As the daughter of the owner of the St. Louis Rivers major league baseball team, Dr. Aubry Ross has been around jocks all her life. She knows the ins and outs of all their games, and she isn’t interested in playing.

When Tucker repeatedly lands in the hospital where she’s working, Aubry starts to think he’s getting injured just to see her. Tucker is both funny and sexy, and Aubry is pleasantly surprised to discover he actually respects her job.

Michel’s Review

All Wound Up is the tenth book in the Play by Play series by Jaci Burton. This is one of my favorite sports romance series and it never fails to disappoint. Jaci Burton has this special magic that brings her characters to life. The added bonus that features a professional athlete makes this series score high.

Tucker Cassidy is the sexy pitcher for the Rivers. While he is fantastic on the mound he is not so successful in the romance field. It becomes quite obvious when he tries to let his ex girlfriend down at a party and ends up with a knee to the groin. Rather than making a quick exit, he is singing soprano. A man’s worst nightmare and greatest pain. When the lovely doctor checks him out and declares his bat & balls are in order, he is smitten. The only problem is Aubrey is the team owner’s daughter. Between her father and her career, she seems like the impossible catch.

Aubrey is very focused on her career. She’s really not interested in dating. She is determined and very smart. To top it off, she’s quick witted and knows how to handle a player. When her friends encourage her to give Tucker a chance, she reluctantly does. She is in for a whole new game and her focus is going somewhere unexpected.

Aubrey and Tucker had a magical chemistry. Between their hilarious banter and red hot chemistry the reader is counting every play. Both are dedicated to their careers but need something more. They need each other for completion.

I fell head over heels in love with Tucker. He had a quirky sense of humor and creative dating skills. A guy who is willing to take a girl to a cooking class on a date because they are both cooking impaired is truly one of a kind.

This book has the right amount of humor, sexual tension, relationship tension, and steamy romance. Jaci Burton has a way of bringing her characters to life. They jump off the pages into the readers hearts.

I can’t wait to see who’s on deck in the next Play by Play book.

I highly recommend All Wound Up by Jaci Burton. It can be read as a stand alone novel.

Michel’s Review

Most people say you can’t judge a book by it’s cover. The cover for Quarterback Draw is one of the hottest covers I have seen. It definitely draws a reader to pick up this book. In this case, the book is just a yummy as the cover.

Quarterback Draw is another sexy addition to the Play By Play series by Jaci Burton. This is the ninth book in this successful erotic sports romance series. Jaci Burton has added another hot professional athlete to the roster of all stars.

Grant Cassidy is one of the hottest quarterbacks on and off the field. He takes the meaning of player to a whole new level until he meets Katrina Koslova. She’s a whole new game that he intends to win. This time there is more at stake than scoring. His heart has been engaged in the game.

Katrina is unlike all the other women Grant has encountered. She has more than her super model looks going for her. The one thing that sets her apart is the fact that even though she is attracted to him, she has flat out turned him down. The game is on.

Patience and persistence are the latest strategies in Grant’s game plan. Utilizing all the players in the game, namely Katrina’s brother and sister, to help him get his foot in the door is a brilliant game plan.

Although Katrina is extremely attracted to Grant, she can’t indulge in having a relationship. She has family responsibilities that come first. She is determined to raise her brother and sister and give them a better life than she was given.

As Grant and Katrina fumble around in the game of love the readers will be their number one fans. These two people are amazing. If Katrina can let her defenses down she will have the opportunity of winning the ultimate prize. She will win the love of a lifetime.

Quarterback Draw is hands down one of my favorite books in this series. Grant and Katrina were remarkable characters that were easy to relate to and easy to fall in love with. Their families added that extra something special that makes a book stand out. Their charm and dedication to Grant and Katrina was heartwarming.

One of the best parts of this book was the first Annual Cassidy Football Game. It was a riot and had me rolling with laughter.

Everything about the Quarterback Draw worked! I loved it!

Quarterback Draw can be read as a stand alone novel. It does not have to be read in series order.

Tina’s Review

ARC copy provided by publisher, via NetGalley, for a fair and honest review.

Patrick “Trick” Niemeyer plays professional hockey for the Travelers. Stella Slovinski is a professional dancer and best friends with Carolina Preston. They met, originally, about a year ago through Carolina and Drew and had an off/on relationship for a few months. Now, she’s scored a lead on Broadway and he’s still concentrating game to game to make it to the finals, their schedules are even busier than ever. The magnetic attraction is still there between them and Trick wants to try again, but Stella is afraid to commit to a relationship.
———————————————-
A longer novella, this book is falls short of being a full-length novel. The only previous Play-by-Play characters that make an appearance in HOLIDAY ON ICE are the Travelers and new characters are even introduced. Trick and Stella are solid, likable characters. Stella is completely commitment-shy due to a bad experience in her past (quite a while back) while Trick is ready to settle down. The dialogue and interaction feel a little stiff, and almost too proper, in several places. The flow of the story is smooth, however it’s sometimes difficult to pack a lot of dimension into it when the book is so short. The plot was not flat, but could have benefited from a little more dynamics. There was a minor conflict which was fairly easy to resolve, extremely minor predictability, and a rock-solid conclusion.
Overall, it was a short and sweet Holiday Novella that fans of Ms. Burton and her Play-by-Play series should enjoy.

Michel’s Review

ARC copy provided by publisher, via NetGalley, for a fair and honest review.

Holiday On Ice was a great addition to the outstanding Play By Play series.  Jaci Burton has created a series that features sports romances that are emotional and erotic.  Each and every book has charismatic characters, red hot romance, and a thrilling escape in the world of professional sports.

Trick and Stella have had an on again off again relationship for the past year.  It is a casual relationship without commitment .  Trick has realized he wants more than a fling with Stella.  He has to convince to take a chance on him.  Stella pulls back every time he starts breaking down her walls.  Trick shows his devotion throughout this story.

Stella has had a bad experience in matters of love.  She does not want to go down that road again.  Somewhere along the way her casual relationship with Trick is taking a new direction.  Can she let go of the pain and let someone love her again.  Can she open up and give Trick the love she has buried away.

What better time to find the true meaning of love than the holidays.  The magic between Trick and Stella will warm your heart.

I highly recommend Holiday On Ice by Jaci Burton.  It can be read as a stand alone novel or in series order.  Holiday On Ice will warm up your holidays.

Michel’s Review

2.5 Stars

Straddling The Line is the eighth book in Jaci Burton’s red hot Play By Play series. I love this series. I love books that are based upon the professional athletic scene. But Straddling The Line fell short on the scoring.

Straddling The Line features Trevor Shay. Trevor is a dual professional athlete. He plays baseball for the St. Louis Rivers and football for Tampa. He is juggling to professional careers and trying to stay on top of his game. When the death of his suriggate dorm father brings him back into the Briscoe family fold at surrogate mother’s request, he finds that he may be adding one more thing to his list. That is Haven Briscoe.

Haven has struggled after her father’s death. She gave up a successful job in New York as a sport’s journalist to go home to Dallas. Being around Trevor again, her secret crush in college, has her reeling. But she can’t seem to get out of her funk. Trevor knows just how to get her kick started.

Trevor sets up a full tell all expose with the network with the condition that Haven is to be the interviewer. He is hoping that this will bring Haven back into the fold and back into her game.

This tell all interview ends up to be much more than Trevor and Haven planned. This lengthy interview will reveal secrets, expose feelings, and build a relationship neither anticipated. Their chemistry will escalate from hot to a scorching passionate burn.

While I love Jaci Burton and the Play By Play series, Straddling The Line just did not work for me. I felt the scenes were rushed, the chemistry between the characters pushed, the story was rushed and did not flow well. The ending and epilogue were rushed and abbreviated. The characters just did not get under my skin. I found that I was forcing myself to finish this book.
