Synopsis

A sexy small town romance from New York Times and USA Today Bestselling author Jessie Evans

This ride is going to last a lot longer than eight seconds…

Female professional bull rider, Reece Hearst, graduated from the school of hard knocks. With honors. Because life is like bull riding–when it sends you to the dirt, you do whatever it takes to get on your feet, even if you have to crawl. Like when officials stripped her of her rodeo queen title on the basis of vicious gossip years ago and not even her father would believe her side of the story. Reece could have stayed in the dust, wallowing. Instead, she fixed Lonesome Point in her rearview, joined the pro circuit, and never looked back. But now a serious injury threatens to end her career and she’s back in Lonesome Point, living next door to the family that once made her life a living hell.

After multiple tours of duty in Afghanistan and his father’s death, all Grayson Parker wants is to get his family’s cattle business back in the black and live a quiet life. But the return of Reece Hearst opens old wounds, throwing his ordered world into chaos. Grayson was serving overseas when Reece was a teenager and can’t believe the girl he once knew has grown into a heartbreaker as hardened as she is beautiful.

Grayson finds a kindred spirit in wounded Reece and soon longs to be the man to show her that there is life after pain and loss. But can two people as damaged as Reece and Grayson find their way to happily ever after? Or will the scars on their hearts forever keep them apart?

Tracey’s Review

Grayson Parker’s return home to Lonesome Point isn’t exactly a happy homecoming. Not only is he having to work to rebuild his family ranch, he’s also taking care of his sister, Layla, who has come back home to escape an abusive marriage. Reece Hearst, hometown girl and rodeo star, is hiding from some things herself, and hopes that a quick trip back to the town she couldn’t wait to leave will give her the respite that she’s looking for. When Reece approaches him in a bar on Christmas Eve looking for some no-strings fun (the kind that he hasn’t been interested in for a very long time), Grayson can’t help but be intrigued. Reece is like no woman he’s ever met, and the sparks are flying like crazy in no time.

Each time I read the newest book in the Lonesome Point, TX, series by Jessie Evans, I think it’s the best one yet. Every single time. And, whichever book it is, it IS the best, every single time. I have fallen in love with each of her strong and sexy cowboys, with each spunky heroine, that inhabit this little town in Texas. Jessie has created characters that touch the heart, that draw me, as a reader, in, and keep me turning the pages until I’ve taken in every word. GLITTER AND GRIT, Jessie’s latest Lonesome Point book, continues the trend, in such a wonderful way. Grayson is probably one of my favorite of Jessie’s men to date. He’s honorable, strong, committed to those that he loves, and not afraid to go after what he wants. Reece, too, is her own person. She’s gone through a lot, and is afraid to form deep bonds because of it. Seeing her evolve into a woman willing to take on her demons and emerge not only victorious, but free to grow into a woman able to forgive and love, is absolutely heartwarming. Grayson and Reece both have baggage, and some heavy stuff at that. Uncomfortable issues are raised in this book, things that are all too present in the real world, but, in typical Jessie fashion, the darkness is conquered with love. There is humor, seriously hot sexy times, witty banter, and the kind of love that makes my toes tingle because it’s just SO wonderful. Talk about ‘feels,’ this book is full of them.

Jessie has raised the bar with each new book, so I’m waiting to see what’s next for Lonesome Point. I’m really hoping that Layla and Cole get their book next, because the seeds were sown in GLITTER AND GRIT, and I’m definitely ready to see where those two go. No matter which book is next, though, it can’t come soon enough. 5+ ‘get this book and read it now’ stars.

The Pact

By Karina Halle

Release Date- Early 2015

Synopsis

*The Pact is a standalone, contemporary adult romance*

It all started with a pinky swear…

Linden McGregor is tall, rugged, and gunslinger handsome; a helicopter pilot with a Scottish brogue and charm to spare. He’s also one of Stephanie Robson’s best friends and has fit into that box for as long as she’s known him.

Beautiful, funny and an ambitious businesswoman (with one hell of an ass), Stephanie Robson is one of Linden McGregor’s best friends and has fit into that box for as long as he’s known her.

But some relationships can’t be boxed, can’t be classified, can’t be tamed.

Back in their mid-twenties and tired of the competitive hit-or-miss dating scene of San Francisco, Steph and Linden made a pact to marry each other if neither one of them are in a serious relationship by the time they hit thirty.

It sounds like fun and games but as the years to thirty tick past and lovers come and go out of their lives, the pact becomes larger than life.
Sex is inevitable. Friendships are tested. Hearts are on the line.

The pact is about to change everything.

The Prologue

The (*unedited*) Prologue:
*Please note: this prologue is unedited, and subject to change.*

Prologue

“So, do you want to get married?’”

I’m so wrapped up in in what went wrong with my date tonight that I barely hear what Linden is saying. And that’s saying a lot because he usually has my rapt attention no matter what’s going on. I guess tonight’s dinner with Mr. Assface was just too much for me. I mean, what kind of guy wears an ascot and picks his nose in front of you?

“Steph,” he repeats in his light Scottish brogue and I finally tear my eyes off the bubbles in my beer to look at him. Sometimes he makes me wonder why I even bother looking at anyone else, he’s just that fucking handsome.

He’s also my best friend. And I’m pretty sure he just asked me to marry him.

“What?” I ask, trying to make sure I heard him right.
He grins at me. I wish he wouldn’t. Sometimes his smile rips the air from lungs. It’s not an exaggeration. It’s messy, violent and abrupt and I wish it wouldn’t happen because, fuck it, I like breathing.

“I said, do you want to get married?” he says and I’m realizing that perhaps some extremely important conversation has gone on without me knowing about it. Also, Linden…marriage…these things don’t exactly gel together.

“Uh,” I say, and I wish I didn’t feel the heat creep onto my cheeks. “Get married? To you?”

He shrugs and takes a sip of his beer in his easy-going fashion. The bar is dead quiet at this time of night except the music, Faith No More’s aggressive King for a Day that James always puts on when the night is over and he wants people to leave.

James, the owner of The Burgundy Lion, my ex-boyfriend and Linden’s best friend, is puttering about, cleaning up the tables and shooting passive-aggressive looks at the group of four who is gathered in the corner, the only other people left in the bar at ten minutes to closing.

“Yeah, to me,” Linden eventually says, casually, as if we are deciding which movies to see this weekend. “But I also meant in general.”

I stare at him for a few beats. He looks self-assured as always, rubbing his fingers along the length of his beard as he stares at me right back. Linden and I are close – as close as you can be for a purely platonic man and woman scenario. But even so, we’d never really discussed topics like this. Our shitty dating lives, yes. But marriage and the future, what we really wanted from life? No.

“Let me get this straight,” I say but I can’t find the words to continue. I take in a deep breath. “You’re asking me to marry you?”

He sighs and sits back in his chair, one strong forearm hung over the back, his fingers toying with the ends of my newly dyed jet-black hair.

“Baby Blue,” he says, his own personal nickname for me stemming from the fact that when we first met, I had blue hair the color of Caribbean waters. “Tell me about your date again.”

I give him a look. “I’d rather not, cowboy.” My nickname for him since he has the chiseled looks and furrowed brow of a young Clint Eastwood. Also, sometimes he’s a bit of a chauvinistic asshole as most stereotypical gunslingers can be.

“Right. And I’d rather not get into why the last five dates of mine ended with me jerking it in the shower.”

Pleeeeeease don’t make me think of you jerking it in the shower, I think, or things are going to get really inappropriate, really fast. At least in my head. Then again, my head is usually always inappropriate. It’s like a Pintrest page of hot, barely dressed men 24/7 up in there.

“And so,” he goes on, forcing my attention back his words and not naughty images, “don’t you start wondering if this is going to get any easier? You’re beautiful, smart, I’m beautiful, smart,” he pauses and smiles to himself, “obviously. We’re turning twenty-five this year…what if we have to keep dealing with this? All this shit, never going anywhere.”

I raise a brow, not really sure what to do with this side of him. Is he pulling my leg or being genuine? He always has that dickish smirk not matter what kind of shit he’s saying and he’s pulled the rug out from under me more than a few times.

“Well, I like to think my life might take more of an optimistic path,” I tell him.

He smiles and nods. “And it should. It really should, I mean look at you.”

Look at me? I think, wondering what exactly he sees.

“But what if the planet is full of fucking morons? Then what…” he trails off and looks around the bar before he leans in and only then do I look close into his dark blue eyes and see that he’s drunk. “We’re good for each other. You know this makes perfect sense.”

I don’t know what I think. “You’re drunk, Linden.”

“I’m a man with a plan.”

“Since when have your life plans ever involved marriage?”

He shrugs and runs a hand through his thick, mahogany hair. “You may be one of my best friends, Baby Blue, but you don’t know everything about me.”

“Apparently not.”

His mouth quirks up into a half-smile. “But when we’re married there will be plenty of time for that. Also, sex.”

Okay, now I can see this is kind of a joke for him, as most things in life are. “What if I never want to get married?” I point out, putting the image of us having hot, sweaty sex out of my mind.

“When have I ever waxed on about marriage or babies or life plans?”

“Never,” he admits. “But it doesn’t mean you don’t think about it. Why else would you always be dating?”

“Because I like to get laid.”

He laughs. “Another reason why we’re a perfect match.”

I purse my lips, staring at him. I think I need another drink.

Linden reads my mind. He gets up off the bar stool and walks behind the bar. James isn’t paying attention and even if he was, he wouldn’t say anything. Linden and I were twenty-one, James twenty-three, when the three of us first started working at The Burgundy Lion. Linden and I eventually went on to bigger and hopefully better things, while James ended up buying the place. There’s still a bit of an employee mentality for us – I don’t think James has ever charged us for a drink.

Linden takes two bottles of Anchor Steam out of the fridge and slides them to me. It’s our annual autumn heatwave in San Francisco and Linden has the sleeves of his rumpled grey dress shirt rolled up, showcasing his strong, tanned forearms and the Charles Bukowski quotes he has tattooed on the insides. He’s wearing a pair of khaki knee-length shorts that highlight his toned ass. On his feet are his worn black Keds that I think he’s had ever since we first met, but it suits him.

If it’s wrong to occasionally ogle your best friend, I don’t want to be right.

“So what do you say?” he asks as he sits back down beside me.
“You’re actually serious?”

He nods and nudges the beer towards me. “Drink up and then maybe you’ll say yes. I have to say, you’re bruising my ego a little bit here.”

“That’s not a bad thing,” I tell him and I mean it. Linden McGregor is funny, kind, smart, handsome and ambitious. He’s got a BA in business and is almost done getting his helicopter pilot’s license. He’s one hot package that any girl would be lucky to snatch up.

But he’s also egotistical, cocky, arrogant and a player. It’s hard to get any real emotion out of him other than intensity – he’s got this way of looking at you, at life, like he’s trying to spear you alive. He lives his life on the selfish side, can be passionate about something (or someone) one minute, then indifferent the next. He’s a complicated guy and one that I am honored to call my best friend.

Yet, marriage – hell, a relationship – is a whole new ballgame when it comes to him and not one I’m ready or willing to play. Yes, I think he’s gorgeous, yes the way he looks at me sometimes does foolish things to my stomach, yes I have often thought about sleeping with him.

I mean, more than I should.

But this kind of agreement wouldn’t work.

Luckily, I know Linden is just joking around.

I take a long sip of my beer, making him sweat it out a little bit, push my thumb into that bruise on his ego, before I nod and say, “Fine.”

“Are you serious?”

“I guess so?”

He smiles broadly enough for those secret dimples to pop up. “You’ve made me a very lucky man, Stephanie Robson.”

I roll my eyes. “We’ll see about that. With any luck, we’ll both be in serious relationships by age thirty and I won’t have to entertain the thought of doing your laundry for the rest of my life.”

“Or doing me,” he adds with a wink which only prompts another eye roll from me. “Pinky swear on it. You know I don’t break those.”

And it’s true, he doesn’t. Maybe he’s more serious about this than I thought.

I swallow and hold out my pinky finger. He swiftly wraps his around mine, his skin hot and soft to touch.

“If neither of us are in a serious relationship by the time we are both thirty,” he says, looking me so dead in the eye that I can’t help but hold my breath, “then we agree to marry each other. Agree?”

I find my voice. “Agree.”

He then pulls my hand toward his mouth and kisses the top of it. Even more air is taken from my lungs.

“I think I just made the best back-up plan ever,” he says, his lips moving against my skin before he lets go of my hand and picks up his beer instead, clinking it against mine. “To us.”

I mouth the words but they don’t come out.

“Damn, it took them forever to leave,” James says as he comes over to us. “How many times can I say ‘we’re closing soon’ before they get the hint.”

“Maybe you oughta start pulling a gun out,” Linden says. “Or better yet, start singing.”

“Shut up,” James tell him. “I sing back-up once and I never live it down.” Linden and James used to be in a local band together, with Linden on vocals and lead guitar and James on bass but although they were good, they weren’t really good enough to keep going. San Francisco has a pretty competitive indie scene.

“Oh guess what?” Linden says, his eyes sparkling.

“Do I dare?” James asks with a sigh as he moves behind the bar to start wiping down the counter for the millionth time.

“Steph and I are getting married,” he says brightly.

James pausing and looks up at me to gauge Linden’s validity. “It’s true,” I say, though it doesn’t sound sincere.

“What?” he asks, now looking at the both of us. I want to say there isn’t a hint of hurt threading his brow but I can’t be sure. Sometimes I forget that we used to be lovers, which is kind of ridiculous. It was only a few days after I started working at The Burgundy Lion, when James and I hit it off and ended up dating for a year. Linden was his best friend and that’s how I got to know him.

Obviously the break-up was fairly amicable because James and I are still good friends, but when it came down to it, I broke up with him and though he acted like it was more or less mutual, I always wondered if I’d hurt him more than I thought.

“You know I like my back-up plans,” Linden goes on. “So we made a pact. If neither one of us are in a serious relationship when we hit thirty, we get married.”

James blinks at us before tucking a strand of his shaggy black hair behind his ears. “This is the stupidest idea I’ve ever heard of.”

Linden raises his chin. “Aw, don’t be jealous, man.”

James scoffs. “I’m not jealous. The two of you in a marriage? World’s pickiest woman with the world’s biggest manwhore? Yeah, have fun with that.”

“Hey,” I say indignantly. I’m not that picky.

But Linden takes no offence. “Oh we will. So why don’t you pop open some champagne to celebrate with us?”

James gives him a pointed look. “Are you the one buying?”

He shrugs. “It’s our pre-engagement present from you.”

James sighs heavily, like he has some weight on his shoulders, but concedes. He always concedes to Linden. “Fine,” he says, and brings out a bottle of sparkling wine from the fridge. It pops open with a flourish and he pours it into mason jar glasses.

We cheers to the pact once again and then lapse into our normal conversation about the latest bands, movies, TV shows, hockey (James and Linden are huge fans of the San Jose Sharks).

I sip my drink and can’t help but feel the slightest bit relieved. In five years, all the dating and the strife could be over. In five years, there’s the tiniest possibility that I could marry my best friend.

I wonder if five years is long enough to change my mind.

Excerpt

Before I could react, he had pried my legs apart and was working along my inner right thigh, moving slowly upward. By now, my reservations were gone and I surrendered to him. And when his fingers reached the junction between my legs, I gasped when his hands slipped under my butt and gripped my cheeks, squeezing them in his hands. He could see every intimate part of me, I was sure of it. Letting go of my butt, his hands came around to my folds. At that moment, when his finger slipped between my legs, I clapped my hand over my mouth, suppressing my scream.

His fingers moved along my folds, tracking my wetness up and down. I was so wet at this point that my insides heaved with desire as he stroked me. I wanted to cry out, ask him what he was doing, but I didn’t. I let him manipulate my folds, slowly, methodically bringing me to orgasm. My hips began rocking in time with his hands. God, those hands were making me feel things I never thought possible. I could feel my climax building, like a wave caught in the shallows it was gaining momentum, waiting to wash over me.

I was at his mercy now. I ached for release and was willing to do anything to achieve it. But when his finger inched back and forth over my vagina, teasing me with the promise of what was to come. I bit my lip, desperate for him to penetrate me. His fingers did not wait long to slip inside of me, and when I felt the pressure of him moving deeper, I arched my back and moaned. He was rubbing back and forth over that spot, the one so many men try to find but give up. Well, Mr. Hands knew exactly where my spot was, and as he slowly moved in and out of me, I knew I was going to come harder than I had ever come before.

Synopsis

Makin’ a list, and rocking it…twice.

Perpetual good girl Lacey McGuire has two Christmas wish lists. One suitable for public consumption…and a private one that’s too hot to handle. Right at the top: wild, wicked fantasies about her best buddies and business partners Ryan Hollister and Bram Colton.

Ry and Bram are pretty sure Lacey never meant to email a list of some of her raunchiest wants. Particularly the one that tightens their shorts—she wants a threesome. With them. Although they’ve loved her for years, they made a pact to keep Lacey off limits in order to protect their friendship. Now all bets are off. And the quest to give her all she wants—and more—is on.

— In Review —
M/F/M Holiday Novella, 100 – 150 pages.
Bram has the looks of a surfer and is more carefree and fun-loving. Ryan is darker in coloration and more serious and intense. Lacey’s the smart, beautiful and “boring” girl. The boys are in love with her and she with them, but only Bram and Ry know how the other feels. Lacey, Bram and Ryan have been best friends since high school and now they run a bar and restaurant together.
The personalities of the three are lively, intense and passionate. There are plenty of laugh out loud moments between the mental meanderings and the verbal sparring. After drunk-emailing a Christmas Wish List by accident, every kinky desire is known and the guys are more than happy to fulfill her -and their own- fantasies.
Once the list is “out”, the story line kind of re-prioritizes, keeping the sexual tension and encounters in the foreground and pushing any real elemental depth back. There was some conflicting drama available to add a bit of dimension that lingered throughout the story, but was resolved quite suddenly in the end. A solid ending was provided with minimal predictability.

An enjoyable, fun, quick Raunchy Holiday read!

Synopsis

Fantasies – we all have them.

For some it’s their dream job; others want the wedding, the 2.5 kids, the white picket fence.

My fantasies are a bit more…depraved.

Dark and sinful, they have destroyed relationships and my livelihood, yet I still submit to them like a slave.

Sex.

For most, it’s a natural expression of love, caring, or lust.

But there are those of us who can’t stop once we’ve had a taste.

Those of us who don’t want to.

And the shame of that never-ending cycle will eat us alive…

My name is Evan James, and I am a sex addict.

Excerpt

“Come here.”

Evan James crooked his finger at the blonde currently shimmying back into her minuscule, tight, black dress. The same one she’d worn last night that had called like a siren’s song to his cock in the middle of the dimly lit club.

She looked over at him with heavy-lidded eyes and held the barely there fabric still around her waist. His eyes zoomed in on the impressive breasts overflowing out of her sheer, black bra. Covered, but not enough.

His mouth watered, and he wanted to drag her back to the bed and take hold of her ripe nipple before pulling the fabric down and out of his way to take her fully into his mouth again.

After having had her so many times in the last few hours, she’d no doubt taste of him on every inch of her soft skin. He liked that. Before, she’d tasted faintly of vanilla musk—a fragrance he wasn’t overly fond of. He’d made quick, dirty work of her though, marking and leaving his scent on her with his lips, his sex, his come, and he figured one last go-round before sending her on her way would suppress his craving for at least a couple of days.

He hoped. His appetite was voracious.

“Can’t get enough, can you?” She leaned down over the edge of the bed and placed her hands there, giving him an ample view of what he wanted. Now.

He narrowed his eyes. “Don’t play with me.”

Blondie tsked and put her knees on the mattress, crawling on all fours toward him. “Oh, baby, I told you you’d never want me to leave once you got inside.”

She was right about that much. If he could live in pussy, he would. It was his weakness, his addiction, the one thing he’d give up anything and everything for. And he nearly had.

Tracey’s Review

I was not quite sure what to expect with this book. I mean, we all know Ella Frank, and her awesome, hot, sexy, romantic books. But this book, this was something different. Ella, along with Brooke Blaine, was stepping out into the world of serial writing, and it sort of came out of nowhere. Nothing to do, though, but dive in.

OMGoodness, this book. Evan James is a mess, one hot, sexy, total and utter mess. You wouldn’t know it to look at him. He seems like he’s got it together, like he’s at the top of his game. But, inside, well, that’s another story. Because Evan has got some secrets, secrets that have made him what he is. And what he is, is an addict, at the mercy of his mind and his body. He craves sex, and he craves it all of the time. But he doesn’t do repeat performances, not, that is, until Reagan Spencer. Because once she’s in his life, she’s all that he can think about, even though she’s forbidden fruit.

Ella and Brooke have given us one heck of an introduction into Evan’s world, hinting at the things in his past that have shaped his current life. He’s crashed and burned, and is currently on track to rebuild himself, to create a new persona. He is, frankly, pretty unlikeable, while still being somewhat sympathetic (yes, it’s true). Part 2 of this series is due out in early 2015, and I cannot wait to see what is in store for him, for Reagan, and to see more of what has happened to make him the man that he is. So, if you, like I was, are wondering what this book is all about, grab it, read it, and prepare for a read like nothing you’d anticipated; you will not be sorry.

About the Authors

Brooke Blaine

You could say Brooke Blaine was a book-a-holic from the time she knew how to read; she used to tell her mother that curling up with one at 4 a.m. before elementary school was her ‘quiet time.’ Not much has changed except for the espresso I.V. pump she now carries around and the size of her onesie pajamas.

Her first solo novel, a romantic comedy, is due out in early 2015, but first, she thought she’d write a raunchy story with her best friend that would scar her conservative southern family for life.

If you’d like to get in touch with her, she’s easy to find – just keep an ear out for the Rick Astley ringtone that’s dominated her cell phone for ten years.

The Christmas Cabin by Emma Cane
Sandy and her young son, Nate, are Christmas tree–hunting when a snowstorm strikes and an old ranch hand points them to an abandoned cabin. Little does Sandy know he sent cowboy Doug Thalberg to the same place. It’s a Christmas all of Valentine Valley will remember.

This novella opens with Sandy and Doug Thalberg hosting a family gathering in their cozy cabin in the woods and traditional retelling of a romantic tale that began two days before Christmas. Reporter, Jessica Fitzpatrick, sits in to hear the local, infamous story first-hand. The tale is not told in a narrative form, but rather as if it were happening real-time. It concludes with the family and Jessica in the cabin.
The full cast of characters are well-written. The plot, dialogue and character interaction are believable, flow is smooth. Because of the time frame and novella length, it’s hard to pack a lot of dynamics in, but it did have some minor dimension. The conflicts were fairly mild and handled maturely. Predictability was virtually nil. Overall, a super short, but sweet, read.

Can’t Wait by Jennifer Ryan
Before The Hunted Series began …
Though she is the woman of his dreams, Caleb Bowden knows his best friend’s sister, Summer Turner, is off limits. He won’t cross that line, which means Summer will just have to take the reins if she wants her cowboy for Christmas.

Summer is in love with Caleb, but Caleb has it in his mind that regardless how he feels about Summer, he cannot act upon it because she is Jack’s little sister. Jack’s his best friend and there’s a bro-code to follow. If that’s not enough, they served in Iraq together and he feels he owes his life to Jack. Even more, now he’s even working for Jack on the ranch. To say Summer is off-limits is an understatement. But she’s determined as all get-out to make him hers.
Very few novellas manage to create character depth and a full and dynamic plot worthy of a 5-star rating from me, but… here we are. Is it possible for a reader to fall in love with a novella’s hero? Most definitely. Caleb and Jack’s tormented souls each deserve a full-length novel. Great characters, written with loads of depth and dimension. The dialogue is smart and sassy by turns. The plot is very enjoyable and flows so smoothly I wanted more. The entire plot was based on the conflict, which obviously gets resolved in a wonderful way. I easily would have enjoyed this story and these characters if it would have been a full-length novel and am intrigued with the rest of the series as a result.

Baby It’s Cold Outside by Katie Lane
Alana Hale hits the internet dating jackpot when she finds Clint McCormick. He’s sensitive and responsible—not to mention wealthy. When he invites her to spend the holidays on his family’s ranch, she readily accepts. But on the way there, a blizzard strands her with a womanizing rodeo cowboy who could change everything …

Alana perpetually makes poor decisions when it comes to men, but she’s done with that. Through an online date-matching site, she finds her perfect man. She decides to surprise him for the Holidays at the family ranch in Taos, NM but the Hawaiian is ill-prepared for the blizzard that causes her to slide into a ditch somewhere on the ranch’s property. She’s even less prepared for a snow-laden calf or a sexy Cowboy Viking – Winter Warrior that finds her.
This was a fun read. I totally and thoroughly enjoyed Alana. Her winter warrior wasn’t too bad either. This was a REALLY short story, or is was written so well that it felt shorter than short. The flow, dialogue, interaction was smooth and believable. The plot was light and fun. Not predictable, really. There was just enough dynamics and dimension to keep it from being flat. A very well-liked novella.

Emma Cane

emma caneEmma Cane grew up reading and soon discovered that she liked to write passionate stories of teenagers in space. Her love of “passionate stories” has never gone away, although today she concentrates on the heartwarming characters of Valentine Valley, her fictional small town in the Colorado Rockies.

Now that her three children are grown, Emma loves spending time crocheting and singing (although not necessarily at the same time), and hiking and snowshoeing alongside her husband Jim and two rambunctious dogs Apollo and Uma.

Emma also writes USA Today bestselling historical romances under the name Gayle Callen.

Jennifer Ryan

jennifer ryanNew York Times and USA Today bestselling author of The Hunted Series and The McBride Series. Jennifer writes romantic suspense and contemporary small-town romances.

Jennifer lives in the San Francisco Bay Area with her husband and three children. When she isn’t writing a book, she’s reading one. Her obsession with both is often revealed in the state of her home and how late dinner is to the table. When she finally leaves those fictional worlds, you’ll find her in the garden, playing in the dirt and daydreaming about people who live only in her head, until she puts them on paper.

Katie Lane

Katie Lane’s interest in romance was sparked in high school in the backseat of a ’65 mustang-okay, so maybe it wasn’t romance as much as raging teenage hormones. Still, coupled with a wild imagination, those make-out sessions inspired many a steamy storyline along with a strong belief that true love does prevail. Katie lives in Albuquerque, New Mexico with the owner of that mustang and would love to hear from her readers.

Excerpt

~Ryan

The biggest moment of my life found me unexpectedly. It crept up softly, and settled around me like a fuzzy blanket. A mere whisper; it hit me like a sledgehammer. At the time, I knew it was significant, but I didn’t realize just how those few seconds would change absolutely everything: how one brief glance could leave such an indelible stamp on the remainder of my life. It would become a contradiction; an unstoppable force that would send me reeling out of my control, churning and shredding my emotions, but create the most incredible contentment I’d ever feel. Contentment that could wrap me up in a warm, safe place or devastate me to the core and leave my heart in shambles. It would become years of want and pain, lust and love… It would hurt like the deepest hell, but become the most euphoric and precious ecstasy I’d ever know. I’d never forget that day, that moment; that glance.

It would wreck me. It would make me.

~Morgan~

Looking at my phone screen, I smile at the text in front of me.

I’m off 2nite. Movie @ ur house or mine?

Texting back, I tell my best friend I will be at her house after work with takeout. Working in a bank, I have every weekend off. Casey’s career path is far different than mine, though, and it is one that requires weekend time; as a result, this is the first Friday she has had off in a while.

My day drags on as I review current investment portfolios and market changes. I have the best job ever. I get paid to spend other people’s money as an investment broker here in South Beach. My life is sun, sand, and dollar bills.

Before going to Casey’s, I stop by my condo and change clothes. The down side to my job is the stuffy suits I have to wear: reasonable, past knee-length skirts, reasonable women’s dress pants, and reasonable button up shirts. I might hate them; yet, in a sad way, the dress code fits my life—reasonable.

It is not long into girl’s night before the difference in our lifestyle’s show.

“Damn, we’re not even halfway through the first movie, and you’re ready for bed? What the hell? Grandparents stay up later than you,” My best friend wakes me out of my doze.

“Sorry, some of us keep normal business hours.”

“Yeah, your hours scream forty-two, not twenty-four, as does everything else in your life.”

“I’m not that bad,” I protest half-heartedly. However, that voice of doubt says “maybe I am.” Maybe my stiff upbringing has rubbed off on me more than I care to admit.

My parents raised me to be an example. As the oldest of three, I had to be the light to guide my younger sisters, Madyson and Mallory. Everything with my parents was about fitting the mold, keeping up appearances. Their brainwashing worked to some degree. Going away to college did nothing for me in my attempt to escape my overbearing parents, either. No, they live in my head, every rule engraved into my brain matter. Too bad no one warned me there is no cure and no escape once they get those rules engrained into my very being.

Morgan Ann Powell: pathetic, stiff, borderline pseudo-old lady, and a college educated, suit wearing, have my shit together prude—that is me. I am, quite possibly, the only woman in her twenties who can count on one hand how many guys she has kissed. I am also a twenty-four-year-old virgin. I wouldn’t know what to do with a penis if it was given to me gift wrapped in Christmas paper and topped with a bow. I am not cut out for parties, guys, or any wild times, either. My destiny is to be the old lady who lives alone, feeding all the stray cats in the neighborhood.

ICE teaser1

4.5 star

Michel’s Review

Ice by Jessie Lane and Chelsea Camaron is the first book in the Regulators MC series.

What a fantastic start! The very first paragraph caught my attention and I was hooked to the end. This book had all the gritty elements readers expect from a biker romance. It was not a fluffy romance. This book also had a very unique flavor to it.

Ice is the president of the Regulators MC. He is retired special ops forces and now makes his own rules in life. He is also a single father of a sixteen year old daughter. Trying to be a good father and keep her heading in the right direction as well as running the Regulators is no easy task. We all know how sixteen year old girls can be. We all know teenagers can be defiant. Their choices are made on instant gratification rather than looking at the long term effects .

Morgan is an investment banker that lives a very quiet life. Her younger years were spent trying to please parents that had high expectations. It wasn’t because they wanted the best for her, it was about how the family appeared in the social circles. Being the oldest daughter put a lot of pressure on her. Her two younger sisters defied their parents to get their attention in hopes of getting their love. When Morgan’s younger sister is kicked out of their parents house , Morgan ends up taking her in.

Morgan’s sister and Ice’s daughter are best friends. They choose the wrong kinds of friends and end up in a world of trouble. Morgan’s sister ends up being kidnapped by a human trafficking ring. That trafficking ring is the very ring that the Regulators are trying to take down one piece at a time.

The situation brings Morgan and Ice into each others opposite worlds. As we all know, opposites do attract. Morgan and Ice find that they have more than teenagers in common. They have an undeniable chemistry. Together they are sizzling hot.

There is never a dull moment in this book. Action is taking place in many different ways. From the Regulators MC club and it’s members to the troublesome teenagers, a horrific human trafficking faction, and a red hot romance, this book is very busy. The great thing about it is that it works. There is never a hiccup or confusing moment. The story is fast paced, red hot, and touches the heart in many ways. The characters are larger than life.

I would highly recommend Ice. It will not disappoint.

I am looking forward to the next book in the Regulators series.

Chelsea Camaron was born and raised in Coastal North Carolina. She currently resides in Southern Louisiana with her husband and two children but her heart is always Carolina day dreaming.

Chelsea always wanted to be a writer, but like most of us, let fear of the unknown grab a hold of her dream; she realized that if she was going to tell her daughter to go for her dreams, that it was time to follow her own advice.

Chelsea grew up turning wrenches alongside her father, and from that grew her love for old muscle cars and Harley Davidson motorcycles, which just so happened to inspired her ‘Daddy’s Girls’ series. Her love for reading has sparked a new love for writing and she currently has a few more projects in the works.

When she is not spending her days writing you can find her playing with her kids, attending car shows, going on motorcycle rides on the back of her husband’s Harley, snuggling down with her new favorite book or watching any movie that Vin Diesel might happen to be in.

She hates being serious and is still a big kid at heart. She is a small town country girl enjoying life and, Chelsea hopes that her readers remember not to take life too seriously and to embrace your inner five year old, because five year olds know how to enjoy the simple things in life and how to always have fun.
