Synopsis

My name is Benjamin Dorsey. You know my mom and dad’s story. You know Kylie’s parents’ story. You even know Kylie’s story.

You don’t know mine, yet.

You don’t know what a broken heart is until you’ve loved someone your whole life, only to have her slip through your fingers because you waited too long. That’s heartbreak. That’s regret. And how do you live with that? How do you go through the motions when she’s there as a reminder of what you lost, of what you could have had but were too damn chicken to go after? I couldn’t. So I left.

That’s right, I ran away. I found myself across the continent, playing minor league football. I mean, at least I still had football, right?

Nope. That got taken away from me too. A career-ending injury left me down-and-out, scraping the bottom of the barrel, hating myself and hating life. And then I met Cheyenne Leveaux, my physical therapist, who became my one and only friend, the one bright light in the darkness of my messed up life.

But of course nothing is ever simple, or easy.

Tragedy struck, and the rug was swept out from under me yet again, and this time the guilt, the doubt, the secrets, and the old heartbreak may threaten my one chance at true happiness, my one shot at my own happily ever after.

Michel’s Review

Falling Away is the epic ending to the Falling Into You series by Jasinda Wilder.  It was a bittersweet moment opening this book and knowing that it was the last in one of my all time favorite series.  The characters in this series have lived in my heart and are unforgettable.

After reading the last book, Falling Under, I was devastated for Ben.  He was a great kid that had his heart shattered.  He showed the ugly and uncontrollable side of his personality.  He acted out in the worst possible way.  His soul was wounded and he was reacting the only way he knew how.  He had carried so many pent up emotions that when the door opened it was a floodgate of pain, betrayal, regret, and anger.  I ached for this boy.  I felt his deep pain.  I wanted him to find the peace and love he so richly deserved.  Ben found more than that.  He found himself.  He found a man that had honor, compassion, and hope.

The book starts a year after Ben left Nashville trying to run from his heartbreak and despair.  What Ben didn’t realize at the time is that he was running from himself.  It took many miles,  odd jobs, new experiences, and new heartbreaks to open his heart once again. He finds his passion for football once again.  He finds a place he may want to call home for a spell. He finds that he can be attracted to another woman other than Kylie.  He finds a true friend that understands his heartbreaking journey.  Just as things are looking bright in Ben’s life he is thrown into despair once again.  He loses his only passion and he loses his only true friend.  This time around Ben has grown emotionally and matured.  He hasn’t come completely into himself but is much stronger than he was a year ago.  He also recognizes that a new door is opening and that this time he doesn’t want to slam it shut.  He’s not quite ready to welcome the new people & experiences at the door, but he isn’t turning them away.  He is opening that door.

Ben meets Echo through a very tragic circumstance.  She is unlike any girl or woman he has ever met.  He sees a very beautiful woman that has a very wounded soul.  Although he doesn’t understand all of her pain, he knows without a doubt he wants to ease it and help her cope.  What starts out as a pain easing hookup turns into a soul searching friendship to a passionate love affair that stands the test of time.  But first Echo and Ben have to face their pain and allow others into their soul.

Echo is a very troubled young woman.  Her life experiences have led her to a self destructive and abusive path.  She has trust issues, self worth issues, and loads of regret. Her escape is through music.  When music isn’t enough to ease the pain she will have to face herself or destroy herself.  Ben shows her a different look at life.  He shows her that healing doesn’t erase the person you are, it makes you stronger and better.

Ben and Echo both have their journeys to travel but destiny has thrown their paths together.  Now they have to learn to open their hearts and travel that path together.

I loved this book.  The reader got to experience Ben’s transition from a wounded boy into a strong and steady man.  A man with a bright and shiny future.  He was given something better than he ever could of dreamed of having with Kylie.  He was given himself as well as a love of a lifetime.

There were a few things in this book that I struggled with but did not affect my overall reaction to the story.  There was an excessive amount of references to songs, the performers, and musicians.  While I understand the importance of music in this series, I found it distracting in many passages.  Another thing I found I disliked quite a bit was that Ben’s parents, Becca and Jason (from Falling Into Us- book 2 ), played a very small role in the overall picture. Jasinda emphasized Colt and Nell’s presence throughout the second part of the book.  I understand that they are the foundation of the series but quite honestly I felt like Jason and Becca importance was slighted.  They were both powerful characters that overcame advisory in a very positive manner.  They experienced pain, heartbreak, abuse, and the hard knocks life had to offer.  They overcame their plights and became very strong admirable adults.  I feel like they had so much more to offer their son Ben than Jasinda allowed them to.

I am happy that Ben became the man he is today.  I am happy that he found the peace in his life.  I am happy that he found Echo.

I am very sad that this series has ended but am looking forward to the spin off series coming in the future.

I have nothing but pure praise for Jasinda Wilder.  She writes a powerful and emotional reading experience that stays in your heart long after the book is finished.

Read this book.  Read this series!

Excerpt

I knocked on his door, thankful I’d had the foresight to grab my gloves before heading out. I was preparing to knock again after he didn’t answer when the door suddenly swung open.

My mild shock turned into downright “slap my ass and call me Dixie” surprise when I saw how he was dressed, or rather, undressed would be the more accurate description. He answered the door in nothing more than a towel, rendering me speechless.

My mouth dropped open as I took in the very male sight before me. My suspicions about what lay beneath the endless array of geeky shirts he was so fond of wearing had now been verified. Although, even in my wildest of dreams, I’m pretty sure I didn’t imagine this. Not that I had wild dreams about him. At least, not all the time.

With the towel knotted around his waist, I had an up-close and personal view of his very defined, and I loathed to admit, very lickable abs. I wasn’t even sure “six-pack” was the right word. Running my eyes down his naked torso, I’m pretty sure I counted an eight-pack. Eight delicious abs that glistened with droplets of water from the shower he had just stepped out of. My mouth began to water at the sight of him, and I’m pretty sure I even swayed a little. I wanted to reach out to feel if his muscles were as firm as they looked. God, the things I could do that chest, I thought.

“Hey, you’re early,” he greeted me, using an extra towel to dry his hair. His words were like a torrent of cold water splashed on my face. I took an unsteady step backward. If he only knew how close I had come to reaching out and touching him. How could nerdy tee shirts and glasses hide that much hotness? That was the question. Hell, even his hair looked hot now that it was tousled from the towel dry he’d given it.

I croaked out an answer that was a garbled mess. He looked at me like I’d just fallen off the drunken train. Trying again, I cleared my throat, hoping for something that sounded more coherent. “Too jeep cold,” I mumbled, realizing as I was talking that I had effed it up again.

His look turned to puzzlement as he tried to make sense of my rhyme. “Oh, sorry,” he finally said, stepping back so I could enter his warm apartment. “It’s cold outside,” he added, closing the door quickly behind me. I didn’t bother to correct him. Better for him to think it was the cold that had my tongue refusing to cooperate than the real reason. Trent didn’t need any more encouragement.

I skirted around him. Distance was my only ally at the moment.

“How’d your test go yesterday?” he asked, oblivious to the fact that I was secretly wishing for his towel to drop.

For the love of my horny sanity, could you please put on some clothes before I tear my panties off and jump on you? The words bounced around in my head like a rogue Ping-Pong ball. I was practically chanting them.

“Sorry. I’ll go get dressed,” he said, giving me a strange look.

No way, did I utter that out loud? Please for the love of horny bitches everywhere, tell me that was all in my head. Son of a bitch, I couldn’t remember. I was stuck in some hypnotizing dick trance.

I needed to flee the scene while he was in his room getting dressed. That would be the only rational thing to do. Maybe I could tell him I was drunk. By the looks he’d been giving me, he probably assumed that already. I could go home and pretend this never happened. The mental image of his very bare chest floated through my dirty mind. My nether regions throbbed. That alone should have me fleeing the apartment like it was on fire. Only, it was me who was on fire. Damn it, Tressa. Get your mind out of the gutter.

“Tressa, you okay?” Trent asked.

I whirled around at the sound of my name. He was dressed, which was disappointing. No, wait. I was relieved. Definitely relieved. Holy monkey balls, my brain was officially broken.

Now would be the opportune time to use the drunken excuse, or even that I was abducted by aliens. He was a man of science. He would definitely buy the alien story. “I’m fine, just trying to warm up,” I said, taking a deep breath. I was still feeling pretty hot and bothered, but that was for me to know.

“Oh. Let me turn the heat up,” he offered.

Little did he know he’d already done that.

“I was working out earlier, so I kicked the heat down. I hate being hot while I’m lifting weights.”

Too late for that. Seriously, I needed to be euthanized. My brain was a total traitor.

“Right,” I muttered. “I hate being hot too.” God, I still sounded like a blabbering idiot.

Michel’s Review

Contradictions by Tiffany King is the third book in the Woodfalls Girls series.  It is my favorite book in the series.  It was an honest look at how uncontrolled events in life can completely change one’s outlook on life.  It can change the course of one’s life, open one’s eyes to life’s realities, and make one re-evaluate their own life.  Not only is Contradictions a heartwarming romance, it is also a powerful story of change.

Tressa has been the snarky, fun loving, wild party girl throughout the Woodfalls Girls series.  The readers have witnessed her antics, her dynamic personality, and got a glimpse of some of her insecurities throughout the series.  Contradictions shines a whole new light on who Tressa really is beneath the pranks and snarky attitude.

Tressa has finally made it to MSC after attending community college for two years.  She quickly established her wild party girl reputation and embracing the wild college life with gusto.  Parties are her first priority.  Guys are interchangeable.  Easy come , easy go. She’s the life of the party, the queen of Instagram, and on the lookout for her next good time.  Academically she is struggling.  Her social schedule takes priority over her academic schedule.  She is close to being put on academic probation.  In her mind, she is going to buckle down tomorrow.  She is going to catch up on her missing assignments, bring her grades up, etc.  But first she has to go to this party or shopping with her friends.  Her attitude and procrastination will come to a quick end when one horrific event happens while she is in a drunken stupor.  One party gets out of control, one post on Instagram documents it, and her party life is over.  The shock of what happened and the senselessness of it all really hits home with Tressa.  Not only has it brought her academic floundering to the attention of the school, it has also put her at risk of losing her college career.  Although she knows her academics are failing, she is also experiencing a deep sense of guilt and regret.  She no longer views her social life and parties as the most important part of her college experience.  She wants to succeed in her academics and she wants to become a better person.  At the same time, the reader gets an insight into what has made Tressa the way she is.  Underneath all of the outgoing and wild antics lies a very sensitive, insecure girl that doubts her intelligence and self worth.  There is one person who has always seen Tressa for who she really is and has loved her for it.  The nerdy guy from high school that Tressa wouldn’t of given the time of day.  Trent James may wear nerdy glasses and super hero shirts.  He may have a collection of action figures in his apartment.  He may speak geek language and understand the Klingon language, but he is also an expert of speaking about matters of the heart.  He is the one guy she wants to avoid.  He is the one guy who can help save her academic career.  He is the one guy that can save her heart.  He is Clark Trent, nerd extrodinaire, and the love of Tressa’s life.

Trent has always loved Tressa.  When she needs help with her academics, he finally sees this as his opportunity to win her heart.  There is so much more to him than meets the eye.  He is a lot like Tressa, he has many layers.

As this story unfolds the readers will be glued to the pages.  Contradictions is more than a Big Bang Theory romance.  It is a story of finding love and self worth.

I loved this book and highly recommend it.  It can be read as a stand alone romance or in series order.

Michel’s Review

Sawyer Bennett has done it again.  Another outstanding addition to the Last Call Series.  With A Twist has won my heart and may very well be my favorite book in the series.  It is an intense, sexy, mature romance that shows more than the red hot chemistry between Wyatt Banks and Andrea Somerville.  This book portrays the true meaning of falling in love and making it last.  It shows how love changes your views on life, love, and happiness.  It shows that dreams can change.  It shows that letting go doesn’t mean you are losing yourself or your dreams, it shows that dreams can change and love can make you a bigger and better person.

From the moment I opened this book I was drawn into Wyatt’s story.  We have met Wyatt in the previous Last Call books.  He has proved to be a loyal friend, a fun guy, and a bit of a mystery. When I got to know Wyatt through the pages, I fell head over heels in love with him.  He is an honorable man with an upstanding code of ethics that he lives his life by.  His work as an undercover detective has at times made him go against his personal code of honor but never once did he let go of the ethics he has chose to live by.  He is a man that is not afraid of commitment or love.  He truly wants a happy and healthy relationship.  He has the highest respect for Andrea’s career, her ambitions, her strength’s and weaknesses.  He doesn’t begrudge her past or her future.  He just wants to be a part of her life, her partner in more ways than work. He never questions his feelings or motivations.

Andrea Somerville is one of the classiest and strongest female characters I have read.  She has chosen a tough career and has high ambitions.  She is self motivated and did what she had to do to make her career happen.  Along the way she had her heartbroken.  She didn’t let the heartbreak hold her back from doing her job or opening her heart once again.  She recognized her own strengths and weaknesses.  She clearly knew what she wanted in life.  When life took a different course than she originally planned and she fell in love with Wyatt, she never once fretted about the sacrifices she might have to make for love.  She took control of her destiny and made her happiness a reality.

I absolutely loved Wyatt and Andrea’s relationship.  Not only were they sizzling hot together, they were phenomenal people.  They approached their relationship in a mature adult manner.  They found solutions that made their relationship work.  They never once dwelled on the sacrifices they were making.  They chose the one thing that was most important to them.  They chose each other.

With A Twist is one of Sawyer Bennett’s best books.  It was steamy, sexy, mature, and truthful about how real life relationships really work.  I closed this book with a great sense of satisfaction.  This book was warm and fuzzy, steamy and sensual, and portrayed the true meaning of love.

Read this book!  With A Twist can be read as a stand alone romance or in series order.  It will not disappoint.

About Author

Tricia Daniels lives in a small town in Southern Ontario, Canada, where she raised three kids as a single parent. Creativity and imagination is something there is never a short supply of in her home. Between her quick wit and wicked sense of humor she found that she has a passion for writing steamy romance novels. Her goal is simple, tell her story, warm a few hearts, shed a few tears, share a silent chuckle, and occasionally, make people blush.
That’s the official version. But the simple truth is… I’m not an author. My friends laugh when I say that. I have never aspired to write the next great love story or take the literary world by storm. I’m just a normal woman, struggling to pay the bills and trying to raise my kids in a home where they feel empowered, supported and loved.
Love inspires me to write. The same way you all feel when you connect with a fictional character and you feel their emotions, their angst… when you’re body gets all warm and squeezy at the good parts. An author experiences those things too when they’re writing. I love when the characters take over the story and plot twists develop that I hadn’t planned. I love the journey to the HEA even though sometimes that road has a lot of bends in it. I love how two imperfect characters can love each other perfectly. My reward, my inspiration is experiencing through them, a love so deep that I feel it in my own heart.

Shoot For The Moon, Book 2 ~ Black River Series by Rochelle Paige

Blurb:

Eliza Reve knows that her ability to dream of future events sets her apart from others. Her gift became a curse when she wasn’t able to save her mother or
the alpha’s son and she found herself exiled – a lone wolf. When she joins the Black River Pack, Eliza vows never to reveal her talent to anyone. Not even
the man who has walked in her dreams for years.

Spencer Tate is her mate, but her visions have told her that he will renounce her. When he doesn’t recognize her as his mate, she agrees to the
no-strings-attached affair he offers because she thinks it’s the most she can hope for. Although her heart breaks as she falls deeper in love with him, she
wants to spend as many days with Spencer as possible before he kicks her out of his life.

When Spencer finally comes to his senses, he has his work cut out for him to convince Eliza that he wants her forever. When another she-wolf insists she’s
his mate instead, things get even more complicated. But Spencer isn’t the alpha’s second and enforcer because he isn’t willing to fight for what’s his, and
he refuses to settle for anything less than Eliza as his marked and claimed mate.

This is book two in the Black River Pack series. Each novella will feature a different couple.

Excerpt #1:

“I don’t know,” I whispered.

“Say yes,” he urged. “Let me have you, Eliza. Stop drinking yourself to sleep. Let me fuck you into exhaustion instead.”

I knew what lay ahead for me—my destruction at his hands—but I couldn’t resist the temptation he represented. Even though I knew this thing between us
wouldn’t last and I wanted him in my life forever as my mate, I still said yes. So my affair with Spencer began with my heart broken before we’d even slept
together that first time.

Excerpt #2:

“You’re in my fucking bed, Eliza. You don’t need to wait until you have solid intel. You come to me the instant something’s wrong,” I argued.

“And say what?” she asked. “‘I think Grace is in trouble because I had a dream about her’? Bullshit! The second I laid that on you, you would have been out
of my bed quick as a flash. You’ve had one foot out of it since the second you decided you wanted in. You made that damn clear to me when we started this.”

“If you’d ever actually shared what was going on in that head of yours before tonight, then I would have had you mated, marked, and claimed so fast your
head would have fucking spun,” I bit out. “Instead of being an ass because I was so fucking pissed off you made me feel things I was only supposed to feel
for my mate.”

Something Reckless Teaser 4

Excerpt from Something Reckless

“You look amazing in this dress. I’ve been pretending all night that there’s something I want to do more than get you out of it.”

“What would you do with me if you got so lucky?”

“I’d keep you up all night, for starters.” He slides a hand into my hair and traces the side of my neck with his thumb. His groan rumbles through me. “Tell me what you came here for.”

I thought that was pretty clear. “I’m wearing extremely slutty underwear. What do you think?”

His nostrils flare and his breathing goes thready. “I think I’m going to have to up my game, because now I want to see it.”

I have to bite back a smile. “Good,” I say. My heart thumps out a beat, probably Morse code for please and thank you.

“How slutty is this underwear of yours?”

I lick my lips. “Oh, it’s damn near whorish.”

“Let me see it, Liz.”

I lift my chin and prop my hands on my hips. “Seriously? That’s all the seduction I get? Let me see it?”

He steps closer until I have to crane my neck to look at him, and holy hell he smells good. “What game are we playing here, Rowdy?” he murmurs against my ear. “Is this the one where we pretend we don’t want each other and sleep alone . . .” His fingers skim down my shoulder and my eyes float closed. “Or is it the one where I make you come so hard you scream my name and tomorrow you act like you want nothing to do with me?”

“Are those my only choices?” I ask, but I keep my eyes closed, focusing on the feel of his rough fingers dancing across my skin. The truth is, I don’t want to play either game. I’m done playing games when it comes to Sam. I’m done pretending I don’t want him when I do, and I’m done pretending our annual one-night stand is enough for me.

“Tell me you aren’t going to run away in the morning. Promise me you won’t shut me out again.”

I don’t know what that means, and I’m too scared to analyze it. My eyes are still closed when he takes my chin in his fingers and tilts my face up to his, still closed when he brushes his lips over mine and when I open under him because I’m helpless to this man’s kiss.

“Promise me,” he repeats.

“I won’t run away.” Then I unzip my dress and let it fall to the floor in a puddle, and my boldness is rewarded. Sam’s lips part and his breath escapes him in a rush.

He steps back and takes me in. The bra is strapless, black lace demi-cups that lift my breasts until they threaten to spill out. The panties—what there is of them—are a thong in matching black lace. Their fine lace straps sit in a sharp V high on my hipbones.

A ringlet of hair escaped my up-do, and he takes it between his fingers and twirls it around. I deserve a medal for not melting right here at his feet.

He hooks his index finger under the black bow between my bra cups. “Did you wear this for me?” His voice is a husky whisper that I can’t deny.

“Yes.”

His fingers skim my belly, trace over my hip, following the lace of my thong behind me to where the straps meet at the small of my back. My breath catches as he takes the fabric path over the curve of my tailbone and down, his fingers bringing every nerve ending to life as they pass. Electric pleasure whips through me.

“Fourteen months since I’ve touched you,” he says. “Fourteen months since I’ve gotten to hear the way you breathe when you’re turned on, since I’ve gotten to listen to you scream as I make you come. Tell me you haven’t thought about it.”

“I’d be lying.”

“Don’t lie,” he says, eyes hot and intense. “Just tell me you want me.”

Kelley’s Review

Lexi Ryan leaves us once again stunned and utterly speechless.  Just when you think you have it all figured out she slaps you over the head and you are literally stunned.

I fell in love with Lizzy a long time ago.  She just seems destined to never find the kind of love her sisters have no matter how much she tries.  Drunken one night stands are getting kind of old and the one man that she wants more from will not give it to her so she decides to throw her hat into the online dating scene.  New Hope is a fairly small town so how many people could truly be using the towns online dating site?  Lizzy has been enjoying some scorching hot dirty talk via Something Real with riverrat69, one of the sites many investors.  She has exchanged some racy photos with him and now he wants to meet.  She is almost positive she knows who he is and is excited to meet the man who can turn her on with only his words.  What happens when finds out the true identity of riverrat69 and he is not either man she thinks he is.  Her reckless online behavior could cost her dearly in real life.

I wanted to scream and throw my kindle at the end of this book.  I was like “No Friggen Way!!!”  Lexi threw me for a serious loop and I loved every second of it.  She had built up so much angst in this story that I skipped the last few chapters and went straight to the end because I could not take it anymore.  I never ever skip to the end but she had me so tied up in knots that I just had to know who the heck Lizzy was talking to.  OMFG!! I never saw what was coming.  The question is now that we know riverrat69’s true identity how does this story shake out.  I can’t wait for Something Real to see the path to Lizzy’s Happily Ever After.  I am sure it is going full of twists and turns that will have our jaw dropping just like it did in this book.  Lexi is the queen of cliff hangers that have you slack-jawed and at a loss for words.  I know that I will be throughly entertained when I pick up one of her reads.  Thank goodness this one is only a two-part read and part two will be here in March, hopefully sooner if I can twist her arm along with her other Midnight Readers.

“You need a good guy. A long-term guy. One who does dates and romance and emotional strings…I’m just an asshole who wants to tie you up, make you come, and walk away.”

Samuel Bradshaw is a man with a reputation—the kind of reputation that should have me running the other way. Instead, it has me searching for the shortest distance to his bed. I won’t be the starry-eyed girl who thinks she can change a man like Sam, and despite what he thinks, forever is not what I need. I need the things he makes me feel, the way he turns me on, and the promise of pleasure in his eyes. This promises to be SOMETHING WILD.

Synopsis

Raine Kendall has been in love with her boss, Macen Hammerman, for years. Determined to make the man notice that she’s a grown woman with desires and needs, she pours out her heart and offers her body to him—only to be crushingly rejected. But when his friend, very single, very sexy Liam O’Neill watches the other Dom refuse to act on his obvious feelings for Raine, he resolves to step in and do whatever it takes to help Hammer find happiness again, even rousing his friend’s possessive instincts by making the girl a proposition too tempting to refuse. But he never imagines that he’ll end up falling for her himself.

Hammer has buried his lust for Raine for years. After rescuing the budding runaway from an alley behind his exclusive BDSM Dungeon, he has come to covet the pretty submissive. But tragedy has taught him that he can never be what she needs. So he watches over her while struggling to keep his distance. Liam’s crafty plan blindsides Hammer, especially when he sees how determined his friend is to possess Raine for his own. Hammer isn’t ready to give the lovely submissive over to any other Dom, but can he heal from his past and fight for her? Or will he lose Raine if she truly gives herself—heart, body, and soul—to Liam?

5.5 Star

This read is so scorching hot that you will be frantically searching for batteries…

I have read my share of Shayla Black novels and several of her books have made my favorites list but this book is my favorite thus far.  I have never read any books by Jenna Jacobs or Isabella LaPearl and after reading this have added them both to my TBR. I don’t know how three authors can come together and write a story so completely and utterly sexy and yet emotionally gripping that flows like honey.

I will warn you that this book has a slight cliff hanger ending but the awesome part is the second book is already available.  I also see that there is a third book in the works that comes out in February which I am guessing will have the final Happily Ever After ending this story needs.

Raine is a girl after my own heart.  She has struggled for most of her life and when she is at her lowest Macen finds her and takes her in.  He tends to her needs and makes sure she has a roof over her head, clean clothes, and food in her belly.  In return she works for him and tries to take care of everything he needs before he knows he needs it.  Over time she finds herself falling in love with Macen but he makes it clear to her that he is not interested in any more than her working for him.  She even goes as far as to sneak into his bed to see if she can convince him to give him more and it backfires in her face.

Liam O’Neill sees his friend flat-out crush Raine’s heart.  Macen sets up Raine for a horrible punishment for sneaking into his room.  He is angry and wants to scare her away from his D/s lifestyle so he sets her up for a public whipping by one of the other Dom’s in his club, Beck.  Macen plans to supervise.  The problem is that Beck is a sadist and Macen can’t truly control Beck so when things get out of control Liam steps in and Raine accepts Liam’s training collar barely escaping the horrible beating that had begun.  Liam makes it is his mission to train Raine to be a proper submissive because he knows his best friend Macen does have feelings for her and he believes he will be doing him a favor when he returns her to the club after her training.  But, what happens when Liam begins to have real feelings for Raine and Macen still believes he is not worthy of her love?  Will Liam keep her for himself?

I love Liam.  He is an amazing Dom and all I wanted was for he and Raine to run off into the sunset together and they do to an extent, however it is made very clear that Macen is not done with Raine yet and he will not give her up without a fight.  Stay tuned for the next chapter in The Doms of Her Life series, The Young and the Submissive.

~ HUSH (part 4) – Released December 12, 2014 ~

Logan “Unbreakable” Kellar finally has everything he’s always wanted in life. When a career opportunity, that could jeopardize everything, comes along, he’s put back in the position where he’s spent most of his life. Torn. Now, Logan has a hard hitting choice to make. Tell the only girl he’s ever loved exactly what he’s feeling or fall back on old habits and keep his feelings on the Hush.

Novella: under 150 pages
Alternating POVs with numerous, humorous mental asides as per the norm in this series. The serial continues where NUMB left off.
Logan, with the help of CJ and the support of the others, gains custody and provides a home for Dean. I really like the character of Dean and felt he was rather vital in further developing the other characters. Just as Logan and Maxx begin to define and solidify their relationship, Logan’s given the opportunity of a lifetime and Maxx receives a bombshell that will change her entire life. There are some strange undercurrents occurring with Erin and Luke that are not clarified. To be concluded in SAVOR…

~ SAVOR (part 5) – Released January 3, 2015 ~

Lately, Logan “Unbreakable” Kellar’s life has been a series of miscommunications with catastrophic consequences. However, this time around, the consequences threaten to not only damage his current relationships but erase a future he only ever dreamed of. Will Logan lose everything he’s ever hoped for or will he finally be able to break the cycle of his mistakes and get the future he is so desperate to Savor?

Novella: approximately 140 pages. Serial Conclusion.
Same Alternating POV with eye-roll inducing mental asides. Same characters, plot picking up right where HUSH left off. Logan’s left for California after signing to go pro. Maxx still has shared her life-altering news, but rather decided she and Dean are going to surprise him in Vegas at his first professional bout. Once again poor reactions and miscommunication causes tempers to flare and creates yet another :poop: storm. Pride needs to be swallowed and some tough decisions need to be made if they want any chance and saving and keeping their dysfunctional family intact. The conflicts are mostly resolved now and the story is mostly concluded. There are hints that at least one book or serial will be in the future to follow Stuart, Luke, Erin, CJ, Tony and a more grown-up Dean. There were a few minor surprises and twists. Overall, I’d recommend reading the serial as a book, not part by part.

Smut Book Junkie Reviewer Michel’s 2014 Favorite Books

sbjbannerfavor2014

michel

Wow! 2014 was an incredible year for readers as well as my place in the reading community.  I started the year as a reviewer for Hesperia Loves Book Blog.  It was an incredible adventure working with Alyssa and the other girls from Hesperia.  I learned a lot about the publishing industry, was exposed to new authors, met other incredible readers & authors, and learned the power of reviews.  In June of 2014 Hesperia Loves Books Blogs closed.  Smut Book Junkie Reviews was gracious and gave me a new home to share my love of reading with others.  It has been a welcoming and joyous experience.

I attended fourteen huge author events in 2014 and clocked over 6000 miles.  I met so many of my rockstars, the authors that have fed my addiction and gave me many hours of entertainment and enjoyment. The first author event I attended in 2014 was in Nashville.  Jasinda & Jack Wilder, Abbi Glines, Tiffany King, and Chelsea M. Cameron put on an event at the Vanderbilt Barnes & Noble. It was an intimate signing that gave the readers a chance to get to know these authors. It was great fun.

photo-2photo-6From that point on my year became very busy.  I made my yearly pilgrimage to the J.R. Ward Black Dagger Brotherhood release event.  I have been attending her BDB events since 2008 when they were small and more intimate.  At the 2014 event I got to witness one of my favorite writer’s, Laura Kaye, get recognized and praised by J.R. Ward herself.  I cried right along with Laura.  Afterwards, squee…., Laura Kaye and Jennifer L. Armentrout had lunch with our FB BDB group.  I got to share appetizers and dessert with Laura and Jen.  They are truly awesome women.

photo-3

The year just kept getting better.  I had the opportunity to work the Nashville Author Event with some of the top New Adult/ Contemporary authors.  We attended the premier of Fault In Our Stars courtesy of the authors.  We also attended an exclusive concert by Griffin Peterson, the musician/ songwriter that collaborated with Colleen Hoover for the Maybe Someday novel.

I attended several author events throughout the summer and fall.  I assisted Carey Heywood in Atlanta, drove with Kelly to Indianapolis and back in one day, and had a great time with Sawyer Bennett and her street team Bennett’s Babes.  I got to meet some of the drool worthy hunky cover models.  Through those 6000 miles I had the opportunity to meet so many fantastic authors, other fabulous readers, and  new friends.

The most incredible part of 2014 was the BOOKS.  There were so many fantastic books published it was impossible to read every book I wanted to.  My kindle and nooks are loaded to the max with books.  My to be read list could span from one end of the country to the other end.  In the end I met my 2014 Goodreads Reading Challenge of 200 Books.  I read and reviewed 360 books in 2014.  Each book was savored, cherished, and loved. It was impossible to choose my favorites.  In the end I choose books that left a lasting impression on my personal senses and individual make up.

I am looking forward to what the reading world of 2015 has in store for me!

Smut Book Junkie Reviewer Robin’s 2014 Favorites

sbjbannerfavor2014

robin

It’s been an incredible year for the reading community. The number of quality novels released over the past year has certainly been notable, making it extremely difficult for me to choose my favorite novels for this year-end post. I have 61 books included on my 2014 Favorites bookshelf on Goodreads. Of those 61 books, there were many that were not named to my year-end list because I simply did not have room for them all. As you review the choices for my favorite books, the important thing to remember is there are many quality books I was unable to read. It’s great that we have several reviewers with Smut Book Junkie Book Reviews who read many different authors, novels and genres. Please be sure to check out their favorite choices because there are so many great books to choose from.

As of December 29, I have read 125 books of my 150 book goal for 2014. Early in the year, I realized it would be difficult for me to reach my goal due to the amount of reviews that I write. I am not quick at writing. I am also not fast at reading. Some of our reviewers are very quick at doing both, but we all work very hard to get the word out about the novels that we read. It’s a labor of love, but we all enjoy sharing our thoughts with you about each book we are scheduled to review.

I started the year as a reviewer for Hesperia Loves Books. Six months into 2014, Hesperia Loves Books closed. I was very excited and thankful to affiliate with Smut Book Junkie Book Reviews.

1797397_10202782966593068_432815673_nI traveled to several author events this year. My favorite event was the New Orleans Author Event at the beginning of February. I spent nearly a week in the Big Easy. I was a volunteer for this event, assisting event attendees and authors, alike. One of the highlights of my trip included attending a dinner with author Tarryn Fisher and my fellow Passionate Little Nutcases. Another fun highlight of my trip was to finally meet so many of my reading friends in person and spending time with them on Bourbon Street and in the French Quarter.

10320491_10152445385943396_2648161729619905352_nThe last event Michel and I attended as reviewers for Hesperia photoLoves Books was in June in Nashville, Tennessee. Hesperia Loves Books was actually a sponsor for this event, and we had a great time volunteering for this small gathering of quality authors. On Friday night, we were very excited to have the opportunity to attend a showing of The Fault in our Stars with the authors from the event. But the best part of the weekend was attending a concert for American Idol contestant Griffin Peterson, directly after the author signing. For those of you who are not aware, Griffin collaborated with Colleen Hoover to write a soundtrack for her New Adult novel, Maybe Someday.

10388117_10152413134728396_6329323221028368909_nI also attended the Cincy Author Event that took place at the Newport Aquarium in Newport, Kentucky in May, and author events in Atlanta, Georgia in August and the Rebels and Readers Author Event in Huntington, West Virginia in November.
