The Lying Hours by Sara Ney is another fantastic addition to her How To Date A Douchebag Series. This rom-com new adult series has become one of my favorites.

Unlike Sara’s Douchey heroes in the previous books of this series, her new hero, Abe Davis is not. He’s a good guy that would do anything for his friends and there lies the problem. He has been recruited by his best friend JB (the real douchebag) to find him a new girlfriend/ slash hookup after JB finds himself dumped by his last girlfriend. Abe has joined the school dating app trying to find JB the perfect girlfriend or at least one who likes sex and is not annoying. It’s his job to vet the women before JB dates them. Swiping left is easy, finding the perfect candidate not so much. When Abe finds the perfect match he knows he’s in trouble because he wants her for himself.

Skylar is different than most of her friends. She’s not interested in dating or hookups. She’s content to hang with the girls, have fun, and read her books. When her friends convince her to join the dating app she’s a bit leary but does it anyway. Talking to JB is fun, challenging, and she’s enjoying their banter. Meeting JB in person is a different story. He is a completely different guy, one she doesn’t like. He seems like a real douchebag. When she meets his roommate Abe she knows dating JB is all wrong for her. She likes Abe and wants him.

Sounds like a modern college coed “Cyrano De Bergerac” romance with a whole lot more snark and fun!

I loved The Lying Hours by Sara Ney and can’t wait for the next book after reading the epilogue.

The holidays are upon the inhabitants of Briar Creek, and Kara Hastings and her cookies and gingerbread houses are in big demand. Kara barely has time to do anything besides make all of the cookies, but her bakery is a labor of love, and she’s determined to make a go of it. Nate Griffin, in town to spend the holiday with his elderly aunt, knows a thing or two about business and life in the big city, but spending time relaxing, not so much. Life in Briar Creek is very far away from his normal, and getting in touch with small-town life and into the Christmas spirit will be good for him. And maybe, just maybe, spending time with Kara will be good for him, too…

I’m not going to lie, Christmas is one of my favorite times of the year. So while people are still getting excited about all things pumpkin, I’m looking forward to decking the halls and settling down with a nice cup of tea and a big pile of holiday books. Not that I want to speed by the rest of the autumn season, mind you, but there’s just something about Christmas that has always been extra-special to me. CHRISTMAS COMES TO MAIN STREET by author Olivia Miles is a perfect match for me right now, because it has all of the elements that make the idea of the holidays in a small, closely-knit community such the standard. Think IT’S A WONDERFUL LIFE, but moved forward to current day, with less of the angst and all of the feel-good moments.

I like Kara very much. Having lost her father at a young age, she’s spent much of her life trying to find her way. Opening her bakery is a way for her to honor her dad, and to feel his presence, and she is determined to prove the town nay-sayers wrong and make a real success of her new business. With Christmas just weeks away, Kara feels a little bit overwhelmed, so when Nate arrives, his head for business at the forefront even while on vacation, she’s happy to incorporate some of his ideas.

Nate is an interesting guy. For someone that has been judged so often over the course of his early life, he’s quick to form an opinion of Kara that could not be further from the truth. It doesn’t take much time for Briar Creek to work its magic on him, and, soon enough, Nate is finding that things are not necessarily as he thought. And when a friendly competition gets thrown into the mix, Nate and Kara will both be changed in more ways than they could have imagined.

CHRISTMAS COMES TO MAIN STREET is my first visit to Briar Creek, but it will not be my last. The characters, the small-town charm, the sense of family that is present throughout, makes this a series that I would like to see more of. 4 heartwarming, feel-good stars for this read. It’s time to start getting in the spirit, so add it to your TBR, grab your hot beverage of choice, and enjoy.

“Melinda, come back,” Sager called, his deep voice urgent. “Wait,” he insisted, his hands falling on my shoulders before I had a chance to press the elevator call button. My lids fluttered half closed remembering how good it had been in his bed. Those strong hands gliding over every inch of my naked skin. “I can’t,” I pleaded, my stomach cinched. “I need to go. I have a race in a couple of hours.”

“I heard you.” His tone was tender, but I could feel the tension rising in it. “I listened very closely to everything you said.”

“It’s late.” Three a.m. in fact. We had been together most of the night. I motioned with my chin toward the door to his hotel room that he had left propped open. “Let’s forget tonight ever happened. Like I told you it doesn’t mean anything.” –a lie lie lie –no guy had ever made me feel like he did, even before I slept with him.

“Bullshit,” he decided, unwaveringly certain. “You might say you only slept with me to make Dizzy jealous, but I don’t believe that’s it. Don’t try to tell me you didn’t feel the same connection I did. It wasn’t him in that bed with you tonight. It was just you and me. And that’s the way it has to be from now on. I won’t share you with anyone else. You get me?” He gathered my hands and brought them to his chest. I could feel his heart racing. His thumbs lightly circled the delicate skin on the inside of my wrists. My pulse leapt to his touch. “Don’t be afraid, Melinda,” he whispered.

“I’m not scared.” Another lie. I was terrified of the intensity of the emotions surging through me, emotions he seemed to effortlessly command.

“I think that you are. You bolted for the door as soon as things got intense.” His dark eyes delved piercingly deep. “You’ve got to know that no matter how angry I get I could never hurt you.”

“I know,” I whispered back.

Fans of The Wicked Horse Series by Sawyer Bennett have been waiting for Wicked Bond to release. Throughout the series the readers have gotten to know Bridger Payne in many ways. We’ve seen how loyal he is to those he cares about.While he is so giving to others, he keeps himself withdrawn into himself. In many ways the man is a complete enigma. Wicked Bond is his story and it’s a doozy.

After witnessing his friends and close colleagues pulling away from the Silo, he’s beginning to question his own place in the kinky club he created. While he understands his depravities and needs, he also longs for something he knows he will never be able to have. That was destroyed within him long ago.

When a biker friend drops off an unconscious woman for protection, Bridger is put in a perilous position. As her story unfolds and the abuse she has gone through matches his own, Bridger has found his true soulmate. Can he let go of his demons and give his heart to this woman?

Not only does Bridger have to let go of his demons, he has to look at himself in the mirror and see the good man he has become.

Sawyer Bennett pull out all the stops and whistles with this book. Not only was it extremely sexual, it was extremely emotional. She killed me when Maggie and Bridger’s world imploded. The aftermath was so heartbreaking not only for Bridger and Maggie but also characters from another series.

Wicked Bond is the best book in the series.

The Wind Dragons MC by Chantal Fernando is becoming one of my favorite series. I devour each book the day it releases. I have been looking forward to Wolf’s Mate because it was Vinnie’s book. Vinnie was the young prospect we met in the very first book. He has been the designated protector of the Wind Dragon old ladies throughout the series. It’s time for Vinnie to get an old lady of his own.

Other than his interaction within the club and the old ladies, readers have not been introduced to the real Vinnie. Vinnie was brought up in the foster care system. He never had a family until he joined the Wind Dragons. They taught him loyalty, honor, love, and brotherhood. He would do anything for his family, including protecting a woman related to the Wild Men MC. He owes the president a marker. He is a man of honor and makes good to his word. He had been enlisted to protect Talon’s cousin, Shayla.

Shayla is hidden away and under twenty four hour protection. Her father was an accountant for the mob. He was arrested and is turning over vital information. He has damning evidence. His betrayal has left Shay in danger. There’s are mark on Shay. Shay wasn’t involved, she’s just collateral.

“You need to leave,” I declared.

His brows drew together a moment before his expression showed clearly that comprehension had dawned.

Sadly, comprehension might have dawned but he didn’t leave.

He crouched by the bed and offered in a soft voice, “You need me to carry you to the other room so you can have a bit of privacy?”

Dear goddess.

He thought I needed a chamber pot.

But…

What was happening to my face?

Dear goddess!

The heat I felt in my cheeks could be nothing other than me blushing.

I didn’t blush. I’d never blushed. Not even when I’d set about seducing my first lover at age sixteen.

I needed to be quit of this man as soon as possible.

“No…I…do…not,” I bit out.

“Sure?” he asked kindly.

“I need you to leave, Noctorno,” I used his full name in an effort to irritate, something that worked if the flare in his eyes was any indication, “so Josette can prepare me. We’re away to Kristian’s this morning.”

“After my toilette, Josette and I are to my sleigh so we can begin our journey to my brother’s home.”

His eyes got bigger as his mouth inquired peculiarly, “Are you high?”

“No,” I answered his ridiculous question unnecessarily, “Indeed, I’m low. As you can see since I’m lying abed.”

For a second he just stared at me.

Then he threw his head back and burst into loud, deep, beautiful laughter.

I wanted to throw something at him.

Unfortunately, in my current position, this was not an option open to me.

“I fail to see what’s amusing,” I noted.

He controlled his mirth only to mutter, “I’ll explain it later.” He went on more distinctly, “Frannie, you’re not goin’ to your brother’s today. Or tomorrow. Or until you’re fit. Then, maybe Valentine will spirit you there, or whatever the fuck that’s called. But for the foreseeable future, your ass is in that bed and you’re resting so you can heal.”

Well!

Who did he think he was, telling me what I would or would not do?

“As you’ve determined,” I began, “this is not the first time I’ve been in this condition so I do believe that I know best what I’m capable of and…”

I stopped speaking because he came slightly out of his crouch so he could put his face into my face and he was no longer looking mirthful.

He was looking angry.

Very angry.

“That was when you had no one lookin’ out for you but that’s not the case anymore. So this is how it’s gonna be,” he announced.

He then, to my shock, irritation and outrage, announced how it was going to be.

Like he had the right to tell me how it was going to be!

Every summer I make it a goal to read a few series that I haven’t had time to get to. One of those series was the Fantasyland Series by Kristen Ashley. Although I am a huge Kristen Ashley fan, I am not really into fantasy romance. I have to be in the “mood” to read this type of book. Summer was the perfect time for me to dive into this series and give it my full attention. Once again Kristen Ashley wowed me with her vivid imagination, her sexy alpha men, quirky capable women, sizzling hot romance with a touch of humor, and an entertaining story. The Fantasyland Series had a bonus, it had a special blend of magic and mystique in two parallel worlds.

Midnight Soul should not be read as a stand alone in this series. It is the grand finale.

As I have said many times before, Kristen Ashley is the bomb! Once again she has taken a character that readers disliked and turned their hearts. Kristen Ashley gave Franka Drakkar a complete makeover. Readers got a glimpse into the real woman beneath the facade. A woman with vulnerabilities,extreme loyalties, monumental insecurities,and a big heart waiting to be given. Only a man like Noctorno Hawthorne could see beneath the surface and see the beautifull soul buried deep within.

After the mega showdown and resolutions, Franka is in a different place. She is transitioning into a new life with the possibilities of new friendships, relationships, and life experiences. She’s a bit lost because her life has completely changed and she’s not on solid footing. Noc can see her internal struggles and offers friendship. He introduces her to his world, the modern parallel world that leaves her with wonder and curiosity.

This newly found friendship leads Franka on a new adventure, an adventure of the heart. Together Noc and Franka are going to discover the best of both worlds and the true meaning of happily ever after.

As most Kristen Ashley fans know, Kristen is the queen of happily ever afters that are told through epic epilogues.

I am happy that I opened my mind and embraced the Fantasyland series. It was a reading adventure with Kristen Ashley magic.

I highly recommend the Fantasyland Series.

“No,” I answered his ridiculous question unnecessarily, “Indeed, I’m low. As you can see since I’m lying abed.”

For a second he just stared at me.

He then, to my shock, irritation and outrage, announced how it was going to be.

Like he had the right to tell me how it was going to be!
