New Release + Review: Dream Maker by Erin McCarthy – Nashville Nights Series – Book 2

Dream Maker

Nashville Nights Series – Book 2

By Erin McCarthy

Buy: Amazon / B & N / ITunes

The bestselling author of Heart Breaker returns with another sultry Nashville Nights novel of country hits and stolen kisses, as a one-night stand turns into the beginning of an irresistible partnership.

Shane Hart loves the ladies. Like hit records, he can never have too many. Shane swore long ago never to treat a woman the way his abusive father treated his mother, but his traumatic past has kept him from making any solid commitments—even to a fiery redhead like Avery O’Leery. Shane’s happy enough to rescue her from a tight spot, but that’s as far as their connection goes—until their unforgettable liaison has him rethinking his impulse to love ’em and leave ’em.

Avery has big plans: first, shake the dust of small-town Kentucky from her boots; second, become a bona fide songwriter; and third, keep the truth hidden about her birth father from everyone in Nashville. Nowhere on that list is she supposed to land in bed with a sexy stranger who rescues her off the street at midnight, especially if that stranger is Shane Hart. Avery’s trying not to fall for the dreamy music producer who could make or break her career. But her best-laid plans seem to be no match for a love that feels like destiny.

Michel’s Review

Erin McCarthy has her mojo back.  Dream Maker is the second book in the Nashville Nights series.  It is a winner.  I liked this book much better than the first book in the series and felt that special blend of magic Erin always puts into her books.

Shane Hart rescues a damsel in distress.  The damsel in distress, Avery O’ Leary, was abandoned on the side of the road by her ex boyfriend.  Avery came to Nashville as an aspiring songwriter.  She also brought her secrets with her.  The last thing she wants is to seem like an optunist when music producer Shane Hart rescues her.  The problem is that she really likes Shane as a person.  She wants to be around this dynamic man.

Shane Hart is a great guy even though he is anti relationship.  His childhood left Shane scarred and fearful that he could not live up to commitment.  The heart wants what it wants and he is rethinking his views on relationships.

Shane and Avery have undeniable chemistry, the one thing that makes it even better is they both truly like one another.  Shane has to get over his issues and Avery has to get over her secret before they can move forward together.  They are connected in more ways than a budding friendship.

I truly enjoyed this book and felt the characters come alive off the pages.  It wasn’t loaded down with angst and strife.  It was a genuine romance.

Title: Heart Breaker
Series: Nashville Nights #1
Author: Erin McCarthy
Publisher: Loveswept
Genre: Contemporary Western Romance

Date: May 17, 2016

They’re perfectly in tune—but only when it comes to their music. This sizzling romance from New York Times bestselling author Erin McCarthy follows Nashville’s hottest country music duo as they fight for love in a city where dreams often cost a broken heart. Self-made singer/songwriter Jolene Hart loves everything about being on top in Nashville. Well, everything except her very public breakup with Chance Rivers, her sexy masculine other half. Once the hottest duo on the scene, they turned Music City on its ear. Now their careers are as cold as their relationship. Which is why their manager has practically locked them in a remote cabin with nothing but a guitar, a bed, and time to do what they do best: make some beautiful music together. As Nashville royalty, Chance has big boots to fill—and the pressure that comes with ’em. He fell hard for Jolene, but he couldn’t handle the spotlight, the crowds, and the fights that made headlines and killed any notion that love and success could go hand-in-hand. Still, Chance is more than willing to rekindle the one thing that worked: the wild passion behind their hit songs. Soon they’re making up for lost time, in the steamiest ways possible. But Chance finds himself wishing for the impossible: that their intimate hideaway could last forever.

Michel’s Review
There’s nothing like a good ole country song that doesn’t touch the heart in some way.  The lyrics emote feelings of love, loss, struggling relationships, and family ties. Add the truck, the dog, and beer and it becomes an instant hit.
Erin McCarthy’s latest release, Heartbreaker, is the epitome of country music.  Chance and Jolene are a wreck waiting to happen.  Their love/ hate relationship ties into the country music business.  With a grammy behind them and a guitar in the swimming pool, their musical and romantic relationship is in the outhouse.  The dynamic duo is quickly becoming a has been in Nashville before their careers actually had more than one album behind them.  Neither of their solo musical careers are catching radio attention.  Their manager is forcing them back together to create the magic their music had together.  Sending them to a remote cabin could be the right formula or a disaster in the making.
This is Chance and Jolene’s second chance for their musical careers.  It is also their second chance at love.  First they must put aside their anger and pride before their hearts can make the love song they were intended to create.
I have to be honest and say that I really had trouble connecting with Chance and Jolene.  They were both bull headed, immature, and selfish.  Their volatile relationship had me reeling.  The on again, off again twists and turns had me irritated.  In the end they finally got it together and found a way to love each other.  The thing is the journey there had me more irritated than enjoying the ride.
I’m sure there are a lot of readers that will enjoy this kind of angst.  For me I wanted more emotion and soul bearing moments.

Final Lap is the last book in the beloved Fast Track series by Erin McCarthy.  The Fast Track series has ran a great race and will be forever in the winner circle of favorite book series.  We have met the sexy Nascar driver’s and watched them get out lapped by strong sexy woman.  These guys definitely know how to drive like champions in the bedroom.  This series is loaded with excitement, quirky characters, fast humor, and sexy romances. It’s sad to see this series end.

Final Lap is the grand finale of the series.  It starts out at Imogen Wilson and Ty McCordle’s wedding (book 2 in series).  There Harley McLain meets the sexy driver Cooper Brickman.  Naturally being a conservative, somewhat shy, and motherly type, she gains Cooper’s attention for all the wrong reasons.  He sees her as someone to unload all his difficulties raising his twelve year old sister.  He seeks her advice once she lets on that she is nanny professionally.  Harley does not want to be seen as the motherly type for once in her life.  She wants to be seen as a sexy woman like her twin sister.

What’s a girl to do when she wants to be sexy Cinderella?  The twin swap of coarse.  All she wants is one hot night with Cooper Brickman.  And Cooper Brickman is the perfect playboy prince to fill Cinderella.

After her fairytale night with Cooper, life is back to normal.  That is until Cooper convinces her to come to work as a nanny for his twelve year old sister.

Cooper’s twelve year old sister is smarter than the two of them put together.  Her shenanigans will turn the house upside down, send them both into a spin, and open their eyes to what is most important.  They will form a beautiful friendship that turns into love.  They will find a perfect balance in their odd little family.  All will be well until Cooper admits he slept with her twin sister.

Betweem the twin swap and Cooper’s horrible mother this couple will go through the wringer.  It will look like their love is out of the race.  But true love and family unity will save the day.  Cooper and Harley will burn up the sheets and complete the Final Lap.

All the beloved characters from this series will make appearances throughout the book.  They will all end up being winners in the Final Lap.

Thank you Erin McCarthy for this sizzling hot series.

ARC Review: Shatter by Erin McCarthy-True Believers Series- Book 4

True Believers Series- Book 4

Genre: New Adult

By Erin McCarthy

Michel’s Review

Kylie Warner has been the rainbows and sunshine personality of the group. Her positive attitude and optimistic outlook on life has been the inspiration for her friends. But after her boyfriend cheated on her with one of her best friends, she is struggling to hold herself together. She has moved out on her own and her academics are suffering. She is failing Chemistry and needs a tutor.

When she meets Darwin, her sexy tattooed tutor, she’s in for a very pleasant surprise. A new kind of Chemistry lesson is taking place. A one night stand is just what she needed to get her spirits up, her self confidence up, and a new outlook towards her new life. This outstanding Chemistry lesson has now led into the very basic Biology lesson. She is pregnant.

Jonathon “Darwin” Kadisch is all about science and equations. Everything in life has a process, a procedure, and an answer. It’s just a matter of research and application. When he finds out he is going to be a father he is a bit stumped. But like anything he has done, he puts himself completely into the equation, researches the avenues to pursue, and is determined to be a good father, unlike his own father.

As the two decide how pursue the unexpected parenthood they find that there is more to it than biological changes, life changes, and financial changes. It’s about changes of the heart. Two polar opposite people will find that their chemistry cannot be defined by a textbook or formula. They will find that matters of the heart create the perfect balance in life.

I loved the relationship between Kylie and Jonathon. Their personalities complemented each other and gave each other something the other was missing. Their banter and corny science jokes made me laugh out loud. Their emotional journey made me ache for them and celebrate with them. When the two come to the realization that they were meant for each other, it became the perfect formula and equation.

Erin McCarthy once again delivered an entertaining and sexy romance. She combined intelligence, wit, and compassion into a story that will have the readers glued to the pages.

I highly recommend Shatter. It can be read as a stand alone novel or in order of the True Believers series. I highly recommend this series.
