“Wait a second.” Stede caught Embry’s arm. “I can’t let you walk home by yourself at this hour.”
“I walk all over the place by myself.”
“If you get raped and killed, I’ll never forgive myself.”
“Okay, now I’m scared. Thanks for that. Do you have a savior complex?”
“Only around you.”
He was good. Too damn good. Nobody, no guy, said stuff like that and meant it. “Are you the type of savior who rescues the damsel from the trouble you create?”
His grin sent a jolt of excitement through her.
“I can see why you might think that, but no, I’m a responsible adult.” He stood. “Now, how ‘bout I give you a ride?”
“How adult are you?”
He tilted his head to the side and raised his eyebrows. “You’re a flirty little thing.”
“I was asking your age, not how X-rated you can get. You’re a guy. I already know the answer to that one.”

 Excerpt

Rhiannon

The darkness in the car did little to soothe the heat that clutched my body.

Sterling’s nearness made me want to run my hands through his thick black hair and pull him toward me and kiss his lips. To feel them move across my neck—

“What are you working on now that the Malibu series is complete?”

“Hmm.” I pulled my gaze from Sterling’s lips and looked out into the night.

“I’ve been drawn to Venice,” I said.

“Ah, that explains the look of surprise when I told you where I lived. You should come down. You could even stay with me, for your work, if you wanted.”

If Sterling were feeling the same kind of heat I was right now, staying with him at his house would quickly turn from being about my work to more about our desires. We both understood the truth of that.

“I could show you around. Venice has changed since we were kids. Do you remember when we’d spend the day down there?”

“I do.” The warm days on the sand with Sterling beside me with our hands clasped and his lips on mine. The press of his body. He was bigger now—the difference between a boy and a man. Fuller. Larger. His eyes flicked from the road to me.

“What are you remembering?” His voice was lower.

“Our days and our nights.”

The muscle in his jaw flinched. The memories played out for him too. He took a tight curve then slowed and turned into the dirt drive that led to my mother’s ranch.

“Would you like to see my work?” I asked as the headlights crested the final hill. “Go past the house. Mama is letting me use the guest house as my studio.”

Alone. Sterling and I would be alone for the first time since I’d returned from Europe. My breath shortened and heat pooled between my legs. My breasts ached in anticipation of his touch. There was heat in his eyes when he looked at me; surely he saw the heat in mine. He parked and we entered the little adobe

house. I fluttered ahead of him toward the kitchen, no longer so certain of what I wanted or needed from Sterling. He walked with an effortless grace. “Wine?” I asked from behind the kitchen counter.

“Please,” he said.

His gaze landed on the far wall that reached up to the skylight. I’d added more pictures of Venice. My canvas rested near the pictures, but it was still empty of color. I hadn’t committed, not yet. Sterling examined the canvas and then walked closer to the wall.

“Your photography is good too,” he said.

I walked to his side, glasses of wine in my hands. His eyes turned from the wall to me, and heat simmered in his eyes. My tongue chased out over my lip and words clutched in my throat. Sterling. This was Sterling Legend, now a man, no longer a boy and I was now a woman, no longer a girl.

I held a glass of wine out to him and he plucked both glasses from my fingertips and set them on the table beside my canvas.

“I’m not here for the wine, Rhiannon. I’m here for you.”

He slid his hand to the back of my neck and pulled me forward. Our gazes locked and his blue eyes, the shade of the California sky, heated with desire. Then his lips were on mine. With his kiss came a rush of desire and passion. The air burst from my lungs with the press of his lips. A slow moan rolled from me. He

was familiar and yet different. His tongue brushed against the seam of my lips and my mouth opened to his. Our kiss grew greedier. His hand shifted from the back of my neck and his fingers trailed across my throat and stopped at my breast. He

cupped me and a moan escaped my throat. My hands clasped his shirt and I tugged upward. My fingertips brushed across his skin. Where once Sterling’s skin had been bare, there was now a trail of hair from his belly up toward his chest.

He pulled his mouth from mine. His hand clasped both sides of my face.

“Oh my God Rhiannon, I still, you still, I can’t—”

“I know.”

The heat in my chest and between my legs gave way to a low ache. My desire for Sterling was hotter than ever now, due to our long absence from each other. His eyes searched mine as if for confirmation that it was truly me that he kissed. That I was here, with him. Surprise and uncertainty flashed over his face.

He did not surrender to his fear. He took a step forward and pressed his lips to mine. There was no hesitancy. Any doubts were replaced with a determined desire that we shared.

Sterling’s hand pressed the thin straps of my dress over my shoulders and his fingertips roamed over my bare chest. I pulled his shirt off his body. I wanted to see him. Needed to see him. His chest was solid and his skin a light gold color. The planes of his chest gave way to the hard quilted muscles of his stomach. A tiny trail of black hair dusted past his belly button.

I locked my gaze with him and reached forward to his jeans and quickly unbuttoned and unzipped them. A memory of unzipping Sterling’s jeans rushed through my head. I pushed his pants past his hips and he took them all the way off.

He stood before me, his maleness hard and alert. A bolt of heat rolled through me.

His was a perfect body. The beauty of the male form aroused and waiting for entry. I pressed the tip of my finger to the head of his cock.

He sucked air over his teeth. “Rhiannon.”

My name on his lips was part warning and part need. The sound aroused me and the wet I felt between my legs grew. His arms hung at his side but his gaze was locked with mine. I grasped his cock at the base and stroked upward with a

long pull. A stroke that sent trembles through him. His arm reached out and he clasped the back of my neck. With his other hand he clutched my breast and he leaned forward and his lips took my nipple into his mouth. He rolled the tight bud

over his tongue. My head fell back and I surrendered to the waves of pleasure. His other hand slid down my belly and into my panties. The hot nub he’d yet to touch pulsed and throbbed with desire for him. His fingers entered my fold and pressed

against my clit and I struggled to breathe.

“Sterling.” Desire overcame me and I lost the rhythm of my stroke on his cock. I held him in my hands while his lips and fingers pleasured me. He lifted me.

His stride was long as he walked toward the bed on the far side of the room. He settled me onto the white duvet and his hands clasped my hips and he rolled the panties off my body. He gazed at me.

“Each night before I fall asleep I see this. I see you like this. Lying naked before me, waiting for me. For seven years, Rhiannon, I’ve waited for this.” My heart burst open with his words. There was an ache and a need and all kinds of questions in his words that, in this moment, he didn’t ask. For this, I was thankful. There would be time for me to explain and to tell him all the details

of why I had to leave, but right now, I wanted him to slake our desire. I wanted Sterling to pin me to the bed and make my body come over and over again. I wanted to be his in a way I’d never experienced with any man. His hands started at my breast and he trailed them down over my belly and to my wet folds. He pressed his fingertips to my center and all the while his

eyes remained fixed to mine. His fingers circled and pressed my clit, and my hips bucked upward toward his hand.

His mouth grasped my lips and his tongue caressed mine and then he pulled his lips from me. A moan came from my mouth and mourned the loss of his mouth on mine. His lips, hot yet slow like liquid heat, trailed down my neck and across

my breast while his fingers caressed my clitoris. His fingers pushing and pulling with the rhythm of my hips following his touch. His lips kissed over my belly to the edge of my sex. His tongue trailed up my thigh and then down. He knelt before me, parted my legs, and placed my each of my knees over his shoulders. He looked up over my mound and met my eyes. A

deep want, a need, claimed his face. I couldn’t breathe. I held myself so still and waited for his touch. The touch of his finger, the touch of his tongue, and then a stroke of heat from his mouth that nearly sent me over the edge. He roamed up the inner left side of my cleft and around the most sensitive of spots without fulfillment, without a suck or a kiss. Sterling was between my legs and about to send me over the edge. His finger slid into me and my muscles bore down. I was so wet, so molten, so ready for his hard thick maleness.

“Please, Sterling,” I begged, my hips moving and rolling. I could not remain still, I could not contain my want.

“Rhiannon, be patient, we’ve waited a long time for this moment.”

And then with the words barely from his lips his mouth was on me. Hot and fierce and demanding. His tongue caressed my clit while his mouth sucked.  One finger, now two, pulsed in and out of my body. My hand found his head and I clutched him. My hips bucked wildly into his mouth. The light shattered around me, and his eyes met mine one final time. I crashed over the edge and cascaded into shattered bits of light from the pleasure of his mouth on me.

I clutched him and I went over the edge again and again and again. My body jerked and spasmed with his stroke. I shuddered one final time and Sterling pulled his mouth from me. He appeared satisfied. Pleased that he’d brought me so much pleasure. I was heavy-lidded and wet and sated and yet I wanted him. I wanted him inside me. My eyes roamed over the hugeness of his cock. His lips pressed to mine and I tasted the earthy goodness of me on his lips. My hands grasped him and his breath became uneven. He pulled his lips from mine.

“Rhiannon, we don’t have to, we can wait—”

“We’ve waited seven years,” I said. “We’ve waited long enough.”

Stage Dive Series -Book 3

By Kylie Scott

Synopsis

Stay up all night with the sexy rockers in Stage Dive, the epic New Adult series from New York Times bestselling author Kylie Scott, author of Lick and Play.

As the lead singer of Stage Dive, Jimmy is used to getting whatever he wants, whenever he wants it, whether it’s booze, drugs, or women. However, when a PR disaster serves as a wake-up call about his life and lands him in rehab, he finds himself with Lena, a new assistant to keep him out of trouble.

Lena’s not willing to take any crap from the sexy rocker and is determined to keep their relationship completely professional, despite their sizzling chemistry. But when Jimmy pushes her too far and Lena leaves, he realizes that he may just have lost the best thing that ever happened to him.

Excerpt:

“Lena, you seen my old black Led Zep shirt?”

“Nope.”

“You sure?” His brows became one dark cranky line. The scratches on his face were healing well, thank goodness. Though it didn’t reduce my desire to throttle his mother on a daily basis.

“Yes. I haven’t seen it.”

Can’t find it anywhere…”

“And this is a surprise, how?” I slipped my hands into my back jean’s pockets. “Jimmy, you own more clothing than Cher, Brittney, and Elvis, put together. Things are bound to go missing.”

“Sure you haven’t seen it?”

“For goodness sake, what do you think, Jimmy? That I stole it to sleep in or something?” I laughed bitterly. Sure as hell, the truth deserved a good mocking. I’d sunk so despicably low.

I hadn’t even meant to steal the stupid thing, but the shirt had been mixed up with my laundry a few days ago. It’d been the first top I laid my hand on after stepping out of the shower, ready to go to bed. Without thought, I’d put it on and it’d been so soft, the scent of him lingering beneath the laundry detergent. Every night since, I’d found myself in it come bedtime. My shame knew no limits. And no, I still hadn’t quit. The words still hadn’t come even close to leaving my mouth.

He frowned. “No.”

“That I have some deep secret longing to feel close to you resulting in my stealing your shirt like
some creepy perv?”

“Course I don’t fucking think that,” he replied crankily, reaching up to grip the top of the doorframe. All of his bulging muscles stretched the arms of his white T-shirt in the nicest way. It was all I could do not to start drooling, my heart beat taking up residence somewhere down between my thighs. And who could blame it? Not me. Maybe if I got laid, this would go away and things would return to normal. It’d seemed safer to avoid rubbing up against any men just in case I got carried away and started dating again. This new situation, however, changed everything.

“Well, of course not! That would be crazy.” And wasn’t that the god’s honest truth? Cray-zeee. Lock me up and throw away the key because it wasn’t like I didn’t know better.

“Just can’t figure out where the hell it could be.”

Angels couldn’t have smiled as innocently. They might have tried, but they would have failed, the dirty-mouthed, winged, little liars. “Jimmy, I don’t know where it is. But I’ll look around for it later, okay?”

“Yeah,” he said, and then added as an afterthought, “and stop looking at me weird.”

“I’m not!”

Michel’s Review

OMG…. Kylie Scott has another bestseller!   Lead rocked the house down!

Lead is book three in the Stage Dive series and features lead singer Jimmy Farris. He is the egotisical front man for Stage Dive. He adds a new meaning to the phrases “self absorbed”, “self entitled”, “rude”, and “dickhead”. He is a recovering addict in need of a sobriety companion 24/7. Due to his insufferable personality he has run off every single companion the band has hired. They are at wits end until they accidentally meet Lena Morrissey in their manager’s office.

Mal gave me a finger wave. “Lena Morrissey, huh?”

     “Yes.”

     “I like you. You’re funny.”

     “Thanks,” I replied drily.

“So you do admin-type shit here?”

     “I did. Yes.”

He gave me an easy smile. “You don’t seem very impressed by me, Lena. Am I not impressive to you?”

“Sure you are. I guess I’m just busy getting fired right now to fully appreciated the magnitude of the moment.” Hands on hip, I looked him in the eye. He was cute and I bet his smile worked on lots and lots of women. But it wouldn’t work on me. “Rest assured, later I’m going to freak out.”

He leaned against the doorframe. “I’ve got your word on that?”

    “Absolutely.”

    “I’m trusting you here.”

“And I appreciate that, Mr. Ericson. I won’t let you down.”

“I really think you could be the one, Lena,” the drummer said, pulling me from my thoughts.

    I blinked. “That so?”

“Oh yeah. Big time. But you’re not for me.”

    “No?”

“Sadly not.” He shook his head.

    “Damn.”

“Yeah, I know. You’re really missing out.” He sighed, slipping his hair behind his ears. Then he looked over his shoulder. “Gentlemen, that problem we were talking about earlier. I believe I may have found a solution.”

David Farris looked from Mal to me and back again; his forehead creasing. “You’re serious?”

“He isn’t easy to live with. Think she can handle it?”

“Yeah, I do,” said Mal, bouncing on the balls of his feet all excited like. He put up his dukes, as if for fighting. “Show me what you got, Lena. Knock me out. Come on champ. You can do it. Put me against the ropes?”

     “Mal’s right, she’s different.”

Finally, at long last, Jimmy sighed and looked up at me.

And the man might be pretty, but he sure as hell wasn’t nice. I’d met enough not-nice men to know. Trust me to find him attractive.

So I frowned straight back at him.

His glare went up a notch.

     I matched it.

“Why, you two are getting along like a house on fire already! It’s like you’ve known each other for years. I think she’ll make a wonderful live in assistant,” said Mal. “Tell him, Lena.”

“A live in assistant?” I parroted, clueless.

“Since when did I need an assistant?” Jimmy looked me over from top to toe, lips tight with obvious disapproval.

“Since you can’t seem to keep a sobriety companion.” His brother returned calmly, a little coldly even.

And thus begins the story of Jimmy Farris, singer extraordinaire being put in his place and brought into the world of the mere human race.

An epic reading adventure you don’t want to miss.

Jimmy Farris has left a foul impression on the readers throughout this series. It is very hard to like him. It is hard to understand his motivations and actions toward his band brothers. As we all know, don’t judge a book by the cover. Don’t judge, accept.

Lena Morrissey with her quick wit, smart mouth, perceptive mind, and dedicated manner is exactly what Jimmy needs. She accepts his grouchy nature and likes him anyway. When he crosses the line, she puts him in his place. When he needs someone to support him, she has his back no matter what. She sees beyond the outer wrappings Jimmy presents to the world. She sees a man that has been deeply hurt. She sees a man that has lost his sense of self worth. She sees a man that doesn’t know how to reach out to others. She sees a man that doesn’t think he deserves to be loved. As his sobriety companion it is her job to keep him on the straight and narrow. To help him build an iron clad control against the drugs. To direct his self destructive nature in another direction. But is it her job to love him? Will she be able to survive an unrequited love?

“The man was such a show pony, one that I just so happened to be hormonally susceptible to. Blame it all on my girl bits, sure why not?”

“He always seemed so polished, so perfect, you could almost ignore the chaos and pain living inside of him.”

“His smile, oh god his smile, I wanted to wipe it off his face with a pickaxe. I’d be gentle, you could trust me.”

“I’d been in love before, sure. The difference here was, I loved him, all of him, and there’d be no easy getting over it this time. Every part of me wanted him, I yearned for him on the cellular level. There could be no escaping emotions of this magnitude. His good and bad, dark and light, his nice parts and his nasty. Everything he was, I loved, and it left me utterly helpless.”

Jimmy is counting on Lena. She is the only one he can tolerate intruding in his life. He doesn’t want her love. He just needs her to be there and have his back. He will help her get over her crush on him so that she will not quit. He will have her back when she needs it the most. Because after all he is a selfish man, he needs her and that is all there is to it.

“Don’t hate me Lena,” he whispered. “You want to be mad at me when I do dumb things, that’s fine. But don’t ever hate me. I couldn’t take that, not from you.”

Lead is one of this books that is a turbulent ride, a rollercoaster of emotional highs and lows. It is fun, feisty, witty, sensual, panty dropping sexy, and emotional. The dialogue and banter between Jimmy and Lena is phenomenal.

Kylie Scott is a brilliant writer. She has the reader captivated in the very first line of the book. We are glued to the pages until the very end. She managed to take a very flawed unlikable character and make us fall head over heels in love with him. She gives us strong women that we can admire and respect. She gives the the reader a fun and entertaining book that titillates every emotion.

Lead is a six star book. The Stage Dive series is by far one of the best written series published and has deserved all six star reviews.

Michel’s Review

I have been dying for Craving Absolution to release. Nicole Jacquelyn’s Aces MC series has made my 2014 Favorite Reads list. I cannot praise this series enough.

With the market being saturated with Biker themed series, ranging from bad boy bikers, bikers undercover, bikers down under, and lifer bikers, I have to say The Aces MC is at the tops. It is a portrayal of a club compiled of members from various walks in life that have banned together as a family. They live by their own codes, laws, and rules. They love just as fiercely as their commitments to the club. They will give their lives, serve time, turn their backs on those who betray the club, and leave their old lives behind to live by the code. In return they will be embraced by a dedicated family that will have their backs at all times.

At times they will have to hurt the ones they love the most for the for the club. There will be times that they will have to sacrifice their own personal desires for the club. It is not an easy life.

Craving Absolution is the third book in this series. We met Casper, the new prospect for the club in the first book of this series. He is young, quiet, and a bit mysterious. He can move throughout various situations like a ghost. Thus, the nickname Casper.

In the second book we get to see who Casper was before joining The Aces MC club. He was a young man with a brilliant future. He was away at a prestigious school in the east. His academic success had gained him scholarships that would eventually land him a full scholarship to Yale. When his parents are brutally murdered by a gang with a vendetta, his life is forever changed.

At the age of fifteen he has a first hand experience with the brutality of the harsh and violent world. Through his older sister Callie he is introduced to the Aces MC club and her best friend Farrah. He will witness another world he never knew existed. He will seize the opportunity to join the Aces to get retribution for the deaths of his parents. He will find a world that is a better fit for him than the perfect world at Yale. He will find the one woman that can complete him. The life he chose, the woman he claimed will be the most challenging and satisfying endeavor he will ever take. There will be good, bad, violence, love, friendship, danger, diabolical enemies, and a support system that will have his back at all times. Cody will embrace this life and he will do everything in his power to capture Farrah’s heart.

We met Farrah in the second book of this series. She is Callie’s best friend. They met in high school and become sisters by choice. Farrah has had a very rough life. Her mother is a drug addict and former club whore. She is the illegitimate child of the president of the Aces. He has abandoned her and left her to survive in the horrific word in which her mother lives. Not only has she suffered abuse from her mother, she has witnessed the violent world that comes with the members of the Aces. Her boyfriend is brutally gunned down right on her doorstep. She has watched Callie suffer from the enemies of the Aces. She has a very bitter attitude towards the Aces and everything they stand for. The one person that has always showed her pure kindness and respect has now joined with the Aces. Can she give her heart to Cody knowing that their life will be ruled by the very club that has done nothing but break her?

Craving Absolution has lived up to the high standards that the first two books in this series has set. I was addicted from page one and could not put it down. There were so many surprises, underlying plots, emotional scenes, and pure love scenes. This book played on every emotion. Nicole Jacquelyn is a talented writer that has created a world that is unforgettable.

I cannot wait for more from this author and this series!

I highly recommend this series. It is on my 2014 Favorite Reads list.

The Aces Series

Q & A with Nicole Jacquelyn

What inspired the The Aces MC series?

I don’t know that there was any one thing that inspired the series. It started out as just one story—and even that started out as a really abstract idea. What if a woman on the run from her abusive husband ran straight to safety… with the bad guys. It was intriguing, and it wouldn’t let me go. So I sat down one day and started writing in between wiping my kids’ asses and doing massive amounts of school work. I honest to God never thought that it would get as big as it did. I just wanted to do it, just get my story down and have someone, anyone read it. After I’d finished Craving Constellations, I knew that I wasn’t done. Grease and Casper needed their stories… so I kept writing, and you guys kept reading. Pretty freaking cool.

Will there be more books in The Aces MC series?

Well… yes. But maybe not for a while. I’ve been saying that this is a trilogy, because that’s what it feels like. BUT, Poet’s story is already in my head… and so is another couple’s that I’m not going to detail here, but once you’ve read the book, you’ll know who I’m talking about.

Who is your favorite character in the series?

This is hard to answer, it’s like picking a favorite child! But truthfully…

It’s Gram. Always Gram. She’s very very similar to my own Gram that I lost a few years ago, and she was my favorite real person.

Do you have any other new books or series in the works?

Yep! I’ve got a new series that’s in the early stages. I’m writing in a little notebook about all these different characters and how they’re connected. They’re foster kids, from two different families. Good families. Solid ones. And years after they all go their separate ways, military, college, work, they start trickling back into their hometown.

Tell us about your writing techniques, habits, and inspirations.

Hmmm… Well, I write at night mostly. It’s the only time that the house is quiet for longer than a few minutes- and I need the silence. I listen to music while I write, but only after I’m about 50% done with the story, because I feel like I need the first half to learn the characters’ voices before I can cloud my head with any external stuff. I drink RedBull Red like water (That stuff is amazing). I sleep about 3-4 hours a night when I’m working, and if the story isn’t flowing, I take a step back until it is, which makes it hard to work on a timeline!

I’m inspired by all sorts of stuff—reading, hanging with my kids, driving, showering, ironing my hair. It happens at the weirdest moments, and I don’t know how many times I’ve been so lost in my head that I’ve missed the turn for my kids’ school.

Craving Redemption

Asa and Callie had nothing in common. He was an Ace, raised in the club and loyal to it above all else. She was a high school student with braces on her teeth and a narrow view of the world.
They should have never crossed paths.
But when Callie decides to defy her parents, and Asa goes on an errand for the club, their lives collide. He saves her, and she mesmerizes him.
They part believing they’ll never see each other again.
Neither could have predicted the chain of events they’d put in motion.
Now the two have to navigate the dark waters of a relationship built on tragedy and need without drowning in guilt for things outside their control.
How do you love someone when the worst decision of your life was the reason you met them?

Author Bio:

Nicole Jacqueyn1Nicole Jacquelyn is the mom of two little girls and a full time college student. She hasn’t watched television in well over a year, she still does things that drive her mother crazy, and she loves to read. At eight years old, when asked what she wanted to be when she grew up, she told people she wanted to be a mom. When she was twelve her answer changed- to author. By the time she was eighteen, when people asked her what she wanted to do with her life, she told them she really wanted to be a writer- but the odds of that happening were so slim that she’d get her business degree “just to be safe”. Her dreams stayed constant. First she became a mom, then she went to college, and during her senior year- with one daughter in first grade and the other in preschool, she sat down and wrote a story.

Eastman is a motherless and fatherless daughter, but a day doesn’t go by that she doesn’t think of them. She misses her mother and is grateful to her for teaching her about the importance of true love and lasting friendships.

stacey griceI am a mother, wife, Registered Nurse, avid reader, and most recently have pursued taking my own writing to the next level. Born and raised in Jacksonville, Florida, the beach is my happy place.

Being an astute people watcher gives me constant inspiration for my stories. But my characters, like many authors, are conceived from actual people in my life. A hodgepodge of personality traits, real world instances, and conversations that I have directly taken part in are the foundation for my fictional world.

Likes: attending and/or hosting ANY kind of party; dancing (not very well but like no one is watching); jamming out to any and all music that is not in the country genre (especially 80’s); girls’ nights out (preferably with wine); a good cup of strong coffee with enough creamer to make it blonde; painting (also not very well); getting pedicures; comedy movies, shows, and books; a wicked sense of humor; brutal honesty but not cruelty; taking impromptu nature walks with her daughter and husband; people watching (for research purposes, of course); eating good food (especially cheese, bacon, chocolate, and anything with any of those three items in, on top of, or around it); wasting obnoxious amounts of time on Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, Twitter, and Goodreads; and of course I luuuurrrrvvvveeee to read!

Dislikes: people who are closed-minded; hotdogs, peaches, and cantaloupe; doing the dishes; cleaning the litter box; the smell of fresh cut grass and anything to do with yard work; wearing a bra and/or spanx (especially the combination of wearing them both at the same time); slow internet speed; slow drivers; slow people; slow anything; not being in control; the smell of cigarette smoke; when people spoil books in their reviews; not having lip gloss on at all times; when the toilet paper is not put onto the holder correctly (with the roll coming over the top); and of course that there aren’t more hours in the day to write.

After reading several independently published novels by Jamie McGuire, Colleen Hoover and others, I decided I needed to give that dream a chance. So, here I am.

My first novel, Crossing Paths, will be released on August 29, 2013.

I’m an addict to all things awesome, books, coffee, anything series, coffee, music and lets not forget coffee!
People call me Batman-okay so I started that rumour and once spread means it’s got to be true right.
Proud Australian who wishes there wasn’t such a huge pond between me and my friends and readers- USA especially.
Why I write? Because I love reading and have been extremely lucky in life to experience true love. At 16 I met my now husband and since had our wonderful children known as ‘The Lollies.’
I’m not afraid to say my writing gets better with every book so keep reading and growing with me. I am afraid of sharks, snakes, clowns, spiders or anything that wants to fly at my face or crawl near me…with the exception of maybe a ladybug. They’re pretty innocent until proven otherwise.
I write Young (YA) love novels, New Adult (NA) and contemporary romance because lets face it, I’m a genre whore and if I had the imagination I’d write paranormal and more,
Yes I have a day job and write because I like stuff and stuff costs money. Dang it!
So I keep writing and run this site and An Indie Affair for readers because one day I’ll earn enough to write full time, be able to travel, buy lots of stuff for me and my girls because they love stuff too & provide for hubs who deserves the freaking world for putting up with such a nutty dreamer like me.

Romance is my thing, in any shape or form I can get it! I write contemporary Adult romance and will probably always stick to that genre. I hate angst, even putting my characters through it is a hard concept for me to grasp, I just want them to be happy!! Couple more things… I am about as claustrophobic as they come, I am terrified of mice, Football is like a foreign language to me, my favorite parts of the day are when my 4 yr old son wakes me up with a kiss every morning without fail and reading them their stories just before prayer time at bedtime! I have been with my husband for a million years and wouldn’t trade him for the world! I have BIG plans for 2014 and cant wait to get it started!!

Synopsis

One broken heart, one drink too many, one steamy night in the sand…

No one warns you about the dangers of drinking with a broken heart. At least no one warned me. I never imagined I’d fall for a musician, especially not one like Chase, but then again I never expected to have my heart broken into a million pieces by the frat guy I thought was the love of my life.

Sometimes it’s the rash decisions, like hooking up in the sand, that lead you to the best places—the kinds of places where it’s possible to let yourself fall in love again.

 Excerpt

He took a strand of my hair and studied it. “Is this your natural color?”

“Yes.”

He dropped the strand. “I’ve never dated a girl with blonde hair.”

“Well, you’re not dating me.”

He gently brushed his fingers down my bare arm. “No, but I want to kiss you.”

“Then kiss me.” I was used to pushy guys. The kind that knew what they wanted and took it.

“Okay.” He smiled before leaning in.

The kiss was hesitant at first, the kind of kiss that gets your whole body excited because you know there’s more to come. I waited—hoping he’d take it further. His hand slid just under the hem of my shirt, brushing against my skin. The touch was light, but it was still enough to get a response out of me. I moaned.

That must have been what he was waiting for. He deepened the kiss, pushing into my mouth with such force I was taken by surprise. I kissed him back, enjoying the sweet taste of his mouth, and the way his hand slowly inched its way up my stomach. Blazer moved from zero to sixty. I didn’t mind it. I moved onto his lap, welcoming the arm he put around me to pull me closer. I wrapped my arms around his neck.

His hand moved higher, cupping my breast over my bra. I was drunk and hot, and so turned on I was going to lose it.

That’s when the door to the roof opened. The loud laughter of a group of girls pulled me half out of my lustful stupor.

“Want to go for a walk?” His question was asking something else entirely. I knew that when I answered with an enthusiastic yes.

Blazer held my hand as we made our way through the crowds. I looked briefly for Gabriella, but I didn’t see her. The normal Cara would have called her to tell her I was leaving with a random guy—but was Blazer random? We had chatted for hours already.

Before I could worry about it long, we were walking along the dark and nearly vacant beach. It was January on the South Carolina coast, and the crowds were months away.

“You never told me your name.” He said it as a statement as he led me further away from the party.

“Cara.”

“Hi, Cara. I’m Chase.”

I smiled. “Isn’t it a little late for introductions?” I stopped and turned toward the ocean.

“It’s never too late.” He drew something on my arm with his finger. The sensation felt good. I closed my eyes.

“You look so gorgeous. The moonlight, that look on your face.”

I opened my eyes and his face was inches from mine. “If you’ve never dated a blonde, does that mean you’ve never had sex with one?”

“Why? Are you looking to change that?” His eyes were lidded.

“I’d like to.” I slipped a finger into the waistband of his jeans.

“Should we go back to my hotel room, or do you have one?” He looked down. “I’m going to be honest here. I haven’t done this before.”

“Please don’t tell me you’re a virgin.” That would be just my luck.

He laughed. “No. Not saying that at all. I just don’t generally hook up with girls I’ve just met.”

“At least you know my name.”

“I do know your name, don’t I, Cara?”

Something happened to me when he said my name. I needed him. I reached up again, wrapping my arms around him. I crushed my lips into his.

We came up for air only after ending up horizontal on the sand. He laughed. “Or we can just pick things up right here.”

 Tracey’s Review

When Cara and Chase met, there may have been some alcohol involved. Okay, a lot of alcohol. And maybe Cara was still trying to get over a cheating ex that had broken her heart. Because, why else would she get frisky with a guy that she didn’t know, hooking up and then running, without even telling him her last name or phone number? After all, she figured, she’d never see Chase again. If only life was that simple…

Alyssa Rose Ivy has done an entertaining job of taking this scenario and writing a story that shows how a chance encounter can turn into something much more. As the relationship between Cara and Chase grows and evolves, so do their characters. Cara finds strengths and interests that she didn’t know she had, and both she and Chance find that the right relationship allows each person to grow and shine, rather than conform to someone else’s idea of who they should be. I always enjoy Alyssa’s writing, both the stories and the characters. Besides Cara and Chase, all of the supporting cast had great personalities, and I found myself laughing out loud at the interactions between Cara and her friends. I look forward so the next book in the series (Alyssa, if you’re reading this, I’m hoping that Jade or Kyle will be next!).

RMwinterauthorpicYep. That’s an “s.” There are two of us!

We’re East coast girls separated by Long Island Sound who met in Physician Assistant School and have been besties ever since. We can safely say that thirteen miles of water does not get in the way because we talk or text, no exaggeration, at least 150 times a day. No, really, we do—about everything and nothing. Shockingly, we never (we mean never) run out of things to say. Umm, ever. We definitely laugh A LOT and we’re a tad sarcastic. And if we’re being totally honest, one or two people might have, on occasion, used our names and ‘dramatic’ in the same sentence. But it’s hard to trust the sources since they married us.

It only took twelve years, two husbands, five kids, two dogs, and a two-week vacation in Cape Cod later to decide the romance world needed a splash of medicine. Write what you know.

So you can easily find us at 4 o’clock on Bank Street beach with a glass of cold Prosecco brainstorming. And guaranteed if we bump into you, literally, it’s only because our iPhones are glued to our hands (totally out of our control) either writing or editing our next novel (and yes, it is possible to do from your iPhone, we mastered it … damn those straight quotations).

When we are not working on our book or reading the latest angsty romance on our kindles, you basically name it and we have it going on. Soccer, lacrosse, golf, swimming, dance, gymnastics, football, chess, baseball, basketball, skiing, ice skating, school, homework, and more school.Oh yeah, did we forget to mention our careers in medicine?

Needless to say, we realized fast that something had to go, so we opted for sleep. It’s completely overrated (yet so AMAZING) and delirium makes everything funnier. Good thing we share a brain and can pretty much complete each other’s sentences (definitely weird, we know).

So that’s our story, who we are … just add AUTHORS to the list!

Excerpt:

Gabe silently thanked God his houseguest escaped into the shower as soon as she possibly could. The tour of the house had just about done him in. Isabelle’s oohs and aahs had been genuine, as had her love of his favorite room in the place. Unlike Naomi, who had taken one look at his apartment and immediately begun calculating how she could move in permanently, Isabelle, who he had invited, not only wanted to pay her way but she planned to leave as soon as possible.

Not if he had his way.

Back at the police station, outside in the rain, it’d been all he could do not to reach out and swipe his hands over her responsive nipples, feel her tremble beneath his touch, and get rid of the ridiculous distance between them. He might not know her well, but he’d always felt they’d connected. The physical attraction was obvious. She was all woman, supple curves, her breasts full and lush, and she possessed one hell of an ass. His cock twitched with the desire he’d felt from the moment he’d first seen her on Daltry’s arm.

But things ran deeper. They’d shared banter and flirting during opportune moments when he’d caught her alone. He’d had glimpses of the intelligent, witty woman she was when not with that pompous ass. But not until today had he really seen beyond the exterior beauty to the depth beneath. Those sexy blonde curls that bounced wildly around her face were a proud testament to the fiercely independent woman she desperately wanted to be.

The woman he intended to help her find.

It wouldn’t be easy. Isabelle needed gentling. Understanding. Patience. Not his best traits, but when it came to her, he’d already exercised plenty. He’d bided his time, knowing Daltry would fuck up sooner or later. The balls that made him a crack financial investor also imbued an arrogance that would be his downfall. And it had been.

It was Gabe’s good fortune that Daltry’s screw-up had landed Isabelle at his brother’s police station. Seeing her there had given him insight he wouldn’t have had otherwise. In Isabelle, he saw an intriguing combination of weary life experience and innocent ingenue. It was the innocence the most primitive part of him wanted to conquer, to possess. Since he’d begun running his father’s empire at the age of twenty-one, the same age he’d been drafted into surrogate parenthood to his sister, he had always gotten what he wanted.

And Gabe wanted Isabelle.

Tracey’s Review

It’s not enough that Isabelle Masters has been cheated on by her rich boyfriend. When he can’t persuade her to come back to the lie that they’ve been living, he has her arrested for grand theft auto. Left with nothing and no one, this night isn’t shaping up to be the best Isabelle has ever had. Luckily for her, Gabriel Dare just happens to be related to the arresting officer. Like her very own knight in shining armor, he’s there to save the day, offering her a place to stay until she can figure things out. The problem: Isabelle and Gabe have been attracted to each other for a LONG time, and it’s like an electrical storm of desire whenever they’re around each other.

The ‘Invitation To Eden’ series is a collection of novels by different authors that revolve around the mysterious Eden resort. This is the second book in the series that I’ve had the opportunity to read, and I really enjoyed it. Carly Phillips always writes a good book, with characters that have back stories that are often angsty and less than perfect. ‘Dare To Surrender’ is no exception; both Gabe and Isabelle have had much to overcome from their pasts, and this has left a mark and made them both reticent about giving themselves to another person. Gabe is a serious alpha male, and doesn’t like anything to stand between him and what (or whom, in Iz’s case) he wants. Isabelle wants to be independent, to prove that she can stand on her own merits, and not have to rely on a sugar daddy to take care of her. Deep down, though, they want the same thing: someone to love and to take care of. And, did I mention that Gabe and Iz are super-hot for each other? The sexy times are off-the-charts here; the passion is sizzling, and certain to melt some panties, so have extras on hand. Check out ‘Dare To Surrender’ (it’s a 4.5 star read for me) and the rest of the ‘Invitation To Eden’ books, too. They’re like the book format of a sexy mix tape, and should not be missed.

MERCILESS: House of Gravor
by Lara Adrian

Blurb:

Seeking vengeance for the murder of his brother, Incubus Master Devlin Gravori demands justice from the high court of the Nephilim. But fury and retribution are no match for the consuming desire he feels for Nahiri, the beautiful Nephilim warrior he claims as his hostage.
Excerpt
Nahiri
awoke in the middle of a large bed in a strange room.
She
shot upright the instant consciousness dawned, her hands reaching automatically
for her weapons.
They
were gone.
The
leather sheaths that crossed her torso were empty.
No. That meant her nightmare hadn’t
been just a dream. It was reality.
The Incubus in the temple…Devlin
Gravori.
He really had taken her.
Nahiri’s
eyelids snapped open in panic. Sunlight poured in from an open window across
the room, blasting her vision.
Momentarily
blinded, she squinted through her lashes, struggling to take quick stock of her
new surroundings.
Creamy
stucco walls. Dark hardwood floors and masculine-looking furnishings. Thick
timber beams high above her head.
And
beneath her, a massive bed. The mattress was as cushiony as a cloud, the cotton
sheets and silken coverlet calling to mind all manner of sins.
All
around her was the scent of intriguingly exotic spices and something even more
enticing.
Him.
She
sensed his presence even before she swung her head in his direction and found
him seated in an upholstered chair beside the bed. No, not seated in it,
exactly. Dominating it. The same way he seemed to dominate every space he
occupied.
His
big body lounged negligently where he sat, his powerful thighs spread, one arm
draped over the side of the chair, the other propping his head up, fist curled
loosely under the square line of his jaw.
He’d
shed his suit jacket at some point, and now wore just his gray tailored pants
and white business shirt. The collar was opened even farther than she recalled,
just one more button loosened, but exposing enough of his tawny skin to make
her mouth water with a sudden, unholy urge to taste him.
She
wanted to dismiss the impulse as one he planted in her mind, but she could tell
from the casual way he regarded her that any curiosity she felt in that moment
was hers alone.
Nahiri
scrambled off the bed. She backed into the farthest corner of the room, eyeing
him warily. “Where am I? Where have you taken me?”
“You’re
at Gravori House.” He cast a nonchalant look around the room. “More
specifically, you’re in my bedroom.”
Even
though she could have guessed as much, her heart still climbed into her throat.
Since she’d gone to the temple to train at eighteen years old, she hadn’t left
the sanctuary grounds even once. Let alone spent so much as a minute in a man’s
bedroom.
She
might be a virgin, but she had never been a wilting little girl. She was a
grown woman. A skilled warrior. She refused to let him intimidate her.
“It
was a bad idea to abduct me from the temple,” she informed him. “The Three will
see you punished for this, Incubus, regardless of what you mean to do to me.
And with or without my weapons, I am still a Blade. I will fight you every step
of the way.”
“The
same way you did in the High Chamber?”
Her
cheeks flamed with heat at the reminder. With humiliation. Her weakness had
shamed her in front of the other Blades, in front of the three priestesses
who’d entrusted her with their lives. With their faith that she was the best,
the strongest, of her peers.
And
this demon had disproved all of that in a moment.
He
would do it again if he wanted to. He could do anything he wanted to her.
Nahiri could see it in the hard glint of his golden eyes.
No,
for all her skill—for all her dedication to the teachings and training of the
temple—Devlin Gravori could destroy her at his whim.
“I’m
not interested in fighting you,” he murmured, as if he could read the troubled
direction of her thoughts.
She
swallowed, watching the way he stared at her from across the room. He didn’t
move, and yet her body trembled as though his hands were already on her, as hot
and roaming as his gaze. All the wicked, deviant things she’d ever heard about
Incubi appetites poured over her in a rush of dread and terrible anticipation.
“In
case you’re worried about it, I’m not interested in raping you either,” he
drawled, the corner of his mouth curling around the sensual growl of his deep,
rumbling voice. “Forcing a woman isn’t the Incubus way. Never been my way, at
any rate.”
Nahiri
hiked up her chin. “No, you’ll just bend my will until I submit. Or make me
your Thrall so you can siphon my life’s energy for your own. Maybe you’ll
manipulate my mind until I beg you to drain me completely. I suppose that would
be more your way.”
He
grunted, dark amusement in his tone. “I have plenty of women more than happy to
slake my needs—all of my needs.”
As
reassurances went, his did little to relieve her. He steepled his hands beneath
his chin, his citrine gaze locked on her. Nahiri could hardly breathe. His dark
energy was gathered about him, pulsating and vivid, but not the way she’d felt
it in the temple.
He
was holding his demonic allure in check now, despite the heat she felt licking
along her limbs and putting a flame to her blood. He intrigued her as much as
he unsettled her.
Heaven
save her, but he tempted her.
Even
as he terrified her, infuriated her…he stirred a dangerous longing in her.
And he knew.
The
way he studied her, he knew she was struggling against an attraction she wanted
desperately to deny.
One
raven brow quirked nearly imperceptibly. “If I wanted to take you as my lover,
Nahiri, or feed from you as my Thrall, I wouldn’t need force or Incubus magic
to do it.”
The
combination of her name on his lips and the terrible truth he spoke made her
heart stumble in her chest. It beat shallowly, accelerating in time with her
breathing.
And
she tried not to notice how his gaze tracked every inch of her body, settling
on her breasts as they rose and fell with each rapid squeeze of her lungs.
He got out of the chair and stood in place for
a long moment. When he finally moved, his steps were measured, unrushed. So
confident, as if doubt was something he never had to trifle with when it came
to women.
Of
course, he’d told her as much, so his arrogance shouldn’t surprise her now.
Nahiri
stood, frozen, as he approached, his thick-muscled thighs carrying him in a
slow prowl across the room. He paused an arm’s length away from her.
“Why
did you bring me here?” she asked, grateful that the tremors of her body hadn’t
found their way into her voice. She could not forget for an instant that she
was dealing with a demon. “What do you want from me?”
His
sensual mouth twisted in contemplation. “I haven’t decided yet. But let me be
clear about one thing, little Blade. You may be pledged to the Three and their
precious temple, but in this House, I am Master. So long as I have you under
this roof, you will obey me. As of now, your well-being, your life—everything—belongs to me.”
She bristled, outrage shooting through her
like fire. She welcomed the anger. It helped eclipse the desire that was still
simmering inside her, unwanted and never to be admitted—especially to this
overbearing heathen of a man.
Devlin
Gravori was mad if he expected her to think of him as anything but her captor.
Her
enemy.
And
he might as well realize that now.
Nahiri
peeled her lips back from her teeth in a furious smile. She squared off against
him, ready to do battle even without the benefit of her weapons. “I would
rather die before I give anything to you. Willingly or by force. I would see
you dead before that day.”
He
scowled as she hissed the words into his face. When he raised his hand, she
thought for certain he would strike her.
Instead,
his broad, warm palm came around the back of her neck. He held her in a firm
grip, and brought his face terrifyingly close to hers.
When
he spoke his voice was raw, as rough as gravel in his throat. “Be careful with
your threats, Nahiri. Those are dangerous words. Particularly when my kin are
already grieving the loss of one brother to your kind today.”
She
stared up into his fierce golden eyes, transfixed by the power she saw there.
By the pain and fury that hardened his handsome features and tightened the lush
line of his mouth.
“On
the other side of this bedroom door, I have a dozen Incubi brothers and cousins
who might be tempted to take your threats against me to heart. They might be
tempted toward other things too. But not so long as you’re under my watch. No
one takes what belongs to me.”
As
he spoke, his gaze drifted to her mouth. It lingered there, and suddenly Nahiri
could hardly swallow for the lack of moisture in her throat. Her lips tingled
under his gaze, aching for contact. Her temples pounded with her heartbeat, a
rising, steady thrum that seemed to echo in the small space between her body
and his.
Everything
female in her was fixed on this man—this dark, deadly demon—and the unholy need
he aroused in her.
“You
will obey me,” he muttered, the command like velvet on her senses when it
should grate like sharp stones. “As of right now, Nahiri the Blade, you belong
to me.”

SOULLESS: House of Romerac
By  Donna Grant

Blurb:

Incubus Master Canaan Romerac is focused solely on revenge against those who betrayed him and put him in the Oubliette for five hundred years. That is until he sets eyes on Rayna. Can the beautiful Nephilim heal Canaan’s wounded soul before it’s too late?

Excerpt

It took less than a day for Canaan to
realize he had to get accustomed to the world much more than he had
comprehended. It had taken a lot for him to walk away from the beautiful Rayna,
but walk away he had.

                He
might be a sex demon, but no was no. The next block over he found just the
woman he needed to feed off of and restore some of his strength.

                As
usual, people were eager to share useless information, but he did manage to
glean facts he did need. Like the name of the town – Traders Hollow – and that
New York City was five hours away by car.

                Canaan
had expected the human race to make advancements, but he hadn’t expected such
bold leaps as the computer, cell phones, and weaponry. Then again, the humans
were rather gifted in killing themselves.

                As
the day faded to night, Canaan knew he
couldn’t leave Traders Hollow just yet, even though he was more than ready to begin his trail of revenge.

                If
the human world had changed so much, what of the Incubi and Nephilim?
He needed
to know every detail before he set out for the city. There would be no
mistakes, no oversights. No missteps.

                Few
would see him coming.

                Fewer
still would know what ended their lives.

                But
in the end, he would right the wrong done to him.

About the Author

Donna Grant is the New York Times and USA Today bestselling author of more than forty novels and novellas spanning multiple genres of romance.

She was born and raised in Texas but loves to travel. Her adventures have taken her throughout the United States as well as to Jamaica, Mexico, and Scotland. Growing up on the Texas/Louisiana border, Donna’s Cajun side of the family taught her the “spicy” side of life while her Texas roots gave her two-steppin’ and bareback riding.

Her childhood dream was to become a professional ballet dancer and study under the amazing Mikhail Baryshnikov. Though she never got to meet Baryshnikov, she did make it to New York City and performed in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. Later, Donna’s love of the romance genre and the constant stories running through her head prompted her to sit down and write her first book. Once that book was completed, there was no turning back.

Donna sold her first book in November 2005 while displaced from Hurricane Rita, a storm that destroyed portions of the Texas Gulf Coast. Since then, Donna has sold novels and novellas to both electronic and print publishers. Her books include several complete series such as Druids Glen, The Shields, Royal Chronicles, Sisters of Magic, Dark Sword, Dark Warriors, and her new series, Dark Kings.

Despite the deadlines and her voracious reading, Donna still manages to keep up with her two young children, four cats, three fish, and one long haired Chihuahua. She’s blessed with a proud, supportive husband who loves to read and travel as much as she does.

SHAMELESS: House of Vipera

by Laura Wright

Blurb:

Sexy Incubus Master Scarus Vipera has grown weak, and the only thing that will strengthen him again is Rosamund, the power-rich female of the Harem. But the mysterious Nephilim is determined to leave the Harem untouched, her heart intact.

Excerpt

Scarus Vipera, Master of the House of Vipera, was growing weaker by the day.

He needed sex.

Power-rich sex.

But not just any female would do. If he was to gain back his strength, he needed one of the Immortal Nephilim of the Harem.

He exited his private plane and moved down the steps toward the waiting limousine. The heat of the desert clime invaded his custom gray suit and attacked the skin, muscles and bones beneath. He despised the weakness spreading unchecked inside of him. Despised that it forced him to revisit the place that had, only five years ago, caused him both stunning pleasure and the deepest pain.

Walking out those ancient doors framed in the finest gold, he’d sworn never to return. He would find his pleasure, his power, his repast, elsewhere. He would forget. About the Nephilim who’d birthed his son—his only child—then run away. He’d forget how he’d bonded with the boy.

Watched as his mother nursed him. Oh, he’d been a strong little male. Scarus should’ve seen how the Nephilim was doting on him, how she’d held him all through the night as though she hated to be parted from him. It wasn’t something he’d ever seen before. Normally, if the child was male the Nephilim would be only too happy to be rid of it. But not Daya. She’d taken the boy and run, both of them meeting with an accident just two days later.

The pain that had swarmed Scarus like a thousand angry wasps was both surprising and debilitating. He hadn’t been able to forget, and had lost any good nature that he’d been blessed with. Barking orders at his servants, not attending any celebrations or holidays with his family, refusing to meet with the Masters of the other Houses. He could not care for what was happening outside his palazzo in Ravello. Whether it was how the Sovereign was closing in on the end of his reign and had not been seen in far too long. Or how Devil Gravori believed that the Three were destroying all human/Incubus pregnancies to ensure that the Succubi remained extinct. He only cared about staying alive and strong for his House, and for all of those within it who relied on him.

As he approached the sleek black car, whose doors carried the Vipera House sigil of a coiled serpent, the desert wind whipped around him. To regain his strength he needed the power of the Harem.

About the Author

Unlike many of my peers in the writing world, I wasn’t a writer or a reader until I left high school. During my youth I was into theater, song and dance, commercials and boys. I loved romance surely, but I had never read a romance novel until my late teens. With that said, I remember the day I did like it was a moment ago – my aunt gave me the Jude Deveraux novel, Knight in Shining Armor and I couldn’t put it down until the very last word. Then I went straight to the library and got another – then another until I’d read everything she’d ever written. After that, it was McNaught, Howard, Schone, Kleypas, and the Silhouette line, Desire. I instantly loved those emotional, sexy reads, so much so that I began to carve out ideas for my own stories, themes that were unique to me and moved me. In 1997 I enrolled in UCLA extension writing classes, met my mentor and critique partners and since have never stopped writing. I was committed then and I still am now; the need to tell my own romantic stories a full on obsession. My first manuscript was rejected, and though the second one was as well the editor who’d rejected it wanted to see something else from me. I had something (note to authors; always keep working, even after you’ve sent in a proposal) and sent it right away. The day I got the call telling me Desire wanted to buy Cinderella and the Playboy was the best day of my life. That is until I married my husband, and had my two beautiful children. But I must say, writing is much like motherhood – tough, grueling, surprising, delicious and for me, a dream come true.

If you’re interested…

I was born and raised in Minnesota. It’s where my love of all things green, wet and grown in the ground comes from. As you read above, before writing I was an actor, singer and dancer, specifically a BALLROOM dancer – an instructor and competitor as well. That work took me to many places like New York, Ohio and Wisconsin. I live in Los Angeles now, but I’m always thinking about greener pastures – literally.

Excerpt

“I’ll give you full credit for your arrogance,” she mocked,
spreading her wings as the mirage of snakes continued to crawl over her
body.  She needed to keep him distracted
until he’d stepped into her trap.  “Your
intelligence, however, is obviously deficient.”
His low chuckle wrapped around her like a silken caress,
making her nipples bead with a sharp-edged longing.
Damn.  It’d been so
long since she’d been touched in anything but anger.
Too long.
“Trust me, I’m not lacking in anything.”
Muriel felt the soft stroke of fingers down the slope of her
shoulder.
Incubi magic, of course.
It had to be.  She
would know if the demon were that close to her.
Still, that didn’t halt the searing lick of anticipation
that spread through her body.
“Then why are you hiding from me?” she rasped.
“I’ve told you,” the aggravating male murmured.  “I want answers.”
“Answers to what?”
“Why have you created a gateway into the fortress?”
Her mouth went dry as she continued to back toward the
distant wall.
That was a question she had no intention of answering.
Instead she feigned confusion.  “What fortress?”
Without warning a pulse of heat sizzled through the air as
the Incubus abruptly stepped from the shadows.
“You want to play games, sweetheart?”
Muriel hissed, reeling beneath the impact of his beauty.
He was quite simply…magnificent.
Not the ethereal loveliness of male angels.  Or the rough aggression of humans.
He was pure male temptation.
A walking, talking invitation to sex.
Against her will, Muriel found her gaze lingering on the
glossy darkness of his hair and the lean, finely sculpted features, before
lowering to the slender, muscled body that made her fingers twitch with the
urge to explore every hard inch.
Her heart raced as her gaze returned to his face, instantly
ensnared by his golden eyes.
Oh heavens, those eyes…
They shimmered with the promise of pleasure beyond her
wildest dreams.

About the Author

I’m not exactly sure when I fell in love with books.  Probably on my mother’s knee listening to her read Dr. Seuss to me.  I do remember that I was barely old enough to cross the street by myself when I discovered the delights of the local library.

Could anything be more wonderful than spending summer days surrounded by stacks of Nancy Drew mysteries?  Over the years I fell in love with Victoria Holt, Jane Austen, Agatha Christie, and J.R.R. Tolkien just to name a few.  I read poetry, essays, biographies, and plays.  In fact, I read anything I could get my hands on.

Years later (no, I’m not admitting how many) I’m still an avid reader, and my tastes are still as varied as they were in my youth, which I suppose helps to explain why I enjoy writing regency historicals under the name of Deborah Raleigh, as well as my contemporary paranormals as Alexandra Ivy.

For now that is enough to keep me busy, but who knows what the future might hold!

I do have a few other loves in my life besides reading and writing, the most important being my unbelievably patient husband, David, and my two sons, Chance and Alexander.  Without their constant support and belief in me, I never could have been able to follow my dreams.  They are truly my heroes.
