She wanted to touch him. To feel the heat of his skin under her fingers.
She sat up, ran her hands up his denim-clad thighs, let them snake under his shirt, moisture rushing to her sex when her fingers finally came in contact with the heat of his skin, the ripple of his abs.
She touched her lips to the skin just above the button on his jeans, and he hissed as her tongue snaked out to taste the salt on his skin. He held her head in his hands while she undid the button, unzipped his jeans, reached in to free his cock.
He groaned as she wrapped her hand around him, stroking him long and slow.
He gently removed her hand. “I think we better save that for later.”
She leaned back on the bed. He’d always been a considerate lover. Someone who liked to take his time, to make sure he’d wrung every drop of pleasure from her before he took his own.
“What are you going to do to keep me busy until then?” she asked.
He stripped off his shirt, then pushed his jeans to the floor.
“I think I’ve got that covered.”
She couldn’t take her eyes off him.
He’d always been beautiful, his cock large and thick, perfectly formed. But now it was part of a larger whole.
Emphasis on the word larger.
His chest was sculpted as if by a master, the defined muscle tapering to rippled abs, a prominent “V” leading downward. His cock stood at attention, the sight of it bringing a visceral pulse between her legs as she imagined him pushing into her. His thighs were muscular without being beefy, the thighs of an athlete — and a world-class lover.
She spread her knees, giving him a glimpse of her pussy, throbbing with need for him. “Are you just going to stand there? Or are you going to join me?”
He stepped toward the bed, kneeled on the edge of it until he was nestled between her knees. “Do you have to ask?”
He leaned over her and she gasped as the head of his cock brushed against the sensitive bud of her clit. Then he was stretched out over her, his face inches above her own as he smoothed the hair back from her forehead and looked into her eyes.
“I never thought I’d get to look at you like this again,” he said.
She reached up to smooth the furrows from his brow, wishing it was that easy to take away the pain he’d felt for the last eight years.
Wishing she could erase her own.
“I’m right here,” she said. “Can’t you feel me?”
“I can feel you.” He pushed his hips into hers until his erection slid between her folds, the tip teasing her clit until she squirmed under him. “Can you feel me?”
She locked her hands behind his neck, thrust her hips upward to meet his. “It’s not enough. Make me remember.”

Turning Back
J.A. Huss
(Turning #2)
Publication date: April 12th 2017
Genres: Erotica, Romance, Suspense
I lived in the dark for three years. My whole world revolved around the whims and happiness of three men. It was just a trip into the forbidden. A way out of a bad situation and forward into nothingness.
Quin, with his easy smile and charming good looks. He was always there for me… Until he wasn’t.
Smith, and his dispassionate attention. He was never there for me and he never regretted it.
Bric, the one who listened, but only to himself. Self-absorbed, self-obsessed, and self-serving. He was never the one I wanted.
And now he might be the only one I have left.
It was good while it lasted, I guess. But it could’ve been so much more. It could’ve been so much better.
And that’s why I’m turning back.

EXCERPT:
“So then what happened?” Bric asks.
We’re sitting at our booth in the White Room. Before I left, I’d sit in the middle of the bench, Quin would sit across from me in a chair, and Bric would sit to my left.
Bric is still to my left, Quin isn’t here yet—if he’s coming at all—and Adley is in her baby seat on my right.
Everything is familiar—but off.
“Then he went to bed.”
“What’d you do?”
“I sat there on the couch for a while trying to figure out what happened.”
“What did you come up with?” Bric is looking very intently at me. Like everything I’m saying is critically important.
“He hate-fucked me, that’s what I came up with, Bric!”
“Rochelle,” Bric says, throwing me one of those Don’t overreact looks.
“I’m serious. There’s no other explanation for it. He hate-fucked me. Revenge fuck. Whatever you want to call it. That’s what happened last night.” I sigh and try not to feel depressed and sad. “And then this morning I got out of bed to go check on Adley when she woke up, and when I came back, he was gone.”
“Gone?” Bric asks. “Where’d he go?”
“Just left,” I say. “I texted him. Asked if he’d be here for breakfast. And he never texted back.”
“He’s just mad,” Bric says.
“I know.” I huff. “He told me that last night too. He spelled it out very clearly. He was worried about me. Sad about my leaving. But then when I came back—”
“Now he’s just angry.”
“Right.”
“It’s a pretty typical reaction,” Bric says.
“I realize that. Which is why I’m not going to make a big deal about this. But I don’t know if this is going to work, Bric. He might not want me. He might just want to hurt me. Exactly the way I hurt him.”
“No,” Bric says, like I’m being ridiculous.
“I’m not being ridiculous,” I say. “Maybe he’s not out to hurt me. But he’s doing something, Bric. He’s playing a game, but I’m pretty sure we’re not all playing the same game.”
“He’s mad, Rochelle. You have to expect that. He’s gonna come around.”
“What does that mean? Come around? Do you really think he’s gonna fall back in love with me the way he was? Because I don’t. I think he’s here for us. Me, you, and him together. And that’s all.”
Bric rubs his hand across his scratchy jaw as he thinks this over, so I check on Adley. She fell asleep in the car on the way over here and hasn’t woken up yet. Bric is still thinking.
“I don’t want an us, Bric.”
He looks me in the eye and says. “I do. But I get it. And I’m fine with you and Quin getting your little happy ending. But I’m telling you, Rochelle, he’s just trying to protect himself right now and the best way to let him work that out and ensure you two get back together is to have an us.”
“He said he doesn’t trust me.”
“He has a good reason,” Bric counters.
“I know that,” I say, starting to get angry. “I understand that. But the whole point of us doing this… game… or whatever it is, was so that you can help me figure this out. I want him, Bric. You’re supposed to help me.”
But as soon as the words come out of my mouth I realize how stupid that is. I trust no one and I have very good reasons for that. I’ve learned over the course of my life that people are selfish. People are out for themselves. People are liars. I have a lot of experience in being lied to.
Elias Bricman definitely fits all those assumptions I have about people. And then some.

Lucky for her, those rules work just fine for Antonio.
Until they don’t.

Can she?
She never intended to travel down this road.
When unanticipated and devastating events throw the trajectory of her life so far off course, she can’t even recognize her world anymore. Suddenly, the rules no longer apply.
Will Hope be able to do the one thing that terrifies her the most?
*Please note Holding onto Hope was previously released as The Italian
“Can’t.” Hope bobbled on one foot, slipping the other into her leather crisscross Louboutin black pump. A smile tipped the curve of her mouth, catching Antonio’s reflection in the full-length mirror. He lay naked, sprawled out across the bed looking rumpled and warm, watching with wide-eyed interest as she bent to fasten the tiny buckle at her ankle.
“Rimani Qui?” Antonio repeated the request in Italian, the pull of his accent intoxicating and powerful. His light-grey eyes, full of playful offerings, gleamed in the early morning sunshine pushing through the window.
An involuntary laugh escaped her parted lips, attempting to conceal the hint of regret riddling her voice. “I’ve already extended my trip. My boss might think I’m taking a vacation on her dime if I stay any longer.”
It took every ounce of composure to keep her wits about her. Out of all the lovers Hope encountered during her travels, Antonio was always the hardest to leave.
Antonio Giovanni was the epitome of all men that women dreamed of. Tall, dark, and handsome with an accent sexy enough to leave a trail of women swooning in his wake. The man wore charisma like a fine silk suit…flawless and molded to perfection in all the right places, leaving just enough concealed to make you wonder what lay hidden beneath the faultless exterior.
“Si, I think you need some rest and relaxing. Come back to bed, bella.”
Drawing a long breath through her nose, she envisioned a week-long Tuscan rendezvous curled up beside him, under him, on top of him. Hope’s lashes dusted shut at the delicious image. Tempting.
“I really have to go or I’ll be late for my meeting with Tracy. I don’t want to embarrass myself in front of your sister-in-law.”
Taking hold of the extended handle of her suitcase, she started for the door. Antonio rolled to his back. Reaching an arm above his head, he caught her around the hip, halting her rush. A low laugh simmered in her chest at his tenacity.
“You have plenty of time. Tracy said she’d be in her office between nine and ten.” Antonio slipped a strong hand beneath the hem of her indigo wrap dress. His thumb played mindlessly along her bare thigh, coaxing a shiver up her spine. “And it’s only eight thirty. Let me take care of you before you go.”
“I have to be there at nine, otherwise I’ll be cutting it close to make my departure on time, and I can’t miss my flight again.” Her voice diminished, feeling his long, strong fingers curl around the back of her leg, pulling her close, until her knees rested against the silk bedding. The subtle aches in her inner thighs, sweet and electrifying, brought reminders of the night before.
Digging a heel into the mattress, Antonio inched his body further across the king-sized bed until his head dropped over the edge. The stark white sheet purposely arranged low on his hips, exposing the dark, trimmed hair at his groin. Heaven lay just beneath the silky sheets.
A small, wistful sigh of appreciation floated from her lips, taking in his lean body and sculpted abs. He looked nothing short of breathtakingly exquisite.
“Si’. I’d hate to make you miss your flight again.”
He didn’t sound one bit remorseful.
“Liar,” she teased, barely able to hear her own voice over the pulse hammering in her ears. “I think you’re trying to torture me.”
“Si, I could torture you all day. Stay,” he murmured, taking a gentle bite of her outer thigh.
She smiled down at him, running her fingers through his thick, dark hair. If she didn’t leave in the next sixty seconds, she’d be straddling his face in sixty-one. A tousled mass of golden brown curls fell over her shoulder as she hinged at the waist, placing a long kiss goodbye to the edge of his scruffy jaw.
“So beautiful,” he murmured. Pushing the loose tresses from her face, he twisted, brushing his lips to hers. Taking her mouth, he deepened the kiss, their tongues dancing in a smooth, masterful art of seduction. The provocative pressure, demanding yet playful, drew a low groan from her throat.
“Ciao,” she whispered contritely in his ear.
“Email me the next time you’ll be in Italy. Ciao, bella.”
She lives in Las Vegas with her husband, four kids, and two golden retrievers. If she’s not spinning richly emotional stories, you’ll find her on her spin bike.
New Release + 5 Star Review: Don’t Speak by Katy Regnery – Modern Day Fairytale Series – Book 5

From New York Times bestseller Katy Regnery comes a new twist on a beloved fairytale. In this modern retelling of The Little Mermaid, a fisherman’s daughter from an Outer Banks island untouched by time, meets the son of the North Carolina governor at a fancy party she helps to cater.Laire, who wants more from life than her little island can offer, is swept away by wealthy, sophisticated Erik, who is, in turn, entranced by her naiveté and charm. The two spend a whirlwind summer together that ends on the knife-point of heartbreak and forces them to go their separate ways.
Years later, when fate finds them together once again, they will discover the terrifying depth of the secrets they kept from each other, and learn that shattered hearts can only be healed by a love that willfully refuses to die.

As little girls we all believed in fairytales. We grew up wanting to be just like the princesses. We wanted to find our own Prince Charming and have the happily ever after. As adult women, we still believe in the fairytales. We may have created our own in our lives but we still enjoy the ones we read in the books. That is why the romance genre dominates the publishing industry.
Katy Regnery knows what the readers want. We want the fairytale with a little more of a modern twist and sense of reality. She has taken the beloved fairytales from our childhood and turned them into new fairytales we can relate to as adults.
Don’t Speak is loosely based off the beloved fairytale Little Mermaid. Rather than the princess being named Ariel, her name is Laire. Rather than losing her speaking voice, she lost her freedom of making her own choices and voicing her opinions. She still fell in love with the charming Prince Erik but just like the original fairytale, he was out of her reach. They were both from very different worlds and social standings. Ursela was still casting her evil spell to keep these two apart. But like any good fairytale, true love always wins. It may take years and a little help along the way from people like Mrs. Sebastian, but in the end they will find their happily ever after.
Like the original story, this one is just as breathtaking. This version gives the Princess something more, a voice through experiences that empower her as a woman and as an individual. She works for her voice by becoming educated and working hard. She becomes emotionally stronger through single motherhood. The prince doesn’t validate her life, he completes the happily ever after she began building on her own.
I absolutely loved this book. It was more than a fairytale romance, it was a story about building a life and working for the happily ever after. A story all women can admire and relate to.
Katy Regnery has created a true modern day fairytale.

Katy’s first modern fairytale romance, The Vixen and the Vet, was nominated for a RITA® in 2015 and won the 2015 Kindle Book Award for romance. Katy lives in the relative wilds of northern Fairfield County, Connecticut, where her writing room looks out at the woods, and her husband, two young children, two dogs, and one Blue Tonkinese kitten create just enough cheerful chaos to remind her that the very best love stories begin at home.
Release Boost + New Excerpt + 5 Star Review + Giveaway: Taking Turns by J A Huss

Chella plays the game of Taking Turns with three men as she comes to terms with her sexuality.
I’ve never been afraid of the dark…but that doesn’t mean I wanted to live in it. And maybe everyone wants what they can’t have, but I should’ve thought it over before I accepted the key and unlocked the door to their forbidden world.
Number One is mostly silent. He watches me with them very carefully. His gaze never wanders. His interest never wanes.
Number Two is mostly gentle. But it’s the other side of him I like best. The wild side.
Number Three is mostly reserved. He refuses to cross the line. Even when I beg.
It was carnal, it was sensual, and it was erotic. That’s it. That’s all it was supposed to be. A trip into the dark. A peek into the forbidden.
I just didn’t expect to like them.

SMITH:
I flick the light on and she closes her eyes, hiding her face to shield herself from the sudden brightness.
She’s… pretty. Dark hair, long and straight, kind of like Rochelle’s, but nothing at all like Rochelle’s at the same time. Her skin is fair, which isn’t surprising since it’s winter and the sun seems to have gone missing in Denver for the past month. Her hands are tied behind her back, so I can’t see them. And she’s sitting up, knees to chest, completely naked, and I can see her pussy.
I stare for a moment longer than I should and then I finally look at her face—a sweet face. Wide blue eyes looking up at me, the remnants of her make-up streaked down her cheeks like she’s been crying.
But she isn’t crying now.
Her nose is small and her plump lips are wrapped around the ball of the gag. Drool is dripping out of her mouth. One long strand hangs just above her left breast, ready to fall.
“Well,” I say, far beyond curious at this point, “I can’t wait to hear what you’ve got to say about this.”
I crouch down in front of her legs and catch her scent. The flowers. Or citrus, whichever it is. I inhale deeply and can’t help but take in the smell of sex.
I look her in the eyes as I reach behind her head and unstrap the gag. It falls forward, dropping into her lap as I watch her adjust, swallow down the drool, and then take a deep breath.
She says nothing.
Hmmm.
Just stares at me.
My hand is between her legs. My finger slipping inside her pussy. She is wet. So fucking wet. She doesn’t close her eyes or moan. In fact, her eyes never leave mine. Not once.
She likes it.
I remove my slick fingers from her pussy and bring them to her mouth.
She opens, sucks them.
My God.
Still, she stares into my eyes.
I envision her mouth on my cock and grow hard at the thought.
And then I close my eyes.
But only for a moment. Barely a blink. I’m back in control. I reach for her upper arm and pull her to her feet. She complies willingly. And then I spin her around and begin untying her wrists.
The rope is tight. Tighter than it should be. Quin knows how to tie a girl up, I’ve seen him do it enough times to be sure of that. But he was probably panicking, so I don’t judge.
When I get the rope off there is a deep red burn ringing her wrists.
She brings her hands in front of her to get a look at her wrists. I take them, looking closely at her wounds. “I have something for that. But first, let’s make progress on your clothes.”
“I have clothes,” she says, her voice not weak, not small, but firm and strong. “On the chair.”
I walk over to the chair and pick them up. Jeans. Nondescript sweater. Winter shearling boots. Some semi-nice lingerie and thick cotton socks.
“Well, that won’t do,” I say, walking back to the closets. I open the one across the short hallway from the one I share with Bric and Quin. Rochelle’s closet.
I don’t know what I expected, but I’m kinda taken aback that everything Rochelle owns is still in there. Her many, many, many pairs of thrift-store shoes, and skirts, and those horrible long dresses. Even her purses are still here. She never shopped for purses at the thrift stores. They are all designer. Even the fringy ones. They live in soft cloth bags that come inside the purse when you purchase it, and they are lined up on the top shelf like little surprises wrapped in velvet.
I only know this because I bought her a few purses myself that first year. A Prada, a Gucci, and some other brand she asked for that I had never heard of, but which set me back almost three thousand dollars.
If Rochelle ever tells someone the story of us, she better not call me cheap.
I sigh and divert my attention to the limited number of classy, five-star-restaurant-worthy dresses hanging on the far end of a rack. I look back at the new girl for a moment, then choose a red one. To set off her hair.
“Here,” I say, holding the hanger out to her. “Put this on, please.”
“What?” the girl asks, taking the hanger from me.
“I didn’t stutter. Put on the dress. I have to walk you out, obviously. You can’t walk out in jeans, for fuck’s sake. This is Turning Point Club. We have a dress code.”
“Why can’t I go out the back?”
I stop looking for shoes to match the dress and turn to stare at her. “Is that how you got in?”
She nods. “The freight elevator.”
“Figures. Fucking Rochelle hated the dress code. Well, the freight elevator isn’t going to work for me, I’m afraid. I don’t leave by way of the freight elevator. I walk in. Everybody sees me. I walk out. Everybody sees me. And since I have to walk you out, you’re going to look the part. Now put on the fucking dress.”
I turn back to the shoes.
“I need my bra and underwear,” she says.
“Not for that dress, you don’t.”

JA Huss is one of those authors that completely takes me by surprise with every new novel or new series she unleashes into the reading world. Expect the unexpected. Be prepared for twists and turns that add layers upon layers before reaching a concise conclusion or ending to a story. The ending may just be the beginning or an unexpected revelation. Be prepared to journey into the dark sensual world that not only fulfills the erotic fantasy but also delves into the minds of very unique individuals in the darkness. With JA Huss there is no black or white, light or dark, right or wrong, or good and bad. It’s a combination of it all melding together to make one outstanding and thought provoking story. The story holds the reader captive and leaves them wanting more.
After reading Taking Turns by JA Huss, I was completely floored by what I had just read. It was not the typical erotic romance novel that revolves around the darker side of sex or menage scenes that scorch the pages. It had those elements but also included so much more. This book is about four characters driven by a dark need. Taking Turns is told through each characters POV with a very clear understanding of who is who in each passage. Each character stands uniquely on their own merits with distinct and very likable personalities. While their motivations are questionable, the reader gets a sense of who they are until JA Huss throws another layer to their persona. What makes this book stand out was not the sex itself, it was how the sex scenes came into play, how each individual approached the situation, and what they gave to reach each situation.
In most cases, erotic romance walks a fine line in definition. The romance tends to get lost or overpowered by the erotic elements. I went into this book expecting that to happen. Throughout most of the book the erotic elements were the forefront of the story unfolding. It was questionable if a romance would develop and who would be the ones involved in the romance. As each man’s personality materialized I found myself hoping he was the one. As the sexual heat intensified between the four, one man began to surface to the top. It is at that point the reader realizes that this story has had the romance all along but it was cleverly disguised as something else. This is pure JA Huss brilliance at it’s best.
I can honestly say that I am still processing what I read in Taking Turns. I have many questions that I know will be answered by the end of the series. I have no doubt that JA Huss is going to throw some new kinks into the mix. She’s going to take the readers on a mind boggling journey before The Turning Series ends.
What started out as a game with no losers or winners has turned into a game of consequences. I can’t wait to see what comes next in The Turning Series. Turning Back will release on April 12, 2017.

Blurb

Finding Kyle
By Sawyer Bennett
Buy: Amazon / B & N / IBooks / Kobo
Synopsis
When you’ve lived your life as a criminal…
When you’ve done unspeakable things …
When your soul has become dark and stained…
The path to redemption begins where you least expect it.
Kyle Sommerville is in hiding and doesn’t want to be found by anyone. Certainly not by his quirky, free-spirited neighbor who’s managed to push her way past the walls he’s built around him. But Jane Cresson’s indomitable will and insatiable curiosity about her reclusive neighbor makes it impossible for Kyle to stay immersed in his dark world.
Little by little, she claws through his shell.
Day by day, she gets him to smile a little more.
Night by night, they both find pleasure they never knew existed.
When Kyle’s terrible past is exposed, Jane begins to think she’s in over her head. Can her love for this broken man finally clear his path to redemption, or will Kyle’s darkness extinguish every bit of hope she’s put into him?

Michel’s Review
Sawyer Bennett created a miracle. She brought a dead man back to life with the slash of a pen and the imagination of a true storyteller. A man who has had readers intrigued throughout two different series that are loosely connected. Even though he wasn’t a major character in either series, his role to each series was a vital part of the story. When she killed him off in Wicked Bond, I was convinced he was truly dead. It couldn’t of played out any other way at that moment in time.
Kyle Sommerville infiltrated one of the most violent and corrupt motorcycle gangs in the western part of the country. For three long years he has been undercover and living amongst murderers. He has become one of them and has done things that have gone against his morals, his integrity, and his humanity. He has lost all decency. It might of been better if he was actually dead after the crimes and horrific acts he has committed. His life was spared and it’s his job to bring these criminals to justice. He is the key witness in several federal cases that not only include the men from the MC but also powerful political figures. His testimony is going to destroy a powerful Senator.
Kyle has made some powerful and dangerous enemies. There is a price on his head. He refuses to go into the witness protection program. He chooses to hide out in a remote town in coastal Maine as a lighthouse keeper. He never imagined moving to this remote place would give him his humanity and will to live back. He never imagined he would find a love that he’s never experienced in his life. First he has to stay alive and testify.
When his past life comes hunting him down he has to make the biggest choice of his life. Leave all the goodness life has to offer or stay and lose it all.
Sawyer Bennett gave Kyle Sommerville the ending he so richly deserved. She gave him his humanity back.

Release Boost and 5+ Star Review: Worth The Wait by Claudia Connor

The first in a spin off series of the New York Times Bestselling McKinney Brothers, WORTH THE WAIT takes readers on a journey through young love into adulthood in a heartwrenching, second chance love story.Nick Walker thought nothing could destroy what he had with Mia. He certainly never thought he would be the one to destroy it.Now ten years later, Mia James is in Special Agent Nick Walker’s path once again and this time he’s determined to shed the weight of regret and finally claim the future that was always meant to be theirs.
It won’t be easy. Mia’s heart was shattered by Nick and now, just when she’d pieced it back together, it’s been broken again, bringing their past to the surface, including her own secret about that day everything went wrong.
***Every title by Claudia Connor is a Contemporary Romance and a full stand alone novel. No cheating, no love triangle, no cliff hanger.
~twenty-four years ago Nick pressed two fingers into the sleep deprived headache pounding in his temple and tried to concentrate on professor Jenkins’s explanation of ideal gas law. He circled a line of notes, ignored the knock on the auditorium door until he heard the familiar cry. Hannah, who he’d left in the university daycare two hours ago.
The high pitched wail wasn’t his two year old sister’s hurt cry. It was her scared cry with a touch of pissed off. In the six months since their parents’ death, he’d learned to tell the difference. He’d learned a lot of things. Like if he didn’t take her to the bathroom, she’d likely wait too long and have an accident. Like green beans made her throw up, but she’d eat them if he told her to. And she would never, ever go to sleep without Mr. Bunny.
He was up, out of his seat, and halfway down the auditorium stairs before his professor laid his pen down.
Nick’s eyes narrowed on the young blonde in an oversized sweatshirt with silk greek letters sewn on the front. She held a sobbing Hannah dressed in the sunny yellow sundress he’d picked out that morning. She hadn’t been crying when he left her. Now her eyes were red and snot mixed with tears dripped into her mouth. Hannah lunged for him. His arms engulfed her small body and his heart squeezed like it always did when she held onto him.
“I stay you,” Hannah said. Each word tumbled out of her with a jerk of her tiny shoulders.
“What happened to her?”
“Nothing happened to her. She hasn’t stopped screaming for the past hour and she bit three people. We can’t keep her like that.”
Several responses came to mind.
She’s just a baby.
She missed her nap.
And the loudest of all, it was my fault for leaving her.
Hannah raised her head to look at him, giant tears hanging from golden lashes. “I bite.”
“Well. At least she’s honest.” Professor Jenkins turned his questioning eyes to Nick. “She yours?”

Release Boost: Rather Be Wrong by Debra Kayn

Growing up with an absentee father never prepared her for the dysfunctional family journey she finds herself living.Heather Jones is settling in Montana as if her dad had never left her, the club had always been her family, and the women at Pine Bar and Grill were her life-long friends. Meeting Rod, the sexiest biker of Ronacks, distracts her in the most delicious way from the heartache she knows is coming. Because eventually, everyone she loves always ends up leaving her.Only he can keep her alive.
As vice president of Ronacks Motorcycle Club, Rod wanted Heather the moment her fist hit his mouth. He should’ve known better than to believe the danger spinning around him wouldn’t touch her. All the weapons, high security, and even his club can’t protect Heather against the storm.
The light in her eyes turned to concern and puckered her brows. “Are you okay?”His heart drummed inside of him, and he moistened his lips. Taken aback, he’d never had anyone ask him that question and feel like they honestly wanted to know the answer.
He nodded. “I’m good. A little stiff and sore but good.”
Heather shook her head and leaned closer to the table, reaching for his hand. He crossed his arms.
“Don’t be like that,” she whispered. “I care about you.”
“Don’t.”
Her eyes widened. “Don’t care?”
“Shit is going on, Heather. You look out for yourself and stay away from me.” His rapid heartbeat made his chest hurt, and he forced a deeper breath inside of him. “I shouldn’t have played around with you. You’re a good woman.”
“And, what? You’re a bad man?” Heather smirked. “Give that story to someone else. Whatever is going on with you has everything to do with you being attacked. It’s not about how I enjoy your company, and you’ve shown me you’re interested.”
“Like I said, you’re a good—”
“I am.” She stood from the table, stepped toward him, and bent down. “You’re also good. That doesn’t mean I’ll let you act like an asshole toward me. Go home, get some rest, and for God’s sake, take care of yourself.”
She kissed the top of his head, shocking him. All he could do was sit there and watch her walk up to the group of women across the room and join their conversation. She’d spoken words as if ordering him around and yet delivered them softly he could still feel the vibration of warmth she’d left behind in his chest. That feeling had him feeling better than he’d felt since he got his ass handed to him.
Heather leaned forward. Her hard, round ass pressed tight against her jeans. He stretched his leg out, leaned back in the chair, and wondered if Heather was aware of him ogling her. She shifted her hips side to side and then straightened, tilting back her head, and drinking from a bottle of beer.
Not from a glass, which Gia preferred.
Not a mixed drink, which Jana consumed.
No, Heather wrapped her slim fingers around the cold bottle and drank as if she enjoyed simply putting her lips on the glass.
Rod brushed the back of his hand across his lips. He’d taken things slow and gotten to know her without putting any demands on her and had enjoyed every fucking minute of frustration.
He hadn’t planned a relationship with Heather. It happened the moment she’d stepped forward without stepping back and decked him in the mouth. Her strength surprised the shit out of him. Most people backed away.
Drawn to that strength, he discovered pure softness. It wasn’t easy to get behind the layer of safety she carried herself. Short on sharing and hesitant of his intentions, she’d slowly let down her guard until he was afraid of hurting her. Hurting Swiss. Hurting the club.
If he were a good man, he’d have her in his bed every night and keep her to himself because he hated the thought of one of his MC brothers having her. But even Heather could see he was an asshole at heart.
He had to be.
Because he was one.
He shook his head, looked away from the woman who made him forget and stood. It was time to get out of here and go find the person after him. He never once believed the attack was a random hit.
