Michel’s Review

I absolutely love the Danvers Series by Sydney Landon. It is one of those contemporary series that is highly entertaining, has larger than life characters, and is loaded with passion and sizzling romance. The series revolves around The Danvers Corporation and the people who work for this company. Going to the office is more than pencil pushing, graph making, memo updates, and palm shaking. It is a place where friendships are made and love is found. Opposites are thrown together and forced to deal with one another on a daily basis. They have to find a way to make their work place a successful environment. What they end up finding is that work and play can blend together and become a stronger force.

No Denying You is another fabulous addition to this series. I absolutely LOVED this book!

Emma Davis has been desperately trying to transfer to a different department. Any where that is away from her uptight workaholic boss, Brant Stone. He is a control freak that is frequent with his insults and smart remarks. His expectations drive her crazy. The worst part is that he keeps denying her request to transfer. The two are constantly fighting and bickering. Neither of them can admit that they are physically attracted to each other and that their bickering is really foreplay.

When Emma finds a rather flattering picture of her boss, Mr. December, in a sexy calendar, the blackmail is on. She needs a date to her high school reunion. She is sure that spending their off time together will be the final push that makes him agree to her transfer.

Brant is on board! Emma is in for a great surprise. Brant is not the man she expected.

This book was full of humor. Emma’s mom belongs to a book club that has dubbed themselves as the Smut Loving Wenches. They have decreed that Emma needs a boob job and a little more excitement. They take full advantage of Brant. He is part of their Fifty Shades of Gray meeting.

Hmmm…. I wonder if those Smut Loving Wenches are our dopplegangers.  They sure have our number here at Smut Book Junkie Reviews.  Gotta love those women!

This book is full of all kinds of emotional moments. From personal tragedy to an all consuming passion, Emma and Brant will find a love that cannot be denied.

Sydney Landon is one of the most talented writers I have read. Her characters are well developed and larger than life. Each one has all the qualities we love and hate. The stories are loaded with humor, emotional moments, and extremely passionate love scenes. I find that every time I finish a book in the Danvers series, I want to go back and read all the previous books. I am always counting down the days for the next book in the series. Each and every book is an extraordinary reading experience.

About Sydney Landon

Sydney Landon lives in Greenville, South Carolina and worked in accounting before beginning writing her first book. Sydney met her own prince charming in 2000 and received the most romantic proposal on a pier in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, thus creating her eternal love for the city. The fact that her future husband was a fellow computer geek completely sealed the deal for her. She credits him with keeping her calm and rational while also understanding her need for a new pair of shoes every other week. They have two children who keep life interesting and borderline insane, but never boring.
The idea for her first book in the Danvers’ Series popped into her head and refused to go away. She started writing the first story never imagining that it would ever be finished. Three months later it turned into her first book, Weekends Required. Within a few months, it had quickly made the best-seller list on Amazon, and went on to make the New York Times Best Seller List. Barely taking a breath between books, Sydney followed up with the second book in the series, Not Planning on You. Within the first month, this book also became a best-seller. The third book in the series, Fall For Me was released in February 2013 and became a New York Times Best Seller. The fourth book in the series, Fighting For You released in paperback in February 2014. Sydney is currently working on the fifth book in the Danvers’ Series and the second book in the Lucian and Lia Trilogy. When she isn’t writing, Sydney enjoys reading, swimming and being a mini-van driving, soccer mom.

Tracey’s Review

Georgia Delaune is a woman in hiding, forced by an abusive ex to flee her hometown of Chicago for an anonymous life in Texas. A virtual prisoner in her own home, Georgia has a lot of time to spend watching the world go by. And watching Colby Wilkes, her exceptionally hot next-door neighbor, whose life is very different from anything Georgia has ever imagined. When Adam Keats, a young man from Colby’s past, enters the picture, life for all three of them takes a decidedly interesting turn.

Roni Loren can write a hot romance like nobody’s business. Her characters are multi-layered, never flat, and always have interesting histories. And the chemistry, oh, my goodness, the chemistry. The relationships are so hot that they sizzle, drawing me into the story completely. Roni does not disappoint in Nothing Between Us, her latest book in her Loving On the Edge series. The themes in Roni’s books are not your everyday garden variety romance, but she always manages to write them with compassion, reality, and, yes, lots of heat. The relationships between Georgia, Colby, and Keats just work, with each of them bringing something to the table that gives everyone what they need. Add to that compelling back stories for all three, dialogue that had me laughing out loud, and tons of raw emotion, and I had a read that I could not put down. I am looking forward to Call On Me, the next book in the series, and give Nothing Between Us 4.5 awesome stars.

Michel’s Review

Back To Before by Tracy Solheim is the first book in her new series , Second Chances. It takes place in the small town, Chances Inlet, North Carolina. A small town that is tight knit, full of colorful characters, and loaded with promising future stories.

Gavin MacAlister was the golden boy of Chance Inlet. Being the golden boy made Gavin want to escape his past and become part of a big anonymous city. After college he fled to New York to start his career as an architect. He loves the life he is living. The death of his father forces him to return home to Chance Inlet.

His father left behind a substantial debt, a failing business, and possibly the loss of his mother’s B & B. Gavin is forced to remain in Chance Inlet to save his family’s financial state. He devices a plan that will dig his family out of the financial mess his father left. A plan that will get him back to New York quickly and save his mother’s B&B. He is going to restore an old house on a TV DYI Restoration Show. He will have to work on the show himself. This is when he meets Ginger Walsh.

Ginger Walsh is a former teen soap star. The role she played was that of a spoiled teenage brat that viewers loved to hate. Now she is an adult with a new direction in her life. She wants to work behind the scenes. She has come to Chance Inlet to work with the DYI show as a makeup artist.

Ginger has always wanted to be a part of a small town community. She has always wanted somewhere to belong. But the town doesn’t want to open their arms to her because they view her as the person she played on tv. Gavin seems to be the only one that sees who she really is.

She wants what Gavin has. Gavin wants to walk away from this small town way of life. Somewhere along the way, Gavin and Ginger find each other. They give new meaning to each other’s lives. They open each other’s eyes to much more than a romantic relationship. Will this be a summer fling or something new and better for them both?

Back To Before is a story of second chances in every aspect of life. It is a feel good story that has your heart pitter-pattering. The vivid descriptions, colorful characters, and thoughtful pacing has readers experiencing a beautiful romance in small town America.

I highly recommend Back To Before by Tracy Solheim. It will not disappoint.

Drea survived, but at a price. The trauma of her capture has rendered her without a single memory of her ordeal—or any recollection of how violently unpredictable her ex-boyfriend, Danny, an Outlaw Angel, had become, or why she had left him.

IS TRUST EVEN AN OPTION?

When Danny threatens to turn Drea over to the feds, she is forced to go on the run and confront a past that is as deadly as her future. As trouble closes in on both ends, Drea has no choice but to trust Jem, the only man who can help her, the only man whose electrifying touch brings back memories—piece by piece—too stirring to forget.

Michel’s Review

Fragmented by Stephanie Tyler is the third book in the Section 8 series. It picks up.  Where the second book left off with a huge cliffhanger.

Fragmented is Drea and Jem’s story. Drea is beginning to regain some of her memories from Section 8 and the team. She is beginning to remember fragments of her ex boyfriend Danny. Danny is the enemy and much more dangerous than she can remember. She has to rely heavily on her trust in Jem and the team. Afterall it was Jem that brought her in and has protected her from Danny, the FBI, and other agencies in the bureaucracy.

The Section 8 team will band together to help her and continue to do their covert rescue operations.

What follows is the Section 8 team trying to save a young girl that has been kidnapped, take Danny and his MC members down, fight the government agencies that are backing Danny, and continue to rescue operations. In the midst of all this action Drea and Jem’s relationship is developing into a deep bond that goes beyond the team. They are falling in a deep abiding love.

Fragmented is fast paced, action packed, suspenseful, sensual, and romantic. The characters are intense. Their story is riveting. The overall plot for this series is gripping and exciting. The entire cast in this series is charismatic and compelling. Their stories will have the reader on the edge of their seats hoping they get resolution and the love they deserve.

The Section 8 Series is fantastic. Fragmented was a great addition. Fragmented can be read as a stand alone book because there is enough back story for a reader new to this series to understand. I would recommend reading all the books in this series, in reading order. It will not disappoint.

Tracey’s Review

Katrina McCade has come back home to Bear Paw, Montana, to heal her broken heart amidst her loving family. With a less-than-stellar romantic track record, Katrina is happy to spend her time far from anything that reminds her of the mistakes that she’s made, especially good-looking doctors with smooth lines and hidden agendas. For Josh Stanton, coming to Bear Paw as the interim ER doctor/GP is nothing more than the fastest way to get out from under his mountain of debt from medical school. A city boy born and bred, he’s convinced that life in a small town is a chore to be endured.

Montana, Actually, is the first book in the Medicine River series by Fiona Lowe. I enjoyed it from the first page, and read it in one sitting. Bear Paw is a community filled with camaraderie and love, and all of its inhabitants immediately captured my heart. Josh shows up in town with a superior attitude, but is not a bad guy at heart. He’s a first-rate doctor and pretty darned hot, and not at all what Katrina was expecting. The more time they spend together, the more they become their real selves, and it’s a pleasure to see this evolution.

As much as I liked the romance, banter, and sexy times between Josh and Katrina, though, I have to say that it was Beau, Kat’s cousin, that stole my heart. His and Shannon’s storyline was sweet, sexy, and touching, and was a welcome side story that made the book that much more enjoyable. Fiona did a great job with all of the supporting characters and their part of the story, and I am looking forward to reading TRULY MADLY MOTANA, the second book in the series.

Michel’s Review

Playing With the Drummer by Robin Covington is the third book in the Head Over Heels series. It can be read as a stand alone novel or in series order. It is the first book in this series that I have read. I had no trouble adapting to all of the characters and roles they play throughout the series.

Playing With the Drummer was enjoyable but predictable. The overall plot was good. I love stories where old flames reunite and find the love they shared once again.

Lita and Rocky had one wild and romantic weekend in Mexico four years ago that ended badly. Lita did something that was so spiteful and malicious that she completely lost Rocky’s respect and trust. Now four years later they are forced together when her best friend is marrying Rocky’s bandmate.

Lita has agreed to cover the wedding and spin it in a positive manner. Rocky doesn’t trust Lita to follow through. He sees her as an over aggressive, manipulative, ambitious reporter. He doesn’t see the woman he once knew beneath her professional exterior.

These two have a long way to go to find the people they once knew and loved. Their journey to finding each other again is sexy and romantic. They will butt heads and they will do more than kiss and make up.

Playing The Drummer was good but very predictable. I found some of the passages were too cheesy and sweet. I didn’t feel the intense sexual chemistry between the two characters. I felt this was more of a fluffy type romance.

The Complete Novel

By Joey W. Hill

Synopsis

THE COMPLETE NOVEL

To better serve the customers of her lingerie shop, Madison must explore the pleasures of giving up control…

After inheriting her sister’s North Carolina lingerie shop, Naughty Bits, Madison jumps at the chance to dump her boring finance career and try her luck down South. But even before Madison can settle in, she catches the attention of the owner of the neighboring hardware store. Sexually dominant Logan Scott recognizes a submissive when he sees one. And what he sees, he wants.

He presents her with three very tempting gifts—handcuffs, erotic cards, and an open invitation to start her sexual training. She has to accept. After all, how can she hope to sell fantasies to lingerie customers without embracing her own? Now, she’s about to discover just how far her fantasies can take her—and how far Logan will go to make every one of them come true.

Tracey’s Review

When Madison inherits Naughty Bits from her sister, Alice, she has no idea of what she’s getting. After all, she’s a sales whiz, so what could be so hard about selling, well, naughty wares to people that want them? What Madison finds, though, is that she has also inherited Logan Scott, owner of the hardware store next door to her store. Because Alice knew things about her sister that Madison didn’t even admit to herself, and was taking care of her even from beyond.

I wasn’t quite sure what I was getting when I signed on to read this book. The story was previously released in four smaller parts, in a serial-type format. I absolutely think that putting the separate parts together into one book was a great move, because I’m not sure that I would have liked the story as well had I read it piecemeal. The story drew me in and kept me reading, piquing my interest more with each page. Madison craves things, things that she doesn’t quite understand, and Alice knew that Logan would be more than capable of helping her. Logan, who has such a big personality, is a patient teacher, willing to help Madison become the person that will make her feel the most free, to break down her boundaries and take her to the place that she can be herself. While the dynamic between Logan and Madison is intense, there is also a feeling of comfort and freedom as their relationship unfolds, and it becomes clear that Alice knew these two better than they knew themselves up to that point.

Although I had not read any of her previous books, I enjoyed Joey’s style of writing very much, and look forward to reading more from her.

103359I’ve always had an aversion to reading, watching or hearing interviews of favorite actors, authors, musicians, etc. because so often the real person doesn’t measure up to the beauty of the art they produce. Their politics or religion are distasteful, or they’re shallow and self-absorbed, a vacuous mop-head without a lick of sense. From then on, though I may appreciate their craft or art, it has somehow been tarnished.

Therefore, whenever I’m asked to provide personal information about myself for readers, a ball of anxiety forms in my stomach as I think: “Okay, the next couple of paragraphs can change forever the way someone views my stories.” Why on earth does a reader want to know about me? It’s the story that’s important.

So here it is. I’ve been given more blessings in my life than any one person has a right to have. Despite that, I’m a Type A, borderline obsessive-compulsive paranoiac who worries I will never live up to expectations. I’ve got more phobias than anyone (including myself) has patience to read about. I can’t stand talking on the phone, I dread social commitments, and the idea of living in monastic solitude with my husband and animals, books and writing is as close an idea to paradise as I can imagine. I love chocolate, but with that deeply ingrained, irrational female belief that weight equals worth, I manage to keep it down to a minor addiction. I adore good movies. I’m told I work too much. Every day is spent trying to get through the never ending “to do” list to snatch a few minutes to write.

Despite all these mediocre and typical qualities, for some miraculous reason, these wonderful characters well up out of my soul with stories to tell. When I manage to find enough time to write, sufficient enough that the precious “stillness” required rises up and calms all the competing voices in my head, I can step into their lives, hear what they are saying, what they’re feeling, and put it down on paper. It’s a magic beyond description, akin to truly believing my husband loves me, winning the trust of an animal who has known only fear or apathy, making a true connection with someone, or knowing for certain I’ve given a reader a moment of magic through those written words. It’s a magic that reassures me there is Someone, far wiser than myself, who knows the permanent path to that garden of stillness, where there is only love, acceptance and a pen waiting for hours and hours of uninterrupted, blissful use.

Blaspheme has a deadly secret: she’s the forbidden offspring of an angel and a fallen angel. Hunted by both heavenly and satanic forces, she has survived only by laying low and trusting no one. Michel’s Review

Larissa Ione is one the most gifted writers I have ever read. She created a world that is beyond your expectations in the paranormal world. She flawlessly blends these paranormal beings into characters that have very real emotional traits, strengths and weaknesses, and unique individuality that ensures that the reader connects with their entity. They are as vulnerable and as sensitive as most people while being extraordinary beings with unbelievable powers. There is always a balance of good and bad, divine and evil in each of them. They are powerful beings controlling the universe, defining the heavens and hells.

Each and every book in the Demonica Series/ The Lords of Deliverence is a gripping, thrilling, breathtaking adventure. So many things happen in each book. There is always a fight for balance in the world . There are always manipulators that shake the balance. Each character has to find their place in that battle, whether good or bad, and fulfill their role so that the balance stays where it should be. In the midst of the overall struggle, the character is struggling with themselves as individuals. They are trying to find their personal happiness and love. A way to make their personal life better.

These characters have personalities that are larger than life. They are badasses with a sense of humor, insecurities, elevated ego’s, souls with compassion, strong sense of honor, and sensitive hearts.

Their world is intricately woven to blend in with the human world. They have careers that are comparable to human careers. They also have their roles in destiny and fate.

Revenant is by far the best book in the series yet ( of course I say this with every release in the series). Larissa reached deep and let his world explode!

It was revealed in the previous book exactly who Revenant really was. We were led to believe that he was a fallen angel but he is so much more. He is one of the most powerful beings in both worlds. Now that his memories are restored, he’s beyond pissed. He has spent his entire life as an assassin for Satan without a clue to who he really was. He’s bitter. He wants answers about his past and wants to determine where his allegiances should lie now that he knows the some of the truth. The other thing he wants is Blaspheme.

Blaspheme is a doctor at Underworld General. She has a strong sense of right and wrong. She is compassionate and devoted to those she loves. She is very protective of those she loves. She does not want people to get hurt because of her. She is known as the false angel but she is something else. Like Revenant, there is more to her than meets the eye. She is the child of an angel and fallen angel. Her kind is hunted and destroyed. She is fighting against time. Her true identity is about to be revealed. This will put her in danger from both Heaven and Hell.

Rev is very persistent where Blaspheme is concerned. The more she rejects him, the more he pursues her. Their arguing, snarky banter, and insane conversations will have you laughing out loud. Their emotional moments will give you goose bumps. Blaspheme gave Rev the one thing he has never felt or experienced in his life. She has given him love.

As their love blossoms, their world begins to spiral out of control. Everyone has their own agenda in their world. The battle between the Heavens and Hells will always go on, but for Revenant and Blaspheme it won’t matter. They have each other. They have what means the most in any world. They have love.

Larissa Ione has outdone herself once again. Revenant was amazing!
