We’ll be in the middle of the holiday season before we know it. Soon enough it will be all hustle and bustle, so making time to read books that remind me of the finer things about this time of year is a must. LOVE ME BY CHRISTMAS by author Jaci Burton is just my second seasonal read this year, and it’s a lovely addition to my holiday catalog.

In the five years following the death of Ellie’s husband, John, she has come to rely on his brother, Nick, for pretty much everything. Nick completely stepped up to be the man that Ellie needed in her life, being a friend, a co-parent, and a source of support. They’ve been the best of friends, but, lately, Ellie’s feelings towards Nick are different, and she’s conflicted. She’s grateful for all that Nick has done to give her and her son, Henry, a normal life, but thinking of him as anything more than her brother-in-law is throwing her for a loop. Funny thing, though, because Nick is having some more than brotherly feelings himself, and he’s ready to go all in.

I really enjoyed the comfortable relationship between Ellie and Nick, and the life that they’d created, but, while I understood her reservations about taking things to another level, I think that she made it harder than it had to be. They had already been a couple in every way except taking the step to move beyond friendship to something more. Her concern over what other people would think about them acting on their feelings was frustrating, although somewhat understandable, but I have to admit that I was ready to shake some sense into her by the time she figured things out.

LOVE ME BY CHRISTMAS is both sweet and passionate, with just the right amount of heat. Jaci’s focus on the importance of family and friendship is perfect for the time of year, and made this a 4-star read that is perfect for those looking for a feel-good story with a HEA.

It had been tempting to watch her for a little bit longer. Everything about Darcy was so expressive that even though Ben hadn’t heard one word of her exchange with the security guard, he had been able to imagine the entire conversation based on the look on her face.

It was highly entertaining.

“What are you doing here?” she asked, her expression one of total confusion.

“Savannah called me and told me you weren’t able to get on a flight. So here I am,” he said, offering her a small smile.

She frowned.

Seriously? Even when he came to save her, she was still pissed at him?

“What if I had gotten on a flight between the time Savannah called you and the time you got to the airport?”

He shrugged. “Then I would have made a very perilous trip for nothing. I would have gotten here sooner, but people don’t know how to drive in the snow. I passed a bunch of accidents.”

“You could have been one of them.”

Another shrug. “I have a truck that happens to be exceptional in the snow, and I’m used to driving in it. It wasn’t a big deal. You need to drive slowly, and you’ll be all right.”

Darcy looked around and made a noncommittal sound. “So you just got here, huh?”

“No, I’ve been here for a while. I couldn’t get past security, and it took some time to page you. I tried calling you several times, but I kept getting a message that all circuits were busy. I guess with the storm moving in and all.” He paused and gave her a lopsided grin. “Anyway, I saw you when you were on the escalator, but you didn’t see me.”

“There’s, like, a million people here,” she said with a hint of sarcasm. “And I wasn’t looking for, well, you.”

He frowned at her tone. “What did you think you were coming here for?”

“Honestly? I thought my brother had been able to charter a plane for me.”

He couldn’t help but chuckle. “Sorry to disappoint you. But the only charter you have is me—in the form of a truck and a trip back to the lake.”

“Oh. So I guess I’ll get a room at the hotel,” she said, and he noticed she wouldn’t look directly at him.

“I just planned on bringing you to the cabin until the storm is over and flights are back to normal. It won’t be more than a couple of days. No need for you to have to go to a hotel or anything.”

Now she did look at him. “No, really, it’s okay. I’d prefer to go to the hotel.”

She was looking at him with a hint of defiance, and he figured he’d let her have her way for now. The sooner they got on the road, the better. There was already a very real possibility they weren’t going to get home until after dark. It would be pointless to drag this out.

“That’s fine. No problem.” He motioned toward her suitcase. “I’ll take that for you. Let’s get going.”

“Oh.”

Ben could hear the relief in her voice and smiled to himself. For right now, he was happy to have a truce with her. They had a long drive ahead of them, and he’d rather it be peaceful rather than tense and awkward.

He waited while she pulled her coat out and got herself together, and then they made their way out to the parking garage. The traffic was insane, and he prayed it wasn’t going to be as bad as he was fearing.

It was.

And it was tense and awkward.

Are getting ready for the holiday season? Are you jump starting the festive decorating and shopping madness?  Here’s another thing to add to your pre holiday to do list.  Read Mistletoe Games by Jaci Burton.  Nobody does the holiday’s better than Jaci and her teams of hunky professional athletes.

Holiday Games and Holiday On Ice were previously released in the past few holiday seasons.  Both these novella’s celebrated the joy of the season, the importance of loved ones, and new beginnings.  I thoroughly enjoyed these novella’s and would highly recommend them to readers looking for the holiday spirit.

The latest holiday novella added to the collection, Hot Holiday Nights is exactly as the title implies.  Get ready for one hot sports agent spending her holiday with two hunky surfers.  This book will make your egg nog boil and icicles melt.  This sexy novella allows one woman to live out her fantasies over a holiday break in Hawaii.  A sexy Christmas fling is just what Santa ordered.

The holiday season is quickly coming upon us.  Retailers are gearing up for the holiday rush.  Publishers and authors are also gearing up to give their readers some holiday romance in the hectic holiday season.  Cat Johnson, Kate Angell, and Allyson Charles came together and created three holiday novellas based around a mutual theme.  Three women find themselves alone during the holiday season.  Rather than getting down about it or feeling like they have let their families down, they become proactive and get the Build A Boyfriend app.  This app provides the perfect boyfriend without having a physical body present.  It’s the perfect cover and perfect solution.  Each woman is in for a surprise.  The Build A Boyfriend app is more than an app, it’s a reality.  It brings each woman the perfect man for her in the holiday season.

I absolutely loved Hit or Mistletoe.  It was a fun holiday read.  The dialogue was witty, the characters had snarky perfection, the chemistry between Pratt and London was so hot it could melt the snow.  Their holiday romance lit up the holidays.  And of course, they had to struggle, fight, insult each other before the kiss under the mistletoe.  A very merry holiday romance!  Thanks for the ARC copy!
