Excerpt

Luke Garrity pulled up in front of the non-descript storefront on Main Street and double-checked the address with the one the potential client had texted him earlier. He’d hoped to be there sooner but had gotten stuck dealing with a problem at one of his job sites. It was now getting to be about dinnertime. The shop owner had gotten lucky he’d had a client cancel on him; otherwise it would have taken him months to get here. That was the success he’d made of his business in the past decade. All work and no play had paid off.

Luke reached across the cab of his pickup truck to grab a notepad and measuring tape to bring inside with him. He shoved the small notepad in the front pocket of his shirt and deposited his aviator sunglasses on the dash.

He’d been in the middle of something when he’d gotten the text and had forgotten to ask whom he’d be meeting with. Though he hadn’t spoken to the person, it was clear from the text that he or she was in a bind and needed to get this job done fast. While he didn’t really have the time to devote to another project, he had a hard time not helping out someone in need. He’d spent the better part of his youth “in need” and knew full well what that felt like. He figured he’d take a look and see if there was some small way he could help.
He got out of the truck, slamming the heavy door behind him. The cool autumn wind bit into him, cutting through his flannel shirt. As he brought his hand up to knock on the glass window of the shop, Luke froze mid-motion when he saw her.

Scarlett. His Scarlett.

His Lettie.

Here.

In Saltwater Springs.

The girl that had shattered both his heart and his self-confidence when she’d left him behind to attend college. His stomach clenched, his heart spasmed, and his dick twitched. Three simultaneous reactions that perfectly demonstrated the complicated nature of his feelings toward this woman.

At that moment, she looked up from the construction equipment she was pushing to the side and noticed him standing there. She made eye contact and her eyes flashed with something—recognition to be sure, but there was something else that was there and gone so fast he didn’t have time to identify it.

The past decade had been kind to Scarlett. Her wavy, black hair still shone and hung over her shoulders but wasn’t able to hide her ample chest. Her eyes were the same shade of evergreen. He used to be content to gaze into those emerald eyes for hours as they lay in the back of his pickup truck during the lazy summer months. She wore a tight-fitting pair of jeans that hugged her curvy hips—hips he was sure he’d still have a hard time keeping his hands off of if he were within arm’s reach of her.

But she’d never really been within his reach, had she? That was exactly why she’d left him without any explanation all those years ago.

Cover Reveal: Cassie by Jennifer Foor – Mitchell-Healy Series – Book 7

My name is Cassie Healy. I’m twenty-two years old and I’ve
had to sneak around to be able to have a relationship with the man I love
because of my overbearing parents.

So what if Brantley Moxin has a criminal record? He’s who I
chose to be with.

Leaving town was our only option. One night we packed up a
few things and hit the road, bound for a new chance at a future together.

I thought it was going to be beautiful; something my parents
would come to appreciate after time. Instead I’ve been thrown into a life I
wouldn’t wish on anyone. Now I have nowhere to go – a family obviously ashamed
of what I’ve done.

This is my mess to clean up, and I’m afraid I’m in too deep for that to happen.

She has 30 days to turn her enemy into her boyfriend…

“<3 your enemy” just took a completely ridiculous turn.

Introverted computer engineer Charlie Forrester has coded an algorithm for love, a nearly flawless matchmaking program. But then she’s challenged to prove its accuracy – on herself. With her dream job on the line, Charlie has thirty days to forge a romantic relationship with her “perfect” match…her ex-friend and now-nemesis, Daniel Shawn. Since her dating experience is expressed in binary, she’ll need more than flirting lessons and a wardrobe overhaul to pull it off.

After falling victim to the same online matchmaking con he was investigating, reporter Daniel Shawn’s professional reputation went up in flames. Now he suspects someone has rebooted the scam, and he’s determined to expose the fraud and rebuild his career. Unfortunately, his efforts to get back in the game get sidetracked by Charlie and her adorable geekitude, even though she seems to know a little too much about digital dating for Daniel’s comfort.

And when fake romance crosses into real chemistry, Charlie’s formula for love might just be the perfect formula for disaster…

Kelley’s Review

Quirky, Cute, and Hillarious

I absolutely adored this read. The definitions of computer terminology that started each chapter were spot on and cracked me up. Lost in Geeklandia centers around a computer programmer named Charlie who has had her entire life mapped out since she was five years old. Just when she is on the verge of getting her dream job her very attractive childhood friend shows up and throws a monkey wrench into things. We are left wondering if Charlie’s career is toast.

Daniel is trying to rise from the wreckage of his career because of a story he wrote that blew up in his face. When he accidentally runs into Charlie after several years he finds himself home. He realizes how much he missed her and what a breath of fresh air she is. There is an undeniable chemistry between the two of them and according to Charlie’s mathematical calculations Daniel should be good for a fling.

The character development was superb and I adored the secondary characters almost as much as the hero and heroine in this read. Both Charlie and Daniel have skeletons in their closets that keep you turning the pages to see which skeleton is going to come out next..

Lost in Geeklandia is a fresh and fun lighthearted romance that will have you laughing out loud one minute and turning up the A.C. the next. I can’t wait to see what E.J. Russell has in store for us next. I really hope she writes Toshiko’s story next. I am going to have to brush up on my Star Trek Trivia for sure.

Excerpt

When Gideon flung open the apartment door for his usual grand entrance, Charlie was still curled up on the sofa with Lindsay hovering nearby, plying her with iced tea and Milano cookies.

“Lin, if you love me, scotch, and lots of it.” He stalked over to the sofa, sat on the arm opposite Charlie, and fell backward onto the cushions, flinging one arm to the side and the other one over his eyes.

Lindsay handed him two fingers of scotch in his favorite cow tumbler. “Did you have a bad meeting?”

“The worst. Charles,” Gideon tilted his chin and looked at Charlie upside down, “how long do I—” He sat up, the scotch sloshing over the rim of the glass and onto his hand. “What happened? Why do you look like Joss Whedon just quit show biz for the pro bowler’s tour?”

She heaved a sigh and struggled upright. “I have to get a date.”

“This is news?” He sucked the spilled scotch off his fingers. “I’ve been telling you that forever.”

“No. You don’t understand. I have to get a date. I’m required to get a date. I must get a date…” Charlie covered her face with Lindsay’s pillow, “or die.”

“Charles, as much as I appreciate hyperbole—”

“With Daniel Shawn,” she said, voice muffled by needlepoint hydrangeas.

She heard the clink of Gideon’s glass on the coffee table. “No. Fucking. Way.”

“Way. Stage Two commitment within thirty days.”

He pulled the pillow off her face, and she blinked in the sudden light. “You ran yourself through the program? For pity’s sake, Charles, why subject yourself to a process guaranteed to make you miserable?”

“I couldn’t help it. Bertha made me do it.”

“Bertha? Your Cluster Realms avatar?”

She nodded. “She may be strong, but her intelligence stat sucks.”

“Charles.” Gideon’s voice swooped in warning and Charlie toppled over sideways, resuming the fetal position.

“Shanna dissed my kung fu and I fell for it like a fool. Lord. I’m such a…a geektastrophe,” she wailed.

“Stop that. The role of resident drama queen in this apartment is permanently occupied by moi.” Gideon tapped his lower lip. “You realize what this means?”

She nodded. “I’m doomed.”

“Maybe he’s your match. Ever think of that?”

“Are you nuts?” She snatched the pillow back and tucked it under her chin. “Me and Daniel? It has to be a bug, or an artifact of faking my profile.”

“I don’t know, Charlie.” Lindsay perched on the edge of the coffee table. “I think you should give Daniel a chance.” She took Charlie’s hand. “If you believe you’ll fail before you even start, you’ll…what do you call it?”

“Invalidate the data?” she mumbled into the pillow. “Unduly influence the outcome?”

“Piss in her own pool?” Gideon said around a mouthful of Milano and both women groaned. “Lin has a point. You need to go into this in good faith. For pity’s sake, Charles, it’s not rocket science.”

“Rocket science was easier. I got an A in that.” She shivered, hugging the pillow tighter. “And when I lose? Even if Shanna the Annihilator doesn’t pull my name from consideration for the job, once she trumpets her win to the world, AGS will find out I’m the Fail Whale of digital matchmaking. They won’t let me empty their trash, let alone head their analytics department.”

“Then you’ll simply have to win.” He dusted cookie crumbs off his fingers. “All you need is the correct preparation and a stellar street team. I, king of the bar hookup, will turn you into a flirting machine. And Lindsay, who could make a dishrag and a tarpaulin look like haute couture, will handle your wardrobe.”

He rolled up his shirt sleeves and took command of Charlie’s laptop. “Thirty days, eh? A tight project timeline, but not undoable.” His fingers flew over the keyboard in a rapid rat-a-tat. “I’ve bookmarked a dozen websites. Study. Commit to memory. And then, my dearie-dear,” Gideon’s grin sent a spike of alarm down Charlie’s back, “we go live with Charlie Forrester 2.0.”

Prologue Reveal: Transparent by Erin Noelle

Her elusive past didn’t worry me,

Her heartbreaking scars never made me cringe,
And her haunting demons only made me a stronger man.
But the day Blake Martin was stolen from me,
I was scared to death.
Prepared to do anything necessary to get her back,
Little did I know it just might cost me my life.
My name is Madden Decker, and this is my story.

PROLOGUE
(“Something I Can Never Have” ~ Nine Inch Nails)

UNKNOWN

The day I turned fourteen, I tortured a man for the first time. Strung him up naked in one of my dad’s warehouses. Gagged him so I didn’t have to listen to him scream like the traitorous cunt he was as I cut off a different body part every ten minutes. Just as I’d watched it be done numerous times over the past couple of years.

First were his hands and feet, each removed with a single swing of the new sword my father had given me that morning at breakfast for my birthday. I remembered how proud he and my uncles were of my clean, precise form, insisting we all toast with a shot of Baikal vodka after each strike. The alcohol boosted my confidence and conviction, and by the fifth time I walked into the seedy back interrogation room, illuminated only by a flickering fluorescent light hanging in the middle of the cracked ceiling, I felt like The Man himself—invincible, immortal, and on top of the mafia world.

Another swift swipe of my gold-plated sword, and the man was no longer a man, anatomically speaking. And when I brought his pretty bride in to see him one last time, I demonstrated all the ways he would never enjoy her again, brutally fucking every hole her body had to offer, all less than a couple feet from him. His eyelids were stapled open, forcing him to watch as she abandoned their vows and trembled with release on top of my teenaged cock while I viciously pounded in and out of her.

Then, as my family members—both blood and sworn by oath—had their way with her in the next room, I brought my blade to the cockless bastard’s throat and whispered the words “Forgive me, Lord, for I have sinned” in my native tongue as I sliced him from ear to ear.

The entire warehouse erupted in cheers and applause as the lowest associates in my father’s brigade rushed in to clean up the bloody mess before our women and my school friends arrived for the actual birthday party.

I may have been born into this powerful family by chance, but I would die in the Brotherhood by choice.

That was over eighteen years ago, and though I’m now third in line to rule one of the most powerful organized crime rings in the world, a lot changes when a boy becomes a man. No longer am I interested in spending time filleting the scum of the earth or fucking tainted whore pussy. No. I don’t waste my time on that shit any more. I’m saving my wrath for the day the man responsible for the murder of my wife and my brother, as well as a handful of others in my family, stands before me to answer for what he’s done.

And with the Lord above and the Demon below as my witnesses, I swear once I get my hands on him, Vincent Ricci is going to wish with every fiber of his being that I was still that fourteen-year-old boy who didn’t know what it was like to have the most precious thing in the world taken from him. A boy who didn’t know the fierce agony and mind-controlling rage that comes along with losing the person you love most.

The boss of the powerful Ricci Family of Chicago may have been able to evade me and my men for the last two years, but finally, I have the one thing he desires most of all. The one thing that will make him vulnerable and careless and irresponsible.

And she is currently bound to my bed.

Staring down at her as she sleeps soundly, knocked out from whatever drugs they gave her, I can’t help but notice the resemblance of her to my Darya.

Porcelain skin. Thick, dark lashes resting peacefully on her high, prominent cheekbones. Rosy lips so full and lush they beg to be kissed. I’m almost scared to see her with her eyes open. Will she have those same blue sapphires that can…

I stand up abruptly from the bedside chair and step toward the window, peering out at the waves as they lap relentlessly along the rocky Pacific Coast, laughing at myself for the absurd thoughts. Now is not the time to think about lashes or lips or eye color. Now is not the time to adulate over my prisoner—this American Princess, as they call her.

She is only the means to an end.

Because now is the time for revenge.

Sometimes you reach a
point where you just can’t take any more — a breaking point, some call it.
The day I watched my husband murder the woman who was
pregnant with his child, my point didn’t just break, it exploded like a full
magazine’s worth of hollow points firing through the barrel of a
fully-automatic AK-47.
Literally.
I am no longer his American Princess, nor am I his slave.
Now, I’m a murderer in hiding. My name was Bryleigh Carter
Oliveira, and that was my story.
Translucent is one woman’s story of breaking free, starting
over, and learning to trust again through willful submission.

Tracey’s Review

Absence doesn’t always make the heart grow fonder. When you’ve made someone’s life a living hell, they’re usually not happy when you turn up again…

Once an angry kid bent on making everyone else as unhappy as he was, Simon is now a professional footballer (rugby player). Embarrassed by his treatment of his step-sister, and more than a little enamored of her, he’s returned home to make amends. But when Emilia learns who the benefactor of the community youth center is, she wants no part of him. It’s taken years for Emilia to put aside Simon’s callous treatment of her, and only now is she secure in who she is and what she’s doing with her life. She’s not about to forgive and forget so that Simon can feel better about himself. But this is not the Simon that she remembers and dislikes. Determined to change her mind, he is set on making her see that he’s changed, and sparks are soon flying between them.

I enjoy reads about forbidden or secret relationships, so HOOKED worked for me. I actually liked Simon, and could appreciate how important it was to show Emilia how much he had grown and how much he cared for her. Not only was he super-hot and a genuinely nice guy now, he was pretty darned philanthropic. Once her initial lingering dislike was dealt with, Emilia was able to see Simon for how he was now, and to form a new relationship with him.

This was a steady read, with plenty of heat and heart. It’s an easy 3.5 stars for me, and I would recommend it for fans of sports and/or ‘secret love’ books. I look forward to reading more by Iris Parker in the future.

Scottish Werebear: An Unexpected Affair

Scottish Werebears Series – Book 1

By Lorelei Moone

faaf2-goodreads

Synopsis

Romance novelist, Clarice Adler, has lost the inspiration to write ever since dumping her cheating boyfriend. How do you dream up a plot of two people falling in love, when you’ve stopped believing in love yourself? But her deadline is looming, and her career hangs in the balance, so she decides to lock herself away on the secluded Scottish Isle of Skye to finish her manuscript. Upon meeting Derek McMillan there, it seems she’s found her new muse and the words start to flow out of her as if by magic. Clarice falls for him, hard, despite knowing nothing about the man, except that he’s unavailable.

Derek McMillan has been managing his farm and renting out a few holiday cottages on his own for years now. He deals with the occasional tourist for some extra money, but mostly keeps to himself. When he first lays eyes on the curvy beauty, Clarice, he immediately regrets accepting her booking. Lightning strikes, and as much as he tries to deny it, his inner bear knows that she’s his mate. But he’s a shifter, and she’s a human, and the two can’t ever mix, can they?

In this steamy paranormal romance novella, follow along as an impossible love blossoms between two people, who couldn’t be more different. One might say fate intended for them to meet, if you believe in that sort of thing, but they’re both set on fighting their attraction with everything they’ve got. They’re going to need another push to admit to themselves as well as each other what’s going on…

Please note that this is the first title in the Scottish Werebears Series. Each book features a different couple from first meeting to HEA, as well as an overarching external plot that won’t be fully resolved until the end of the series.

Excerpt

★★ Chapter One ★★
Throughout her flight into Inverness, Scotland, Clarice found herself repeatedly going over the printout she’d taken of her destination: Moss Cottage on the Isle of Skye. It promised unspoiled vistas, a homely atmosphere and most importantly of all: a quiet getaway from the hustle and bustle of modern life.
That’s what she needed most: to get away. Away from the distractions of life in London, away from the constant buzz of her phone, notifying her of incoming emails or tweets. Away from all reminders of the life she used to share with Alan before she caught him cheating on her.
Upon her arrival at the cottage, she would send a message to Lily, her best friend, who had also been the one to suggest the Isle of Skye as a destination to begin with, and that was it. Clarice had promised herself to switch everything off. From nine to five daily, she would be unplugged, allowing her to focus on the task at hand.
After stealing a glance out the window – they were still descending through thick cloud cover – she flipped the page over, reading the backside again. Local attractions include wildlife walks, beach walks, hill trails. Walks, basically, all you could do on the Isle of Skye according to this text was go for a quiet walk.
It is going to have electricity, though, won’t it? Clarice read the other side again and studied the accompanying pictures. There was a table lamp in one of the shots, which suggested that electricity was indeed going to be supplied… As long as her laptop had power, everything was going to be all right.
As the small plane landed bumpily on the runway, she felt a surge of excitement as well as nerves build within her chest. Soon, a mere three-hour drive away, she was going to arrive at her destination.
“Please remain seated until the fasten seatbelt sign is switched off,” said the captain’s almost robotic voice over the intercom.
Clarice smiled to herself. No way that’s going to happen. Half these people would be up, carry-on luggage and phone in hand, before the plane came to a halt.
She leaned over to get a better look out the window. The views throughout most of the flight had been obstructed by a thick layer of clouds, far below the altitude of the plane. Now, the outside world looked as one would expect Scotland to look in early autumn: grey and damp.
How does it matter, it’s not like I’ll leave the house, much. Clarice took a deep breath, holding it in an attempt to calm her nerves. She had never done anything like this. Leave it all behind for a few weeks of solitude.
But this time, it was necessary. Early attempts to figure out if there was any flexibility in the deadline for her latest book had only resulted in her editor breathing down her neck harder. Apparently anything short of a deadly illness wasn’t cause enough to postpone a release. A messy breakup and resulting existential crisis didn’t count. That was why Clarice had been forced to resort to drastic measures to finish the manuscript on time.
Finally, the fasten seatbelt signs switched off with the customary ding, and soon after, the doors of the plane opened. Clarice smiled a final goodbye to the quiet old man seated next to her. The flight was relatively short, as far as flights go, but she was still surprised that he hadn’t said a word throughout. He nodded, then joined the throng of impatient passengers heading for the door.
It was a small airport, meaning you didn’t get one of those fancy walkways leading from the plane straight to the door. Instead, all the passengers were let off via a mobile staircase, and then they walked along demarcated pathways painted on the concrete taxiway, towards the modest looking terminal building to collect their bags.
The bags arrived in a similarly low-tech manner: on trolleys in plain view of the waiting passengers. Clarice found her suitcase and started walking, aimlessly at first, until she spied the car rental sign.
Alan used to take care of all of these things during their holidays together, but now it was all up to her. How hard can it be?
As it turned out, picking up a pre-booked rental car wasn’t very difficult at all. However, Clarice was still battling residual nerves by the time she made it into the driver’s seat and started leafing through the various printouts of the route to the Isle of Skye. It looked easy enough, there weren’t very many roads to choose from. The maps on Clarice’s phone concurred.
A deep breath later, she turned the key. So far so good, now it was time for the home stretch.
***
As pretty as the drive towards the Isle of Skye was, it did nothing to prepare her for the beauty ahead. Stark black cliffs stood out against the dramatic clouds overhead. There wasn’t much vegetation, just grasses and mosses with the occasional small grouping of trees that had managed to battle the elements for survival.
Though the road snaked through the landscape up ahead, Clarice still felt like an explorer, discovering this mysterious land for the first time. At every bend, she instinctively slowed, both to cater for oncoming vehicles – which were few and far between – as well as to admire the views.
She passed through a few small towns on the way, but for the most part, the island seemed unspoiled and almost barren. The road narrowed more and more as she reluctantly drove on. Every map she’d printed out, even the satellite navigation on her phone confirmed she was on the right track, yet the road ahead looked too small to lead anywhere.
Finally, she made it to a small settlement that according to Google was a mere twenty minutes away from her destination. Village would be too big a word for the cluster of houses she found. Luckily one of the buildings housed a small daily needs shop. Clarice parked right outside, eager to stock up on some essentials so she wouldn’t have to leave the cottage at least for the next couple of days.
“Hello?” she called out through the open door.
No answer.
She stuck her head inside, looking around the dimly lit interior of the store. It looked like somebody’s living room, with a few racks of groceries, as well as firewood and some camping supplies stacked up inside.
“Excuse me?” she asked again.
Finally, an old man appeared through the door at the far end of the room.
“Ah, a customer!” He shot her a smile that seemed to wrinkle up every inch of his face all at once. “How can I help?”
“I just wanted to buy a few things,” Clarice explained, smiling nervously while eyeing the shelf of cookies nearer the wall.
“Aye, of course. Please take a look around. If you’re after anything specific, we may need to order it in.”
Clarice nodded and gathered up some packets of digestives. It was a bad habit, snacking while writing, especially when writing was your main job and you spend a lot of time doing it. With the deadline hanging over her head, she didn’t know how else to cope.
She rounded off her selection with some bread, eggs, and other daily essentials, then made her way towards the counter where the old man was waiting. He didn’t even have a till. Instead he listed up everything on a notepad and totaled it in his head.
“Where are you staying, if I may ask?” He handed her the torn off sheet of paper, with the total, £20.78 written in shaky pencil.
Clarice paused for a moment, wondering if it was wise to answer. What the hell, this place is so small, he would probably find out anyway. You’re not in London anymore!
“Moss Cottage. That’s just up the road I suppose?”
“Ah yes. The old McMillan farm. Lovely place, very quiet. Just-” He leaned forward, raising his hand gravely. “Take care of the bear.”
“Thanks. Umm, wait, what bear?” Clarice asked.
“Up in the hills around the farm. Keep your eyes open if you go wandering out by yourself. Especially in the evenings.”
Clarice scrutinized the old man’s face, looking for any sign that he was just pulling her leg, but his expression remained completely serious.
“I wasn’t aware that there were bears in Scotland?”
The old man let out a chuckle. “Well, according to the authorities, there aren’t any, but we’ve all seen him. A big fella too, could tear you in half, he could.” By the end of his sentence, again the old man’s expression turned deadly serious.
“But enough of that, you seem like a sensible lass, you’ll be careful. Enjoy your vacation.” He smiled again, his weathered skin folding into a million little creases.
“Uhh, thanks.”
“Bye now!”
Back at the car, Clarice tried to shake off her unease at the preceding conversation. A bear. Here? That’s ridiculous, right? As far as she knew, bears had been extinct in Britain for pretty much forever. Unless it was some kind of zoo escapee.
No, perhaps the old man had been enjoying his Scotch a bit too much. That must be it.

** ARC Provided by Author in Exchange for an Honest Review **

Judging a Book by it’s Cover:
Bare torso with tribal tattoo, pants dipping dangerously low and a sort of wonky pectoral muscle. The bear in the background is super cute. Brooding, moody background colors help make them both stand out. The synopsis sounds rather fun and entertaining.
Looking Deeper:
Third person POV. Poor Derek, he’s a bit clueless in what to do with himself in the beginning, but is such a softy sweetheart behind the gruff front he puts up. Clarice is a bit fanciful, but enjoyable. Both characters were absolutely wonderful. There really was not a lot in the way of secondary characters, allowing the main focus to remain on the lead couple. The chemistry, while progressing at a stradily aggressive rate, was something both denied until they just could not anymore, a refreshing change to other similar stories. Dialogue felt natural and appropriate. The plot was full and complete, for being a novella of this short length and it was written extremely well – so smooth and fluid. There really were not a lot of conflicts other than internal struggles, but they managed in efficient and mature ways. No predictability. The conclusion allows Derek and Clarice their HEA, but there’s a nice big opening for A DANGEROUS BUSINESS to pick it right up at the end. Although not a *huge* fan of paranormal, I honestly would love to read the next book in this saga to see if my suspicions are correct. Thank you, Ms. Moone, for the opportunity to read your work.

5StarMichel’s Review

It’s been a wonderful journey reading the Bad Rep series by A. Meredith Walters.  Readers have embraced the band members of Generation Rejects.  From the beginnings as a local hometown bar/ college band to professional recording artists.  Along the way they have met some dynamic women, fallen in love, and found there is more to life than their music careers.

Desperate Chances is the final book in the Bad Rep series.  Mitch Abrams and Gracie Cook are finally going to get their happily ever after.  It has been a hard road and a lot of heartache.  Gracie had problems with alcoholism and anorexia.  She had to crash and burn before she could give her love.  She had to learn to lover herself.  The one person that always had her back was Mitch.  His friendship was the only solid truth in her life. Shortly after she became clean and sober she slept with Mitch.  The morning after she panicked because of all of her issues.  She wasn’t ready to take their relationship to the next level.  She hadn’t healed enough to love Mitch completely.  She broke his heart into a million pieces.

Mitch was devastated by Gracie’s rejection.  He finally moved on and became involved with someone else.  Someone that would always be there for him.  In his head it felt right but in his heart it felt wrong.

One year later Gracie has finally come to terms with herself and her past mistakes.  Her biggest regret was losing Mitch.  She misses their deep abiding friendship.  She misses Mitch.  She has realized that she has always been deeply in love with Mitch.  Now it’s too late.  He has someone else.

The heart wants what the heart wants.  Both Gracie and Mitch are going to realize they were meant for each other.  They will have to learn forgiveness and compassion towards one another.  They will have to completely surrender their hearts and souls to one another. They will have to take desperate chances.

Desperate Chances is my favorite book in the series.  Not only do Gracie and Mitch get their happily ever after, the other members of the band will get theirs too.  This series comes full circle.  They are all going to move on to the next phases in their lives.  It’s been a great journey and their final show is a standing ovation.
