JOSH by Eden Summers is part of SECRET CONFESSIONS: BACKSTAGE, a collection of short stories by some fabulous Australian authors. These stories all revolve around the group Screaming Tuesdays, and, rather than focus on the band itself, deal with what goes on around and behind the scenes.

Josh is the security manager for the band. Responsible for making sure that things stay safe and somewhat sane, he’s also part of the group that decides who gets backstage to see the band. Being the head honcho definitely has some perks, but having a conscience makes for an interesting situation. Lori, a sexy brunette who knows just what she wants, makes all the difference, and what began as just another night turns into one of the best that Josh has had in a very long time.

While these hot little stories are short, they’re easy to read and very satisfying, although I would love to see more about Josh and Lori down the road. Eden Summers has done her usual great job of writing about the rockstar way, and I thoroughly enjoyed this one. 4 stars and recommendation to add this one to your TBR.

Once upon a time, a witch met a dragon…

When Fate brings Grayson Hawthorne into Kira Dallaire’s life, she is desperate. Hopeless and almost penniless, she’s about to launch her biggest Very Bad Idea yet, and Grayson is key to its success. But Grayson, bitter and empty, figures Kira for a scheming princess, and is less than interested. Kira is nothing if not persuasive, though, and thus begins GRAYSON’S VOW, the latest in Mia Sheridan’s Sign Of Love series.

I love every single book that Mia writes. She is absolutely one of my go-to authors, and she has outdone herself with this book. Both Kira and Grayson know what it’s like to long for the love and approval of the most important people in their lives. While Grayson is defined by his past, Kira’s answer is to overcome the sadness to create a better reality, something that she is determined to share with him.

“Listen to me, Grayson…There is always pain in this life. Not just for me, not just for you–for everyone. You can’t avoid it. And sometimes the pain is so great, it feels as if it carves out the very essence of who you are. But it doesn’t, not if you don’t allow it to. Mia’s writing is beautiful, symbolic and full of emotion, and I could not stop reading once I began. From the first page through the epilogue, GRAYSON’S VOW is absolutely one of my favorites of hers, and of 2015. And, speaking of the epilogue, it’s always one of my favorite parts of Mia’s books, and this one does not disappoint, as it is truly one of the highlights for me. If I could give this book any more stars, I would, as it is just wonderful. You do not want to miss out on this 6-star heartbreaking, renewing, love-affirming read, so add it now. You will not be sorry.

Judging a Book by it’s Cover:
Yet another naked torso, this one having a stethoscope draped over his shoulders and… is that a towel wrapped around his hips? Leads me to hope he’s not on duty! I opted to read this title based solely on the author and my previous enjoyment of her work.
Looking Deeper:
The main story, originally published in the Night Shift anthology, is just a steamy hot glimpse into the workday of two men that work together. At one NOLA hospital, you’ll find Derek, an ER doctor. Justin, a former soldier, now also works there. They’ve been attracted to one another since day one, but neither made a move toward the other for various reasons. Until now. Without warning, and nevermind any sort of romance of softer emotions, they hook up in one of the closets in a mostly-abandoned part of the hospital. It’s all rather grunt, hiss and caveman-speak at that point; no emotion other than primal urge. But, things aren’t always as they first seem. With a nice little quickie twist, revelations are made. Their shift at the hospital ends on a “Happily Ever After” noted milestone, but it’s the Bonus Content that Ms. Alexander has released with it that truly unfolds the shift into the couples’ lives. These endearing bonus scenes take you from the day they meet to Forever After and grant you the opportunity to see more of the emotional content missing in the original quickie short story.
Both men are very likable. Their chemistry and compatibility is more evident in the bonus content than the original part, but it all does begin to make sense in a clever way towards the last third of the short. There are very few supporting secondaries, most only providing a bit of enrichment filler. Aunt Vera is a riot. The dialogue is fun, smart, and natural. The plot – as a whole -is entertaining, enjoyable, and emotional. There’s just enough content to have some dimension and given this is a novella under 100 pages, even with the added content, it fell like a full and complete story. The overall flow is smooth and a pleasure to read. There is a wonderful twist that I did not see coming and took me a minute to “get”… (in fact, I even read back a few paragraphs to make sure I did not miss something before my brain caught up to the “aha moment) and the conflicts faced were minor and met maturely. The conclusion, with the newly added content, is sound and solid.
If you are looking for a light, fun, and fast male/male romantic read, I’d highly suggest this one.

Cane shook his head, apparently to rid himself of whatever he was thinking. His eyebrows raised, he turned towards me. “So you will have lunch with him and not me? What am I missing here?”

“It’s business. Pretty simple, I think.” I peered out the door, watching Simon’s black Avalanche pull out of the parking lot.

“I can pretend it’s about business, if that’s what you want.”

“Cane,” I warned, turning my head to look at him.

“Lunch with him will not be about business. When I walked in here, that was not about business.”

“Whether it was or it wasn’t is no business of yours.”

Cane blew out a breath, his forehead marred in frustration. “Do you know Simon Powers? Have you dealt with him before?”

“No, I just met him today. Why?”

He looked relieved. “It doesn’t matter. Look, if he needs to see this property again, I want you to call me first, okay?”

“All right. I won’t bring him here without calling you first.”

“I’m going to give you my phone number. If he wants to see this property or becomes a pain in your ass, I want you to call me. Don’t put up with any shit from him and don’t bring him here unless you actually speak to me. Do you understand?”

“You’re making me nervous. What’s going on?”

“There’s nothing to be nervous about,” he said calmly, trying to dissipate the mood he just created. “I just don’t like that guy. I don’t trust him.”

“Whatever you say.”

“I like it when you just do what I say.” His eyes darkened.

“Noted. I have to go, Cane.”

“What’s your phone number?” He placed his hand on the small of my back. I stilled at his touch. A jolt of energy darted through my body, landing at the apex of my thighs. I closed my eyes and just felt for a minute.

“You can get my number from Max,” I said breathily, throwing his words from the night at the restaurant back at him.

Cane spun me around quickly, my back pressed against the wall. He leaned in, his face almost touching mine. I willed myself not to moan, to not give him any inclination that my willpower was melting away.

“Oh, Jada,” he whispered, the warmth of his breath only adding to the riot inside me. “Why do you fight this so hard?”

“Cane …” I tried to formulate a response but words were not accessible.

He smirked, knowing what he was doing to me. “Yes?”

“I … I need to go.”

“You need to. But do you want to?” He searched my eyes with his own. “I know what you want and what you need, baby. Why won’t you trust me?”

My eyes widened, my pulse pounding. He was so close and I wanted more than anything to reach out and pull him up against me.

But I can’t.

He smiled before leaning in, his lips grazing my ear as he whispered, “Why do you fight this? Just give me one night to get you out of my system.”

I turned my head to respond, to explain that was exactly what he wasn’t getting, and our eyes locked. The air between us, so hot and rife with energy, boiled over.

He captured my lips with his own, tentatively at first. I resisted for a split second before succumbing to his charge. His lips moved over mine, a soft juxtaposition to his hard exterior. The heat of the exchange, of him finally touching me, melted me from the inside out.

I opened my mouth, giving him entry, and he took it without hesitation. He explored my mouth with his own lazily, the softness of his tongue making my knees buckle.

I tried to focus, tried to commit everything to memory, because it would only happen once. That would be the first and last time I allowed my defenses to be obliterated by Cane Alexander.

The sound of blood roaring past my ears and the feel of his body, hot and hard against me, made it impossible to concentrate on anything for long. I hesitantly placed my hands on his back, feeling his muscles ripple beneath them.

The sensations were overwhelming and I was on the cusp of bursting at the seams.

Cane pulled back slowly and kissed me lightly on the lips, before retreating far enough away to look into my eyes. There were a hundred emotions playing across his gorgeous face, his eyes a dozen colors of blue.

I looked away, trying to catch my breath. I wasn’t able to figure out my own emotions—I had no business trying to figure out his.

“One night.” He lifted my chin so that my eyes met his. His tongue flicked across his lips.

He only wants one night …

My wits were scattered across the room and I gathered as many of them as I could before responding, “I need to go.”

A look flashed across his face that I couldn’t read. He raised his eyebrows. “That’s all you’re going to say?”

“I don’t know what else you want me to say.” I sidestepped him and made my way to the door. I looked over my shoulder one last time and he changed before my eyes.

The confused, vulnerable look gave way to an impassive, cool veneer. He sat his hands on top of his head and turned away, heading towards the office.

Seeing everything I needed to see, more than enough to convince myself I was doing the right thing, I pushed through the door and didn’t look back.

Jada Stanley is back home in Arizona, having left behind a bad marriage and years of unhappiness. She’s come back to heal and to figure out what life is going to look like from now on. Cane Alexander is your typical hot alpha male, completely satisfied with his life rules, one of the most important of which is that he doesn’t do permanent, no exceptions.

Cane is deliciously full of himself. He knows what he wants, and it’s seldom that he doesn’t get it. Even though he comes across as a real piece of work, it’s hard not like him, because, well, the bad boys are just hotter. He is a bit of a a puzzle, though, and learning more about him during the course of the story just makes him that much more loveable. Jada has always had a thing for the guys that she shouldn’t; her ex, Decker, had shown her that. She is determined to make a new life for herself, and is absolutely not looking to hook up with Cane, who has ‘trouble’ written all over him.

I really enjoyed ‘The Exception.’ Adriana Locke is new to the romance scene, and she has done a really nice job of weaving together multiple storylines, giving readers not only hot and sexy romance, but mystery and intrigue, along with a story of healing and redemption. Once I started reading, I had to keep going just to find out how the action would play out, and the subplot had me on the edge of my seat, anxious to see how it would be resolved. I also really enjoyed the supporting characters, especially Kari and Max. They added so much personality to the story, and I really hope that she will do a follow-up story for them. I look forward to reading more from Adriana, and would happily read and recommend her books.

Stupid Love by Cindy Miles is the third book in the outstanding New Adult series, Stupid In Love. This book once again revisits the crew at Winston University and introduces the readers to a new group of college friends. In Stupid Love, the old cast of characters will make appearances throughout the book. It’s like homecoming in a more mature setting.

Memory Thibodeaux is the campus wild girl. She’s known for her daring antics, carefree spirit, and party girl reputation. She dates frequently but never settles with one guy. She is the equivalent of a player without being a whore. Her mantra is to live life to the fullest every day. She has this mantra for good reason. She has flirted with death in her early years and won the round. She knows death can come knocking at any time without an invitation or reason. She is determined to experience everything life has to offer before death chases her down once again. She’s not so sure she win the next round.

Wow! Emma James has joined my favorite authors list and is definitely my favorite new author of 2015. I was blown away by her Men of Ocean Beach books. I was excited to see that she had a new series releasing that had a biker theme. In my mind I was expecting an emotional type of story rather than a dark thriller. Emma James does dark just as well as she does emotional.

Wrenched took me by complete surprise. I was expecting a story that revolved around the Hell’s Bastard MC. What the reader got was much more complex.

Whisper is a young woman that has been held in depraved captivity since her infant years. She has never experienced a normal, loving life. She has been a victim all her life. Rather than letting her life circumstances beat her down, she allowed it to strengthen her for the day when she was either freed or dead. In all reality it looked like death was going to be the ultimate ending for her. Freedom comes at an unexpected moment but not without a price. Now she is a young woman that is lost in the world. She has no past and could very well have no future. But she’s free. She has found new people who care for her and are watching her back.

Edge is the most brutal enforcer in the Hell’s Bastard MC. He’s the judge, jury, and executioner. He is one of the most feared men in his dark world. Edge didn’t become this brutal and lethal man by choice. He had a horrific childhood in which he escaped. He vowed he would one day return and dispense his brand of justice on his father. Fate took that away from him. His father died and it was not by his hand. His father screwed him over one more time in his death when he left the whore, Whisper, his entire estate except for the $100 he left his natural born son. Edge is hunting down Whisper. She took his inheritance. It’s not about the money. It’s about the theft of his justice. His justice is going to knock on Whisper’s door.

As the old saying goes “read between the lines” and “all is not black and white” definitely applies in this story. All is not how it seems. There is a more tangled plot than a depraved man destroying two young lives. This depraved man was playing a game of chess and in the end, his king will not be taken. He had the foresight to destroy them both in his death.

Wrenched ended on a major cliffhanger that left me chilled to the bone.

Emma James created a complex plot that could be described as a tangled web. Wrenched was just the beginning and introduction to a very twisted complex story. The writing is brilliant. I believe that once the Hell’s Bastard Series is complete, it will easily be a 6 Star series.

Wrenched is a superb dark thriller!

It is no secret that The Artist Trilogy by Karina Halle is one of my all time favorite series. I absolutely loved all the characters. I admit that I was definitely team Camden. But on the other hand I was darkly fascinated with Javier Bernal. He was one of those characters that you hated to love and you loved to hate. He was ruthless, a bit psychotic, cruel, dark, and oozing with sex appeal. His character was unforgettable.

After his demise in the final book of the Artist Trilogy, readers were left wondering how the hell he was going to get out the situation he was in. Ahhh….Javier is a very crafty and calculating man. He did not become the leader of one of the largest drug cartels by accident. It was sheer ruthlessness, precise calculation, and diabolical patience that made him the king of one of the most barbaric drug cartels.

Dirty Angels by Karina Halle is Javier Bernal’s ominous kingdom and his quest for his queen. It is not a fairy tale that is roses and rainbows. It is your worst nightmare. It is a love story based on despicable deeds and monstrous behaviors. But it is the only kind of love story Javier can have. His world is violent, diabolical, and gruesome. There are no second chances. Life is expendable. Even for those you love.

If you loved the non-stop action of The Artists Trilogy by author Karina Halle, I feel confident that you will enjoy the Dirty Angels series! Although each of the novels in the Dirty Angels series can be read as a standalone, I highly recommend they be read in order. In fact, I’ll take it one step further and recommend that you read The Artists Trilogy before reading Dirty Angels, Dirty Deeds, and Dirty Promises. There is a significant amount of backstory you will learn about many of the characters, and I think this will improve your overall reading experience.

Dirty Deeds is the second novel of the Dirty Angels series. It’s a dark, romantic suspense novel that focuses on mercenary-for-hire Derek Conway and Alana Bernal, the sister of drug lord Javier Bernal. This story is sexy, exciting, dangerous and full of twists as Derek and Alana fall in love.

I had forgotten just how much I thrived on Karina Halle’s brand of suspense. She is absolutely fantastic at writing a dramatic, thrilling scene involving fights and deadly pursuits! There are moments in Dirty Deeds where Halle’s descriptive writing feels so realistic that you can envision or smell or taste what she is describing! If you have already read and enjoyed her new adult and contemporary romances, be sure to read one of her romantic suspense novels – this is where Karina Halle shines! I enjoyed Dirty Deeds. This 4-star novel was a quick read and left me chomping at the bit for Dirty Promises!

I pulled the cruiser into Jackie’s driveway. What the hell was wrong with me? It was only yesterday that I’d gotten her off and yet here I was, sitting unannounced in her driveway like a stalker.

If I’d thought it difficult to get her off my mind before, what had happened in the wine cellar had made it damn near impossible.

Everyone I’d talked to had said the same thing—that she’d turned down each and every cop or fireman that had asked her out. No one was sure if she was just trying to keep her personal life outside of the work environment or what, but I intended to find out. The insane pull between us didn’t leave me any other choice.

With a sigh, I unbuckled my seatbelt and glanced at the small bungalow. It was cute with white siding and black shutters. Hanging baskets of colorful flowers hung from hooks around the veranda and a kickass bicycle was leaning against the side of the house. That helped to explain why she had such a firm ass.

I opened the door to the cruiser when the front door of the house burst open, and Jackie stood there frozen, her hand held to her chest and such an expression of fear on her face that I bolted out of the car and up the front steps.

“What’s wrong?” I demanded as soon as I was in front of her.

“Wh-what are you doing here?” she asked in barely a whisper.

I relaxed a fraction once it was clear she was okay. “I figured you could use a lift to Don’s place for your car. Didn’t think you would’ve driven home last night.” I shrugged. “It’s been quiet today, so I popped by to see if you wanted me to drive you over.”

She released a pent-up breath and relief washed over her face. “Oh, thank God.”

I frowned and gripped her upper arms. “What’s going on? Everything okay?”

She glanced down at where my hands lay on her soft skin and looked back up to me, blinking twice. “It’s nothing. When I saw the cruiser in the driveway…never mind.” She shook her head.

I studied her for a moment. She was sexy just rolling out of bed with her hair thrown in a messy bun and last night’s make-up still on her face. “You sure?”

She nodded and her eyes flicked down to my hands once more. “Why are you always touching me whenever I see you?” Her voice had come out all breathy, not at all convincing me that she didn’t like my hands right where they were.

I grazed her collarbones with my thumbs, causing goose bumps to form on her skin. “I think you know exactly why.”

Elisabeth Grace writes romance with such ease. All of her books have memorable characters that stay with the reader long after the book is finished. Her characters come to life with dynamic personalities. Their passion and chemistry is sizzling hot.

Elisabeth has once again delivered a good book. I was drawn into the story with the very first paragraph. The first chapter set the book up and had the reader enthralled with Jackie and Jamie.

She added humor, emotional plights, and red hot chemistry in what would seem to be a predictable romance. This made the book stand out.

Jackie doesn’t date cops. She has her reasons. When Jamie McTavish blows into town and turns a road side stop into sexy encounter, all bets are off. Jackie will be battling her convictions. Jamie plans on taking her heart prisoner.

Loving a man in uniform is something Jackie is going to learn. Jamie is the man to teach her.

I loved how easy this book was to read. It was thoroughly enjoyable!

“You….” she whispered.

This blind date had to be some kind of elaborate, cruel joke. Michael Brannan had single-handedly caused her the worst humiliation in her life. In an instant, she vividly recalled the laughter and whispers directed at her as the mean girls made her last month of high school the worst sort of hell. Blinking, she watched in horror as he walked toward her. At any minute, her already-frayed nerves would snap. So many emotions converged on her at once: the trauma of high school, the stress of her hectic work schedule, and the terror of an unknown stalker. Seeing the boy who’d broken her heart-making it impossible to trust men-almost put her over the edge. From the time she’d met Michael in their freshman English class, she’d had a huge crush on the ginger-haired football star, and he’d humiliated her in front of the entire senior class.

“Angel? Is that really you?”

She stumbled back as he moved closer.

“What the hell are you doing here?” she blurted.

“I’m meeting someone. What are you doing-”

“Who?” she asked.

“I don’t know her name. It’s supposed be a blind date. Why?”

“Oh, hell no! Not again! Not you…anybody but you.”

He grabbed her as she turned away. While Michael touching her had been something she’d longed for the entire time they’d been in high school, right now it made her white hot with fury. Without thinking, she spun around, balled her fist, and punched him as hard as she could.

As she drew her arm back, when she tried to yank free, her Pandora bracelet caught and broke, spilling the charms all over the wooden porch floor. Michael’s eyes widened, and his gaze followed the broken jewelry as it rolled away.

“Angel, I’m sorry. I deserve that,” he said as his hold slackened.

“I hate you!” she screamed, breaking free and rearing back again, the jewelry forgotten.

The cobalt eyes that had charmed her back in the day now sparked with dangerous anger. He caught her wrist in a death grip and yanked her closer, causing her to lose her balance. Measuring six feet in five-inch heels, she tilted her head back to meet his eyes. She’d tried to forget how tall and strong he was. In an instant, the powerful, taut football player who could make her damp when he’d pull her against him in a light, friendly hug came back to her with sharp clarity. Was it possible he’d gotten stronger over the years?

“I don’t care,” he growled. “You owe me a date. After making me wait for an hour, you will see this thing through. Am I clear?”

Tracey’s Review

When Michael Brannan and Angel Rivas last saw each other, things were not exactly hearts and flowers. Giving in to peer pressure, Michael broke Angel’s heart, and she’s never forgotten it. But when Fate brings them together again, Michael will do anything to show Angel how much he’s changed.

Saving Me is the third book in the Knights of Red Horse series by Bella Juarez. It’s a short hot little read, a quickie, if you will. I enjoyed the book well enough, but I really wish that there had been a lot more development of the characters. One minute Angel could barely tolerate Michael, still stinging over his rejection in high school, and the next, well, they more than kissed and made up. Although the two had known each other before, this felt a lot like insta-love, which always gives me pause. Had the book been longer, I believe that I would have enjoyed seeing how Michael and Angel’s relationship unfolded over time, and seeing each of them evolve as people. As it is, I’d give 4.5 stars for the steam factor and the fact that the book is well-written, with a final rating of 4, because I really really wish that there had been more of the story to sink my teeth into. But, if you’re looking for a super-hot erotic short, grab this one, as it just may be what you’re looking for.
