I sit up when I see a few bikes in the distance. I don’t recognize their patches, but that doesn’t surprise me. Tennessee has a huge MC community, and there are always new clubs popping up all over the state. I slow down as I close the distance between us.

The closer I get, the more details I can make out. The group of about five bikes in front of me are all Harleys, all ranging in colors from almost purple to black. None of the men are wearing helmets, which is the complete opposite of me, who is covered from head to toe in black leather. Even my helmet is all black, with leather piping.

I take the men in, noticing they are all well-built, their leather cuts displaying a large eagle, with its wings spread wide like it’s midflight. The talons of the bird are carrying a long stem rose, with petals falling off it onto their club name, The Broken Eagles. I begin to speed up and pass them one by one, thankful for the security of my helmet, the black visor making it impossible to see me.

I keep my head straight until the last guy, the one who is at the front of the group, catches my attention. From the back, his hair is the first thing I notice. It’s slightly long on top and buzzed on the sides. My eyes move to the expanse of his back, the wide set of his shoulders, and the tan skin covering his lean muscles. His bike is low to the ground, and the bars are in front of him in a way that he has to stretch his arms straight out, causing every muscle to flex and move, making it look like the tattoos are alive and dancing.

My eyes skim farther down over his chest, which is covered in a white tank top tucked into a pair of light jeans, and around his waist is a black belt with a large silver buckle. I continue to pass him, my eyes shifting from the road to him and back again. This time when I look over, his head is turned towards me, and if I didn’t know any better, I would have swear he is looking directly into my soul.

“Holy shit,” I whisper, taking in his hair, the set of his jaw that is covered in days of stubble, and a pair of light eyes I can’t quite make out through the tint of my helmet. He is seriously hot, but equally scary-looking. I look from him back to the road. It must not have been even a second, but when my eyes go to the asphalt in front of me, I see a bird that is trying to make its way across the road, its wing hanging in an awkward position. I swerve to the right just in time to miss the poor animal.

“What the fuck?” I hear roared, and I look over my shoulder at the man who is now coming up quick on my right side. I yell an apology over the sound of my engine and his pipes. Do a quick wave and take off, lowering my body and pulling back the throttle, wanting to get away from them. Dude looks seriously pissed off, and even though I hate leaving the bird behind without helping it, I would like to live to see my next birthday.

I think I’m in the clear, but then the sound of pipes fills my ears, and I don’t even know how it happens, but they all catch up with me, surrounding my bike. I can’t make out what they’re saying, but my stomach starts to roll at the sound of their voices. I feel my side to make sure I have the Taser my dad insisted I carry.

I see a clearing and pull my bike off to the side of the road. I know this is probably one of the stupidest things I have ever done, but if they keep chasing me like they have been, we could all end up seriously hurt. I pull over and don’t even shut down my bike. I just lower my kickstand as my heart, which was already beating hard, begins to bang violently against my ribcage as they surround me.

“What the fuck is wrong with you?” the guy who was at the head of the group asks, stepping in front of my bike.

I shake my head as my words get lodged in my throat.

He pulls me off my bike, and the men who are with him begin yelling obscenities as well.

“Sorry,” I croak out, and I don’t even know if he hears me as his hand goes to the collar of my leather jacket, where he shakes me hard. My hand accidently presses down on the button that ignites the Taser. The loud crack fills the air, and his eyes go wide then he falls to the ground, and I fall on my ass and crabwalk backwards. I look up when I hit something, only to meet the eyes of another man, who looks pissed.

“Get up,” he growls, picking me up. My feet flail under me as I’m lifted off the ground with my hands restrained behind my back.

“Hold him still,” the guy who I had tasered growls in front of me as I try to get away from the anger I feel coming off him. His hands go to my head and he rips my helmet off, causing my hair to float down around me.

Complete silence descends I swear no one even takes a breath.

“Um.” I bite my lip.

Michel’s Review

Until July by Aurora Rose Reynolds was a pure pleasure to read. It is the first book in the Until Her series which features the lovely daughters of the Mayson men in the Until Series. It’s great witnessing Alpha Daddy’s lose their cool when their darling princesses start stepping out and making a life of their own. Not to mention allowing other men in their lives besides Alpha Daddy’s and Alpha Jrs. If the Alpha Daddy’s don’t have gray hair yet, their little princesses are going to give them a full head of it.

July Mayson is the first born in the Alpha Mayson family. She has grown up to be a strong, smart, and very beautiful young lady. She possesses the best qualities of both of her parents and sets a fine example for her sisters and cousins. She has become a vet because of her childhood doggie, Beast.

When she is out on her motorcycle she almost causes a collision with a bunch of bikers while trying to avoid hitting an injured bird in the road. What happens next is beyond her imagination. She has just tasered the future love of her life. It wasn’t just the taser that got Wes Silver’s attention. July Mayson has stunned him with her beauty and attitude.

Wes Silver is what Alpha men are made of. His good looks, tough attitude, and take no prisoners charm is going to knock Asher Mayson off his throne. This ring is into more than dogfighting, they are also into human trafficking. Wes’s MC club has been brought in to help Jax Mayson and his men shut this ring down. Not only are they dealing with this but also Alpha Daddy Asher, who is having some issues with letting his baby go. Then there are all the Alpha Mayson relatives that feel the need to protect their Mayson princesses. But mamma Mayson’s lay down the law. Mayson princesses scheme to overthrow their Alpha Daddy’s.

I really enjoyed this book. Aurora Rose Reynolds writes a red hot sexy romance that is full of fun and charm. Her alpha men are the sexiest men in print. I am so happy to see the Mayson legacy live on. I am happy to see the Mayson Alpha Daddy’s getting a taste of their own medicine. Well done Aurora!

Cover thoughts: No Shirt, Wield Shield, Will Service? It’s kind of an awkward cover that does not accurately represent the story inside. He should have looked more like a motorcycle mechanic or something… but this, it’s just gratuitous man-flesh. 😉 Synopsis is pretty on-point.
Technically, this is the third book to the series, but each stands alone. The force of attraction between Scott and Nikki was like magnet to steel, leading to a whirlwind marriage and a few good years. Then their marriage fell victim to his two-year UC persona, ultimately resulting in divorce. Now, circumstances bring them together to work on a joint task force determined to put an end to drug smugglers that are using the AKC competitive world as their smokescreen while gruesome, inhumane acts are being carried out behind-the-scenes. Nikki, now going by Cole, takes the position claiming she needs this “for closure” when the truth is, she’s just as effected by Scott as she was the day she met him. Scott knows he screwed up and he doesn’t deserve her, but damn if he doesn’t want her with a viciousness! This is the Love/Hate relationship for the ages and their unresolved issues are epic.
The characters are well-written and enjoyable. The secondaries are supportive and beneficial to the story. Hugo and Izzy truly come to life and convey such emotion and personality. I love the natural interaction and dialogue between characters. The fluidity of the story has a smooth progression and even when it only puts you through the mundane, it is still a pleasure to read. The plot does have plenty of action and throughout it all, it keeps you excited to see how things would unfold. I had my suspicions early on about who the “bad guy(s)” is/are and was right about the main one & somewhat right about the lesser players. There were plenty of conflicts which, in the beginning, were denied and avoided or compounded by mis- or non-communication, as the story progressed, the conflicts were resolved much more maturely and cohesively. The conclusion is solid and wraps up all loose ends in a manner that was not rushed or drawn out.

Tina’s Review

All Male Romance. Setting: England.
Immediately, I fell in love with the character of Malachi. Harper took a little more time to warm up to. Both have such uniquely tragic pasts. Malachi was miserable, as the submissive partner to an over-dominant man for too long. Harper was falsely convicted and imprisoned for ten years. Both are trying to make adjustments to their new lots in life.
There’s a full cast of secondary characters that create a rich spectrum of personality types. The dialogue and interactions are believable, natural and brimming with humanity of the best and worst kind. This entire book is a study in conflicts, better is how those conflicts are resolved. Mature and time-appropriate progression, with an allowance for mistakes and misunderstandings to be corrected. The plot is deceptive in that it seems like it will be a straight-forward contemporary, but there is a lot of hidden conspiracy and mystery going on. Festering hatred and blind ignorance fuel crimes both old and new and leave Harper and Malachi in a tailspin of what-the-f@ckery. There was very little predictability; in fact, my short list of top suspects were all wrong. That does not happen often. I would have liked to have known if the culprit knew him prior to the initial contact (that’s about the best way I can phrase is while not giving away a spoiler). The conclusion was very solid. There were no cliffhangers.
This was a very enjoyable read. Emotional and suspenseful.

Tina’s Review

She’s developing an anti-piracy program that they want. He’s being blackmailed into integrating himself within her company so he can take it from her for them. Liv and Jon are both well-written characters and are complemented by a strong secondary cast of likable and not-so likable characters, as the author intended. The dialogue and interaction is believable and natural. The story is a little short, but still packs in a pretty full plot and enough dynamics to keep it from falling flat. There was a smooth, easy flow to the writing that made for easy readability. There are a few conflicts interwoven throughout the plot which could have been resolved so much quicker if they’d had better communication, but what fun would the story be then, right? So, the conflicts are resolved in the end with little predictability. The conclusion was solid although I was still a bit unsure of who Rudy was working with. Of Ms. Claire’s books that I’ve read, I must say this one was my favorite so far.

Amber L. Johnson continues to show her diversity as a writer in her most recent novel titled For Authentication Purposes. I have now read six novels written by Johnson, and I find myself impressed by the variety of topics and genres in which she writes. Young Adult. New Adult. Contemporary Romance. And now erotic romance. The improvement in her writing is noticeable as she continues to publish stories that she has written over the last few years. Johnson has labeled this story “humorotica,” which is entirely appropriate because For Authentication Purposes is funny. Really, really funny!

Dawn Sims and Warner Green met in the eighth grade. It didn’t take long for them to give each other nicknames. Bunny and Wardo. They have a colorful past. Warner was always hanging around. Looking at Dawn. Sitting in front of her in class. Warner was good-looking. He hung around with the bad crowd and always got into fights. Every girl wanted his attention, but not Dawn. Now its ten years later, and Dawn has decided to take night classes towards an English degree. She is in the process of writing a novel, and she wants to have some credibility when she submits her manuscript to a publisher. Once again, Warner and Dawn have end up in the same class, where he sits nearby and continues with his usual harassment. When Dawn excuses herself to go to the ladies room, Warner reads a portion of the historical romance she is writing, and he recognizes it is bad. Very bad.

Warner gives Dawn plenty of grief. He tells her she writes terrible porn – think “love buttons” and “pink pebbled peaks”. Dawn has no idea how to write sex because of her inexperience, so of course, Warner makes her an offer she can hardly refuse. He offers to show Dawn the ropes for research purposes, so her writing will be authentic. For authentication purposes. After all, you can only write about what you know.

I discovered Johnson after receiving a recommendation to read Puddle Jumping. Puddle Jumping was one of my favorite novels that I read during 2014. It’s considered a young adult or mature young adult novel. I almost always feel more comfortable reading novels from these genres, but I will occasionally read an erotic romance upon recommendation. I admit I was curious to see how Johnson would fare in this genre. And you know what? I was pleasantly surprised! I enjoyed this story – something which is extremely important to me when I read erotic romance. For Authentication Purposes is hot! It’s erotic in the best kind of way, but there is also an intriguing story buried beneath the surface which slowly unfolds with each chapter. All of these things, combined with Johnson’s witty humor and excellent writing, kept me turning the pages until the end. I’m giving For Authentication Purposes a 4.5 star rating. I can’t wait to see what is next from Amber L. Johnson!

By Any Other Name is the first novel of the Forbidden series. It’s a modern-day version of William Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet from author J. M. Darhower, and I am extremely impressed with her interpretation of this famous star-crossed tragedy.

In New York City, there are five major crime families that control the underworld: the Galantes, the Barsantis, the Amaros, the Genevas and the Calabreses. While the Galantes and the Barsantis are at war with each other, the other three crime families attempt to remain neutral.

Matteo Barsanti is the oldest son of Roberto Barsanti. Matteo disappeared from society as a child. Hidden away by his father, his existence has largely become an urban legend. Matteo returns to his family in New York City only when he learns his mother has become critically ill.

Genevieve Galante is the only daughter of Primo Galante. Because she has been extremely sheltered by her family, Genna is naturally inclined to fight any and every rule. And fight the rules she does! Genna has been in trouble with the police “for everything from underage drinking to trespassing to vandalism,” but it’s her arrest for grand theft auto which lands her in criminal court.

Here is where the story gets interesting. When Genna leaves court, she has a chance encounter with a family enemy. She unknowingly steps onto an elevator with Matteo Barsanti……and then the elevator breaks down. Since Matteo has been missing from the circles of the New York City underworld, neither of them recognize who the other is. Stuck between floors of the criminal court building, Genna and Matty get to know each other, which leads to him asking her if she would like to go get a drink.

Darhower is consummate when she writes about the Mafia. These stories are always packed full of intrigue, nail-biting action and romantic suspense. By Any Other Name no different. It was completely intense! And I just fell in love with Matty and Genna – I couldn’t help but pull for these star-crossed lovers. Of course, this had me unsettled because it felt as if I was waiting for a train wreck to happen! Remember Romeo and Juliet?

My mind is having trouble letting go of this story. Darhower states in her acknowledgments that By Any Other Name was her National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) novel of 2013. She also mentions she wrote By Any Other Name in thirty days. Thirty days! Honestly, the more I think about this novel, the more impressed with it that I am. If you are looking for an exciting new novel, I recommend By Any Other Name by J. M. Darhower. My rating is 4.5 stars.

Michel’s Review

This is the first book I have read by Daisy Prescott. I absolutely loved her writing style, witty dialogue, and sense of humor. The Confessions of A Reformed Tom Cat was entertaining, fun, charming, sexy, and romantic. I loved that the book was written from Tom’s POV and each chapter was a confession. He is a fun guy that doesn’t take himself too seriously and recognizes his faults as well as strengths. He loves his family, he’s hard working, he’s honest, and he’s true. Watching this man whore fall was fun and swoon worthy.

Hailey is one of those heroines that is easy to love. She has known Tom since childhood. He is her best friend’s older brother. She’s got his number, she knows that he is a manwhore with a revolving door. She still can’t help falling for him. When it becomes clear that she is the perfect woman for him, she gives him a few lessons that will capture his attention and heart.

This book was a fun, witty, and sexy read. I highly recommend it.

This novella opens with Sandy and Doug Thalberg hosting a family gathering in their cozy cabin in the woods and traditional retelling of a romantic tale that began two days before Christmas. Reporter, Jessica Fitzpatrick, sits in to hear the local, infamous story first-hand. The tale is not told in a narrative form, but rather as if it were happening real-time. It concludes with the family and Jessica in the cabin.
The full cast of characters are well-written. The plot, dialogue and character interaction are believable, flow is smooth. Because of the time frame and novella length, it’s hard to pack a lot of dynamics in, but it did have some minor dimension. The conflicts were fairly mild and handled maturely. Predictability was virtually nil. Overall, a super short, but sweet, read.

Summer is in love with Caleb, but Caleb has it in his mind that regardless how he feels about Summer, he cannot act upon it because she is Jack’s little sister. Jack’s his best friend and there’s a bro-code to follow. If that’s not enough, they served in Iraq together and he feels he owes his life to Jack. Even more, now he’s even working for Jack on the ranch. To say Summer is off-limits is an understatement. But she’s determined as all get-out to make him hers.
Very few novellas manage to create character depth and a full and dynamic plot worthy of a 5-star rating from me, but… here we are. Is it possible for a reader to fall in love with a novella’s hero? Most definitely. Caleb and Jack’s tormented souls each deserve a full-length novel. Great characters, written with loads of depth and dimension. The dialogue is smart and sassy by turns. The plot is very enjoyable and flows so smoothly I wanted more. The entire plot was based on the conflict, which obviously gets resolved in a wonderful way. I easily would have enjoyed this story and these characters if it would have been a full-length novel and am intrigued with the rest of the series as a result.

Alana perpetually makes poor decisions when it comes to men, but she’s done with that. Through an online date-matching site, she finds her perfect man. She decides to surprise him for the Holidays at the family ranch in Taos, NM but the Hawaiian is ill-prepared for the blizzard that causes her to slide into a ditch somewhere on the ranch’s property. She’s even less prepared for a snow-laden calf or a sexy Cowboy Viking – Winter Warrior that finds her.
This was a fun read. I totally and thoroughly enjoyed Alana. Her winter warrior wasn’t too bad either. This was a REALLY short story, or is was written so well that it felt shorter than short. The flow, dialogue, interaction was smooth and believable. The plot was light and fun. Not predictable, really. There was just enough dynamics and dimension to keep it from being flat. A very well-liked novella.

Looking at my phone screen, I smile at the text in front of me.

I’m off 2nite. Movie @ ur house or mine?

Texting back, I tell my best friend I will be at her house after work with takeout. Working in a bank, I have every weekend off. Casey’s career path is far different than mine, though, and it is one that requires weekend time; as a result, this is the first Friday she has had off in a while.

My day drags on as I review current investment portfolios and market changes. I have the best job ever. I get paid to spend other people’s money as an investment broker here in South Beach. My life is sun, sand, and dollar bills.

Before going to Casey’s, I stop by my condo and change clothes. The down side to my job is the stuffy suits I have to wear: reasonable, past knee-length skirts, reasonable women’s dress pants, and reasonable button up shirts. I might hate them; yet, in a sad way, the dress code fits my life—reasonable.

It is not long into girl’s night before the difference in our lifestyle’s show.

“Damn, we’re not even halfway through the first movie, and you’re ready for bed? What the hell? Grandparents stay up later than you,” My best friend wakes me out of my doze.

“Sorry, some of us keep normal business hours.”

“Yeah, your hours scream forty-two, not twenty-four, as does everything else in your life.”

“I’m not that bad,” I protest half-heartedly. However, that voice of doubt says “maybe I am.” Maybe my stiff upbringing has rubbed off on me more than I care to admit.

My parents raised me to be an example. As the oldest of three, I had to be the light to guide my younger sisters, Madyson and Mallory. Everything with my parents was about fitting the mold, keeping up appearances. Their brainwashing worked to some degree. Going away to college did nothing for me in my attempt to escape my overbearing parents, either. No, they live in my head, every rule engraved into my brain matter. Too bad no one warned me there is no cure and no escape once they get those rules engrained into my very being.

Ice by Jessie Lane and Chelsea Camaron is the first book in the Regulators MC series.

What a fantastic start! The very first paragraph caught my attention and I was hooked to the end. This book had all the gritty elements readers expect from a biker romance. It was not a fluffy romance. This book also had a very unique flavor to it.

Ice is the president of the Regulators MC. He is retired special ops forces and now makes his own rules in life. He is also a single father of a sixteen year old daughter. Trying to be a good father and keep her heading in the right direction as well as running the Regulators is no easy task. We all know how sixteen year old girls can be. We all know teenagers can be defiant. Their choices are made on instant gratification rather than looking at the long term effects .

Morgan is an investment banker that lives a very quiet life. Her younger years were spent trying to please parents that had high expectations. It wasn’t because they wanted the best for her, it was about how the family appeared in the social circles. Being the oldest daughter put a lot of pressure on her. Her two younger sisters defied their parents to get their attention in hopes of getting their love. When Morgan’s younger sister is kicked out of their parents house , Morgan ends up taking her in.

Morgan’s sister and Ice’s daughter are best friends. They choose the wrong kinds of friends and end up in a world of trouble. Morgan’s sister ends up being kidnapped by a human trafficking ring. That trafficking ring is the very ring that the Regulators are trying to take down one piece at a time.

The situation brings Morgan and Ice into each others opposite worlds. As we all know, opposites do attract. Morgan and Ice find that they have more than teenagers in common. They have an undeniable chemistry. Together they are sizzling hot.

There is never a dull moment in this book. Action is taking place in many different ways. From the Regulators MC club and it’s members to the troublesome teenagers, a horrific human trafficking faction, and a red hot romance, this book is very busy. The great thing about it is that it works. There is never a hiccup or confusing moment. The story is fast paced, red hot, and touches the heart in many ways. The characters are larger than life.

I would highly recommend Ice. It will not disappoint.

I am looking forward to the next book in the Regulators series.

Chelsea Camaron

Chelsea Camaron was born and raised in Coastal North Carolina. She currently resides in Southern Louisiana with her husband and two children but her heart is always Carolina day dreaming.

Chelsea always wanted to be a writer, but like most of us, let fear of the unknown grab a hold of her dream; she realized that if she was going to tell her daughter to go for her dreams, that it was time to follow her own advice.

Chelsea grew up turning wrenches alongside her father, and from that grew her love for old muscle cars and Harley Davidson motorcycles, which just so happened to inspired her ‘Daddy’s Girls’ series. Her love for reading has sparked a new love for writing and she currently has a few more projects in the works.

When she is not spending her days writing you can find her playing with her kids, attending car shows, going on motorcycle rides on the back of her husband’s Harley, snuggling down with her new favorite book or watching any movie that Vin Diesel might happen to be in.

She hates being serious and is still a big kid at heart. She is a small town country girl enjoying life and, Chelsea hopes that her readers remember not to take life too seriously and to embrace your inner five year old, because five year olds know how to enjoy the simple things in life and how to always have fun.
