Blurb

He was an up-and-coming country singer.
She was the last girl you’d ever see in a bar.
But one night, under those neon lights,
Lucky and Katie found each other.

Beginnings are always exciting.
Always fun. Always hopeful.

Katie was in her last year of college.
Lucky was still playing local stages.
She fell for his voice. She fell for his words.
They fell in love.
It was beautiful.

But time changed their world.
She was alone. He was on the road.
Life happened.
And that love was torn apart.

Endings are always painful.
Always heart wrenching.
But not always final.

One day, Lucky came back to Katie.
And this is their story.

I woke up sometime later to the sound of my phone buzzing next to me. Peering at the screen, I saw Lucky’s name. I answered with a grin. “Hey.”

“Hey.”

I imagined him sitting in his house in Nashville with his sexy smile and messy hair. And that image was better than all the other images I’d had today.

“Did I wake you up?”

“No, I’m watching TV. Well, I kind of fell asleep in here, I guess.” I glanced at the clock, and it said one-thirty in the morning.

“So you are sleeping on the couch instead of out with your roommates?”

“How do you know they aren’t home?”

I heard his chuckle. “Same reason I know you are wrapped in a brown blanket.”

I jumped up from the couch and spun around in a circle. And then I saw Lucky, looking into the house through the dining room window. The rush I felt was bigger than I expected. A high that drowned out all the other feelings. “How long have you been watching me?”

“Well, long enough to see that you probably snore because your mouth was wide open. And I think you drool too.”

“No . . .” I shut my eyes. “Get in here.”

I hung up and went to the door. He was already on the steps by the time I had it open.

“So I was in the neighborhood.” He grinned. “Thought I would stop by.”

The flutters in my chest held me captive. Lucky might be the star, but right now, I felt like all the lights in the world had shifted their focus onto me.

Before I could say a word, Lucky pulled me into his arms as he kissed me hard, grinding his mouth against mine. He was holding me, running his hands over my body, into my hair, against my cheek.I knew in that moment, the inevitable lonely ache that was destined to follow our relationship would be worth the torment—if those days allowed me to experience this mind-consuming rush of happiness that came each time he returned home.

Michel’s Review

My Lucky Days by S D Hendrickson may not be a rockstar romance but it will sing to your soul.

Legendary Country Superstar Landon Evans has a secret. He’s not the country superstar the world knows. Before he was Landon Evans, he had another life that was full of secrets and heartbreak. He was a boy who was abandoned and lucky enough to be taken in by the Evans family. His legal name may be Landon Evans but his family and friends know him as Lucky Evans. Lucky Evans life was charmed and full of love. His dreams of becoming a country star cost him dearly. He lost the love of his life. He lost the beat of his heart. Eight years later he may be a superstar but he is still the same guy that gave his heart away to a girl with the prettiest green eyes and sweetest smile. Landon Evans is determined to become Lucky once again and win his girl’s heart. This time around it’s not only his and Katie’s heart on the line. This time around they are all going to be lucky.

Katie met Lucky in her last year of college. She was studying to become a teacher and determined to put roots down in their small town. Her parents had moved her all over the country before she went to college. Meeting a boy on the path to stardom that would keep him away from home and on the road was the last thing she wanted in her life. Lucky stole her heart and she was willing to try. Their love was charmed until life dealt them both a huge dose of reality just when Lucky’s career was taking off. Rather than fighting for their love, they listened to their heads rather than their hearts.

Their love was so pure that neither one could move on. It took eight years to bring them back together in an epic way. This time they are listening to their hearts.

S D Hendrickson has once again written a compelling novel that exposes the matters of the heart. This book came across as an authentic story of a superstardom world and small town realities. It showcased music with stunning song lyrics that touch the soul. The love between Lucky and Katie was emotional, heartbreaking, fun, and full of epic moments.

I highly recommend reading my Lucky Days by S D Hendrickson.

Synopsis

“An epic love. An epic hate. An epic story that would last a lifetime.”

I hurt. I hurt so deeply, I felt the pain searing in my bones and jabbing like a hot poker into my heart. I knew nothing would make it better as the memories pulled from the crevices of my mind, detailing the bad and the ugly, filling my thoughts with regret as I slipped into the darkness. . .

When I was eight, my mother was dying of cancer, my father lost his job, and the bank kicked us out of our house. I was forced to move to the strange town of Arlis, Texas where my father and I slept in our car in the hospital parking lot. Desperate and hopeless, we lived on fumes of our former life.

Then one night, everything changed forever. A knock on the car window brought a family into my life that I only wanted to shut out. I hated charity and I hated the Masons. Well, except one. He made it impossible to hate him.

Jess Mason had the biggest blue eyes and ornery smile of any boy I had ever seen. He was a ray of sunshine in my dark world. A boy full of adventure, dragging me across the meadow of Sprayberry Ranch; a beautiful Texas paradise full of horses and tree houses that got us into more trouble than anyone ever imagined.

Jess was my everything as a kid until we grew up and the rules changed. Instead of living happily ever after with a boy full of love. . . I destroyed it.

Wow!  Are you looking for a book that is going to give you the next book hangover?  Are you looking for an epic love story that is not your typical fairytale?  Are you looking for a book that has you blubbering one moment and laughing so hard your stomach hurts the next moment?  Are you looking for a book that will keep you captivated from the moment you open the book to the moment you close it?  If you are looking for an exceptional book that will make an impression on your soul, read The Mason List by S. D. Hendrickson.

The Mason List by S. D. Hendrickson came highly recommended to me.  In the midst of my busy review schedule, I bought the book with hopes to get to it as soon as I had a break in my schedule.  The synopsis of the book kept haunting me.  I finally put aside my schedule and allowed myself to indulge in a strictly pleasure read.  The moment I opened this book I was immediately drawn into the story.  I could vividly picture this very precious happy little girl playing dress up, climbing trees, and chatting with her dog.  This little girl was everything an active, healthy, happy six year old child should be.  Her life is perfect until two years later.  Life threw her family into a downward spiral.  Life took away everything she knew, everything that made her happy, and everything she looked forward to.  Her life was out of control.  Everything was subject to circumstance and minute by minute survival.  Until fate steps in and changes her life once again. The Mason family stepped in to help the Tanner family get their lives back on track.

Alex Tanner will step into the world she has dubbed the “Mason List”.  It will be a world full of anger, resentment, and hatred towards the Mason family because of their unconditional charity.  It will also be a world of wonder, hope, happiness, heartache, and love because of Jessup Mason.  She will find a friendship that is stronger than her hatred towards the Masons.  She will find her soulmate and best friend.  But just as fate stepped in when Alex was eight, fate will step in when she is an adult.  This time she will have control on how she chooses to handle “The Mason List”.

This is an epic story of two lonely children that build a friendship that is timeless.  Their deep bonds will grow with time into something that most people will never experience in their lifetime.  The journey their lives take will have the reader enthralled.  Their emotional transition from childhood to adulthood is an epic journey with eye opening moments.

The Mason List is a beautiful love story.  It is a beautiful story of redemption and forgiveness.  It is a story of love and hope.

It was an honor to witness Alex and Jess as they grew into The Mason List.  These two characters captured my heart.

This book touched my soul.  I highly recommend The Mason List.
