.
