Hooked

A Stepbrother Romance

By Iris Parker

Synopsis

Thirteen years as a rugby superstar.
Thirteen years of winning streaks, of making more money than I’ve known how to spend, of women throwing themselves at me.
Thirteen years since I last saw Emilia, knowing she has every right to hate me, her so-called stepbrother.
Thirteen years knowing I ruined her life and left without looking back.
Or so she thinks.

Money can’t buy forgiveness, but at least it can get my foot in the door.

Hooked is a full-length standalone romance with no cliffhanger and a HEA.

Tracey’s Review

Absence doesn’t always make the heart grow fonder. When you’ve made someone’s life a living hell, they’re usually not happy when you turn up again…

Once an angry kid bent on making everyone else as unhappy as he was, Simon is now a professional footballer (rugby player). Embarrassed by his treatment of his step-sister, and more than a little enamored of her, he’s returned home to make amends. But when Emilia learns who the benefactor of the community youth center is, she wants no part of him. It’s taken years for Emilia to put aside Simon’s callous treatment of her, and only now is she secure in who she is and what she’s doing with her life. She’s not about to forgive and forget so that Simon can feel better about himself. But this is not the Simon that she remembers and dislikes. Determined to change her mind, he is set on making her see that he’s changed, and sparks are soon flying between them.

I enjoy reads about forbidden or secret relationships, so HOOKED worked for me. I actually liked Simon, and could appreciate how important it was to show Emilia how much he had grown and how much he cared for her. Not only was he super-hot and a genuinely nice guy now, he was pretty darned philanthropic. Once her initial lingering dislike was dealt with, Emilia was able to see Simon for how he was now, and to form a new relationship with him.

This was a steady read, with plenty of heat and heart. It’s an easy 3.5 stars for me, and I would recommend it for fans of sports and/or ‘secret love’ books. I look forward to reading more by Iris Parker in the future.

Author Bio:

Iris Parker loves a good glass of red wine and goat cheese on a summer evening almost as much as she loves writing about:

– smoking hot heroes with dominant streaks, strong hands and amazing backsides.
– compelling heroines who make their blood run hot.

Look for Iris Parker’s regular releases of steamy novels.
