Excerpt:

“Woah, careful there.”

“Damn, wet floor. Like mopping is going to make it any better looking.”

Jax’s ears perked up at hearing a familiar voice. He lifted them both up so they were standing. The woman was brushing off her navy blue, hip-hugging skirt, so he couldn’t tell who it was, but when she looked up, Jax instantly knew why he recognized the woman’s voice.

“Brooke?”

Her eyes widened, and then recognition fell over her features.

“Jax. Wow, never thought I would ever cross paths with you again. How’s it going?”

“Alright, and yourself?”

As Brooke talked about her new clothing line and her little apartment in downtown Denver, Jax took her all in. Her hair was short now, just below chin length, and styled to frame her face. Her body was the same rocking figure he remembered from when he met her at the bar, that awkward night his boys and Jake Taylor all hung out before a pre-season game, and for some reason, her eyes were brighter than he remembered, as if she was breathing a new life.

Tracey’s Review

Mason is done with love. He’s had his heart broken, and he’s not about to go through THAT again, so he does what any self-respecting pro football star would do: he’s leaving a trail of conquests a mile long, while having the time of his life, or so he’d like to believe.

THREE AND OUT is the final book in the Love and Sports series by Meghan Quinn. And, while it is largely Mason’s and Piper’s book, it is really an ensemble story, like the others in the series. Jax and Brooke, Ryker and Hannah, Jesse and Ashlin are all featured as well, as Meghan brings the series full-circle and gives everyone the ending that they need. Even Lexi and Jake make an appearance, and it’s nice to see the crazy kids from the first book, still happily together several years down the line.

I enjoyed this book a lot. Meghan has written characters that are so nuts that you can’t help but love them, with all their quirks, insecurities, and issues. The dialogue made me laugh out loud, and I am just a little bit in love with every one of the obnoxious guys in this book. I feel like the writing, which was not bad, but more immature in the first book, has vastly improved, and is much more polished and readable. I would very much recommend this read, as much for the zany cast of characters as the storyline that rounds out the series in a very satisfying way.

Have a look at Book 1 and 2 of the Love and Sports series.

pFair CatchFair Catch (Love and Sports, #1)

Training, playing ball and studying is Lexi’s life and it never seems to bother her until her friend, Parker Hill, points out to her that sweat pants on a Friday night while watching sappy romance movies isn’t really living up her last year in college. Lexi didn’t see the need to party since she didn’t know what the hell she was doing with her life after college but her friends wouldn’t take no for an answer. Little did she know going to the first party of the season was going to flip her world upside down.

Jake Taylor, starting quarterback for Cal U and campus heart throb spent his entire college career, partying, getting drunk and winning football games but it is all finally catching up to him. He is ready to throw in the towel of his partying days when he decides to have one more last fling. That is when he runs into the one person that could turn his life inside out.

Lexi wants nothing to do with Jake and his partying ways but after one bet gone wrong , she finds herself on a date with the annoyingly obnoxious, egotistical heart throb. Even though she wants nothing to do with him, she finds herself gravitating toward him and giving into his charm. They fall hard and fast for each other as they find love, comfort and a home. They live in their own littler world where nothing matters besides the love they share for each other.

But love isn’t enough for Lexi when she is trying to find her way after college. She slowly sinks into Jake’s shadow and finds herself clawing out of the Jake sized hole she buried herself in so she can find who she is, who she wants to be and what her future holds for her.

Fair Catch is a true love story that goes through the trials and tribulations of Jake and Lexi’s insecurities, jealousies, short comings and strong personalities. Love is one hell of a strong bond but sometimes, it’s not strong enough. Follow Jake and Lexi as they try to hold on to the love they share while they try to find themselves and find out what life is after graduation.

3 star

Lexi Knox is the golden girl at Cal U. Captain of the softball team, she’s smart, beautiful, and a fantastic athlete. She’s also sure that she doesn’t want anything to do with Jake Taylor, quarterback of the Cal U football team, and jerk with a capital ‘J’. But Jake wants Lexi, and he’s willing to do his best to persuade her that he’s a changed man.

FAIR CATCH is the first book in the Love and Sports series by Meghan Quinn. Reading this book was like watching a tennis match. The interactions between Jake and Lexi were so back-and-forth that it was sometimes hard to keep up with the way that they kept changing their minds about their relationship. Luke has a well-earned reputation as a manwhore, having slept with practically then entire women’s athletics department at the university, so he’s got his work cut out for him to convince Lexi that he’s done with all of that, and ready to be a one-woman guy. And Lexi has all sorts of family drama, and has a hard time showing her real self to Jake, opting instead to throw in the towel with little convincing reason. This is New Adult, though, so I could forgive a lot of this, if not actually appreciate it. The supporting characters, especially Parker and Margo, made this a much more enjoyable read for me.

FAIR CATCH is the first book in a trilogy, and, since I like Meghan’s writing style, I will continue to read the series, and look forward to seeing the characters grow and mature in the subsequent installments.

About Meghan Quinn:

Badass_Headhot

When I was in high school I occasionally read books but was consumed by other teenage things so I didn’t take the time to appreciate a good book on a cloudy day, wrapped up in a blanket on the couch, besides “The Notebook” I made time to read the heartbreaking novel.

It wasn’t until I received a Kindle for Christmas one year that my world completely flipped upside down. When looking for books, I came across the Contemporary Romance genre and was sold and I haven’t turned back since.

You can either find my head buried in my Kindle, listening to inspiring heart ripping music or typing away on the computer twisting and turning the lives of my characters while driving my readers crazy with anticipation.

I am currently residing in beautiful Colorado Springs where the sun is always shining and there is a trail waiting to be hiked on every corner. I share a lovely and warm home with the love of my life and my five, four-legged children.

Caleb made sure the door was shut softly and they were well away from Isabella’s room, before he rounded on Leif.

“Are you out of your goddamn mind?” Though his tone was low, he knew that Leif was aware he was being shouted at.

“What is your problem?”

“You looked like you were ready to spank that girl in there.” Caleb looked at his friend, and didn’t see a single bit of remorse on Leif’s face. He couldn’t believe the level of stupidity that was surrounding him today. First, there was Isabella who couldn’t see that she had been a child wracked with sorrow, reaching out for comfort, and used by predatory scum in college. Now here was Leif, with his inner Dom in full force, planning on showing her the error of her ways because she didn’t think she was worthy.

“Caleb, didn’t you hear the crap that she was saying about herself?”

“Yes, Leif, I did. Shall I recap for you?” Caleb knew his voice was sarcastic, but his temper was blown. Leif should know better than this. He continued, “I know that we are dealing with someone who has almost no sexual experience. Would you agree?” Caleb waited, and finally Leif nodded.

“We are dealing with someone who thinks she has been promiscuous and if I had to guess, based on her upbringing, she sees what happened to her as something sinful that she alone caused. Are you with me, Leif? Are you tracking?”

“Yes, Samuels, I’m tracking.”

“We are dealing with someone who is sheltered and by her own admission, is still struggling with her deep attraction to the two of us. Still with me?” Leif just stared at him.

“And that precious woman in there just basically said that she cared enough for us, that she could see herself falling in love with us. She told us that she wants us to have the best possible woman to make a life with, but that she doesn’t think that she is good enough to be that woman.” Caleb took a deep breath and continued. “She said that, Leif, because she is empathetic, caring, loving and wonderful. Meanwhile, you’re over there thinking with your goddamn dominant dick, instead of realizing that we have a chance to nurture and love and be loved by the best thing that has ever happened to us.”

Caleb watched as his words sank in.

“But how can she doubt herself like that, Caleb? It makes no sense!” Leif walked over to the counter where he had left his beer, felt the warm bottle and poured it down the sink before getting a cold one out of the fridge.

“Didn’t you ever spend any time with your mom or your sister?” Caleb held out his hand and Leif handed him a beer as well.

“Yeah, I guess Kara was going through some stuff where she didn’t know which way was up, but she always knew her own worth.” Seriously surrounded by stupidity, Caleb thought to himself as he took a pull from his beer.

“Leif, let’s look at this from another angle. I know that there were times when all four of you Johansen kids took shit because you had two dads.”

“We sure as hell didn’t take it for long.” Leif’s grin was feral. Caleb couldn’t help but smile back. Growing up in Fate Harbor, he was often right beside Caleb and his siblings whenever a disparaging comment was made about the Johansen parents being a triad. Soon there was no kid in school who had anything to say about the Johansens or any triad families, because they knew they’d get the shit kicked out of them.

“What I’m saying is that Isabella is cut from a different cloth than the Johansen clan. Clearly, she got called some pretty vicious names while she was in college. These accusatory labels apparently tied into her moral upbringing. So it’s easy to see how she ended up with some deep-seated beliefs about who she is, and level of worthiness she’s assigned to herself since those days. This is not about somebody who is mouthing off things to offend her Dom so she can get spanked, Leif! This is a young woman who has a broken mirror.” Caleb took another long pull off his beer and set it down on the counter, happy to see Leif really thinking about what he had said. He turned and made his way back down the hall.

Excerpt

I turned toward the frameless picture windows lining the entire exterior wall and was presented with a breathtaking, unobstructed view of the harbor. Smack dab in the middle, behind an antique mahogany desk, stood the tallest, most impressive man I’d ever seen. The black suit he wore matched the surroundings, professional and sleek. The top three buttons on his white shirt undone, dark sprigs of hair peeked through and begged for my attention.

As I got closer, his eyes scanned me from head, to chest, to hips and up and down my long legs at least three times, resting on my ruby-red tiptoes.

Ha! Two could play at that game. Using the exact pace he did, I snapped mental pictures of every God given, Mr. Universe muscle. A wavy black ponytail, pulled tight at the nape, crested his wide shoulders and dipped to mid-chest, bringing my journey to a momentary pause. A taut dress shirt molded to his pecs became an instant favorite and preference I didn’t know I had. As I gravitated lower, the desk impeded my view, coming to rest at his waist and a nondescript silver belt buckle. My eyes drifted back up, wishing I could see more, but his tailored jacket without a hint of lint on it kept him hidden. Still, from what I could take in, the man had sin engraved all over him.

I stopped in front of his desk and realized my earlier assessment of him had been right. My six five in heels, shrunk to five feet the way he towered over me by several inches. “Linc?” The wispiness of my voice made me cringe. Way to go, Serena.

His answer, one sharp nod. In the corners around each eye, little wrinkles appeared as he took another long journey over my body. Knees locked together, I tried hard not to fidget. “I’m Serena. Mylaynee said my interview was at twelve thirty. I’m a little early. I didn’t mean to interrupt if you were in the middle of something.” Damn, there I went, rambling. Yeah, that would have him eating out of my hands.

Linc rounded the desk, coming toe to toe.

“You’re a virgin.”

Excerpts

“Well,” Stevie started, picking her spatula back up. “I’m going to start with the most obvious question: Is he a good kisser?”

Kyra bit her lip and nodded, making Stevie roll her eyes dramatically. “It was probably the best kiss I’ve ever had, but that really isn’t saying much since my kissing experience is pretty limited. His skin was warm from where he’d been working. He wasn’t quite sweaty yet, but I could still smell it. When I kissed him, I tasted the salt of it around his lips. I had my legs around his waist—”

“What?” Stevie screeched, throwing her hands in the air and flinging icing everywhere. “That is so not just a kiss! You pounced on the poor guy! You’re a freaking animal!”

“I did,” Kyra agreed, smiling rather dreamily. “I jumped onto him, and he caught me. I could feel the muscles in his arms go all tight to hold me. And then I kissed him, but that didn’t last long.”

“He stopped it?” Stevie asked, slightly breathless.

“No. He starting kissing me back, and it was like…”

“Like what?” Stevie yelled.

“Like he needed to taste every part of my mouth. Like maybe he had wanted to kiss me too, but I was the one that did it first. It kind of felt like he wanted every inch of me, but all he had was my mouth. So he took it. And all I could do was just hold on.” Kyra shrugged when she was finished.

Stevie was wide-eyed with her mouth parted slightly. She blinked as if she was waking up from a dream. Then she shivered. “Well, I’m good to go for another few months.” She squeezed her legs together and made another face. “Oh, yeah. That’ll do.”

Tracey’s Review
Kyra Aberdeen is hoping that returning home to a place she’s never been will bring her the peace she’s never had. Although she appears to the world as cheerful and upbeat, delivering peppy Youtube videos and social media posts, it’s all just an act. For as long as she can remember, Kyra has been fighting a darkness inside of herself, one that she can only find relief from in unhealthy ways. In an effort to stop her destructive behavior, she’s decided that smiling big and putting on a happy front will be her way of dealing with things. Until she goes home to Canaan Island, GA, and meets Hale Cooper. Hale hates fakers, and has no problem pushing every one of Kyra’s buttons until she’s willing to get real.

FAKERS was an interesting read for me. I think that Meg Collett did a good job of addressing the need for openness and discussion about hot button issues like depression and addiction. She managed to make her characters funny and engaging, even while they were less than perfect. Stevie is absolutely the best friend that anyone would want to have, and I found myself laughing out loud at her antics. I had a bit of a hard time getting a bead on Hale, but he stood by Kyra like a champ, and I really liked him a lot by the end of the book.

Ultimately, I did enjoy FAKERS, and would recommend it, especially to fans of New Adult reads, and give it 3+ stars.

Excerpt

Jon shakes his head. “It’s weird, because I’d never really thought about ‘love’ when it came to my dad. It wasn’t something I’d ever really looked for. I knew some kids had that–hell, I knew you had that, with the way your dad doted over you–but I just assumed you were all lucky, or special, or somehow extraordinary. I never knew it was something I should expect. I mean, my dad never even told me he loved me. And when Will and Max came along, their dad was the same. Emotionally dead.

“And Mom wasn’t much better. She was too hurt by my dad–and then too drunk in the wake of what happened. She’d tell me she loved me, but it was rarely when she was in a coherent, sober state.”

“I love you, Jon,” I tell him spontaneously, moved to say so by his story and by my own genuine compassion for him. “How could anyone not love you?” Sadness overwhelms me as I look into his eyes, and I feel myself begin to cry. “Don’t believe it for a second. Just because they didn’t say it doesn’t mean they didn’t feel it.”

Another tear falls down his cheek, but he never breaks down. He looks at me for a few seconds, his thumbs wiping away the wetness from my face, and returns my involuntary verbal outburst with an instinctive physical one of his own. His lips crash hard against mine, moving quickly as his hands lace through my hair and rest at the nape of my neck.

Both of us in need of a breath, he turns his head to the side slightly, resting his temple against mine. My hands press on his chest, feeling the fast rise and fall of his breathing that mirrors my own. His left hand trails down my right arm until it reaches my hip. His fingers grasp my hipbone as his right hand gently caresses my cheek.

“I need you,” he whispers in my ear. I nod my head against his, and I know he can feel my response. He continues to stroke the corner of my mouth with his thumb. I kiss it sweetly, and he lets it linger over my lips. I kiss it a few more times before I grasp his t-shirt in my hands and start to take it off. He lets go of me to pull it over his head.

His eyes trained on mine, he stands up in front of me, offering his hand to help me to my feet. Once standing, I kiss his lips, then his jawline, then his neck, and he turns his shoulder like clockwork, bending down ever so slightly so I can kiss the dream and the sleep.

Robin’s Review

Contessa by Lori Otto

If you have not read the Emi Lost & Found series, this review may contain spoilers.

Do you remember your first true love? Do you remember the passion, the overwhelming feelings that you experienced? For me, everything felt incredibly intense. I felt completely safe in the arms of my partner, as if nothing from the outside world could hurt me. I existed in an imaginary bubble. I felt protected. Imagine experiencing your first love at the age of sixteen. When you couple the experience of falling in love with teenage hormones, you have a real recipe for drama, angst and heartbreak. The immaturity and inexperience of a teenager makes it especially hard to maintain an ongoing relationship. Author Lori Otto has done a fantastic job of capturing this scenario in Contessa as Livvy Holland falls in love with Jon Scott.

Although not required, I recommend reading the Emi Lost & Found series before beginning Contessa. There are events, family history and background information found in that series that is extremely relevant to the Choisie series. Reading the Emi Lost & Found novels will help you to appreciate and better understand the family dynamic found in Contessa. As an extension of the Emi Lost & Found series, the Choisie series focuses on the adopted daughter of a wealthy philanthropist and his wife who live in Manhattan.

Olivia Sophia Holland was adopted by Jackson and Emi Holland at the age of four. At the beginning of Contessa, Olivia is nearing the age of sixteen when she is reunited with Jon Scott. Jon and Livvy previously shared a workspace at Nate’s Art Room, a program for underprivileged kids who show promise with the arts. Livvy is a talented and flourishing artist. Although clearly not from an underprivileged home, she has been allowed to attend classes because both of her parents are part of the foundation for Nate’s Art Room. Jon is two years older than Livvy, but his age difference doesn’t deter him from approaching her father to ask for permission to date her when she turns sixteen.

Relationships are a primary focus in Contessa. Livvy is young, but she is at the age where she wants to exert her independence. She has always had a close relationship with both of her parents, but more recently, she seems to be growing closer to her mother, while simultaneously pulling away from her father. Jacks is a wealthy philanthropist, well-known in Manhattan, which places their family in the crosshairs of the paparazzi. Jacks can be overbearing and protective as he struggles for some semblance of control over her social life, preferences and decisions. This includes micromanaging time and experiences between Livvy and her first love, Jon. Livvy has also developed a fatherly-type of affinity for a talented artist whom she never met, which further drives a wedge between her and Jacks. All of this combined has created a division between them that seems too great to overcome.

I have mixed feelings for Livvy in Contessa. She is a hard character to love in this novel, but I do. She can be impulsive, selfish and hurtful towards her parents, but I also see the good in her. There are moments that her inner beauty shines through. This leads me to believe that Livvy will grow by leaps and bounds as this series progresses. Her relationship with Jon is both intense and extremely sweet. Because of his age and family obligations, Jon is more mature than Livvy. He has lifelong goals and sees Livvy as a part of his future. I can only wonder what Lori Otto might have planned for this couple.

Contessa is the first novel of this series, the main characters are young, and there is a whole lot of story that remains to be seen for Jon and Livvy. There is plenty of room for character growth for many of the characters, including Jacks and Emi. Novels written by Lori Otto tend to bring out the strongest emotions in her readers – anger, sadness, joy and satisfaction. Lots of tears. To this day, Otto is responsible for the ugliest cry that I have ever experienced from reading a novel, and I totally mean that as a compliment! With Contessa, she was able to bring out the best and worst of my emotions, and that is a sign of a great book. Contessa is most definitely a 5-star read! Congratulations to Lori Otto for an outstanding start to her new series!

Synopsis

The New York Times and USA Today bestselling Marked Men series continues with this sizzling, sexy story of love, heartbreak, fate, and second chances.

After the only girl he ever loved told him that he would never be enough, Rowdy St. James knocked the Texas dust off his boots and set out to live up to his nickname. A good ol’ boy looking for good times and good friends, Rowdy refuses to take anything too seriously, especially when it comes to the opposite sex. Burned by love once, he isn’t going to let himself trust a woman again. But that’s before his new co-worker arrives, a ghost from the past who’s suddenly making him question every lesson he ever learned.

Salem Cruz grew up in house with too many rules and too little fun—a world of unhappiness she couldn’t wait to forget. But one nice thing from childhood has stayed with her; the memory of the sweet, blue-eyed boy next door who’d been head over heels in love with her little sister.

Now, fate and an old friend have brought her and Rowdy together, and Salem is determined to show him that once upon a time he picked the wrong sister. A mission that is working perfectly—until the one person that ties them together appears, threatening to tear them apart for good.

Beautiful sexy glamorous girl with tattoos

EXCERPT:

WHEN I PUT THE key he had given me in the door to his apartment it felt like the end of a long journey. Really it was only a little over twelve hours and I had stopped to nap once along the way, but it still felt like too long since I had seen his face or been able to touch all that toned and tattooed skin. Jimbo greeted me at the door when I pushed it open. His tongue lolled out of his mouth and he jumped up and put his paws on my legs. He was going to be huge when he finally grew into his fuzzy body and I was overwhelmed at how happy I was to see him. I dropped to my knees and rubbed my face in his neck as he licked me all over my face. I was obviously missed and I had to say it was just one more reason I knew I was finally where I was supposed to be. It was late, so the apartment was dark.

I checked the dog’s food and water, trying to be quiet in case Rowdy was already asleep. I was winding my way toward his bedroom when a haphazardly discarded sketch pad lying on the couch caught my eye in the dim light. I paused for a minute to pick it up and felt my heart stop and then start to race as I flipped through the first few pages. There were a couple of drawings that were obviously for clients, tattoos that hadn’t made it from paper to skin yet, but most of the pristine white pages were covered with images wearing my face. There was mermaid me, and naughty- sailor- girl me. There was sassy Indian girl me with long Pocahontas braids and there was sexy devil me standing next to angelic me. There were dozens of them all in different shapes and sizes, but every single image was undoubtedly modeled after my distinct look. I wasn’t sure if he had drawn them all over this last week while I had been gone or over the months we had been chasing each other in circles.

Either way it made my heart swell and the full certainty that I was it for him settle deep inside my bones. I set the pad down and tiptoed through the hall. Jimbo took one look at where I was going and huffed out a disgusted- sounding snort. The poor guy had learned early on that he wanted no part of what happened between his humans when they were together in the bedroom. The light was off and Rowdy was sprawled on his stomach across the covers. His blond hair was sticking up every- where and he hand one arm bent up under his head. The only thing that could have made the sight better would have been if he hadn’t bothered with the black boxers before crashing out.

Even with them obscuring the view, I couldn’t complain. I let out a breathless sigh and crept closer so that I could lean over and touch my lips to that anchor on the side of his neck. I felt his pulse leap and tasted the salt on his skin as he murmured sleepily and rolled over onto his back. Those infinitely blue eyes glowed at me in the dark as a grin pulled up the corner of his mouth.

“Hey.”

 5 starMichel’s Review

I have been a huge fan of the Marked Men Series by Jay Crownover since the beginning.  This series has captivated the readers because of the dynamic characters and their close knit connections that make them a family.  Each of the characters has their own story and individuality that makes them stand out amongst each of their friends and family members.  Their individuality and unique personalities add the perfect balance in the family unit.  The strong bonds of friendship and love are what makes this series endearing.  Through out this series there has been one character that has stood out.  His wisdom, unconditional support, and relationship advice has made the friends better men.  His understanding and huge heart has made each of the women in their group value his advice.  He has earned their love and trust. Throughout this series his past has remained a mystery.  It is clear that his past has made him dead set against having a committed loving relationship.  This mysterious past has also given him the insight on how valuable a true loving relationship really is.  His advice comes from his past experiences and mistakes.  What happened to Rowdy St. James in the past that made him the man he is today?  What happened to make him a man that won’t commit to a steady relationship?  What happened to make him so understanding when it comes to love, but cannot accept it for himself?

Readers are finally going to unravel the mystery of Rowdy St. James.  When the mystery is finally solved and all of Rowdy’s dirty laundry is aired out, the readers are going to love this man even more.

When Salem Cruz joins the Marked team, she throws the doors wide open to Rowdy’s mysterious past.  It is clear that she and Rowdy have a history.  A history that ended on a bad note.  It has all the gang wondering what that past is.  For the first time they are seeing the easy going and charming Rowdy acting like an ass.  Clearly they are shocked by his reactions to Salem.  As the story unfolds it will surprise everyone, including Salem.

Salem has been a wanderlust for the past ten years.  She ran away from Texas and left Rowdy alone.  What happened in those missing ten years molded both her and Rowdy into the people they are today.  The one thing that has always been a constant for Salem is her love for the boy she left behind.  When the opportunity to be a part of Rowdy’s life once again knocks on her door, she takes it with no hesitation.

Rowdy and Salem will have to come to an understanding of what really happened ten years ago.  They will have to let go of the past resentments to be able to move forward.  They will both find that their bonds are much more than a shared past.  Together they can build a loving future.  The past will come knocking on the door and both of them will have to figure out where that past fits in their lives now.  They will make some new choices that will be good for everyone involved. Rowdy will get a surprise that will change everything he thought he knew about family relationships.  Salem will find the boy she left behind is nothing in comparison to the man she is running towards.

When Rowdy and Salem finally come together it is explosive.  Their passion for one another goes much further than mutual attraction.  They are finally free to give their hearts completely without the restraints that clearly held them back.  They not only have sizzling chemistry in the bedroom, they also have a passion that will last forever.

I loved everything about this book.  It showed the importance of friendship, family, and love.  The characters from the past books were present and in rare form.  Their lives are moving in new directions.  These new directions will make this group even tighter.  We also got to meet some new characters that are going to lend strength to the entire cast.  I am hoping they will get books as well ( they might end up being the stars of the new series).  And…yes…Asa and Royal were building up intrigue and angst that has the readers dying for their book.  Yes…it’s coming…April 14, 2015.  In the meantime, enjoy Rowdy in all his sexy, good ole boy glory.  I know I did!

Jay Crownover has written an unforgettable series.  The readers are going to love Rowdy even more than they already did.  I highly recommend the Marked Men series.

Rowdy can be read as a stand alone novel or in series order.

Sensual portrait of beautiful girl with tattoo lying on bed.

Easy Virtue RD-2

Excerpt

easy virtue teaser CR

What is love?

I don’t know.

I’ve never had it.

Is it even real?

No, I don’t think so. I mean, how can I believe in love when I’ve never witnessed it? When it seems to only exist in books and films, or in the lives of more fortunate people than me? Trust me, I know.

Love is my personal chimera.

I am gazing at brown eyes, admiring the richness of the color, the beauty of the man to whom they belong to.

“You’re so beautiful, Blaire … so wet,” he murmurs, his hand going between my legs as he begins to rub me. His fingers spread me open to their soft invasion, tuning my body to his wants and needs, preparing me to be taken as the hot friction of his touch lights a wild fire within my body. It’s not the first time he has touched me like this, but each time feels better and better—the sensations all-consuming and heady.

One finger.

Two fingers.

One finger.

Two fingers.

Over and over again.

His invasion is fast and slow, deep and shallow. His touch is soiled heaven.

As I open my legs wider for him, I wonder if it feels this good because of him or because I’m taking something that doesn’t belong to me and making it mine.

“Oh God … I love you, Blaire. I love you … I love you …” he pants in my ear.

“Don’t stop … it feels so good,” I breathe.

Okay, maybe it’s because at this moment in time this man thinks he loves me and no one else but me, however false his proclamation may be.

I close my eyes as his lips land on mine. He kisses me softly as if I’m made out of gold, kissing me with that familiar mouth I’ve seen smile tenderly at me so many times before. The assault of his tongue debilitates me but doesn’t incapacitate me.

Its four dollars, gorgeous, the cute barista says, smiling at me.

Im about to pay for my cappuccino when I hear a deep, manly voice say, Let me get that for you.

A man wearing a beige suit comes forward, standing next to me as he hands the barista some bills. Ive seen you around youre Paiges friend.

I smile, licking my suddenly dry lips. Thank you, and yes I know Paige.

The smile on his handsome face seems to freeze as his gaze follows the tip of my tongue, the spark of hunger brightening his eyes. Inwardly, I smile because who knew it was so easy to make men desire me, particularly when I went without attention for so long.

My pleasure. Are you,he coughs, here with someone else?

I shake my head and look at him through fluttering eyelashes. No, Im here all by myself.I pause, touching his arm invitingly, and smile. Would you like to join me?

He looks around the coffee shop, probably considering if he should, if its proper to do so, but less than five seconds later, hes staring at me once again. Sure.

Yes, just like that.

The beige walls are spinning.

The clock is ticking.

The bedsprings creak as the moon cries outside the motel window.

And the man above me kisses me while he fingers me, preparing me for him. Gotta love such a thoughtful man.

I can taste his sweet saliva mixing with mine, and I love it.

“Please,” I beg against his lips, reaching for his hard cock and wrapping my fingers around it. “I’m ready.”

I feel his mouth leave mine as he begins to make his way down my partially dressed body. “Are you sure, Blaire? Are you sure you want to do this with me?”

I open my eyes to witness what I think I want him to do. No, what I’m sure I want him to do. I can’t help the smile I feel playing on my lips as I see him struggling with his conscience. He asks me if I’m sure when he has already fucked my mouth with his cock countless number of times, when his fingers have filled every orifice of my body. Should I laugh? No … I decide to take pity instead.

“I’m sure, so sure,” I say, letting my arms land like dead weight on the bed, the cheap fabric rough against my skin.

“All right.”

When I feel the bed dip between my legs, I instinctively open them for him and watch as he brings a condom package to his mouth. As he rips it open with his teeth, I admire his perfect full lips that emphasize how masculine he is.

I feel pleased with myself.

So fucking pleased because he wants me.

Mr. Callahan wants me. Me. Can you believe it? Chubby Blaire. Ugly and awkward Blaire.

Unlovable Blaire.

I guess I’m not that ugly anymore. My body? What was considered fat as a child is now called boobs and ass. Guys want it. They want me. They want to touch me, grope me, feel me … they want to screw me. And it feels good to be wanted … so good. It makes me feel powerful, and like a potent drug spreading inside your bloodstream, I want more.

I need more.

“Hurry up,” I say, not bothering to be shy or coy about it. I mean, he brought me here to have sex, right?

“Fuck, give me a second, Blaire. Trying to get the damn condom on my dick.”
As he rolls the rubber on his stiff dick, his eyes wonder over my bare chest, my face, my spread legs. Shaking his head as if trying to clear his mind, he mutters, “You’re so beautiful. I want you so much.”

That’s not the first time I have heard those words come out of a man’s mouth. Josh tells me all the time how beautiful I am, how perfect I am, how much he wants me, how much he loves me. But he’s my friend with benefits. The words kind of lose their meaning when it’s the same person saying them to you over and over again.

“Show me.”

Those two words are all it takes for him to spread my legs wider with his hands and finally enter me with his throbbing dick. Pain shoots through my body, and a groan escapes my mouth when he covers my body with his. I feel his whole length inside me in one deep thrust.

“Christ, you’re so tight.”

He lifts both my legs, wrapping them around his lean waist and starts to thrust. Hard. It hurts. But I like the pain. It sobers me.

And that’s when reality comes crashing down on me. It hits me with the speed and blinding power of a torpedo, making me realize what I’m doing. What I’m giving away and the man doesn’t even know it.

What the hell am I doing?

Proving that you are your mothers daughter.

Making her proud.

The room is filled with the noises of the man grunting his pleasure and the wet slapping of our skin; it makes me want to gag. I want to throw up. Maybe it’s the alcohol I drank.

Maybe it’s self-disgust.

The initial pain is gone and now I just feel sore. And strange.

His beautiful face lowers, his lips about to connect with mine, and I feel the bile rise inside my throat. I turn my face to the side, his kiss landing on my cheek. My eyes watch the way the lights in the bathroom illuminate all its used and dirty ugliness.

“Oh God, I’m going to come … I’m going to come … I’m going to come,” he continues to pant in my ear, pumping in and out of my body. Before I know what’s happening, he half-screams and half groans, his body going tense on top of mine.

And just like that it’s over. In less than five minutes I’ve managed to kill a part of me.

Our breathing evens and he pulls out, moving to stand up. I push myself up on my elbows to see him inspect his condom. It still glistens. By the time he lifts his eyes, connecting with mine, I’ve already wrapped my body with the duvet cover.

Confusion, shock, and pleasure reflect in those brown eyes. “I-I didn’t know … I …” His hands go to his hair as we stare at each other. “I didn’t know you were a virgin.”

I shrug my shoulder carelessly, causing the duvet to slide down, exposing my bare breasts to him. His eyes immediately flare with lust. “It doesn’t matter … I wanted it to be you.”

And that’s the truth.

“But—”

“But nothing. If it bothers you, then forget it happened. I already did,” I say, ending the conversation.

This is my body. I will have the last word. Not him. Not anyone. This is my life. This is my decision.

Without giving myself a chance to doubt my next words, I turn to look at him in all his naked beauty, the gold wedding ring on his finger catching my attention. “Don’t worry, Mr. Callahan … I won’t tell your daughter that you fucked her classmate.”

And with that, I seal my destiny.

Excerpt

Liza turned around and the smile on her face about dropped me to my knees. Her long light brown hairwas pulled up into a bun and she had a bandana wrapped around her head. My eyes traveled up and down her body as I took in the jean shorts, cowboy boots, and light pink T-shirt. Her smile faded briefly when she looked at me before she gave me a weak smile.

I smiled as I walked up to Liza. I hadn’t felt this happy in a long time. I glanced at something hanging around her neck. When I noticed it was the ring I had given her I immediately looked down to her left hand. That’s when I saw the engagement ring. I stopped dead in my tracks. Liza let out a nervous chuckle and walked up to me and gave me a quick hug. “Hey you. It’s been what, a year?”

I couldn’t pull my eyes from the ring. Liza was engaged? I slowly looked up into her eyes and that’s when she looked down to her hand. She quickly put her hand in her pocket and smiled. “Um…how have you been, Walker?”

“You’re engaged?”
