Zelda Wilder has made a mistake. She knows better than to let anything get in the way of her con, but he did. McCallum Lockwood Tate slipped right through her defenses, and now Zelda is not only running from the people that want her dead, she’s running from her feelings for Cal.

Every single interaction between Zelda and Cal is sizzling. Cal knows now what Zee is all about, and, although he’s angry that she played him, stole his heart, and ran, he can’t stay away. Zelda is torn, knowing that she and Cal are completely wrong for each other, but unable to forget him. I love the interactions between the two of them, and watching them fall, in typical Tia Louise fashion, when they know that they shouldn’t.

The action in A PLAYER FOR A PRINCESS flows right from the ending of THE PRINCE AND THE PLAYER, so reading them in order is a great idea. 4.5 hot, suspenseful, uber-sexy stars for this one. I have a passion for Mafia themed romance books. When I saw the blurb for Amore by Bella Jewel, I was intrigued. I wasn’t sure what to expect but I was excited to read it. These type of books always seem to be my favorites.

Most Mafia themed romances are based around forbidden romances.   Whether it be fueding families, opposites sides of the law, or pre arranged marriages, the theme is constant, it’s forbidden in a highly organized and dangerous world. Amore is quite different, it’s not a forbidden romance, in fact it is completely acceptable if not necessary. The problem is the boundaries on which the relationship is based. There are very strict rules. Breaking those rules would result in severing the relationship completely, no matter what the circumstances where.

This is the story of the other woman. A woman who is not a cherished wife. A woman who is considered an outlet from the daily stress in a dark and brutal world. Her only place in this dark world is to be a companion and sexual outlet without ties to the world. Her only commitment is to be there when she is needed, in return she is taken care of financially and rewarded with sex.

Julietta is a fiercely strong independent Italian woman. She has a successful career in nursing, a loving family, and dedicated friends. She has no interest in relationships, commitment, or a future family. She is happy with the life she is living.   The only use she had for men was sexual. She didn’t need any man until she met Rafael Lencioni. A one night stand turns into an offer she can’t refuse. An offer that includes great sex and companionship for as long she wants. Someone is gunning for Rafael Lencioni. Somone is betraying him within his organization. His wife is questioning his relationship with his mistress. The worst of it is that Julietta has broken the rules and fallen in love with him. His world is crumbling and people are dying. He has to deny his own desires and let Julietta go. After all… a promise is a promise and the rules were broken.

Bella Jewel has written one the most intense mafia romances I have ever read.  I could not put this book down. It ended on a huge cliffhanger that can change every aspect of the story so far. I cannot wait for the next book because this book, Amore is riveting.

Staring into the flames, I brooded about my uncertain future. I didn’t trust my ambivalence toward teaching because I was a master at self-sabotage. He opened the passenger door for her but caught her before she could slide in. “You’re cold.”

Actually, she was freezing. “I forgot my jacket this morning—No, don’t give me yours,” she said when he made to take his off.

So instead he spread it open and wrapped as much of it around her as possible. Chest to chest, thighs to things…and everything in between mashed up against each other all cozy like.

Except it didn’t feel cozy.

It felt…sexy as hell.

It would’ve taken more control than she held to keep her hands to herself. He wrapped herself around him, letting her fingers trail up the sculpted muscles of his back.

“I didn’t say that!” She felt her face flush. She was doing her best to desperately hold on to her resentment over their past, but even she could admit she was quickly losing the battle here, to curiosity.

And lust.

“If you’re going to eavesdrop,” she said with as much dignity as she could, which wasn’t much, “at least get your facts straight.”

“I’m sorry, Noelle. I’m really sorry.” I don’t know what I’m apologizing for. The fact that I don’t believe her weak lie or because I kissed her. No. I’m not sorry for either.

“It’s okay. Really. Thanks for caring. And thank you for my birthday gift.” She pauses and brushes her pinkie finger against mine. “You made my birthday really special, and I’ll never forget it.”

Without thinking, I loop my pinkie finger around hers, linking them together. Linking us together. We walk to her window like this and I break our connection reluctantly, bringing my hand up to her bruised cheek. “Please be careful,” I beg, and I’m not sure what I’m even begging her to be careful of. I’m just so worried about her.

“I will,” she whispers. “Catch a couple fireflies on the way home.”

“I’d catch a million for you.” Her eyes light up, a smile on her lips. I want to kiss her again. So bad. But all I do is stare into her eyes and back away. I push the window open as quietly as I can and slide out onto the grass.

“Happy Birthday, Noelle.”

She smiles as we both slide the window gently along the track, closing it.

She leaves her hand pressed against the window and I immediately do the same, covering hers, only the glass pane separating us.

Her smile is weak and full of pain.

A pain that I would take away from her in an instant if I could.

Author Trudy Stiles has outshined all of her previous novels with her newly released story titled Epic Love! Epic Love is the third novel of the Epic Fail series, a series of new adult novels written about each member of the wildly popular rock band Epic Fail. This time, Stiles writes about lead singer Heath Strickland and his first love, Noelle Durand, in a novel that CAN be read as a standalone. Epic Fail is an incredibly sweet, second-chance romance that begins with two children who bond over a game of Wiffle Ball.

When the Durand family moves into the estate next door, Heath has no idea what Noelle will come to mean to him. To everyone on the outside, Noelle seems to have a perfect life, but it doesn’t take long for Heath to figure out something bad is going on with his new best friend. Over time, their close friendship evolves into something more special, and Heath realizes he would give up everything he owns to protect Noelle – to bring her happiness and keep her safe. One day, Noelle just vanishes, and although she is presumed dead, Heath never gives up hope that she will someday resurface.

Epic Love is written in a fashion that is typical for Trudy Stiles. The author narrates her story from the first person perspective of both Heath and Noelle, while also alternating between past and present chapters. Stiles cleverly arranged the novel content, commingling storyline from past and present with perfect precision. The first half of Epic Love has a greater focus on the past, as a friends-to-lovers relationship develops between our main characters during their teenage years. Then, after a 12-year separation, I really enjoyed how our characters become reacquainted in the latter half of the novel!

I experienced a wide range of emotions while reading Epic Love. Anger. Confusion. Heartbreak. Sadness. Hope. Relief. Happiness. Some chapters had me smiling with joy, others left me feeling distress for the characters. I think the reason I felt so much is that I truly cared about these characters. I love reading young adult novels, and although Epic Love is definitely not a YA novel, a portion of the story is about Heath and Noelle during their late childhood and teenage years. Young adults just feel so deeply, and with her writing, Stiles expressed their young emotions perfectly.

I’ve followed Stiles’ writing career from the beginning, and she doesn’t hesitate to write about controversial topics. Although I don’t want to give away spoilers, I do think it’s important to warn readers that there are some very dark, abusive scenes in Epic Love. That being said, I think these scenes were very well written. I felt anxiety and horror while reading them. In fact, as an objective reader, I believe that I felt everything Stiles wanted her readers to feel. Throughout the story, I thought the writing flowed beautifully, and I enjoyed the uniqueness of Stiles’ plot.

Overall, Epic Love is just a beautiful story of love and healing. If you have never had a chance to read a novel written by Trudy Stiles, I highly recommend you consider picking up a copy of Epic Love! I’m including this 5-star novel as one of my 2016 favorites!

Excerpt

Outside, Sandman screams and chants as we hurry him down the pre-planned route. Trigger is on the phone, giving coordinates to the guys in the sky for evacuation as he and Killshot go back inside the building we were occupying to grab our equipment.

Again, Sandman puts up a fight, and I am forced to the ground with him.

A whistling buzz pierces my ears, followed by an earth shaking explosion.

The building has been hit!

The ringing in my ears is horrific. The pain I feel as brick and metal hit me is allowed for five, four, three, two, one, and now I dismiss it.

Sandman easily pushes away from the grip I have on him because, lucky for him, he was covered by my body. When I grab him, I quickly realize my shoulder is dislocated, but fuck if I let him go. Not when we spent years looking for him.

I hear Trigger yelling but, with the ringing in my ears, I have no idea what the hell he’s saying.

I look back at Sandman, who has a sick smile on his face. I push him to the ground and look back for my team.

Trigger is a mess. Blood is everywhere as he pushes parts of the building off of him. But I don’t see Killshot. I am caught in a moment of needing to help my men, yet not wanting to release my captive.

I look back at Sandman who knows the conundrum I am faced: His live capture or helping my men. What he doesn’t know is who I am.

Another whistle and another explosion rocks us.

I pull out my piece and look at the sick fuck.
