My eyes
follow Brou as he leaves the bench and walks away. Sheez. His ass looks great in those jeans. And it looks pretty great
not in those jeans too.
I can’t
believe I had my hand wrapped around his cock.
I can’t
believe he came in my hand.
I can’t
believe he stood in front of me naked from the waist down.
I can’t
believe he touched me with his fingers between my legs and then sucked them. Fuck. That was hot.
No one has
ever made me come so hard in all my life. Brou
gives quality orgasms. I can’t wait to have another.

Craft beer and the sexy men who brew it.
A beautiful neighbor. A complete stranger. That’s all she was when I
moved in next door.
Adelyn Maxwell is my neighbor but she’s no girl next door. The more I
come to know her, the more I discover she’s a good girl with a lovely dark
side. And maybe I don’t want her to stay on her side of the fence.
I want to disturb the rhythm of her pulse.
I want to see the way her hair spills on the bed when she lies beneath
me.
I want her to teach me the dirty pretty things she desires behind closed
doors. And she does.
But mostly I want to leave my mark on the most intimate, untouched part
of her body. Her heart.
A seemingly insignificant intersection of our lives neither of us recalls
suddenly becomes a pivotal moment in our future. We aren’t strangers at all. And
our paths aren’t crossing for the first time.
These twists and turns of fate will become one of two things: a wrecking
ball to tear us apart or the connection to bond us together forever.

Oliver
Thorn’s POV from Chapter 6
“Control.
And how I feel when you exert your strength over me. Domination. Power.
Control. All of it turns me the fuck on.”
“Why?”
“There’s
something primal and exhilarating about a man who takes complete control in the
bedroom. That’s what it’s about for me. I want to feel desire. Real
desire. I need a man who will grab me and make me feel small and vulnerable and
feminine. Without hurting me.”
She
releases my hands and sits upright, still mounted on top of me. “Outside of the
bedroom, it’s all a level playing field. I’m an independent woman, and I
control everything in my life. But in the bedroom . . . I want to be controlled
by a strong man.”
“And
choked.”
“I need an
alpha male. I crave the dominance and show of strength he has over me.” She
reaches for my hands and intertwines our fingers. “You’re the first man I’ve
trusted in years. I couldn’t have let anyone else put their hands on me that
way. It had to be you.” She releases my hands and leans over me, propping on
her lower arms, but her hands grasp my face. She presses a soft, closemouthed
kiss on my lips. “Only you, Thorn.”
She wants
an alpha. A controller. A choker.
God help
me, I like what I just did to her. I want to do it again. And that’s totally
fucked up.
I spent my
childhood being controlled, dominated, choked. What kind of person does it make
me if I do those things to her? Even if it’s what she wants?
“I can’t,
Max.”
She presses
her forehead to mine. “You can. You did.” I did. And it was wrong.
So.
Fucking. Wrong.
“But not
again.”
“I saw your
face. You liked my submission. You liked putting your hand on me like that. You
weren’t repulsed. And in those few moments when you held my life in your hands,
I belonged to you. I knew it. You knew it. And you liked it.”

From New York Times bestselling author Penelope Ward, comes a new, sexy standalone novel.

It seemed like a good idea at the time. Look up Landon Roderick, that boy from childhood whom I’d never been able to forget—even though he so easily forgot about me—and call him.

Then again, anything sounds like a good idea when you’ve had a little too much wine before bed, right? It was supposed to be just a quick, meaningless, prank call. Instead, I went off on him—unloading thirteen years of pent-up emotions.

I didn’t think he’d call me back.

I certainly could never have anticipated the weeks of sexually tense phone conversations that followed as I got to know the man he’d become.

Turned out, Landon had never really forgotten me, either. That special connection we had was still there. I opened up to him, but there were also things about me he didn’t know. And he had his own secrets.

Over the countless hours we talked on the phone, I wondered what would happen if we actually saw each other. One night, I did something impulsive again. Only this time, I went to the airport and booked a ticket to California. We were about to find out if one phone call could bring two lost souls together or if my drunk dial really was all just a big mistake.

A complete STANDALONE.

About HARD WOOD:

Women often say a good man is hard to find. And a hard man is even better.

That’s why I’m quite a catch— good, hard, loaded, and wait for it…I’m ready to settle down too. But the woman I want to pitch my tent with is precisely the one I need to stay far away from.

After that fantastic night with Mia Summers, I’m ready to give her many more. But there’s a hitch in my plans — she just hired my company. If there’s one thing I’m committed to, it’s running a squeaky clean adventure tour business. One of the iron-clad rules?

Don’t screw your customers.

I can follow my own guidelines. After all, it’s only a week-long trip with Mia and her employees over the trails and down the hills I guide them on. I can obey the rules—even if it’s hard in the woods.

I’m about to give myself a badge of honor when the storm of the century hits, sending everyone else running for cover, but us—my biggest temptation and me, alone for a long weekend. You don’t screw the client, especially when you’re already in love with her . . .

But what’s a guy to do when she’s so hard to resist?

Atheists Who Kneel And Pray

By Tarryn Fisher

Yara Phillips is a wandering muse.

She dates men who need her, but always moves on to something new, never staying in one place for very long.

David Lisey is in need of a muse.

A talented musician lacking lyrical inspiration. When he first sees her, he knows he’s found what he’s been looking for.

Yara believes she can give David exactly what he needs to reach his full potential:

A broken heart.

David’s religion is love.

Yara’s religion is heartache.

Neither is willing to surrender, but religion always requires sacrifice.

Yara’s Yesterday Spotify List:

Dear Yara,

The bands in London, November 12th. Want to catch up?

David

So casual. So nonchalant. You’d think we were only acquaintances, that we’d once sipped a couple of beers together instead of tattooing love on our skin and reciting marriage vows. I read the e-mail again and analyze the shit out of it. How can I not? I count out the words: thirteen. The punctuation: four. His name, my name. A flippant, casual turn of phrase: catch up. In the end, there’s only so much psychoanalyzing you can do to a thirteen-word e-mail. I move on with my life, feeling rather pathetic. But not before I e-mail him back. And okay, sure, I don’t move on with my life. What does that even entail? Forgetting? Forgiving? Being happy? Besides, I know what he wants to talk about. I know why he’s coming.

Hi David,

Yeah, sounds good. Let me know when and where.

Yara

My e-mail is a word shorter.

I’m that petty.

Robin’s Review

With the words of her new contemporary romance, author Tarryn Fisher swept me to the heights of relationship bliss, then lulled me into a fear of impending doom. She shattered my lovesick heart, but then healed it and made me whole again. Right alongside the primary characters, I experienced ALL of the emotions in what may be one of the best romance novels of 2017 – Atheists Who Kneel and Pray!

Hailing from London, England, Yara Phillips has become a drifter. Every few months, she travels from one U.S. city to the next for a fresh start. David Lisey spots her through the front window of The Jane in Seattle, Washington, where she works as a bartender. And that’s when he knows. The lead singer of Lazarus Come Forth has found his muse. From the moment David pulls a splinter out of her thumb, he sparks her interest. Yara might be willing to be his muse, but at what cost?

Reminiscent of Caleb and Olivia from her first novel, The Opportunist, Tarryn Fisher made me fall in love HARD with David and Yara! David’s pursuit of Yara is delightful! Their conversations and flirting are endearing. The chemistry between them is palpable. Their connection is undeniable. Their love story is a journey, an experience which will cause them both to grow as individuals.

Tarryn Fisher’s writing is exemplary. She is deeply detailed in her descriptions of the sights and locations of her hometown. The businesses, landmarks and people of Seattle, London and Paris come alive through her words. Colors, buildings, and scenes were painted as visuals in my imagination as I turned the pages of the book. With some of the best descriptive writing that I’ve ever read, the whole feel of Atheists Who Kneel and Pray lures me to the Pacific Northwest.

Tarryn Fisher is skilled at drawing emotions and feelings out of her readers. You’ll find this especially true with her manuscript of Atheists Who Kneel and Pray. I encountered a broad spectrum of emotions while reading this novel, ranging from joyful exhilaration to feeling a great sense of loss. Fisher’s writing is a form of art. In this story, you’ll find it meticulous and poetic, vibrant and evocative.

Every once and a while, you come across a book that touches your heart in ways you can’t explain. It’s just special. For me, that book is Atheists Who Kneel and Pray, and I can’t wait to find the time to read it again! I’m honored to give Tarryn Fisher a 6-star review and will be adding this book to my list of 2017 favorites!

Michel’s Review

The one thing I have come to realize is when I open an Ella James novel to expect the unexpected.  Ella James has a gift of creating complex twists in what should be a relatively simple romance novel.  She adds layers upon layers to the story and creates characters that are less than perfect but at the same time humanly endearing.  Their flaws are monumental and their strengths are admirable.  What’s in the middle is their muddied relationship, past and present, that evolves into an unforgettable love story that was earned through surviving the storm called life.

Evie and Landon were doomed from the beginning.  He was a foster child taken in by her loving but strict parents.  The family loved Landon and wanted the best for his future.  They wanted to give him a stable home and a family he could count on.  What they didn’t factor in is a budding relationship between two naive sixteen year old kids who were driven by their hormones as well as their hearts.  The only thing they could do was send Landon back to the system until both kids could mature and reach their future potential.  What they couldn’t foresee is the ramifications of their actions changing the course of both kids future.  Both Evie and Landon spent over ten years in their own personal hells but never forgot each other.  The problem was what happened in those ten years could never be undone or changed.  They both ended up reaching their academic potential and had bright futures as doctors but were still very damaged individuals.  Working together as interns in one of the best neurosurgery hospitals is a challenge.  Denying their feelings for one another was a hopeless endeavor.  Endangering their careers was inevitable.  Revealing their secrets is unthinkable because those secrets could tear them apart forever. Secrets can only be hidden for so long and the revelations are beyond devastating.

Two teenage hearts fell hopelessly in love.  Two adult hearts are still hopelessly in love.  The key word is hopeless.  Evie and Landon have to choose between finally letting go of each other or letting go of the past and hanging onto each other for life.

Ella James once again delivered an emotional romance that touches the readers hearts.

I highly recommend reading Fractured Love by Ella James.

Release Blitz and 5+ Star Review: The Iron Tiara by Beth Flynn … A Spinoff of the Nine Minute Trilogy

The Iron Tiara

By Beth Flynn

Buy: Amazon / B & N / IBooks / Kobo

Amazon UK / Amazon CA / Amazon AU

Synopsis

Anthony Bear and Christy Chapman are from two completely different worlds.

Anthony’s the leader of a motorcycle gang that terrorizes Florida’s West Coast. As a child, he ran away from his family and the Cherokee Indian Reservation to enter a life of crime. As an adult, he leads a multifaceted life managing his two businesses—his legitimate landscaping venture, and his loan shark and underworld dealings. Driven by anger and betrayal, Anthony begins the hunt for Christy’s father, Van Chapman, after he runs out on a loan.

Christy’s privileged life is not as it seems. She has kept painful family secrets and hidden some of her own. She’s determined to find out the truth and expose Van, but her search delivers her right into Anthony Bear’s hands, adding kidnapping to his list of crimes.

Their worlds are as contrasting as the color of their skin. The only thing they seem to have in common is their mutual disdain for Van Chapman…and each other.

They couldn’t be more wrong.

Michel’s Review

I’m sure the digital book retail world is working in overdrive today with the release of The Iron Tiara by Beth Flynn.  Readers have been waiting for a year to re enter the dynamic world from the Nine Minutes Trilogy.  Readers are taken back to South Florida in the 70’s where a corrupt world of lawless bikers committing unspeakable crimes that included drug trafficking and murder were as much a part of the scenery as the sunny beaches and gator infested waters of the Everglades. A world where men like Grizz and Anthony Bear ruled with an iron fist and a loaded gun without any conscience or remorse.  The readers experienced Grizz’s epic story that spanned over twenty years and now they are going to experience Anthony Bear’s reign of terror during those years as well.  Unlike Grizz’s complex story, Anthony’s story is just as charismatic with a very straight forward view.  He’s just a lethal (if not more) as Grizz was but he didn’t have to hide his actions and secrets the way Grizz did.  Anthony owned his kingdom and protected what was his no matter what the cost was and did it without apologies or explanations.

Before I go any farther I want to emphasize to the readers… do not go into to this book looking for more insight into Grizz.  This is not his book or his story!  His story has been told, his life has been exposed, he’s bled for the readers on the pages.  Grizz didn’t get to where he was alone, he had a few friends who helped him along the way and he trusted completely.  The one who always had his back without question was Anthony Bear.  Anthony Bear is just as enigmatic as Grizz.  His story is just as compelling.  Grizz and Ginny will only make cameo appearances as supporting characters.  It’s time for Anthony and Christy to tell their story.

It all begins with Anthony Bear as a twelve year old child on the Cherokee reservation in Oklahoma.  Readers get an insight of his heritage and what his life was like as a half breed on the reservation.  Being the nephew of the Chief doesn’t give him prestige or validation, he still has to prove himself as a person of integrity and value.  He’s learned the value of ethics and honesty from his uncle but has also learned corruption and dishonesty from his father.  When faced with choices that test his honor as an individual it sets him on a new path that leads him to South Florida and the beginnings of a life of crime.

By the mid 1970’s Anthony has established his ruthless reign of crime on the west coast of Florida.  No one crosses his line and lives to tell about it.  When a client reneges on a loan, he takes revenge and extracts whats due.

Van Chapman ran out on a loan and Anthony is going to get his due.  When an opportunity falls in his lap, he takes it.  He kidnaps Van Chapman’s only daughter, Christy Chapman, to hold for ransom.  It doesn’t take long to realize that Van Chapman could care less and the only thing being held for ransom is his heart.  Christy Chapman isn’t the white socialite he thought her to be.  She’s more than an heiress, she is the queen of his iron heart.

As most readers know… Beth Flynn delivers a complex, detailed story that spans decades.  She allows her readers to experience her characters lives throughout the years rather than just the moments where they fall hopelessly in love.  She allows the readers to experience their joy, their triumphs in life as well as their mistakes, pain, and tribulations that test their very souls.  She gives them life on the pages as well as in the readers hearts!

I am thankful to experience Anthony Bear’s beautiful, ugly life.  He is a man of honor and integrity as well as a ruthless criminal.  He is a hero in his own right!

EXCERPT:

The silence that followed was thick with tension, and Liv almost couldn’t decide if she’d hallucinated what’d happened or if this first date was truly just that bad. Jerry wouldn’t make eye contact and, instead, peered down at his cell phone beneath the table. So she took the opportunity to survey the diners sitting at the horseshoe-shaped bar near them in the hopes she’d see someone, anyone, she knew. God, please give me a way to escape Mr. I Don’t Use Menus. But God had clearly forsaken her, because the party of three women having a girls’ night out were strangers. As were the various groupings of men, some of whom wore Orioles gear and watched the pre-game commentary on the captioned television screens above the bar. An elderly man she didn’t know sat alone nearest to their high-boy table nursing a glass of bourbon, and two seats down from him…sat the hottest man Liv had ever seen.

And that was her impression just from seeing him in profile.

He had dark blond hair and a chiseled jaw, and even sitting, it was clear that he was tall.

Seriously broad shoulders filled out a dark green button-down shirt, and big hands gripped a glass of water. Now God was just being mean. Because someone was going to get to be with that man tonight while she was stuck here with Jerry of the I Don’t Use Menus clan. As she watched, not-Jerry pressed his cell phone to his ear and began talking in tones too low for her to hear.

On a sigh, Liv returned her attention to Jerry. Not that it mattered, because his gaze remained fixed on his phone. She drained the rest of her Prosecco and wished someone would bring her the bottle. That wouldn’t be too awkward for a first date, right? Right?

Synopsis

Being young is all about the experiences: the first time you skip school, the first time you fall in love…the first time someone holds a gun to your head.

After being held hostage during a robbery at the local convenience store, seventeen-year-old Edie finds her attitude about life shattered. Unwilling to put up with the snobbery and bullying at her private school, she enrolls at the local public high school, crossing paths with John. The boy who risked his life to save hers.

While Edie’s beginning to run wild, however, John’s just starting to settle down. After years of partying and dealing drugs with his older brother, he’s going straight—getting to class on time, and thinking about the future.

An unlikely bond grows between the two as John keeps Edie out of trouble and helps her broaden her horizons. But when he helps her out with another first—losing her virginity—their friendship gets complicated.

Meanwhile, Edie and John are pulled back into the dangerous world they narrowly escaped. They were lucky to survive the first time, but this time they have more to lose—each other.

“You were going to give it up to Duncan Dickerson?” he sneered. “Are you serious?”

I halted, staring at him. This was not good. “How do you know about that?”

“Anders overheard you and Hang talking.”

“Bastard.”

“Well?” he demanded, acting all authoritarian. Idiot.

“To be fair, I didn’t know his last name was Dickerson,” I said. “That’s unfortunate. Though, I wasn’t actually planning on marrying him, so . . .”

“Not funny.”

I shrugged.

“You barely know the guy.”

“Um, yeah. None of your concern. We’re not talking about this.” How mortifying! My face burned bright. People should just gather around and cook s’mores. “I appreciate that we’re friends. You mean a lot to me. But this is going to have to fall under definitely none of your damn business, so go away please.”

“We’re talking about it.” He advanced a step.

“No we are not.” And I retreated.

“You were going to let a complete stranger touch you.” Advance.

Retreat. “People do it all the time. You do it all the time.”

“But you don’t,” he said, taking the final step, backing me up against the side of his car and getting all in my face. “Edie, this is your first time we’re talking about. Isn’t it?”

“Yes, and it’s going to be messy and painful and probably horribly embarrassing and I just want it over and done with.” I tried to meet his eyes but failed, settling for a spot on his right shoulder. “You’re not a girl; you wouldn’t understand. Also, last time I checked, you’re not the gatekeeper of my hymen, John Cole. So back the fuck off.”

He said nothing.

Deep, calming breaths. “Look, someday I’ll meet someone I really like and we’ll have a deep and meaningful relationship and go at it like bunnies. But I don’t want to be the dumb virgin in that scenario.”

He slowly shook his head.

“Also, I do not want to die a virgin.”

“What? What the hell are you talking about?”

“Hey, you and I both know death can occur at any time.”

“This is crazy.”

“I’m seeing a therapist!” I told his shoulder. “I don’t know if you noticed, but I’m a little bit messed up these days. It’s hard for me to trust people. That’s not going to change anytime soon.”

He screwed up his face at me. “Wha—”

“I’m just trying to be practical.”

“Well, you’re being ridiculous. None of this makes sense.”

“It does to me.”

Again, he said nothing.

In fact, he said nothing for so long that I finally looked him in the eye. The anger had left him, replaced by an emotion I didn’t recognize. Worst of all, he still smelled like summer. A little sweat and the open night air, everything I loved. Liked. I meant liked.

“What?” I said, finally.

He let loose a breath. “I’ll do it.”

Michel’s Review

Wow!  Trust by Kylie Scott blew me away!  Kylie Scott ventured into the dramatic world of teenage angst and conquered those drama babies with a big dose of harsh realities, valid fears, and gave them the tools to become strong, independent adults with an arsenal of emotional experiences and new perspectives in life.  In other words… she gave them a chance to learn to trust themselves and trust their hearts by making them face themselves in a life changing situation where the scars were internal rather than external.  A life or death situation bonded two completely different types of people and opened their eyes to the realities of their lives.  It changed their perspectives and changed the course they were on.  It gave them the strength they didn’t know they needed to step outside of their individual destructive paths and reach for a better path.

Most teenagers can’t see past right now and really don’t have a concept of what they want for their future lives.  They can’t comprehend life beyond the drama induced world in which they are living in.  To them it’s a state of permanence rather than a stepping stone of becoming a mature adult.  They don’t understand that the moment they graduate high school that none of the crap they dealt with matters anymore.  Their choices and actions at that time in their lives can influence their future paths but the peer pressure is gone.  They are now accountable only to themselves.

Edie and John were put in each others paths during a convenience store robbery where they witnessed tragic horrific murders.  They were lucky to survive the ordeal but they didn’t come out of it without scars.  It opened Edie’s eyes to the way she saw herself as an individual and made her take a stand against bullying by choosing to remove herself from the negative environment.  She switched schools and refused to become a target. When she runs into the boy who saved her life, she knows she made the right decision. This boy sees her as a person rather than the poor fat girl.

John was on a bad path.  He was a party boy and small time school drug dealer.  After the robbery he began to see his life was on the same path as the guy who robbed the store.  When he sees the girl from the store at school and notices how positive her life is, he wants the same thing.  With her help, he’s changing into a boy with a bright future rather than a low life drug dealer.

These two find refuge in one another.  They become deeply bonded friends who give each other the confidence to become better people.  They help each other accept themselves and see the good rather than the bad.  In the process they find a love built by strength of character rather than surface beauty.

Kylie Scott captured the soul of a teenager in todays world and gave them the tools to become confident adults.  This book was more than a teenage romance, it was a suspenseful novel that allowed the characters to grow emotionally as individuals.  Life is never easy and it’s even harder when you don’t have the emotional maturity to handle the angst.  This novel is about learning to Trust oneself and Trust those who are willing to invest themselves in you.

I loved this novel and would recommend it to readers of all ages!
