Seatbelt secure, I stepped hard on the peddle. The car lunged forward and the Kona Blue Mustang reached 60 miles per hour within seconds, and I continued to push the limits. I pressed the clutch to the floor and maneuvered the shifter. Instantly, the low rumble of the exhaust turned to a powerful roar. Bold lights and a vast skyline were blocked by high-rises, becoming blurred lines beyond the windshield. The closer I moved to my destination, the further I drifted from a world of darkness. With corruption looming behind me, I welcomed the light dangling in front of me.
Her light…
My flight got in late to JFK, so now I had to deal with a shitload of traffic heading into Midtown Tunnel. But then a black Yukon Denali drew down on my bumper and flashed its lights about ten times. I let the idiot have fun until we got out of there. From every angle, traffic held steady, but I couldn’t let other drivers keep me from getting to her. At 9:30 on a Friday night, I didn’t have time for this shit.
I caught a break and swerved out of the lane; the Denali followed, lights blinking like before. This was the shit, the childish shit that transferred from childhood to adulthood. And unfortunately, I knew the asshole: my brother, Detective Brendan Michaels.
Not now! Not today! I caressed the wheel, squeezing tighter than before. This was nonsense, but I wasn’t up for the bullshit tonight. So I flashed him off and kept going. Now wasn’t the time for complex family issues. Plotting out my route, I slowly began ramping up the speed.
A red SUV sat in the left lane, in front of me, while a shuttle limo tried to box me in on the right. Dropping my speed enough to force the asshole to pass, I shifted down and cut behind him, skipping over to the second lane in time to trap the idiot trailing me. This was the type of shit that always occurred whenever I made it to the city because he had connections to track me down once I entered his state and mostly importantly, enjoyed riding his younger brother. But I needed the next 2 or 3 hours, just for me and the girl that haunted my dreams.
Holding the wheel steady while keeping the pace, I said, “Call CeCe!” Saying her name nearly took my breath away. If nothing else, life thought me that first love spoiled a man for everyone else.
Thumbing the wheel and waiting to hear her shriek my name, I didn’t breathe. Honestly, I’ve faced off with some of the worse scum to walk this earth, yet she had the ability to crush me. The guys I went up against could only hurt the outer me; CeCe, on the other hand, could shred me from the inside out.
“Greyyy!” Her voice snapped me out of the daydream. “Greyyy!”
“Hey girl,” I muttered, scared like hell of sounding too anxious or desperate. I even sat up in the seat, gripping tighter on the wheel with both hands.
“Don’t tell me you’re not coming, Greyson! The last time you were in town, you promised every month. How long has it been?”
“Ce—“
“No, no you better not disappointment me!”
“I wouldn’t ever do that, CeCe.”
“Don’t patronize me, Greyson!”
“My flight was late, and I’m in traffic. Have you left home yet?” With each word, I tried like hell to slow the heartbeats.
“I’m already on my way,” she sang into the line and it took me back to when we were little kids. I could imagine her lips—the way they’d poke out, pointing at me. And when she’d tilt up her head to gaze into my eyes, looking me full on, pupils diving past the barriers most girls would be too afraid to challenge.
“I can pick you up. Need more time? Where—”
“No… No… And hell no! You’re meeting me, as planned. I need a friendly face. It’s been a long week, Grey. You owe me tonight …” While she went on and on about my disappearing acts, I shot to the exit. Flooring the pedal, then quickly easing into a smooth stop at East 35th Street.
“Celeste, I don’t know what the hell you just said.”
She laughed and I could picture her shaking her head, swooping her long, blonde hair from shoulder to shoulder in a flirty way. I know this girl; shit, I’ve known this girl since her arguments were nothing more than whiny sentences. I’ve known her since those big, blue eyes were even bigger; when her nosey, little ass would come all the way over to my parent’s house, up the street, just to find out what I was doing so she could have something incriminating over my head at any given time. I’ve always known her likes and dislikes, even more than she’d admit to herself even.
That’s the girl I fell for.
I don’t know exactly when it happened, but it did. I fell in love with my best friend’s sister, and I don’t know how to turn off the feelings because something inside of me wanted to go against a childish promise and make her mine. Ours might’ve been a perfect love, if we were different people—if she wasn’t his sister and I wasn’t the man I’d grown into.

Ashley’s Review
“We all have our Demons to bear.”
Great start to an epic new series!! L A Cotton has again set the scene for a story that’ll rivet her readers and leave them savoring for more.
Having endured a very difficult and emotional year, Evangeline “Eva” Walker is determined to rise from the ashes and regain control of her life.
Rafe Hunter has it all… fame, fortune and wicked good looks. Tattooed and pierced he personifies the bad boy rocker.
When Eva’s best friend Molly enters her into a popular talent showcase, Eva is both excited but scared. Determined not to let her or her family down Eva finds herself gaining momentum and exposure within the community.
What she doesn’t expect is to meet a mysterious guy backstage that captures her attention and her heart.
This is the first book in an all new rock star romance.
I’m loving Rafe and Eva and cannot wait to see more of their story.

Good girl Isabella wouldn’t miss the birth of her sister’s baby for the world. So when her car breaks down and one of the bikers next door offers her a ride to Vegas, it’s too tempting to pass up. Michel’s Review
Renegade by Chantal Fernando is the second book in Knights of Fury MC series. Although this is a biker series, it has more of a milder tone rather than the darker themed activities that are in most MC books. Renegade is more of a charming boy next door romance with a little of drama and suspense added in to make the story a bit more intriguing.
Izzy has lived next door to the Knights of Fury MC and has never had any issues with them. When her sister goes into labor, she is in a rush to get to her. Her car breaks down and her neighbors, The Knights step in. They rescue her and take her to her sister so she doesn’t miss the birth of her niece. Thus begins the courtship of Izzy and Renny.
This charming romance had the right amount steam and the right amount of swoon. It may not be the most intense romance or thrilling MC romance but it did leave me with a big smile and happy heart.
Chantal Fernando always delivers a romance that warms the soul.

An inspiring and heartbreaking tale of abandonment, survival, and purpose. A harrowing journey of self-discovery and perseverance.

Michel’s Review
Two Thousand Lines is the first book I have read by author Michelle Jester. This edgy YA novel touches upon topics of abuse and may have emotional triggers. The title of the book is taken from the punishments Olivia received from an early age. Mr. Melvin, her abusive stepfather, did everything in two thousands.
The storyline flashes back from the past to the present. Readers witness the disturbing abuse Olivia has to endure throughout her youth while trying to overcome the past in the present.
Olivia meets her neighbor’s grandson Luke after her death. Luke has heard all about Olivia through letters from his grandmother. Although he felt like he knew a lot about Olivia there was so much more that the words in the letters could describe. He wants to get to know her better and build a friendship but knows Olivia still needs time to heal from her past.
The author paints a vivid picture of Olivia’s life and has the reader wanting Olivia to overcome her past and grasp a happy life. This is Olivia’s story of survival and the courage to move on.
At times the story was a bit confusing and the pacing was a bit off but overall I was thoroughly involved with this gripping, heartbreaking story.

Excerpt
When I finally come face to face with the street artist standing on the side of the pavement, his guitar case open and full of rolled-up notes and change, I understand why his grandfather told me I’d recognize him with the self-assurance of an avid believer.
I’ve never seen someone like him before.
He is beautiful, true, but that’s not what stands out to me. He is radiant.
It’s like his presence has a presence. He sucks the air out of everything in his vicinity, making it impossible not to look at him. Malachy is tailor-made for a huge, colossal heartbreak. Everything about him—his tattered jeans, filthy boots, white shirt, and leather jacket that was broken in decades ago—screams trouble. He looks like a seventies heartthrob. An icon. A Terry Richardson muse. Bruce Springsteen pre-fame.
His voice is like honey and warm spices. It lulls me into a place in my mind I’ve never been before, even though it’s far from beautiful. It is gruff, throaty, and smoky. When someone bumps my shoulder to get closer to him, I snap out of my reverie and realize what I’m listening to.
“One” by U2.
The coincidence is strange. I try to tell myself it’s nothing. This is Ireland. U2 is a national treasure.
His eyes are squeezed shut as he sings. It’s like no one exists other than him and his guitar. Something warm rushes through my skin, like a heat wave, and I shudder in delight.
Warmth.
I always thought there was something melancholy about street performers—the way people walk past them, ignoring their music, their art, their passion. But this guy, he’s the one doing the ignoring. The tables have turned. He’s got the crowd eating from the palm of his hand. Every woman here is under a thick, sweet spell. He’s got that Harry Styles quality that makes girls want to bed him and older women want to adopt him. The men are a cross between impatient, annoyed, and jealous. You can see it in the way they tap their feet, check their watches, nudge their wives and girlfriends to move it.
The song ends, and Malachy Doherty cracks his eyes open and stares directly at me, like he knew I’d be here. Like he watched me watching him through closed eyes. Disoriented—and for some reason wanting to do something, anything—I throw a bill into his guitar case and look away, realizing to my horror that I threw the fifty euros his grandpa gave me. Everyone around me murmurs and whistles. They think it was intentional. I can feel my face flaming red. I bet he thinks I want to sleep with him.
Do I? Probably. But should he know that? Hell no.

“Sometimes you meet people who are out of this world, so you make them a part of yours.”
In the Unlikely Event is a brand new and unique story by LJ Shen. This story is nothing like what you’d expect from the beloved LJ but I can promise that it will still leave you with all the feels.
This book is angsty, beautiful, honest and raw which makes it so special and memorable. It was witty, funny and sometimes unusual too. Together these things created a recipe for a wonderful and unforgettable story.
Mal and Rory met 8 years ago and made a promise. If they ever ran into one another again in the future, they’d marry regardless of what their current status was in life.
Mal and Rory will go down as one of the most memorable couples in book history. Their chemistry was hot but their communication was not! There were times where I yelled at my Kindle but I wouldn’t trade those feelings for anything. Mal and Rory were true soulmates and I loved watching their insane story unfold.
This book is multi-POV giving readers multi-views of characters. I loved that all the characters had their own flaws and revelations that came to light throughout the story. Some of the POV’s were just odd. A cow? A napkin? A Candy bar? However odd it seemed; it brought much needed lightness to the story.
This book is a second chance romance, but its more than that. It really is its own genre of uniqueness. Leigh branched out of her comfort zone in a big way and it worked out very well for her. I look forward to seeing what she has in store for us next!
5 stars!

Michel’s Review
Whenever Emma Scott releases a new book I know I am getting more than a good romance novel, I am getting an emotional experience. Someday Someday goes beyond the struggles of being a gay man in today’s world trying to create a happy life. It’s about excepting oneself, understanding self limitations, and striving to be the best human one can possibly be. It also about the importance of family, whether their impact is negative or positive. It molds a part of who we are and our individual self identities.
Max and Silas are more than gay men struggling to find their happily ever after. They are struggling to rise above self perceptions and become better people. They want to make our world a better place. Together they find the strength through the love for one another.
It’s hard to put into words the beauty of this story. It’s not about one’s sexuality but rather about one’s humanity. The epic love story is just the bonus.
I highly recommend Someday Someday by Emma Scott. It is a beautiful reading experience!
