New Release + Excerpt + 4.5-Star Review: Across the Horizon by Aly Martinez

“Sometimes love happens when you least expect it.” That was what my husband’s mistress told me the day I found out about their affair.

I didn’t believe it until five minutes later when mouth-watering celebrity chef Tanner Reese walked up, tossed his arm around my shoulders, and told my cheating husband to take a hike.

Tanner and I couldn’t have been more different. He spent his weekends at clubs, rubbing elbows with fellow A-listers. I spent mine in yoga pants with cheese boards and a glass of wine—or six.

Our relationship shouldn’t have worked, but it did. That is until Tanner proved to me that even though love happens when you least expect it…

So does heartbreak.

EXCERPT:

I shifted the phone to my other ear and asked her, “Did you just get in bed?”

“If, by bed, you mean carrying a glass of wine out back to swing in the hammock, maybe.”

I bit my bottom lip, my head falling back against the headrest. For most men, this would have been an innocuous statement. But for a hammock connoisseur like myself, this was the normal guy equivalent of her saying that she liked to give blowjobs during halftime.

“You have a hammock out back?”

There was a delay in her response, which was followed by a subtle kiss of her lips on what I assumed was a wine glass. “Don’t knock it until you try it. It’s one of the most underrated luxuries in outdoor furniture.”

“Oh, I’m not knocking anything. Rope or quilted?”

“Mayan, actually.”

“Oh, sweet heavenly baby Jesus, she’s beautiful and knows her hammocks. I’ve never been so turned on in my life.”

She giggled, pausing for another sip. “You know, if you leaked this hammock fetish to the press, you could probably increase demand by five million percent and singlehandedly lower the country’s unemployment rate.”

Okay, so at some point during the day, she’d figured out who I was.

But! Even with this knowledge, she was trying to avoid a date with me and was not elbow-deep in planning our televised wedding. This was a definite plus in my book.

“Yeah, but then, when I talked to beautiful women like yourself, I’d have no idea if the hammock was your idea or a ploy to impress me.”

“Jeez, that’s sad, Tanner,” she said, her sweet Southern accent like a wave rolling over my name.

I’d meant it as a joke, but it was the absolute truth when it came to dating. Early on in my career, I’d done a rapid-fire interview about my personal life. One of the questions had been: What would your ideal woman order on the first date? Truth be told, the only thing I hoped my ideal woman would order was something she wanted. I didn’t factor into that. But I’d been on my last question in my last interview of the last day of a month-long press tour. My face had hurt from fake smiling, I’d been in desperate need of a shower, a smoke, and sleep, and my mind had been mush, so I’d prattled off the first thing that had come to mind: shrimp and grits.

That one little answer somehow made it onto my Wiki page, and after that, every woman I’d taken out ordered shrimp and grits. One of them even had a shellfish allergy and nearly ended up in the hospital. And this insanity was not limited to women outside of the spotlight.

I’d once gone on a date with America’s princess of pop, Levee Williams. We’d hit it off at a charity event. For one of the most famous women in the world, she was a surprisingly nice girl, gorgeous, and funny as all get out. But the first time I took her out? One guess what she ordered.

I was at the end of my rope with dating and lost my freaking mind before storming out like an asshole. That night, as I was reporting shrimp and fucking grits as an error to Wiki, I noticed that her page listed it as her favorite food. I’d never had the balls to contact her again, and I once hid behind a palm tree on Rodeo Drive when I heard the clamoring of paparazzi calling her name. But that’s neither here nor there.

In short, while finding a woman was all too easy, dating was hard.

But that wasn’t about to stop me from trying with Rita.

Tracey’s Review

I’m going to be honest, I generally associate an Aly Martinez book with angst and heartache, but, let me tell you, ACROSS THE HORIZON is a whole different animal. A contemporary romance filled with plenty of laugh-out-loud moments and seriously sexy scenes, this book quickly became one of my favorites of 2018.

I’m a picky reader, and an unabashed DNFer, should the situation arise. I’ll give a book my best effort, but, if it’s not doing it for me, well, my TBR is long, and there are deadlines to meet. This book, though, this absolutely delicious book, had me from the first scene. I mean, I couldn’t put it down. The chemistry and just absolute rightness between Tanner and Rita is instantaneous and non-stop. If there are two people that shouldn’t be together, but unquestionably must be, this is the couple. They just work. They get each other, and reading their story put me in a great mood that didn’t let up.

I love angsty reads as much as the next person, and, yes, there are are some somber moments for Tanner and Rita, but I am over the moon to be wrapping up my reading year with a book like ACROSS THE HORIZON. It’s a definite must-read if you’ve read the books in the Darkest Sunrise duet (I have not, but am totally jonesing for more Porter and Charlotte, now that I’ve met them in ACROSS THE HORIZON), or if you’re just looking for a feel-good read that will have you making a fool of yourself for laughing out loud in public. Do yourself a favor and add this one to your reading list, because this 4.5 ‘Can’t Stop Smiling Stars’ treat is not to be missed.

Originally from Savannah, Georgia, USA Today bestselling author Aly Martinez now lives in South Carolina with her four young children.

Never one to take herself too seriously, she enjoys cheap wine, mystery leggings, and baked feta. It should be known, however, that she hates pizza and ice cream, almost as much as writing her bio in the third person.

Series Review: The Wingman Series by Daisy Prescott

wingmen_featuretour

w_rtfGet READY TO FALL

Book 1

Tall, dark, and handsome is an understatement when it comes to John Day. With rugged good looks, his ever present plaid shirt, and a dog named Babe, John is a modern alpha male lumberjack.

After his favorite neighbor rents out her beach cabin for the winter, John finds himself playing fireman and tour guide to Diane Watson, a beautiful brunette with her own messy past and recent battle scars.

Will he be ready to fall in love? Or will he go back to his old, flirty ways?

Hold onto your heart as John Day tells his story in this male POV contemporary adult romance/romantic comedy.

Ready to Fall is the first novel in the Wingmen series, a spin-off from Modern Love Stories. Each book is a standalone with no cliffhanger.

Amazon | iBooks | Kobo | B&N

Tracey’s Review

4.5 StarIn the end, everyone leaves. At least, that’s been John Day’s experience. So, sure, he’s all for having a good time when it comes to the ladies, and, heck, you could even say he’s dating, but, long-term? Nah, not him. When Diane Watson comes from off-island to spend some time at the cabin next door to John, well, he’s just being neighborly, making sure that she has everything that she needs. Soon enough, though, John is just as interested in seeing Diane smile, knowing more about her, spending time with her, and, well, just, her.

I discovered Daisy Prescott’s books a little later, so am just meeting and loving the Wingmen of Whidbey Island, Washington. Daisy has created a quirky but loveable community of people that are steadfast in their sense of community and a little bit kooky at times, and I thoroughly enjoy them all.

John is just fine living life the way that he is. He’s got his job, he’s got his aunt and uncle, and he’s got his buddies, plus he’s making his adolescent dreams come true by dating his high school crush. What’s not to like? When Diane, escaping to Whidbey in the midst of a less-than-friendly divorce, shows up, John does what any good Whidbeyite would do, and takes her under his wing to make sure that she has everything that she needs to live on the island.

One of the things that I like most about this, and others of Daisy’s books, is that things develop over time. Neither John nor Diane is looking at the other as potential dating material (no, that’s all Tom Donely, and he’s a hoot!), and, while there are glimmers of attraction along the way, Daisy takes the time to develop a friendship between them. I thoroughly enjoyed their interactions, their banter, and seeing both of them open up as they became more comfortable with each other. The friends-to-lovers trope is one of my favorites, and Daisy does it humorously and well.

READY TO FALL is 4.5 stars worth of sweet, sexy, redemptive, lumberjacky loveliness, and I just adored it. The icing on the cake, so to speak, is the short epilogue-like addition of TAKE THE CAKE AND RUN, and was the perfect way to end John’s and Diane’s story. Daisy’s stories have become some of my favorites, and, if you haven’t read her WINGMEN books yet, you’re missing out. Grab these books and settle in, because you’re going to love them.

w_confessionsCONFESSIONS OF A REFORMED TOM CAT

Book 2

, Thomas Clifford Donnely, am a manwhore.

You can call me Tom Cat. I’ve been told I’m irresistible to women. Like catnip for a different kind of pussy-cat.
This is the story about how I lost my wingman, broke all my own rules, and found myself falling in love.

Tom Donnely isn’t the marrying kind, or the dating kind. Even after losing his #1 wingman to love, he doesn’t see the point in relationships. When his sister’s best friend returns to Whidbey Island and propositions Donnely for a one-night stand, he breaks one of his biggest rules–no fooling around with his sisters’ friends. It’s just sex, nothing more. That’s what Tom does and does well.

What happens when “just sex” isn’t enough?

Hailey King is more than a match for Tom’s flirtations. She’s known him most of her life and has heard the rumors about his “skills” for years. When her perfectly planned future falls apart, will the last man she should ever fall for turn out to be more than a one-night stand?

Amazon | iBooks | Kobo | B&N

Michel’s Review

4.5 StarThis is the first book I have read by Daisy Prescott. I absolutely loved her writing style, witty dialogue, and sense of humor. The Confessions of A Reformed Tom Cat was entertaining, fun, charming, sexy, and romantic. I loved that the book was written from Tom’s POV and each chapter was a confession. He is a fun guy that doesn’t take himself too seriously and recognizes his faults as well as strengths. He loves his family, he’s hard working, he’s honest, and he’s true. Watching this man whore fall was fun and swoon worthy.

Hailey is one of those heroines that is easy to love. She has known Tom since childhood. He is her best friend’s older brother. She’s got his number, she knows that he is a manwhore with a revolving door. She still can’t help falling for him. When it becomes clear that she is the perfect woman for him, she gives him a few lessons that will capture his attention and heart.

This book was a fun, witty, and sexy read. I highly recommend it.

w_ablANYTHING BUT LOVE

Book 3

Another wingman bites the dust in this enemies-to-lovers standalone romantic comedy.

For the past year, I’ve been working my butt off to start my own coffee company on Whidbey.

A weekend in Cabo with sun, tiny bikinis, and vacation hook-ups is exactly the kind of tension relief I need.

What I don’t need is a bruised jaw, having to bribe my way out of jail, a hellion set on ruining my life, and my mother seeing a picture of my assets on “The Twitter.”

Caribou Caldwell is my worst nightmare.
Unfortunately, she’s also the star of my sexiest dreams.

What happens when a small town guy becomes the focus of a million fantasies? As Erik Kelso navigates his sudden notoriety, will his feelings for Cari turn out to be anything but love?

Amazon | iBooks | Kobo | B&N

Tracey’s Review

4.5 StarOne unguarded moment. That’s all it takes for Erik Kelso to become an overnight media sensation. Faster than he can say ‘Cheese!’ Erik’s backside is plastered across social media outlets, bringing him and the good people of Whidbey Island into the spotlight in a way that he could never have anticipated. What’s worse? The person, erm, behind it all is the sassy woman currently starring in Erik’s less-than-innocent dreams…

What makes a book a winning read for me? Laugh-out-loud moments, snark and wit, characters that I can see wanting to spend time with, and a story line that doesn’t quit. I can say, without a doubt, that Daisy Prescott delivers on every single one of these things with ANYTHING BUT LOVE, the latest book in her Wingmen series.

Daisy has done an excellent job of capturing the current state of instant fame, where hashtags rule and Snapchat can be your friend…or not. The characters in ANYTHING BUT LOVE are typical, everyday kind of folks, living life in the 21st century. Regardless of age or gender, everyone is swept up in the furor that erupts when Erik’s fanny becomes the most sought-after unicorn of the moment. I spent a good amount of my time literally laughing out loud at the situations that Erik found himself in as a result of his momentary lack of judgment. That it takes place amidst the small-town atmosphere of Whidbey Island, Washington, with all of the usual suspects from Daisy’s prior books, makes it an even more heartwarming and entertaining read.

I really appreciate that, between crazy chase scenes and some uber-steamy moments, Daisy takes the time to remind us that even characters in books have to deal with the same issues that we do. Family secrets, money problems, poor health, unrequited love, these are part of everyday life for everybody, and seeing that Erik, Cari, and the rest of the crew have to deal with them just made me appreciate this book, and Daisy’s writing, even more. ANYTHING BUT LOVE is an easy 4.5-star read for me, and I can’t wait for the next book in the Wingmen series. Add Erik and his story to your TBR, because it is one that you do not want to miss.

Maybe love can be better the second time around.

When one of my wingmen needs help, I’ll do anything for him, including calling in a favor with the one person I swore I’d never speak to again.

Excerpt

“We’re having a threesome,” Zack announced with a grin.

Heather was comfortable with her battery-operated-boyfriend, and maybe that would help them transition to the big show. And he was also curious what he had
to measure up to. He’d never actually used one before himself, he liked doing things the old-fashioned way, so this would be new for him too.

Heather shot up to sit and glare at him. “I don’t think so, cowboy,” she said, scooting toward the foot of the bed. Zack grabbed her arm, and she tried to
pull away.

“With Bob,” he clarified, laughter bubbling in his throat. “Where do you keep him?”

“Oh!” she said, then her eyes narrowed. “Really?”

“Really,” Zack confirmed.

Heather huffed a breath as she collapsed on her back on the bed. “You had me scared there for a second.” The tremble in her voice made him sorry he’d
teased her.

With a growl, he laid beside her and put his arm over her waist. She looked at him, and he held her gaze. “I will never do anything to scare or hurt you,
Heather. You’re still in control, angel. Always in control. Do you understand?” She nodded, and he kissed her forehead. “Now where does Bob sleep?” he
asked, with a laugh, trying to get her comfortable again.

“In the nightstand drawer,” she replied with a giggle. “He has a nice, comfy velvet sleeping bag in there.”

“Only the best for Bob,” Zack said. He rolled to the edge of the bed, sat up and pulled open the drawer. Fishing around blindly, his pinkie brushed velvet,
and his hand closed over a very small pouch, which confused him. “Bob’s awfully small,” he commented pulling out the pouch to loosen the strings. He
emptied the small silver bullet and rubber ring out into his hand and was even more confused.

“Bob is a vibrator, not a dildo. That’s in the closet, because I kind of bought one that was a little too big.” She rolled up behind him, then sat up to
take the vibrator from his hand. Shoving it into the rubber sheath, Heather slid it onto her forefinger, and wiggled it. “Voila—instant orgasm. No man
needed,” she said smugly.

“Yeah, but how will it be with a real man behind the controls?” Zack asked, sliding the rubber band from her finger to put it on own. He wiggled it under
her nose. “Put on your seatbelt, baby—Bob is on the bus, but Zack is driving it to O-town.”

4.5 Star

Tracey’s Review

Heather Morrison’s life is about to change. An aspiring singer, Heather is on the verge of finally getting her chance at the big time, but just one moment changes everything. Zack Taylor is just where he wants to be. At the top of his game as a rodeo bullrider, life couldn’t look better, but trying to do the right thing has altered his course completely.

Too Hot To Trot is the third book in the Cowboy Crazy series by Becky McGraw, and is the same enjoyable read that I have come to expect from Becky. Heather is a spitfire, relying only on herself after years of having no one else to help her. She will do whatever it takes to keep her past buried, and whatever she needs to get by. When circumstances arise that threaten to reveal what she’s worked so hard to overcome, she’s in need of a helping hand. When that helping hand ends up being Zack, in need of some help himself, neither of them is expecting where things will lead.

Becky is a master of the alpha man meeting his match in a strong woman. Zack is completely unprepared to be bowled over by Heather, and watching it happen is entertaining, hot, and romantic. And Heather gives as good as she gets, but seeing her finally let down her guard enough to trust Zack is heartwarming and swoon-inducing.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book that is by turn funny, dramatic, and downright sexy. 4.5 sassy, steamy, can’t turn the pages quickly enough stars for Becky McGraw and Too Hot To Trot.

Michel’s Review

*** Arc Copy provided by publisher, via Edelweiss, for a fair and honest review. ***

Back in November Smut Book Junkie Reviewers were searching for Holiday Themed Romances to feature throughout the month of December.  I came across this book and it sounded very intriguing.  First of all, I am a huge fan of Sports Romances.  I love a good romance that engages a professional athlete in the game of love.  Secondly, I love Holiday Romances.  These kind of books always get me in the holiday spirit.  The combination is bright and merry and leaves the reader with an uplifted spirit.

Holding Holly was everything I hoped for.  It had the magic of Christmas, the spirit of giving, a heartwarming romance, and exceptional characters.  This book was highly entertaining even though it was on the milder side of the romance heat index.  It didn’t matter because the story itself was captivating.

When Derrick Collins takes his mother and grandmother out for some holiday shopping in the small town of Noel, he stumbles upon more than a town full of holiday cheer.  He runs into Holly Reynolds.  He has secretly had a crush on Holly from the previous summer football camp.  She is a shy, kind , and beautiful woman that intrigues his interest.

When Derrick asks Holly on a date, little do either of them know that this date will change both of them.  Trapped in a snow storm with Holly’s grandmother will give them another reason to be together.  Holly’s grandmother has had a 30 year Christmas project that she needs help with.  She enlists Derrick, Holly, and the Sharks to give one family in Noel a very special Christmas.  This project will give Derrick and Holly the gift of love in many ways.

I absolutely loved this magical holiday romance.  Little did I know that this book was a novella in the Love and Football series.  I liked Julie Brannagh’s style of writing.  Her characters are larger than life and full of personality.  Her writing flows with ease.  I had to look up the other books in this series and get them on my ereader.  Like I said, I am a sucker for Sports Romance.  I am now a fan of Julie Brannagh’s writing.  I highly recommend Holding Holly.  It will make your holiday season merrier.

The last thing she needs or wants is a distraction … or help, for that matter. Especially in the form of gorgeous and aggravatingly arrogant ex-NFL star Matt Stephens.

Since meeting her in the bar after her sister’s wedding, he’s known there’s something between them. But when she finds herself alone in a hotel room with a heart-stoppingly gorgeous man—who looks oddly familiar—Kendall throws her own rules out the window … and they blow right back into her face.

Drew McCoy should look familiar; he’s a star player for her team’s archrival, the Seattle Sharks. Which would basically make Drew and Kendall the Romeo and Juliet of professional football … well, without all the dying.

Not that it’s an issue. They agree to pretend their encounter never happened. Nothing good can come of it anyway, right?

Drew’s not so sure. Kendall may be all wrong for him, but he can’t stop thinking about her, and he finds that some risks are worth taking. Because the stakes are always highest when you’re playing for keeps.

SBJ: Today, I sat down with Jennifer Bernard and talked a little bit about the end of one hot era and the beginning of a whole new ball game.
Mrs. Bernard has had a fabulous run with her “Bachelor Firemen of San Gabriel” series and it’s told that her upcoming novel, THE NIGHT BELONGS TO FIREMAN, to be released on September 30, 2014 will be the FINAL novel, but there will also be a Christmas-themed novella, IT’S A WONDERFUL FIREMAN out on December 2, 2014.

Jenny: Welcome and Thank You for your time.

Thank you so very much for having me!

SBJ: What authors have left an impact on you as a reader and which have influenced you as a writer?

Jenny: The first book I remember really LOVING was Little Women. I adored that book and I think it had a huge influence on what I believe a book should deliver. I cried buckets over the death of one of the sisters. It was truly tragic for nine-year-old me. But despite that very sad event, I drew so much comfort from the book that I used it to lull myself to sleep when I was anxious. I still look for those two things in a book: emotional impact and a sense of hope. As a writer, I think it’s the same. My training as a writer comes from obsessive reading from an early age. As I got older, I wanted books that reflected the adult world. That’s when I got into romance and sexier books. The first sexy book I read was The Story of O — by mistake. Boy, did that one blow my mind!

SBJ: While we are reading the newest Jennifer Bernard book, who are you reading?

Jenny: I’m about to dive into Insurgent. Divergent wrecked me. I read it twice, watched the movie twice, read all the “Four” stories, and now I’m finally ready to approach Insurgent. These might be YA stories, but I think Veronica Roth has created such a fascinating world and characters, I get totally pulled into her work. I know once I start it I’ll lose a couple of days.

SBJ: In the past two and a half years, you’ve given us some fantastic “Bachelor Firemen” stories. The characters have been smart, heart-warming and fun, loyal and courageous, humble and brave. Where did these fantastic men and women come from? And although the series is said to be over, might we see any more of them in the future?

Jenny: Thank you, I love hearing all those kind words about my firemen and women! I like to think of them as being “everymen and women” in the sense that as human beings, we all have the capacity for amazing good. We have the opposite capacity too, of course. But when I write my heroes and heroines, I’m holding up a mirror to you and to everyone else and saying, ‘You’re beautiful and brave and down-to-earth and funny and wow, really really sexy. And you face struggles and triumph over hardship and you find strength in yourself you didn’t even know was there.” I guess I have a very hopeful view of humanity, and that’s where my characters come from. I’m not naive; I’ve seen and experienced plenty of the bad. But I believe the good is so fundamental that it will win out.

SBJ: Who was your favorite fireman? Why?

Jenny: Don’t make me choose!!! Please! I love them all too much. My favorite is always the last one I’ve written, so i suppose at the moment it’s Fred, who is the ultimate “everyman” hero. But I love them all. And back to the question of whether we’ll see them again, I would love that. I have more fireman story ideas, it’s just a matter of finding the time to write them in between contracted books. I wouldn’t be at all surprised if the Bachelor Firemen made some repeat appearances. After all, there’s the whole B shift to write about!

SBJ: Now that the Bachelors are all married off, what can we look forward to next?

Jenny: I’ve got baseball players on the brain. My next series is about the Kilby Catfish, a wild and fun-loving minor league baseball team from Texas. I am loving these guys and having a lot of fun immersing myself in their world. These stories are a little edgier and sexier than the Bachelor Firemen books. The first, ALL OF ME, will be out in June 2015. I can’t wait!

SBJ: Taken from your very own Hot Readers book group, the ever-intriguing question of “You are sitting at a table with three more chairs. Who’s sitting in those chairs with you?”

Jenny: Okay, now I feel bad posing that question, because it’s such a hard one! Do the other people have to be real? I’ll go with Professor Dumbledore, Mr. Darcy, and Bette Midler. That should make for a fun conversation.

SBJ: Thank you for taking the time to visit and answer some questions, it’s been a pleasure having you here with us. We wish you the best on your upcoming releases and new projects.

Jenny: It’s my pleasure, thank you so much for having me!

Tina’s Review

***Provided to me by Edelweiss in exchange for an honest review. **

To be honest? I chose it because I have really enjoyed the entire series and Mrs. Bernard’s writing syle. She quickly became one of my favorite authors, but in no way does that effect my ability to critique it honestly.

Fred aka STUD, is one of the last-standing bachelor firemen. He’s coming off a martial arts tournament and has Mulligan along playing wingman. They decide to stop into the local bar to celebrate and he soon finds his trophy pilfered by a gal in a veil with a penchant for mishaps.

Rachel leads a normally secluded and overly-protected life for a reason, but when one of her best friends is getting married, she has to celebrate with them. Right? And if that means accepting a dare of stealing Mr. Sexy’s trophy, she just has to do it! After all, it IS a dare!
Fred and Rachel have a brief few encounters at the bar, all revolving around Fred pulling her cute little butt out of harm’s way, but it’s the accident leaving the bar that draws the two closer still. With a paranoid parent, a crazy kidnapper, lingering threats from 17 years earlier and REFUGE isn’t always what it seems, this story never has a dull moment.

Why did I choose to read this book?
To be honest? I chose it because I have really enjoyed the entire series and Mrs. Bernard’s writing syle. She quickly became one of my favorite authors, but in no way does that effect my ability to critique it honestly.

This should not be read as a stand-alone novel.
Mrs. Bernard has truly done her research when capturing the persona, demeanor and general attitude of a fireman. Her heroes have all been sexy, heartwarming and humble. This is the last full-length novel in the series and I, for one, am sad to see it end. I’ve referred to her writing style in the past as being the equivelant to the tactile sensation of sun-warmed silk sheets or a fountain of flowing, rich dark chocolate. While I found THE NIGHT BELONGS TO FIREMAN to be extremely easy to read and the flow was perfectly fluid, I did not get the same rich and seductive vibe as from her other books. I think this is because of the character persona that was built up by his colleages throughout the series. I viewed him as “the kid” or “the little brother” that the bigger boys liked to lovingly pick on.

I have truly enjoyed this series as a whole, THE NIGHT BELONGS TO FIREMAN is a wonderful concluding novel. Fred’s light and joy truly made me smile countless times. Rachel’s stubborn determination made me want to cheer for her. Fred’s interactions with Mulligan and Vader made me laugh out loud, especially the scene at Double D’s house. The neighbor kids were wonderful and thoroughly enjoyable. The blend of humor and sass are perfectly mixed with the action and intrigue.
The plot was solid. The climax was chaotic, but not in a bad way (More like “when it rains, it pours”). There were a few loose ends that I would have liked seen resolved (ie: the outcome of the refuge and escapees from THE night. Who was TREE?). I’d thought for sure I knew who “he” was, but Mrs. Bernard was NOT that predictable.

Author Bio:

JennyBJennifer Bernard is a graduate of Harvard and a former news promo producer. The child of academics, she confounded her family by preferring romance novels to … well, any other books. She left big city life for true love in Alaska, where she now lives with her husband and stepdaughters.
