I was so excited when T.M. Frazier announced the upcoming release of Up In Smoke.  As a devoted fan of the King Series, I thought this series was over when Preppy’s story came to a close.  These larger than life bad boys ruled the underworld of Florida with a unique, ruthless code that was devastatingly frightening as well as endearingly righteous .  They owned their KARMA and added their own brand of enforcement. They lovingly took care of their own and ruthlessly handed out their own brand of punishment to those who dared to harm a single hair on those they held dear.  There were a few loose ends after Preppy found his way home but not loose enough for readers to feel jipped or cheated.  Like her characters, T.M. Frazier had to be thorough, thus comes Smoke’s story, a biker/killer for hire and his own unique HEA. It’s a doozy and includes the gang lending their support and quirky insights.

Up In Smoke did not disappoint and definitely opened doors for one other character that has some loose ends.

T.M. Frazier has held me captive throughout the complete King series and I am still her willing prisoner.  Her boys have become a part of my beloved book family and will always be this mama’s favorites.

I highly recommend Up In Smoke… but only after a reader has completed the entire series…prequels included. It’s a delicious reading adventure with unusual characters that will hold you’re complete attention!

Amy Harmon is one of my favorite authors. I know when I pick up one of her books I am in for more than a great romance. I know I am going to get so much more. I am going to get to experience the very best of the human spirit as well as all of it’s glorious flaws. I know that within every character I will see a bit of myself and of others I have come to know in my lifetime. I will get to experience emotional situations from different perspectives and walk away with different insights. Amy’s stories are not self help guides or depictions of emotional situations needing to be analyzed. They are not judgmental of individual reactions or emotions. Her stories are quite the opposite. Her stories are entertaining, emotionally charged that showcase ordinary characters dealing with ordinary situations in life with a sense of dignity and respect. This is what keeps the readers glued to the pages. There’s a magical quality in every paragraph that is realistic and feels valid. And in the end it’s what’s between the lines that makes her books special.

The Smallest Part takes readers back to The Law of Moses world.  The young doctor who helped Moses deal with his unusual gift is also helped by that said gift. Dr. Noah Andelin has suffered a loss and finds himself not only a widower but a single father. Everything he thought he knew about his life is in question.  When a young patient has a vision of his wife it once again changes his perspectives. Everything he thought he knew and understood was different when looked at through different eyes and different emotions. The only thing he can do is go back to the beginning but not dwell on the past. In order to take the steps necessary to move forward in life, he has to step back and allow the pain to take it’s course.  The one thing that has stayed consistent and will always be a foundation in his life is his best friend Mercedes.

The Smallest Part takes the readers on an emotional journey from childhood to present day grief. Life is messy but it’s also a beautiful masterpiece once all the pieces of the puzzle are falling into place.

I was mesmerized by this story and was happy to see the good doctor find his peace. Amy once again brought me to tears with devastating grief, heart- wrenching heartbreak, and complete joy when Noah finally completed his full circle. The power of love is an amazing thing in all it’s ugly and beautiful glory.

My dad had been a biker. He was a nomad when it came to that kind of thing (or, really, any kind of thing). He accepted being tied down by his woman and his daughter only, not anything else. Not a job. Not a mortgage. Not a membership to a club. He hung with a lot of them, including Chaos (in fact, Hammer, sadly now deceased, but one of the founding members of Chaos, had been my father’s best friend).

But he’d never hung with Bounty.

“Don’t like the feel of them,” I’d heard him mutter years ago. “If you’re an outlaw, own the outlaw. If you’re not, own that. You can’t wanna be a Gypsy Joker. You either are or you aren’t. They wanna be. But they aren’t. That shit just ain’t right and it could get dangerous.”

He’d been right.

It got dangerous.

I should have known.

I should have followed my dad.

Mom and me had done it all our lives, job to job, house to house, city to city.

Why I stopped…

Damn.

I knew why I’d stopped.

I’d wanted Shy; Shy, who reminded me of Dad.

And when I couldn’t have him, I’d gone looking.

I’d wanted what my mom had.

I’d wanted that sweetness. That love.

That devotion.

I’d wanted the stability that just seeped down deep into your bones from all that no matter the job changing, the scenery changing, the amount of times you boxed up a house.

Stability had nothing to do with income and locale.

Michel’s Review

As a fan of the Chaos MC series I have been sitting on pins and needles awaiting the release of Rough Ride.  There hasn’t been a release in this series since 2015 and our beloved bikers have been silent.  While we thought they were remaining silent Kristen Ashley was busy with her preparations to blow their world into smithereens.  She’s preparing the boys for a war that’s coming from all directions.  The one thing she’s making sure of is that they have is a solid home base, a reason to fight, and something to come home for… she’s making sure they have love.  Needless to say Snapper and Rosie’s story was another brilliant Kristen Ashley love story.  What made this book stand out in the Chaos series is the ending.  My jaw was on the floor and my heart was beating a million beats a second.  Yup… Kristen Ashley has once again taken her readers hostage in the Chaos clubhouse but this time there may not be the happy ending we are expecting.  I can’t wait for the next Chaos book, Wild Like The Wind to release in July.  The war is at the door and Chaos is ready. Kristen Ashley has her work cut out for her and she’s definitely got the boys under her loving control.

About Kristen Ashley:

Kristen Ashley was born in Gary, Indiana, USA and nearly killed her mother and herself making it into the world, seeing as she had the umbilical cord wrapped around her neck (already attempting to accessorize and she hadn’t taken her first breath!). Her mother said they took Kristen away, put her Mom back in her room, her mother looked out the window, and Gary was on fire (Dr. King had been assassinated four days before). Kristen’s Mom remembered thinking it was the end of the world. Quite the dramatic beginning.

Nothing’s changed.

Kristen grew up in Brownsburg, Indiana and has lived in Denver, Colorado and the West Country of England. Thus, she’s blessed to have friends and family around the globe. Her family was (is) loopy (to say the least) but loopy is good when you want to write. They all lived together on a very small farm in a small farm town in the heartland. She grew up with Glenn Miller, The Everly Brothers, REO Speedwagon and Whitesnake (and the wardrobes that matched).

Needless to say, growing up in a house full of music, clothes and love was a good way to grow up.

And as she keeps growing, it keeps getting better.
