Graham Gallagher had never craved a cigarette as much as he did just then. It didn’t matter that he’d quit smoking over fifteen years ago cold turkey and hadn’t picked one up since then. He just wanted a damn smoke.

He ran a hand through his dark hair and grimaced as he caught some tangles as he pulled it out of the rubber band. He wasn’t sure he’d brushed it that morning, instead just throwing it up in a tie at the back of his head as soon as he’d gotten out of the shower. At least he’d showered, he thought. Considering he’d slept for shit the night before, a shower after sweat-slick dreams had been the only recourse. He quickly ran his hand through it a few more times, getting out most of the rat’s nest and pulled it back up before the owner of their new project showed up and called him a heathen.

Graham sighed, sliding his hand over his beard to straighten it out. Since it had grown past his chin and almost touched his chest if he lowered his head just right, he already looked the part of a heathen to some. Add in the ink covering his body and the piercings only those in his bed could see, he didn’t fit the ideal image of a business man that someone of this caliber would want to work with.

And that was just find with him.

“That bad?” Griffin asked, holding out a coffee cup. “I think I remember you having sugar and cream in your coffee at Taboo. I don’t have fresh cream so you’re stuck with the powered stuff. Sorry.”

She took the cup that looked clean and full of fresh coffee from him. He raised a brow then took a deep drink from his mug after blowing on it.

“Ahh…” he whispered into his cup, looking down at his coffee like it was made from the gods, rather than a machine. “I don’t have anything in this house most days, but I always have coffee. “But what if she needs help?” Wes asked, his gaze on Tabby. Again, Autumn would have thought that look meant something more at one point, but now she saw the same type of brotherly worry there he had for Meghan, Maya, and Miranda.

“Then she’ll ask for it,” Autumn said simply. Just because she didn’t know how to ask for help, didn’t mean that was the case for most people. “Tabby seems like she trusts you guys enough to ask for help if she needs it. Now I’m freaking freezing. Can we please go? Or are we going to stand here and look like sad puppies while the lovebirds make out some more and Tabby ends up alone and warm at Taboo eating all the food?”

The twins huffed then did that chin tilt thing once again before heading off to their vehicles. Since Autumn had ridden in with Meghan, she jumped in the back seat of the truck, knowing Luc would rather sit up front. He wasn’t quite cleared to drive yet since his shoulder was still technically healing, and Autumn knew that bugged him to no end. Hence why she didn’t tease him. She wasn’t sure she would ever be able to get the image of him lying pale on the ground in a pool of his own blood out of her brain; no matter how hard she tried.

Though perhaps that was a good thing.

It was a stark reminder that no matter how hard someone tried, their past could return with a vengeance and hurt those around them. That’s why it was a good idea to never get too close.

She pressed her lips together as Meghan drove them to Taboo. It would do Autumn well to remember not to get too close. Or at least not get closer than she already had. She knew the others wondered about her and had probably figured out that she was always vague when she talked about what she did and why she was in Denver. It wasn’t as if she could actually tell them, but it was starting to wear on her that she couldn’t say anything.

The echoes of helicopter blades chopping into the wind came closer with each passing breath. Brynn Brentwood fisted her hands at her sides, knowing there was nowhere to run, nowhere to hide.

Holiday, Montana, is a small town that is filled with folks that are touched with magic, and some that are not. Jackson Cooper, the eldest of the Cooper men, hates magic. Like, absolutely loathes it, and wants nothing to do with it. Which is problematic, because all of his brothers and their families are magical in some way. Enter Honor Bridges. Honor’s Aunt Clementine is the Queen of the Tooth Fairies, and Honor is a tooth fairy herself. She and Jackson have a past, which refuses to stay buried when she returns to Holiday. Although they try to deny that the spark is still there, it comes roaring to life, stronger than ever. And when Honor becomes the target of someone intent on keeping her from doing her magical duty, things get messy and very dangerous.

 

It’s no secret that I really like paranormal romance. And, when it’s a really neat idea, well-executed, with great characters and an engaging plot, I am a happy lady. ‘Dreams of Ivory’ hits every one of these marks. The plot flows nicely, and, even though I hadn’t read any of the previous books in the series, there was plenty of back story that filled in the gaps. The chemistry between Jackson and Honor is super-hot, making for some very steamy scenes. And all of the secondary characters, from Honor’s aunt,to Sam the Sandman, to all of the Coopers, wives of Coopers, and mini Coopers, are wonderful. I couldn’t have asked for a better introduction to the world of Holiday, and have every intention of going back to the beginning of the series so that I can meet all of the inhabitants of Holiday. Happily, too, even though ‘Dreams of Ivory’ is the last of the ‘Holiday, Montana’ books, Carrie Ann will be introducing an off-shoot of the series in 2016, which I am very much looking forward to.
