From the NYT Bestselling author of MISTER O, comes a sexy new standalone romance…

Let me count the ways why falling into forbidden love is not my wisest move…
1. She works with me every single day.
Did I mention she’s gorgeous, sweet, kind and smart?
2. She works in my home.
Playing with my five-year-old daughter. Teaching my little girl. Cooking for my princess. Which means…
3. She’s the nanny.
And that makes her completely off-limits…But it doesn’t stop me from wanting her. All of her.

***

The other nannies in this city don’t call him the Sexy One for nothing. My boss, the amazingly wonderful single father to the girl I take care of every day is ridiculously hot, like movie star levels with those arms, and those eyes, and that body. Not to mention, the way he dotes on his little girl melts me all over. But what really makes my knees weak are the times when his gaze lingers on me. In secret. When no one else is around.

I can’t risk my job for a chance at something more…can I? But I don’t know how to resist him much longer either…

With all the heat, heart and humor readers have come to expect, this newest standalone will make you laugh, swoon and feel like you’re falling in love!

A swoony, forbidden standalone contemporary romance, THE SEXY ONE is a forbidden love story, the romantic tale of a single father falling head over heels for the smart, kind and beautiful nanny. Resistance is hard as these two fall deeply in love while she works in his home. But forbidden romances are fraught with their own challenges, and nothing comes easily for this couple. Told in dual POV, THE SEXY ONE is being called Lauren Blakely’s most romantic novel yet. THE SEXY ONE is swoony, sweet, hot and forbidden.

“A good old-fashioned love story with a forbidden twist.”

Tracey’s Review

“Good luck tonight,” she says, upbeat and cheery. Her eyes meet mine, and for a few seconds they linger. Neither one of us says anything. I just enjoy the view of her gorgeous face.
That gorgeous untouchable face.
I repeat that word silently. Untouchable. She’s off-limits to me…
I’d like to smack myself right now, because it’s so cliché–the single dad who’s got it bad for the nanny.

What sorcery is this?! I mean, really, I don’t know how she does it. Author Lauren Blakely keeps turning out these wonderful, whimsical romantic comedies, and I just keep falling more in love with them, every single time.

I think that I say the same thing after each book, but, seriously, Simon Travers might just be one of my absolute favorites of Lauren’s hunky guys. I mean, come on, hot dad (think Chris Hemsworth here, since Lauren’s description certainly calls him to mind), totally devoted to his 5-year-old cute as heck, take no prisoners, wide open daughter Hayden, and falling a little bit more each day for his kid’s bright, lovely, and open-hearted nanny, Abby. Ovary explosion on Aisle 9, folks.

It’s hard to find anything that I don’t like about these characters, this story, these books. Lauren has mastered the art of the rom-com, crafting stories that make it easy to see ourselves as part of them, and this sweet story, with its tiny bit of the forbidden, had me from the first chapter.

One of the things that I like best about Lauren’s female characters is that they’re doing just fine on their own. To a person, they are smart, sassy, capable, and funny, and I love that, while they can always hold their own, they are also soft enough to meet the men right where they need to be met. Abby and Simon are more than employee and employer, more than a younger woman falling for an older guy. First and foremost, they are both concerned for the well-being of Hayden, and, from that, a true friendship grows. Sure, it’s a friendship that is paired with some sizzling chemistry, but that’s what makes THE SEXY ONE so yummy.

This book is an easy 5-stars for me, and the only thing that it could have been was longer, because I so enjoyed the relationship between Simon and Abby. Always a bonus for me is the fact that there is the usual crossover with folks from Lauren’s other books, and those Easter eggs that show up and make me smile, because they remind me of other stories, other series, of Lauren’s that I love. I think it’s pretty clear that I am a big LB fan, and that I adored this book. It’s a definite must-read if you’re a fan of the rom-com books, so add it to your TBR and enjoy.

In her line of work, Sidney Frayne is used to guys hitting on her in bars, but Jared gets her hot enough to burst into flames. When he’s wining and dining her, he’s sophisticated as hell; on the rink, he’s a testosterone-fueled powerhouse. Still, Sidney’s bitter divorce taught her to keep her emotions on ice. Dream Maker

Nashville Nights Series – Book 2

By Erin McCarthy

Buy: Amazon / B & N / ITunes

Synopsis

The bestselling author of Heart Breaker returns with another sultry Nashville Nights novel of country hits and stolen kisses, as a one-night stand turns into the beginning of an irresistible partnership.

Shane Hart loves the ladies. Like hit records, he can never have too many. Shane swore long ago never to treat a woman the way his abusive father treated his mother, but his traumatic past has kept him from making any solid commitments—even to a fiery redhead like Avery O’Leery. Shane’s happy enough to rescue her from a tight spot, but that’s as far as their connection goes—until their unforgettable liaison has him rethinking his impulse to love ’em and leave ’em.

Avery has big plans: first, shake the dust of small-town Kentucky from her boots; second, become a bona fide songwriter; and third, keep the truth hidden about her birth father from everyone in Nashville. Nowhere on that list is she supposed to land in bed with a sexy stranger who rescues her off the street at midnight, especially if that stranger is Shane Hart. Avery’s trying not to fall for the dreamy music producer who could make or break her career. But her best-laid plans seem to be no match for a love that feels like destiny.

Michel’s Review

Erin McCarthy has her mojo back.  Dream Maker is the second book in the Nashville Nights series.  It is a winner.  I liked this book much better than the first book in the series and felt that special blend of magic Erin always puts into her books.

Shane Hart rescues a damsel in distress.  The damsel in distress, Avery O’ Leary, was abandoned on the side of the road by her ex boyfriend.  Avery came to Nashville as an aspiring songwriter.  She also brought her secrets with her.  The last thing she wants is to seem like an optunist when music producer Shane Hart rescues her.  The problem is that she really likes Shane as a person.  She wants to be around this dynamic man.

Shane Hart is a great guy even though he is anti relationship.  His childhood left Shane scarred and fearful that he could not live up to commitment.  The heart wants what it wants and he is rethinking his views on relationships.

Shane and Avery have undeniable chemistry, the one thing that makes it even better is they both truly like one another.  Shane has to get over his issues and Avery has to get over her secret before they can move forward together.  They are connected in more ways than a budding friendship.

I truly enjoyed this book and felt the characters come alive off the pages.  It wasn’t loaded down with angst and strife.  It was a genuine romance.

Michel’s Review

After having read all the previous books in The Pilot Hockey Series by Sophia Henry, I can honestly say I did not see this book coming.  Like the previous books, this book had a unique, emotional storyline that steps outside of the typical sports themed romance genre. Reader’s were introduced to both the leading characters in the first book, Delayed Penalty. Although they were secondary characters, they each had interesting dynamics to their personalities.  Readers were left with some distinct impressions that were definitely misleading once their true personalities are exposed in Unsportsmanlike Conduct.  I walked away with a bad impression of Pavel in the first book and fell for him in this book.  I didn’t have a lasting impression of Kristen in the first book but walked away from this book with a lot of respect, compassion, and admiration of her character.  I admired her inner strength and honest outlook of her life.

Kristen Katsaros has a mantra of making every moment worthwhile.  She lives every day like it is her last.  She has very validating reasons for living life the way she does.  She has dealt with a debilitating disease all of her life.  She has to manage her health every moment and be prepared for the worst.  Those good moments are the ones that count.

A gift of a cruise from her parents is just what she needed until she finds out that the guy they want her to marry is also on the cruise.  She doesn’t need a husband, she needs the freedom to explore all the possibilities her life has to offer.  When a gorgeous guy pretends to be her boyfriend throughout the cruise, it makes it a vacation of a lifetime.

What happens on vacation quickly bleeds into the everyday realities of life.  Pavel/Pasha and Kristen are connected in more ways than a vacation romance.  The realities of Kristen’s life are not going to change Pavel/Pasha’s course.  He knows what it takes to go all the way, he’s determined to win Kristen’s complete heart, and will do everything within his power including Unsportsmanlike Conduct.

Although this book had some heavy subject matter, it was still a charming romance.  I walked away with a different perspective of the characters.  I also walked away with more compassion of those who suffer from CF.

Scrambling to earn tuition money, she’s relieved to find a gig translating for a Russian minor-league hockey player—until she realizes that he’s the same dangerously sexy jerk who propositioned her at the bar the night before.

Equal parts muscle and scar tissue, Aleksandr Varenkov knows about trauma. Maybe that’s what draws him to Auden. He also lost his family too young, and he channeled the pain into his passions: first hockey, then vodka and women. But all that seems to just melt away the instant he kisses Auden and feels a jolt of desire as sudden and surprising as a hard check on the ice.

After everything she’s been through, Auden can’t bring herself to trust any man, let alone a hot-headed puck jockey with a bad reputation. Aleksandr just hopes she’ll give him a chance—long enough to prove he’s finally met the one who makes him want to change.

Landon isn’t afraid of telling Gaby that he’s got it for her bad. The problem is, she seems unwilling to believe it. And though Landon enjoys his reputation as a cool-headed athlete, he hates losing—both on the rink and off. It’s his competitiveness that makes him so damn good at what he does . . . but it also makes him just a little bit complicated.

Women are disappearing. What is happening when they step into The Light?

Nine months ago, Sara Adams awoke with no memory. The man holding her hand told her she’s a member of The Light, a tight-knit religious group led by the terrifying and charismatic Father Gabriel. As a woman in the community of The Light, her duty is to be unquestionably obedient and to submit to the will of her husband.

But as Sara’s memory starts to return and she remembers her past, she sees that everything she’s been told is a lie. The Light is an insidious and dangerous organization, and its corrupting influence reaches well beyond the confines of the remote campus where Sara is being held.

With everything at stake, Sara struggles to sort out her true memories from her indoctrination. The desire to escape consumes her, but who can she trust? And what other followers of The Light were forced into this life, brainwashed to believe they belonged? The more she remembers, the mort it becomes clear that Jacob, the man who calls himself her husband, is keeping shattering secrets of his own.

But Sara cannot flee alone, leaving innocents behind. She must fight to extinguish The Light.

Sara

Shrill screams echoed throughout our dimly lit bedroom, accelerating my heartbeat and pulling me from the terrible nightmare. I waited for more, until the realization struck. The screams were my own.

“Jacob?” I called, my voice shaking with dread as I reached for my husband. Instead of reassurance, my fingers met cold empty sheets. He was gone—still away at another campus.

What just happened? Was it a dream?

I clung to the covers as I puffed my cheeks and slowly exhaled. While each breath helped to still the chaos, the exercise wasn’t enough.

Who am I? Who is he?

Jacob’s questions from months ago came back. They were my security. They’d worked before.

I am Sara Adams and my husband is Jacob Adams.

Pushing the images from my dream, or nightmare, away, I imagined Jacob’s comforting embrace. Slowly I threw back the down comforter and willed the cool air to soothe my perspiration-drenched skin. From the way my heart galloped in my chest, I might have been running a marathon, not sleeping.

In my sleep I’d been battling to escape a vehicle, and then an explosion of heat.
It had been a dream, I reassured myself—a nightmare. The accident I’d had, nearly nine months before, had been different. I couldn’t remember it, but I’d been told that I’d been injured and gone unconscious. In the nightmare I had been out and away from the wreckage.

I shook my head.

It seemed so real.

In my dream I hadn’t been able to see past the darkness, yet I’d known I wasn’t injured.
My arms surrounded my midsection as the memories replayed like pictures in my mind. Someone was hurting me—purposely harming me, and there was a voice—a deep voice.

Jacob’s voice?

No. He wouldn’t hurt me.

My entire body shuddered as goose bumps peppered my skin. Sitting upright, I reached for the bedside lamp. With trembling fingers I turned the knob and my eyes adjusted as the soft light combined with the sun’s perpetual summer glow.

I closed my eyes and tried to concentrate on Jacob’s questions.

Who am I? Who is he?

This time I said the words aloud, praying that if I spoke the truth, the images would disappear. “I am Sara Adams. He is my husband, Jacob Adams.” I pulled myself from the bed and walked to the bathroom. Turning on the light and the faucet, I cupped the cool water and splashed my face. As I reached for the cup and began to fill it, a metaphoric dam that had been constructed to hold back my past burst.

My mind was flooded—no longer with simple images, but with scene after scene.

For the first time since I could recall, I knew the woman in the mirror.

I knew me.

Robin’s Review

Have you been “Aleatha’d”? It’s a phenomenon experienced by those of us who have finished reading an Aleatha Romig novel. You’re in shock. Left with SO many questions. Wondering…..what the heck just happened? This is EXACTLY how I felt after finishing the first book of The Light series, Into the Light. Thank goodness we are now able to find the answers to all of our questions with the release of Away from the Dark, the final installment of Romig’s mystery/psychological thriller duology.

It’s been nine months since Sara Adams woke up without her memory at the Northern Light. Her husband, Jacob, nursed Sara back to health and filled in all of the blanks – teaching her about the ways of The Light. Father Gabriel’s doctrine. The obedience and submission expected from his spouse. Her role as the wife of an Assemblyman. Sara carefully studied the doctrine, faithfully attended services, and during those nine months, she fell in love with Jacob.

Jacob doesn’t know this, but Sara’s memories from before have recently been slipping through, and now she questions everything – her feelings for Jacob, who she is, and who she can trust. Lies. Everything she’s been told is a lie, and Sara realizes her life is in danger. The Light is a dangerous and far-reaching organization, and somehow, Sara needs to escape. And, if she can escape, will Sara be able to protect those who are innocent while she brings down Father Gabriel and The Light?

Romig begins this novel with Sara, one week prior to the events which conclude Into the Light. At the end of the first book, I was left with some pressing questions concerning Sara, and Romig gets right to the point. True to her writing style, Romig unfolds her story in layers. For me, this means the answers we are given just lead to more questions. I find Romig’s writing style entertaining. She is careful to reveal pertinent details about the plot and characters at just the right moments – answering our questions about Sara, Jacob, Stella Montgomery, Dylan Richards, Father Gabriel and the organization known as The Light.

Romig alternates between Sara and Jacob’s first person perspectives throughout most of the novel, but later in the book she adds the first person perspective of Dylan Richards. Adding Dylan’s point of view was a great move, opening my eyes to a whole new layer of the story.

Romig did a fantastic job of developing her primary characters. Jacob and Sara’s natural personalities consistently fight brainwashing throughout the entire story, which makes this story feel authentic. After regaining her memory, Sara continues to struggle with being submissive and not questioning, while her naturally strong personality has a tendency to question everything. Jacob struggles with the need to dominate and “correct” Sara, while his natural tendency is to protect her and treat her as an equal. It’s absolutely brilliant.

In summary, I feel the strength of Away from the Dark lies in the writing and character development. The story is also unique and very creative, as Romig’s always are. Aleatha Romig leaves readers with a finish that is open-ended, which I never like to see. I’m not sure if Romig’s intention is to write more story in the future or if it’s left to the reader to decide what happens next. Either way, I would have personally loved more closure to this series, and I think this held me back from going with a 6-star rating for Away from the Dark. Even so, I REALLY enjoyed reading Away from the Dark and The Light series! If you love mysteries and/or dark psychological thrillers, I highly recommend it! Five stars.

Michel’s Review

Away From The Dark by Aleatha Romig is the second book in The Light Series.  It should not be read as a stand alone novel.  It is the stunning conclusion of the first book, Into The Light.

Away From The Dark begins one week prior to where Into The Light left off.  Aleatha quickly brings the reader up to date, filling in the blanks of how Sara fell into the predicament that once again put her in danger with The Light.

Away From The Dark differs from the first book in presentation and delivery.  Rather than getting background that led Sara to The Light, the reader is getting a more in depth insight of The Light itself.  Questions are answered as to what The Light really is and how The Light obtains new members.  The very thorough revelations drive the story and validate the momentum building in the intense conclusion.

Readers also get more insight to who Jacob Adams really is and how he obtained his status within the community.  The readers are also given an in depth insight into Father Gabriel, the Assemblymen, and the inner workings of The Light.  This is where Dylan Richards becomes an integral part of the story.  His connections to The Light are revealed. His role within the organization is shocking.

What I found most fascinating about this series was the immersion into an occult.  The brainwashing of intelligent individuals had me mesmerized.  Even though Jacob and Stella were both strong willed and undercover within The Light, they both struggled with their real personalities and the personalities they took on within the fellowship.  They were each two separate people within one mind.  Their two separate personalities battled with one another even though they consciously knew who they really were.

Away From The Dark was fast paced and brilliantly delivered.  Each revelation was perfectly synchronized to drive the story forward while having an enthralling shock factor. It was a page turner.

While I was completely mesmerized with The Light series, the ending left me a little stupefied.  Away From The Dark had an opened ending that didn’t give the readers complete closure.  I’m not sure if Aleatha intends to take this series in a new direction or if readers are to conclude the ending for themselves.  Personally I was satisfied with Jacob and Sara’s ending.  I am not sure if I want to pursue the next transition of The Shadows.  Their part in the story was surreal and bit too much.  This is what held me back from giving this book 6 Stars.  Overall… The Light Series is a 2016 Favorite.

There she uncovers something more sinister than she could have imagined: a shadowy organization known as The Light, led by the enigmatic Father Gabriel.

As Sara struggles to understand her place in these strange world she’s awakened to—an oppressive cult demanding unquestioning obedience—and her feelings for Jacob, the husband she can’t recall and whose harsh and tender attentions confuse and beguile her, Stella risks all to discover the truth. But enlightenment always comes with a price…

royally-screwed-for-webEmma Chase, New York Times bestselling author of the Tangled Series & Legal Briefs Series, returns with the first of three sizzling standalone books about a family of racy, irresistible Royals.

Nicholas Arthur Frederick Edward Pembrook, Crowned Prince of Wessco, aka “His Royal Hotness”, is wickedly charming, devastatingly handsome, and unabashedly arrogant—hard not to be when people are constantly bowing down to you.

Then, one snowy night in Manhattan, the prince meets a dark haired beauty who doesn’t bow down. Instead, she throws a pie in his face.

Nicholas wants to find out if she tastes as good as her pie, and this heir apparent is used to getting what he wants.

***

Dating a prince isn’t what waitress Olivia Hammond ever imagined it would be.

There’s a disapproving queen, a wildly inappropriate spare heir, relentless paparazzi, and brutal public scrutiny. While they’ve traded in horse drawn carriages for Rolls Royces and haven’t chopped anyone’s head off lately—the royals are far from accepting of this commoner.

But to Olivia—Nicholas is worth it.

***

Nicholas grew up with the whole world watching, and now Marriage Watch is in full force. In the end, Nicholas has to decide who he is, but more importantly, who he wants to be: a King… or the man who gets to love Olivia forever.

Excerpt

“I have a plan.”

We’re in the library of the suite. Nicholas is behind the desk, his hair falling still damp over his forehead from a recent shower, while James and Tommy stand near the windows.

“Take off your clothes,” I say, dropping a stuffed backpack at my feet.

He stands, giving me a curious, dimple-flashing smile that makes my stomach tingle.

“I like this plan.”

He pulls his shirt over his head—and at the sight of that gorgeous chest and ripped abs, I have to close my mouth to stop the flow of drool.

“Should I send the lads to their room?” he asks.

I toss him a Beastie Boys T-shirt and ripped jeans from the backpack. “They can stay—I’ll get to them in a second.”

Nicholas puts on the outfit, his disguise for the day. I hold up a thick gold chain with a dangling cross, and he dips his head so I can loop it over his neck. Then I squirt gel into my hand and reach up on tiptoes to rub it through his hair—mussing it at the top and slicking the sides.

Perfect.

“Do you know how to drive a motorcycle?”

“Yes.”

“Excellent.” I pull a helmet with a full, tinted face shield out of the backpack and hold it up. “Marty’s bike is downstairs. He said to tell you: break it, you bought…a Ducati.”

Logan steps into the room from where he was stationed just outside the door, lifting his hand, like a traffic cop. “Hold on, now—”

Nicholas takes the helmet. “It’ll be fine, Logan.”

“And,” I say cautiously, turning to the three big, strong, probably-have-a-license-to-kill boys. “I want Nicholas and me to go on this outing alone. You guys stay here.”

“Jesus, Mary and Joseph.” Tommy says.

James makes the sign of the cross.

Logan takes another route. “No fuckin’ way. Not possible.”

But the look on Nicholas’s face says it’s definitely possible.

“No,” Logan insists again, his voice straining with a faint hint of desperation.

“I have an itinerary.” I take the sealed envelope out of the backpack and hand it to Logan. “I wrote everything down for you, just in case—exactly where we’ll be, every minute.” When he starts to tear it open I put my hand on his. “You can’t open it until after we’re gone—it’ll ruin the surprise. But I promise it will be all right. I swear on my life.”

My eyes drift from Logan to Nicholas. “Trust me.”

And I want him to—so much. I want to do this for him, give him something he hasn’t had. Something he’ll remember always: freedom.

Nicholas looks at the helmet, then at Logan. “What’s the worst that could happen?”

“Ah…you could get assassinated and the three of us will hang for treason.”

“Don’t be silly,” Nicholas scoffs. “We haven’t hung anyone in years.” He smacks Logan’s back. “It’d be the firing squad.”

Michel’s Review

As little girls we were introduced to all of the romantic Prince Charmings.  Our first romantic fantasies revolve around Prince Charming.  We are princesses waiting for our prince to sweep us off our feet and ride into happily ever after.  The years go by, we become mature women that look at the world with different perspectives.  Our dreams and fantasies have changed due to maturity and life experiences.  Deep down inside we are still those little princesses pursuing our happily ever after.  Emma Chase has delightfully fed our “prince charming” fantasies  with a mature and entertaining rendition of Royally Happily Ever Afters.  Prince Nicholas Arthur Frederick Edward Pembrook, Crown Prince of Wessco, has all of the princesses lined up, hoping for a chance to become his queen.

Nicholas has been ordered to marry by his grandmother, the Queen of Wessco.  It will be good for the country’s political issues. It will save the monarchy.  She has given him five months to find a bride.  She has also given him another impossible task, to rein his younger brother, Prince Henry John Edgar Thomas Pembrook, in and bring him home to Wessco where he belongs.  Prince Henry is on a party crusade, making it his mission to engage in debauchery and life in the fast lane.  He is currently heading to Manhattan and Nicholas is tasked with bringing him home.  Although Nicholas hates traveling to New York, he sees it as a reprieve from the Queen’s first command.  He fully intends to take a few notes from his brother’s journey and enjoy the last five months of bachelorhood.

Prince Nicholas drunkenly stumbles into Amelia’s Coffee House in Brooklyn, New York, he has no idea that his bachelor days are over.  Proprieter Olivia Hammond, a snarky New Yorker, has more than just great pie.  He’s willing to pay ten thousand dollars for a night with her.  When she blatantly refuses his generous offer, he counter offers five thousand for a kiss.  What he gets is a verbal lashing, the check, and escort to the door.  No woman has ever turned him down.  This makes him even more determined and intrigued with the beautiful pie maker.

Thus begins the courtship of the Royal couple.  It’s a beautiful whirlwind romance until reality barges in.  Prince Henry is out of control and gets himself in hot water.  The Queen has summoned both Prince’s home.  Nicholas is determined to take Olivia with him and keep her by his side until his five months are up.

Olivia has to decide whether she wants five months of pure happiness or spend the rest of her life regretting every missed moment.

Either way, both Prince Nicholas and Olivia Hammond are Royally Screwed.  Romance and Royalty don’t always go together like the fairytales every girl dreams about.

Emma Chase has once again delivered an outstanding swoon worthy romance.  The combination of humor, vulnerability, romance, and extraordinary characters make Royally Screwed the perfect adult fairytale .

I can’t wait for Prince Henry to receive his royal decree in the upcoming book in the Royally Series.

Tracey’s Review

Well, dang. I love Melody Grace. I know, when I start one of her books, that it will be full of love, trial, lots of heat, and, ultimately, the proverbial happily ever after. That last part is a given, and it’s one of the reasons that I grab and devour everything she writes.

And, now, THE PROMISE. Trademark Melody, from the relatable characters to the razor-sharp dialogue, the humor, the gang of friends that rounds out the story. But, oh, goodness, the feels in this one. Truly, I’m still picking up the pieces of my heart, folks, because Melody got me good with this book. I can’t remember the last time I cried this much while reading a love story, and I’m sure that I will be suffering with a book hangover for quite some time.

I don’t want to give away any of the plot, because you truly need to experience this book as it unfolds. Let me just say that THE PROMISE is far different from any book that Melody has written to date, and, while it devastated me, it was a beautiful beautiful part of her that I am happy to have experienced. Love, happiness, despair, loss, they’re all here. But what stands out the most, and what will remain, is that love surprises us when we’re least expecting it, and that life is a gift not to be squandered, but to be grabbed and lived with abandon, gusto, and joy. 5+ stars for this, one of my favorites of 2016. Grab your copy, and your box of tissues, and dive in to THE PROMISE.

Corrupted Hearts Series- Book 1

By Tiffany Snow

Buy: Amazon

Synopsis

Brilliant, quirky twenty-three-year-old China Mack is totally satisfied with her carefully ordered, data-driven life. A computer prodigy who landed a coveted programming job at the cutting-edge tech company Cysnet before even graduating from MIT, China is happiest when following her routine: shower before coffee, pizza only on Mondays, bedtime at ten thirty sharp.

But then things start to get a little…unpredictable.

First Jackson Cooper—Cysnet’s rich, gorgeous, genius CEO—assigns China to a dangerous and highly classified project for a government defense contractor. Her sixteen-year-old runaway niece suddenly arrives in town, begging to move in with China. And then there’s her sexy but oddly unsettling new neighbor, Clark…

Quickly the Cysnet assignment becomes disconcerting—and then downright scary—as key staffers turn up dead. China suspects she’s being followed and isn’t sure whom she can trust. For the first time ever, she’ll have to follow her instincts, rather than logic, if she’s going to survive.

Michel’s Review

Follow Me by Tiffany Snow is the first book in The Corrupted series.  I have to say that this series has caught my attention and may end up being my favorite series by the incredible writer Tiffany Snow.  That is saying a lot because I have loved everything I have read by Tiffany Snow and give her books high praising reviews.  She is the queen of romantic suspense.  She is the supreme goddess of creating love triangles that leave the readers in love with both men, wanting each one to win the girl.  The one thing that stands out in the Corrupted series and sets it apart from Tiffany’s other series is the leading female character, China Mack.  China Mack has become my favorite female character of all time.  I love her brilliance, her analytic mind, her quirky tastes, her odd OCD moments, and her clueless sense of romance.  She is a breath of fresh air in the fictional world.  It’s no wonder that she has captured the attention of two very different dynamic men.  What she does with that attention is entertaining, comical, and brilliant.  I want to be China Mack!

China Mack is a certified genius. Cysnet snapped her up before she graduated from MIT.  CEO of Cysnet, Jackson Cooper ( who is almost as brilliant ) has assigned China a top secret job ( not that all of her jobs were already top secret- nothing unusual) where she will be strictly working with him.  They are working on a high security project for Wyndemere, a defense contractor for the government.  The project is highly sensitive and bodies have already started dropping.  Not only is this new project going to create disorder in China’s work routine, it is going to change her predictable ordered life.  The only problem she has had in life is keeping her pet fish alive.

Working on the Wyndemere project with Jackson Cooper is not the only interruption in the carefully, quirky ordered life of China Mack.  Her sixteen year old brilliant niece, Mia, has run away from home and come to live with China.  She is a lot like China in her IQ and brilliance but where she differs is that she is a normal teenager who likes normal teenage things.  This is something China cannot relate to.  China also has problems with the typical teenage habits such as make up and clothes all over the place, spontaneous decisions, and rose colored romantic notions.  Her home has been invaded by a mutant teenage alien known as her niece Mia.  Her life size Iron Man figurine has to be moved from her office so her Mia can have a place to sleep.  That just won’t work and has China in a tailspin.

The third disruption in China’s perfectly ordered life comes from the new sexy neighbor, who looks just like Superman, that moved in next door.  To top it off… his name is Clark!  Clark is expressing interest in China beyond friendship.  Mia is playing matchmaker and trying to make China her very own Eliza Doolittle.  China has no clue about romance or dating.  It’s a disaster in the making.

China’s world is spinning out of control.  Her job at Wydemere has become extremely dangerous.  Her assigned team is disappearing.  The body count is going up.  Her boss Jackson is not who she thought he was.  He may be conspiring with the enemy.  The big question is who exactly is the enemy?  Is it our government, other governments, terrorists, or who knows what else?  One moment Jackson seems on the up and up.  He has also expressed romantic interest in China and she wonders exactly what is up with that.  That leads to Clark, he may be an enemy as well.  He is not the human relations business man he presented himself to be.

Her world is out of control.  Her life is in danger.  Not only does she have to protect herself but also her niece Mia.  Mia has become collateral in China’s world.

The only thing China can do is fight back using her brilliance.  What’s next….CLIFFHANGER!

BRILLIANT START IN THE CORRUPTED HEARTS SERIES!  Tiffany Snow has me hooked!

About Tiffany Snow

TiffanySnowI love to stick with characters over a series of books when I read, which is the same way I write. My first series – THE KATHLEEN TURNER SERIES – includes five books, two companion novels, and features a love triangle. My new series, coming from Montlake Romance December 16, 2014, is the TANGLED IVY TRILOGY, beginning with IN HIS SHADOW.
As for me, I’ve been reading romance novels since I was way too young to read such things, have an unhealthy obsession for all things Doctor Who, prefer Pepsi to Coke and Absolut to both, think men who drink girly cocktails are wusses, have learned to never stop believing in my beloved St. Louis Cardinals, and can recite the entire scripts of When Harry Met Sally and Apollo 13. George Washington is cool, Bon Jovi still rocks the house, and Bruce Willis is the ultimate alpha-male hero. Most of all, romance never, ever gets old.
