Synopsis
BITTERSWEET (TRUE NORTH #1)
If you can’t stand the heat, get out of the orchard.
The last person Griffin Shipley expects to find stuck in a ditch on his Vermont country road is his ex-hookup. Five years ago they’d shared a couple of steamy nights together. But that was a lifetime ago.
At twenty-seven, Griff is now the accidental patriarch of his family farm. Even his enormous shoulders feel the strain of supporting his mother, three siblings and a dotty grandfather. He doesn’t have time for the sorority girl who’s shown up expecting to buy his harvest at half price.
Vermont was never in Audrey Kidder’s travel plans. Neither was Griff Shipley. But she needs a second chance with the restaurant conglomerate employing her. Okay—a fifth chance. And no self-righteous lumbersexual farmer will stand in her way.
They’re adversaries. They want entirely different things from life. Too bad their sexual chemistry is as hot as Audrey’s top secret enchilada sauce, and then some.

Michel’s Review
I suddenly have a craving for apples. I think it’s time to plan a road trip to Vermont. I will pull up the Google maps for the Shipley Farm and speed like an indie 500 racer to get there. I will purposely slash my tires just so Griff Shipley will come to my rescue ( hopefully shirtless). I want to meet that Farmboy!
Sarina Bowen has another fantastic book to add to her outstanding bibliography. Bittersweet is the first book in the True North series. It features a sexy apple farmer / award winning Vermont cider maker and a crazy adorable sority girl/hopeful chef. Head on down to the Shipley Apple Farm and let Griff and Audrey tell you their story. It’s guaranteed to make you laugh out loud, swoon with excitement, and get deliciously drunk on love (or off the apple cider tasting like sex).
Griff Shipley moved back to Vermont to run the Shipley Apple Farm after his father suddenly passed away three years ago. He gave up his professional football career to take care of his family and their heritage. He went from being an athlete to a farmer depending on mother nature. He has no regrets. He embraces his responsibilities with a sense of grace and determination. Farming is hard work that never ends. It’s a job that consumes every hour of the day, seven days a week. It is also a job that leaves a person with a great sense of pride and dignity.
When a blast from the past comes tearing down his driveway, he knows trouble has just rolled up. The trouble not only has flat tire but also has the sexiest legs he’s ever seen. Trouble is his old college hook-up, Audrey Kidder. Audrey was not known for her brains, stellar grades, or virtuous ways. In fact she flunked out of BU, flunked out of another college, and finally had to grow up. Now she’s a new chef hoping to get a lead kitchen position or her own restaurant. The only problem is that trouble seems to be her middle name. In order to keep her job with the big restaurant conglomerate she has to become the liaison between the farmers in Vermont and the company. She has to buy their produce at reduced costs or lose her job. It’s insulting all the way around.
Griff and Audrey are going to butt heads and bump uglies. Their attraction and draw to one another is overwhelming. They are headed in different directions and lead very different kinds of lives. Somewhere in the process of negotiating, sparring, and hooking up they are going to realize their worlds aren’t colliding, the are blending together like the perfect apples in the award winning apple cider.
Sarina Bowen is a gifted storyteller. Her characters come to life and jump off the pages. They have very distinct personalities that make the readers fall in love with them. Their interaction in and out of the bedroom is delightful, fun, witty, and engaging. The wonderful thing is that is not only the leading characters story. Sarina develops a world filled with colorful characters that not only support the main characters but also scream for a story of their own. I can’t wait to see what comes next for those sexy Vermont men.
