Excerpt

A photo of Sloane flashes on my television screen, and I scowl. I’m in no mood today, to hear reports about whatever woman he’s hooking up with—dating.

Aiming the remote to change the channel, I open my mouth to respond to Crowell, but…

But…

I drop the phone and the remote and get to my feet, hurrying to turn up the television’s volume. I don’t move, incredulous, and watching…

I watch…I watch my Sloane…

He’s…Gasps of breath escape me and I fall to my knees.

Sloane’s being taken away in handcuffs. The tickers scroll at the bottom of the screen at a rapid pace, almost too fast to read. They’re all about him. Me. Us.

The headline plastered beneath the reporter’s name is horrible. Superstar rocker, Sloane Mason, charged with the statutory rape of Houston native Georgiana McCall after she went to the authorities.

Shakes seize my body and I choke. My stomach turns and dizziness swirls through me. “Oh God! Oh God! Oh God!”

Sloane’s being arrested for…

The import of the scene being played out registers and I gag.

Wow! J. Kenner knocked it out of the park with the second book in the Stark International trilogy. This trilogy is by far my favorite in the Stark Series.

On My Knees by J. Kenner is the second book in the Stark International Trilogy. It should not be read as a stand alone novel. It is the sequel to Say My Name. This trilogy features Jackson Steele, a world renowned architect, and Sylvia Brooks, Damien Stark’s PA & Project Manager for the Cortez Resort Project.

Jackson and Sylvia have a history that ended badly when Sylvia chose to leave Jackson without explanation five years earlier. She not only broke her own heart but also left Jackson broken. When she asked that he not contact her in the future he respected her wishes, not only for self preservation but because he loved her that much. Five years of harboring a broken heart has left Jackson bitter. When the opportunity to work with the Stark Corporation presents itself he sees this as an opportunity to get revenge on Sylvia and Damien Stark. What starts out as a quest for revenge turns into a quest for love and redemption. Jackson is finally getting answers for why Sylvia left him and he finds he loves her even deeper than he thought. As far as his revenge on Damien Stark, it is a whole different animal altogether. It’s much more complicated than a business deal gone wrong. But for Sylvia, he is willing to put aside his hatred towards Damien and work on the project. This project ends up being more than he expected. It is an architect’s dream.

That is pretty much how Say My Name ended. Both Jackson and Sylvia are trying to make their relationship work. They have revealed some of their secrets and looked past the old hurts in their relationship.

On My Knees picks up where Say My Name left off. The Cortez project is beginning to come to life. Everything is running smoothly until Jackson gets arrested for attacking the movie producer Robert Cabot Reed. The result is Damien Stark firing him from the project. Damien’s reasons are much deeper than the arrest. Jackson revealed one of his dark secrets that infuriated Damien.

It would seem like this would put a huge kink in Sylvia and Jackson’s relationship but it does just the opposite. Even though their careers are colliding ,their relationship is much more important to them. They become even closer by talking things out, rationalizing their problems, and finding solutions to control their personal needs. They handled their weaknesses and pressure points by trusting and depending on one another.

Eventually Jackson is brought back on the Cortez Resort project but there are still problems that could keep this project from getting off the ground. The media has run with Jackson and Sylvia’s connection to the producer of a movie that Jackson wants killed. He hasn’t revealed his reasons but it is quite clear they are valid. Sylvia is trying to survive the dark past that Robert Cabot Reed caused. Damien Stark is being a complete dickhead. It seems like he is gunning for Jackson because of the secret he revealed. Still Jackson and Sylvia’s relationship is staying true and strong until Damien reveals a secret that could tear them apart. At the same time something underhanded is going on at Stark Industries. Someone is sabotaging the Cortez Project and it looks like it may be coming from within.

I could not put this book down. It really pulled the reader into the story and gave the reader more insight on who the characters really were. Sylvia is a strong woman with integrity. Jackson may be caring around a lot of secrets but all of his intentions are good and pure. He always puts Sylvia first. He is an honorable man and shows much more character strength than Damien Stark. I couldn’t help falling head over heels for Jackson Steele. As for Damien Stark, I was really beginning to hate the man , but he wouldn’t be where he is in the world if he was any other way (his story will change the readers view of him). I loved how J. Kenner let readers see the other side of Damien Stark and not let his powerful personality overshadow this trilogy.

J. Kenner has done a magnificent job with this trilogy thus far . It is able to stand apart from the first three books in the Stark Series. These characters shine. Their story is captivating. She didn’t let the characters from the previous books overshadow the leading characters in this part of the series. They have a fresh voice and unique story. I can’t wait for the final book , Under My Skin, releasing September 1, 2015,

Christi Snow has released another solid and highly entertaining romance in her Male Model Chronicles series. This series is based on real life cover models but their story is completely fictional. These guys are more than a pretty face with six pack abs. These guys have substance and heart.

Andi Kelly is a shy erotic romance author. Her specialty is BDSM and Bondage. Her current release revolves around mastering rope bondage. Although it would seem that she is quite the expert in erotism it couldn’t be further from the truth. She is extremely shy, is not over confident in her sexuality, and is close to being a shut in. Her sister deals with all of her PR work and business dealings.

Before I can blink, Dax’s huge, calloused hands are framing my face and his mouth brushes across mine. At first it’s just a whisper, a tease, the contact barely there. Then, I hear him inhale sharply and his lips press down forcefully, melding with mine, urging me to open up with quick flicks of his tongue. I melt against his solid body as he dominates the kiss, completely under his spell to do with as he wishes. It seems to go on and on—a small slice of paradise in this blighted spot of East London.

The first two books in the series cover the British members. Their stories span from their youth in the ghetto’s of London to the glamourous life in LA. Both of the British members could not wait to escape their lives in England but paid a high price to do so. They left behind the most important things in their lives. They left the women that owned their hearts. Both Dax and Adam have completely different circumstances and situations that led them to their present lives in the Sphere of Irony. Heather C. Leigh wrote another fantastic book in the Sphere of Irony series. I liked that the book was connected to the first book Incite but was also completely different. The connections kept the Sphere of Irony intertwined without giving spoilers to the first book. Each of the characters in the Sphere of Irony are completely different and each one has an interesting story. I really liked Dax’s story. He had life lessons that he had to learn to deal with and make his own. The one thing readers would never question is his love for Kate.

I highly recommend Strike and Incite, the first book in the Sphere of Irony series.

“Where the fuck have you been?” a man’s voice growled as soon as I entered the conference room.

My eyes flashed to his for only a single second before I recognized them. The door had barely clicked behind me but I already wanted nothing more than to bolt. My heart raced and my mouth dried.

I had to get out of there.

“Um…” I stalled, giving myself time to formulate a plan.

“Sit. Down,” he ordered, pushing out the chair next to him, but there was no way I was getting that close.

“I’m good,” I said, taking a step backwards toward the door.

“Don’t even think about it,” he snapped. “I swear to God, if you so much as open that door…” His words may have trailed off, but the threat was clearly stated.

I swallowed hard, and slowly walked to the chair farthest away from him, perching on the very edge—waiting for just the right moment to escape.

He looked down at the name badge around my neck and quirked an eyebrow.

“Victoria?”

“You can call me Tori if it’s easier.” I tried to fake a smile, but it only seemed to infuriate him. He took several calming breaths, which did nothing to dampen the blaze brewing in his angry eyes.

“I’ve been looking for you, Ash.” He snarled my name.

“Oh, yeah? Well, mystery solved. Here I am.” I pushed back to my feet, but was halted when his fist pounded against the table. I jumped as my whole body flinched from the surprise.

When the room fell silent, I slowly looked back up to find him staring at me with a murderous glare. Even sitting down I could tell he was huge, and as he held my gaze, the tense muscles in his neck and shoulders strained against the cotton of his grey Henley. He blinked at me for several seconds before finding his voice again.

“You live in a homeless shelter,” he stated definitively, as if the words told a story all of their own.

And maybe they did.

“I work at a homeless shelter,” I quickly corrected.

Only he corrected me just as fast. “In exchange for a permanent place to live…In. A. Homeless. Shelter.” He enunciated every single syllable.

I looked away, because it was the truth.

A truth that I hated.

But the God’s honest truth nonetheless.

Tears welled in my eyes and I battled to keep them at bay.

My life was hard, but him being there made it infinitely harder. If I could just escape that room, I could disappear again. It wasn’t ideal, but neither was him showing up.

“I want you to leave.” I lied with all the false courage I could muster.

“I can’t do that. You stole something of mine.”

“Look, I don’t have your book anymore.”

A knowing smirk lifted one side of his mouth. “Liar,” he whispered, reaching into the chair beside him, revealing the tattered book and ceremoniously dropping it on the table.

My eyes went wide, and without a conscious thought, I dove across the table after it.

That was mine.

Not even he could have it.

Just as quickly as the book appeared, he snatched it away and grabbed my wrist.

I slid off the table and tried to pull my arm from his grasp. It was a worthless attempt though because even if he had suddenly released me, his blue eyes held me frozen in place.

“Three fucking years,” he seethed.

“I had to,” I squeaked out as the tears streamed down my cheeks.

“Three. Fucking. Years, Ash. You took something that belonged to me.” He released my arm and pushed to his feet.

My mouth fell open and a loud gasp escaped as he took two impossible steps forward.

Pinning me against the wall with his hard body, he lifted a hand to my throat and glided it up until his thumb stroked over my bottom lip. Using my chin, he turned my head, and dragged his nose up my neck, stopping at my ear.

Sucking in a deep breath, he released it on a gravelly demand. “And I want her back.”

My breath hitched.

I’d waited years to hear those words.

If only I could have trusted them.

Their forbidden relationship was on a very destructive path that led to the ruin of both of them as individuals and as a couple. Follow Me Back is the aftermath and consequences from their helter skelter relationship.

Maxx Demelo is a drug addict. He has finally hit rock bottom. He overdosed and very nearly lost his life. Now he is dealing with the recourse of his addiction. He is also dealing with the loss of Aubrey and his relationship with his younger brother. He has destroyed everything good in his world. His overdose was a wake up call. He could not handle his life without the drugs. The drugs defined his art, his popularity, his persona, and his relationships. Now he is in rehab and facing the truth. He has not only destroyed himself but his loved ones as well. He sincerely wants to regain his life. He sincerely wants to end his addiction. He wants a relationship with his brother. Aubrey tried to resist Maxx but when she sees that he is really working on staying clean and sober it changes things. She allows herself to interact with Maxx. She allows herself to once again fall in love with him. The one thing she struggles with is her trust. She doesn’t know if she can ever trust him again. She is also facing some truths in her own life. She is facing her sister’s death, her bad relationship with her parents, and her own personal goals in life.

A. Meredith Walters did an amazing job writing this sequel. She did not sugar coat the realities of being a drug addict or co dependent. She allowed these characters to experience the pain, the hardship, and the realities in their lives. She also allowed these characters to grow as individuals and become stronger better people. She allowed them to face the truths and build a new life without ever forgetting their old lives.

I highly recommend the Twisted Love series by A. Meredith Walters. It is a reading experience that will touch the reader.

A. Meredith spent ten years as a counselor for at risk teens and children. First
working at a Domestic Violence/Sexual Assault program and then later a program
for children with severe emotional and mental health issues. Her former clients
