The Billionaire’s Favorite Mistake

A Billionaire and Bridesmaid Novel

By Jessica Clare

Release Date: June 21, 2016

Buy: Amazon / B & N / ITunes / Kobo

Synopsis:

A hot one night stand between friends might spark true love in the latest Billionaires and Bridesmaids novel from the New York Times bestselling author of Billionaire Takes a Bride.

Greer has always been there for Asher, but she wishes she could break through her shyness and show how much she truly loves him. But after a steamy, mindless fling at Hunter and Gretchen’s engagement party, Greer finds herself tossed aside and forced to admit that you can’t love someone who doesn’t acknowledge you exist.

It’s a shame he got her pregnant.

After his fiancée betrayed him and tanked his business in one fell swoop, Asher has spent his time trying to rebuild his wealth and forget the past. But he doesn’t understand why Greer blew him off after their night together—until he catches a glimpse of her belly.

Now Asher is willing to do whatever it takes to convince Greer she belongs with him. And he’s very skilled at the art of persuasion.

When the group started to disperse into partying again, he got out of his chair and moved toward Greer’s table, stalking her. He saw her heading off with one of the waitstaff and jogged to catch up. “Greer!”

She turned and her face paled at the sight of him. Her mouth firmed into an angry line of distaste, and then she picked up her skirts and continued to walk away.

Yeah, he was definitely on the shit list.

That didn’t deter him, though. Asher headed after her, following her into the house and catching up despite her efforts to hurry. “Hey, wait up. I think we need to talk.”

“I have nothing to say to you, Asher.” She didn’t turn to look at him.

He reached out and clasped her arm, noting how warm her skin was, and how soft. And damn it all if he didn’t start to get another inappropriate boner. His body really needed to learn to calm the fuck down. “Just give me five minutes of your time, all right? Then I’ll leave you alone.”

She exchanged a look with the waitress, and then nodded at her. “I’ll be inside in a minute. Go ahead.” When the woman left, Greer sighed and turned back to him, smoothing a stray lock of hair back behind her ear. “What is it, Asher? I’m very busy tonight with the party.”

“I can imagine. This is a terrific party. I should have known you were behind it.” He knew she’d done weddings for some top-notch clients in New York and always took her job extremely seriously. Of course she’d put on a spectacular party for her father. “Listen. I feel like the last time we saw each other, we . . . well, we fucked up.”

Her eyebrows went up.

Shit. That was apparently the wrong thing to say. “I mean, it was a fuckup, but not that fucking you was a mistake.” God, where was his suaveness when he needed it? Why was he all diarrhea of the mouth when it came to Greer? He could sweet talk anyone, but the moment he came close to her, he babbled like a schoolboy. “Not that I think we should have fucked, of course. We’re friends, and friends don’t sleep with each other. Not if they want to stay friends. And you’ve been avoiding me. We haven’t had our Mondays in the last few months.”

“No, we haven’t.”

“It doesn’t have to be Mondays, you know. It can be any other day. Or it doesn’t have to be lunch. It can be anytime you need it to be if your schedule is all screwed.” He frowned to himself. “I should probably stop saying the word screwed, shouldn’t I?”

Her arms crossed over her chest, pressing her dress tighter against her body. “Is this conversation going somewhere, Asher? Like I said, I’m very busy tonight.”

Greer’s tits looked magnificent in that dress, he realized. They’d been small, perfect handfuls the night they’d slept together and now they seemed . . . doubly abundant. “Did you get a boob job?”

Her eyes narrowed imperceptibly. “I need to go.”

Fuck, why did he say that? “Sorry. It’s none of my business. Listen.” He reached out and grabbed her elbow when she turned to leave, stopping her. “The reason why I wanted to talk to you tonight is because I was behaving like an ass that night. I was drunk and I wasn’t myself. I was just lost in misery and in booze, and if I’d been thinking straight, I would have never dragged you off to the gardens and slept with you.” And damn if that didn’t sound all wrong, too. “Not because you’re not attractive, Greer. You are.”

“You’re not winning me over, Asher.” Her voice sounded hard. “Did you truly come to this party just to tell me that you find me repulsive and you wouldn’t have slept with me if you were sober?”

“What? No, that’s not what I meant at all. You’re hot. I mean, hell, you look smoking hot in that dress tonight.” She was all lush curves, which was surprising given that his memories of her were of her daintiness. But her body had changed in the last couple of months. And something about that was bothering him. “I just . . . don’t think we should have done that. As friends.”

“On that, I agree completely. May I go now?”

Why wasn’t she thawing toward him? He remembered Greer as all soft, shy smiles for him. They’d been friends, good friends. The cool, remote stranger in front of him . . . well, it reminded him of Stijn and the politely disinterested-because-you-are-dirt-to-me expression he wore at all times. “I just . . . you’re a good friend and I don’t want to lose you.”

“We can’t change what happened, Asher.” She hadn’t thawed an inch. One of the waitstaff moved nearby with an enormous cake, and she delicately sidestepped on the path to allow them more room. As she did, the long hem of her skirt got caught in a nearby bush and pulled taut against her body, outlining a slightly rounded stomach.

Asher’s eyes widened as realization struck him. “Greer . . . are you pregnant?”

She bit her lip and averted her gaze.

Oh fuck. She was pregnant.
“Is it . . . Is it mine?”

She looked back up again. Her eyes narrowed. She crooked her finger at him, indicating he should lean down. He did—

—And she delivered a ringing slap to his face.

Greer smiled and approached, keeping her hands at her side so she didn’t hide the fantastic low cleavage of her dress. If she knew anything about men, it was that they could be diverted from anything with a nice pair of boobs.

As if determined to prove her theory right, Asher paused mid-conversation and stepped to the side, directly in her path. “Greer?”

“Hi, Asher.” Her voice was breathless with excitement. He was here. He was here and he was noticing her. In fact, she was pretty sure he was staring at her, hard.

“You look . . . different.” His voice was low, sexy.

Yes! He was noticing! Oh crap, what should she say to pull him away from the others? He had a mask slung in one hand and a drink in the other. “What’s your costume?”

“Pimp daddy,” one guy said, and the men around him guffawed.

Asher turned away from Greer and slugged a guy in the shoulder. “Fuck off, guys. This is Greer. She’s like a little sister to me.”

Her nostrils flared with irritation. Little sister? Really? Did he not see her tits hanging out of this fucking skimpy dress? But then the men started laughing and talking over each other all at once, and she nearly screamed with frustration. She needed to get him away from the group of ex–frat boys if she was ever going to get a word in edgewise. Time to use her nonexistent wiles.

When Asher turned back to a guy telling a story, she moved forward and leaned in, pushing her breasts against Asher’s arm. That got his attention. He looked down at her, and she was short, which meant he had a fantastic view of her cleavage. She was pleased when his gaze stuck there, and he downed the rest of his drink, ignoring his chatty friend.

“Can we go someplace private and catch up, Asher?” Sure, they had lunch last week, but maybe there’d be some catching up to do between now and then, right?

He nodded, transfixed by her cleavage, and handed his empty glass to a passing server, grabbing a fresh one. “You lead the way.”

Perfect.

Last Hit

Hitman Series – Book 1

By Jessica Clare and Jen Frederick

Synopsis

rom two bestselling authors—the first in a deliciously bold new series that takes readers to the most dangerous edge of desire . . .

Nikolai: I have been a contract killer since I was a boy. For years I savored the fear caused by my name, the trembling at the sight of my tattoos. The stars on my knees, the marks on my fingers, the dagger in my neck, all spoke of danger. If you saw my eyes, it was the last vision you’d have. I have ever been the hunter, never the prey. With her, I am the mark and I am ready to lie down and let her capture me. Opening my small, scarred heart to her brings out my enemies. I will carry out one last hit, but if they hurt her, I will bring the world down around their ears.

Daisy: I’ve been sheltered from the outside world all my life. Home-schooled and farm-raised, I’m so naive that my best friend calls me Pollyanna. I like to believe the best about people. Nikolai is part of this new life, and he’s terrifying to me. Not because his eyes are cold or my friend warns me away from him, but because he’s the only man who has ever seen the real me beneath the awkwardness. With him, my heart is at risk . . . and also, my life.

Michel’s Review

Last Hit is the first book in the phenomenal Hitman Series by Jessica Clare and Jen Frederick.  This book was originally self published and has now become part of the Penguin Publishing .  It has an updated cover and is available in paperback.  Readers will be able to go into their favorite book store and see this book sitting upon it’s shelves.

I originally read this book when it first released over a year ago.  I was mesmerized by the characters and their story.  I could not forget them.  When I was given the opportunity to reread and review this book I jumped on it.

Daisy has lived a very sheltered life.  Her father has let his fears take over their lives.  After her mother was killed by a violent crime her father went off the deep end.  He became fearful of society and paranoid about everything outside of his home.  He now suffers from agoraphobia.  He has kept Daisy locked inside the four walls of their home.  The only time she is allowed to leave is to shop for food and take care of matters outside the home.  Her time away from home is regulated and censored.  Daisy has patiently scrimped, saved, and plotted her escape.  The day has come and she is running away to attend college and make a life for herself.  She is naive, innocent, frightened, and brave.

Nikolai has been a contract killer since he was a boy.  He started with the Russian mafia and is now an independent contractor.  He is cold, emotionless, calculated, and untouchable.  He’s ready to leave the world he knows behind but he has to complete his last job.  It is will be his Last Hit.  In preparation for this last hit, he holes up in an unassuming apartment where he can remain anonymous.  He can get the job done and disappear.  That is his goal until he discovers the beauty in the apartment building across from him.  As he watches this beauty from his window, day in and day out, he becomes mesmerized by her beauty, simplicity, innocence, and resilience.  He can clearly see that she has many things in common with his lonely existence.

When Nick and Daisy finally meet face to face they are drawn together.  They are learning to live and love.  Can they find a true happiness together ? Both want it desperately but first Nick will have to complete the Last Hit.

Once the job is completed he plans to live his life with Daisy.  But the job does not want to let him go.  His past comes knocking on their door.  The only thing that seems clear in both Nick and Daisy’s future is death.

I will not say much more.  This book is loaded with action that will keep the reader on the edge of their seats.  It is also loaded with a heart warming romance that leads to an all consuming red hot love.

Jessica Clare and Jen Frederick are both fantastic writers.  Their individual works have captured the readers attention.  Together they have created a phenomenal unforgettable series.  The Hitman Series will not disappoint.

Last Hit started it all.  Will these characters survive or die?  Read the book!

Naomi: When I was kidnapped I thought only of survival. I don’t thrive well in chaos. That’s why I gave my captors exactly what they wanted: my skill with computers. Making millions for a crime lord who kept me imprisoned in his basement compound kept my family safe. When he was taken out, I thought my ticket to freedom had arrived. Wrong. I traded one keeper for another. This time I’m in the hands of a scarred, dark, demanding Russian who happens to be the head of the Bratva, a Russian crime organization. last hit reloaded teaser 2

Whatever it was, the women in my classes steer clear of me.

I can’t blame Nick. He wants to keep me safe, and I love him for it. After my kidnapping last year by Yuri and Vasily, I don’t mind his hovering. It makes me feel secure, even if it chases away any chance of friendship with “regular” people.

As I swipe my iPad and open the text to the class’s lesson, I tell myself that these things don’t matter. That the approval of my peers does not matter to me. I have Nick, and that should be everything.

But in some ways, not having any girlfriends to chat with makes me feel as if I am still that isolated young woman living in a boarded-up house with my father. I had no friends then, either. And funnily enough, I thought that friends and life would come easily once I escaped his house. And while Nick blazed his way into my life like a comet and paved a path for me, I still struggle with everyday things.

Like small talk. I never realized how much of a favor my friend Regan did me when she took me under her wing. But now Regan’s in Texas and I’m having to figure things out on my own.

Michel’s Review

The Hitman Series by Jessica Clare and Jen Frederick is one not to miss!  The first two books in the series were solid 5 + Star Books.  The intensity of The Hitman Series had me on the edge of my seat.  The Hitman series is not only an intense and highly action packed  series, it is also seductive and alluring.  The passionate romance between the jaded assassins and the guileless innocent women will have the readers squirming and swooning.  Their stories are unforgettable. Their passion is explosive.  Their world is unpredictable and will never be completely safe.

Last Hit: Reloaded is a continuation of Nick and Daisy’s passionate story.  It should not be read as a stand alone novel.  Read the book Last Hit, book one in the series, before reading Last Hit: Reloaded.

Nick and Daisy have found a love they never could of possibly dreamed of experiencing in their lifetime.  It is an all consuming and passionate relationship.  They are striving to have a normal life.  Neither Nick or Daisy know what normal is.

Nick has been an assassin since he was a boy. He has learned from his experience in the Russian Mafia to stay unattached.  He has lived his life as a loner until he met Daisy. He is still constantly looking over his shoulder.  He trusts no one. He is trying to become a part of society and find a new place for himself in the world.  He is attending college, pursuing his art, and becoming a jack of all trades. He wants to make a good life for Daisy.  He will do whatever he can to make her happy.  He will even allow new people in their lives so that Daisy feels like she is normal.

Daisy walked away from an abusive and sheltered home life.  She has never attended school, been exposed to the outside world, and certainly never had a social life. Her world was censored and filtered.  She has no concept of life in the real world.  She is attending college, exploring new hobbies, and trying to be the perfect woman for Nick.  She is also desperate for the things that normal life entails.  One of those things is the desire for friendships and companionship outside her relationship with Nick.

These two socially inept people will struggle with life outside of their home and outside of their relationship.  They will both have to make changes within themselves as well as in the life they have started to build. It will be a whole new eye opening experience for both of them.  Can they hold onto their passionate relationship and blend in the real world?  It is worth their best efforts.

They will meet some questionable people.  They will make some tremendous mistakes that prove how socially inept they are.  They will find that the past they have fought so hard to leave behind is knocking on their door.  Will they find the perfect balance they need in their lives?  Daisy is too trusting.  Nick does not trust enough.  Both are right and both are wrong.

This is a must read series! Nick and Daisy will capture your heart.  Their story is intense.

Last Breath is the second book in this series. It  features Nick’s only confidant and Daisy’s only friend.  It has to be read after Last Hit because of the circumstances of their story.

Jessica Clare and Jen Frederick have created an extraordinary action packed series.  The chemistry, sexual tension, and passion between the characters is riveting.  The Hitman Series is explosive!

Synopsis

The New Billionaire Boys Club novel by the New York Times bestselling author.

The Billionaire Boys Club is a secret society. Six men of astonishing wealth. But there’s one thing money can’t buy. When it comes to love, success doesn’t come so easily…

Jonathan Lyons. Playboy, billionaire, and adventurer, he lives life on the edge. When he hears that his mentor, Dr. Phineas DeWitt, had a secret journal that leads to a legendary artifact, Jonathan takes action. It stirs his blood, but it comes with a heady challenge: DeWitt’s daughter Violet. She has what Jonathan needs. And she’s not giving it up it to the man who broke her heart.

Violet is Jonathan’s weakness—he’s still in love despite their volatile breakup a decade ago. But Violet’s memories have a sharper edge. She’s never forgiven him for abandoning her. Or so she thought. When Jonathan’s attentions turn seductive, she’s in danger of falling for him all over again. And she can’t help but wonder…does he really want her, or just what she’s hiding?

Smut Book Junkie – ROMANCING THE BILLIONAIRE – Exclusive Excerpt

The weather was great all the way across several states, and the flight itself was a breeze. Jonathan tried talking to Violet at first, but when it became clear that she was surly with anxiety, he left her alone and she fell asleep. So instead, he just watched her as she dozed, slumped over in the copilot’s seat.

She was still incredibly lovely. For all her prickly demeanor, he could spend every minute of the rest of his life with Violet and not grow tired of her. He was fascinated with the thick fringe of her dark eyelashes, for one. They hid those lovely dark brown eyes he couldn’t forget. The stubborn curve of her jaw was just as he remembered it, though, and he remembered pressing kisses there.

Not that she’d let him do that now. She loathed him.

Jonathan was disappointed she’d clearly nurtured hatred toward him over the years. Sure, they’d had a messy breakup, but time had passed and they were both adults. He didn’t hold a grudge for her running home and leaving him. He didn’t hold a grudge because she’d changed her mind on what she wanted overnight and demanded that they start a family, and when he hadn’t liked that idea, run off back home to her mother. He figured they were both young and stupid at the time, and now they could be adults. Friends, if nothing else. But she acted like he was her mortal enemy, and he didn’t understand it.

He’d just have to win her over again.

He’d won her once, back when she was a closed-up teenager. He’d talked and smiled and flirted and made an utter fool of himself until she’d broken down and started responding. He could do the same with a stiff, angry Violet. Just keep talking and bothering her until she exploded and told him what was pissing her off so bad, so he could fix it.

Fuck, he’d do anything to fix it. He’d never wanted anyone but Violet. She was everything to him. He didn’t care what it took.

As if she could hear the turn of his thoughts, Violet shifted in her seat, snuggling down farther against the leather, her cheek cradled against the seat belt that separated her still-magnificent breasts. “Mmm, Jonathan.”

He froze, staring at the instrument panel. He no longer saw the gauges in front of him, or the sky that filled the windows. His mind was on Violet’s sleepy moan.

Obviously she was dreaming. Obviously. He repeated this in his mind, but it wasn’t sticking. His dick had gotten hard as a rock within seconds. What was she dreaming about? What was she imagining that he was doing? His hands grasped the yoke tightly, the dual sticks reminding him of gripping his cock, of all things. Fuck. Fuck. Like he needed to be thinking about jerking off at the moment? Just because she’d moaned his name in her sleep?

“Mmm,” Violet said again sleepily, and he glanced over at her sharply. Was she just fucking with him? But she didn’t stir. Against the thin fabric of her proper blouse, her nipples were stiff.

Oh, Jesus.

Jonathan began to sweat. He wasn’t going to ogle her while she was sleeping. He was going to ignore it. Ignore the fact that those delicious nipples were poking against the filmy blouse, just begging to be touched. He remembered how much she’d loved to have her breasts played with, how she’d cried out and thrashed when he’d tugged on her nipples with his lips . . . He wiped his brow, surprised that it wasn’t coated with sweat. Violet always talked in her sleep, he remembered. No big deal. She was just dreaming.

Hear that, dick? She’s just dreaming. Now go fuck off. She still hates us when she’s awake.

Of course, his dick was listening about as well as Violet was. The cockpit of the Socata was small. Too small, he thought. His traitorous mind was telling him to reach over and put a hand on her thigh, slide it up her skirt and see if she was wet . . .

And then she’d really fucking hate him, wouldn’t she? Jonathan scrubbed a hand over his face and then returned it to the yoke, staring grimly ahead. He’d just have to ignore her. So he concentrated on things that would make his rearing dick go back down to normal. Things like his wrinkled old housekeeper who worked in his NYC town house. Spotting the paparazzi waiting outside of a hotel he was staying at. His new lineup of sportscars rolling out as lemons. Jumping out of a plane and his parachute cord not responding.

After a few minutes, he was under control again. Good.

She shifted in her seat again, her skirt riding higher up her thighs. “Mmm, oh, yes—”

“Violet,” he barked. Jesus. A man could only take so much.

She jerked awake with a small snort, limbs flailing a bit. Then she looked around, eyes glazed and narrow with sleep. “Huh?”

“Wake up,” he said gruffly.

She raised a hand and rubbed her face. “I was trying to sleep, you know.”

“Yeah, but I want company,” he lied. She’d flip out on him if she knew the real reason he’d woken her up. “Talk to me.”

“Grow up,” she muttered, straightening in her seat. “I can’t believe you woke me up because you were bored.”

He glanced over at her, noticing that she crossed her arms over those erect nipples to hide them, and her cheeks were flushed. Was she aware she was having dirty dreams about him? Sounded like they both needed a distraction.

Kelley’s Review

A sinfully sexy and delicious adventure to find hidden treasure and a love that will stand the test of time.

I was hooked on this series after I was given the opportunity to read Beauty and the Billionaire.  Jessica Clare has a talent for writing billionaire tales that allow the reader to disappear for a while and believe that extraordinary things can happen to ordinary people.  Readers will be turning the pages to see what happens next on this crazy journey.  I felt like I was watching these characters from afar as they searched for the next clue that would bring them closer to the end of their quest.  Neither of them really knew what was in store for them at the end. As I read their story I realized what was going to happen at the end and really enjoyed how the story unfolded.  Jessica brilliantly reveals each clue with a very lovely piece of poetry that I found breathtakingly beautiful.

Jonathan Lyons has never stopped loving Violet DeWitt.  She was it for him.  Even though they were only 19 years old when they first met, he never forgot the amazing summer they spent together.  Jonathan has not had a single relationship since their break-up and when an opportunity presents itself for him to seek her out he charges as fast as he can to get to her.

Violet DeWitt is a school teacher in Detroit and has never forgot her one true love.  Jonathan Lyons nearly destroyed her ten years ago and she has not forgotten the pain and heartache he caused her.  She needed him and he abandoned her.  So when he shows up unannounced at the school where she is teaching she is not really happy to see him.

Jonathan is so excited to see Violet once again.  She looks just like he remembered minus the purple streak she wore in her hair.  He is so sure that she will want to take the adventure her father left behind in his will for the two of them, that he is shocked when she turns him down angrily.  He remembers that their break-up was a little messy but can’t understand why she hates him.  It has been ten years.  Couldn’t the past stay in the past?  Unfortunately for Jonathan he has no clue of how Violet suffered because of him.

Violet is feisty and sassy as they come.  I love how she keeps Jonathan on his toes.  Jonathan could be my new book boyfriend.  He is so kind and sweet and will do whatever it takes to make Violet happy.  This couple is one of my favorite couples for 2014.  There are so many secrets revealed and Violet has suffered so much at the hands of her parents.  You wonder if they will truly find their path to true love.  Yes Jessica Clare had me in tears at two points in this read.  I was emotionally invested in Violet’s happiness.  Since this is a romance novel you should know that yes the happily ever after comes but it is a heck of an emotional journey before you get there.

If you like swoony romance with a lot of sizzle and spice you will love The Billionaire Boys Club Series.

P.S.  I would have named this book Seducing the Teacher because the billionaire in this story is the master of seduction.

A modern-day Beauty and the Beast..

After reading this book I did a search for Jessica Clare and one-clicked all the books in this series.  I am a sucker for good Billionaire love stories.  The ones that are NOT cheesy and seriously unrealistic. Jessica does a great job of making the reader believe that even billionaires are real people with real problems.  She gives us a heroine that so down to earth readers will be able to see themselves in her shoes.

Gretchen needs money.  She is a ghostwriter for a series that she is not herself in love with.  She is tired of writing about essentially science fiction porn.  She has writers block because she can’t stand her characters and the path that they are on. She would do anything to get a reprieve from writing this book even take a job that is quite unorthodox.  She is woman who loves an adventure, says what she thinks, and really does not care what people think of her.  When her agent contacts her about an opportunity to write a book based on a trunk of old letters while staying at a mansion she jumps at the opportunity.  Not to mention the money.  She is about to be late with rent again and this opportunity could not have come at a better time.

Hunter is a very scarred man inside and out.  Because of an accident when he was young part of his face is disfigured.  He has kept himself out the public eye and has never pursued a relationship before.  He becomes intrigued with Gretchen when he over hears her talking with her friend about her taste in men.  Gretchen is more about what is underneath and knows from experience that beauty is only skin deep.

It was comical to watch Hunter hide in the shadows while Gretchen did as she pleased.  She was told by his evil butler not to wander in certain parts of the house.  Hunter’s plan was to stay hidden until the time was right.  Well he did not get to pick when that time would be, because Gretchen came waltzing into his room just as he got out of the shower and she got a nice view of what Hunter had to offer.  I laughed out loud several times at the miscommunication between these two.  Hunter is a stubborn pain in the ass and Gretchen is a feisty red-head with no filter. The two of them together are a train wreck.  They are polar opposites but everyone knows that opposites attract.  When these two finally do come together the chemistry is explosive and I absolutely adored the passionate lover that Hunter became.

Readers that enjoy love stories and happily ever after for the most unlikely couples will fall in love with Beauty and The Billionaire.
