Holiday With A Twist

A Holiday Romance Novella

By Shannon Stacey

Buy: Amazon / B & N

Synopsis

New York Times bestselling author Shannon Stacey celebrates the season in this brand-new holiday novella

After a messy breakup, Leigh Holloway is ready to start her life over. Until her parents put the family home on the market and call her back for one final, memory-making Christmas. The last thing she wants to do is deprive her mom of the perfect holiday, so she’ll lie her way through the visit and worry about her future in the New Year. Too bad the only bar in town is owned by a guy she seriously wronged in high school.

Leigh’s best friend broke Croy Dawson’s heart, and Croy knows it was Leigh’s fault. They’ve never liked each other, but Croy isn’t cruel: he’d never turn away a pretty woman in need of some family-Christmas fortification. He doesn’t expect her to drink just enough candy-cane martinis to tell him her secrets—and he definitely doesn’t expect to get caught up in her holiday madness.

Despite the surprising love and laughter, Croy and Leigh can’t escape the truth: he can’t walk away from his family obligations and she has a life and career to reboot. But anything is possible if your holiday comes with a twist…

Michel’s Review

Are you looking for a sexy holiday romance to kick off the holiday season?  Look no further, Shannon Stacey has delivered another delightful holiday romance just in time for the season.  This novella reunites old friends and gives them a second chance at happiness.

Leigh and Croy have a history.  It’s not a romantic history.  They were best friends all their lives until his girlfriend broke up with him the first year of college.  Croy has blamed Leigh for the heartbreak because she convinced his girlfriend to go away to college in Florida.

Leigh left New England for bigger and better things.  She built a career and life in Texas after college.  Now she’s returning home to help her parents sell her childhood home.  She has kept several things about her life in Texas a secret from her family.  She intends to keep those secrets until after the holidays.

Her return home isn’t exactly how she expected.  Her older sister is back home with a new baby, an adorable pug, and an ugly divorce behind her.  Her parents are different creatures than they were in her childhood.  Her hometown has changed.  She definitely needs a drink to get through this homecoming.

Croy is the bartender at the local pub/ restaurant his family owns.  When his old friend Leigh walks through the door he doesn’t know whether to be happy or refuse to serve her.  When she orders a candy cane martini, he knows his old friend is not the same girl that left town years ago.  Maybe they can rekindle their friendship and weather the holiday season together.

Love is the air this Christmas.  Leigh and Croy are in for a big gust of Christmas Romance.

Shannon Stacey always delivers a heartwarming holiday romance that has all the feel goods readers want.  She also makes you crave a candy cane martini.

The New York Times bestselling author of Defending Hearts returns to small-town New Hampshire where a substitute football coach and a guidance counselor tackle love.

Now, with Sam back in town and working by her side, picking up where they left off is too great a temptation to resist. But before long their fun fling is looking like a future together. I love this series by Shannon Stacey.  It reminds of me Friday Night Lights combined with Pay It Forward.  There are so many positive messages about life, friendship, family, and love teamed up with a sizzling romance in this sports romance category. It showcases the positive influences from the past leaving an impression. The will to pay it forward is unquestionable.

Sam Leavitt is summoned back to Stewart Mills to fill in for Coach McDonnell. For the life of him he can’t figure out why the coach wants him to fill this position.  Coach McDonnell remembers the troubled kid with more black marks against him turning himself around through high school football.  This kid turned his bleak future around and made something of his life.  Coach McDonnell believes he has the right stuff to mentor these impressionable young men.  Coach McDonnell also recognizes that Sam needs to make peace with his past.

Sam’s journey towards forgiveness from the past will guarantee a healthy, happy future that includes love and family. His journey will make your heart swell with joy.  His influence on the teenage football players is compassionate, positive, and insightful.  He understands their teenage mentality along with the quirks that hide the impressionable young man beneath the surface.  He understands peer pressure, family pressure, and community pressure.  He understands low self esteem and sense of rejection.  He’s been there, he was that boy fourteen years ago.

Over the summer he met Jen Cooper, the school guidance counselor.  Jen not only understood his background but also saw what a fine, honorable man he had become. It was too bad that they only had a short encounter.  With Sam being back in town, it is the opportunity for something more.

Shannon scored big with Homecoming. It had the perfect blend of small town romance and sports romance.  I loved every word, every play, and every character.  I highly recommend this book.

Michel’s Review

Shannon Stacey has a new series out that blends the magic of small town romance she is well  known for writing.  In her new series Boys of Fall, she is featuring guys that played for the high school champion team fourteen years prior.  They were legends in their home town.  Like most small town youth, these guys moved on to bigger and better things after high school.  They moved as far away as they could.  Fourteen years later they are brought back home to help out their coach raise money so that the high school can keep their football team.

Chase Sanders was the running back for the champion Stuart Mills High School team.  He is now in the construction business in New Jersey.  His life is falling apart.  His girlfriend has cheated on him and dumped him.  His business partner has ran off with all his company’s money.  He is losing jobs and his good reputation.  He broke and broken.

One phone call gives him a reprieve from the disaster his life has become.  He is summoned back to Stuart Mills to help raise money for the high school football team.  His old coach was his mentor and gave him more in life than his family did.  He would do anything to help him.

When he gets to Stuart Mills his life will change drastically.  He forgot how small town life was.  People were invested in one another for all the right reasons.  Sure they may know each others business but it is still a far cry from city life.

Chase will once again get acquainted with his coaches daughter Kelly.  Kelly has become a strong beautiful woman with a sense of integrity, compassion, and strength.  He is attracted to her.  He can only let the attraction go as far as a vacation affair.  He has nothing to offer Kelly with his life being in shambles.

After reconnecting with his old football buddies, the town members, the high school ball players, his coach’s family, and Kelly; Chase will begin to see things in a different light.  Kelly may be the new beginning he needs.  Stuart Mills may be the place he can once again call home.

I enjoyed the first book in the Boys of Fall series.  All of the characters and town members came to life.  Shannon Stacey weaves magic in small town romance.  I look forward to the next books in this series.

5Michel’s Review

Nobody writes a holiday romance like Shannon Stacey.  Every year she delivers a very special holiday story that makes the holiday season brighter.  She captures the magic of the holidays, delivers an emotional book, always gives her characters a holiday miracle, and gives the reader a taste of small town charm during the holidays.  I always look forward to these holiday themed books every year.  It’s the perfect book to help celebrate the holiday season.

Christina Forrester and her young son were betrayed by her husband and left penniless.  She had to rebuild a new life that is worlds apart from her former life.  The funny thing is that she is much happier and feels like she is accomplishing giving her son a good life.  When she ended up in New Hampshire it was more of a blessing than a curse.  She met Gail Broughton, a kind window, that helped her get on her feet.  She has a job, a nice house she is renting, and a wonderful neighbor that helps her with her son, Nathaniel.

Since Gail lost her husband, she has been a bit lost until she meets Christina Broughton.  Christina and Nathaniel help fill the void in her life.  Her children are grown and on their own.  Her son left New Hampshire after he lost his wife and unborn child.  Her daughter is married and has small children of her own to manage.  Gail has a lot time and a heart full of love to give this small wounded family.

Will Broughton decides to move back to New Hampshire for his mother.  He knows she must be lost without his father.  He intends to be there for her and help her with all the honey do jobs around the house.  He is finally ready to come home.  He’s come to terms with his loss and has accepted his new life.  He doesn’t intend on falling in love again or starting a new family.  One loss in a lifetime is all he can handle.  That is until he meets Christina and Nathaniel.  These two people will become an important part of his life.  They will become his future.

I loved the family unity and dedication in this book.  It showed the importance of showing your loved ones how much they mean to you.  It also showed that there is always room for more love.

Nathaniel captured my heart with his pure innocence.  His wonder and awe of the holidays made this book magical.  I loved how he hero worshipped Will.  I love how Will taught him the importance of giving to others. Will set the perfect example of  being a good man.

The chemistry and attraction between Will and Christina was sizzling.  They did not go into their relationship lightly.  They both had to heal from the past and learn things about themselves.  Their friendship and companionship was a slow build to a forever kind of love.

Shannon Stacey delivered another beautiful holiday romance.
