Excerpt

**from Spark X – the New Adult Version**

Prologue

Asher

I’ve been in love with Ember Rose Edwards for a while, but she doesn’t know it. I can’t tell her, either, not when the battle’s ending solely rests on her making a choice and sacrificing someone she loves. If I were to divulge how I feel, I’d be interfering even more, and I’ve already been banished for entering her life. It’s not something I regret. I made the choice the day I first saw her. I wanted her in my life, regardless of the consequences.

That day feels like such a long time ago, yet it hasn’t been more than a few months. So much has happened since then. So much has changed, for the better and the worse.

God, we were both so different back then.

As I sit beside her bed and watch Ember sleep, my thoughts drift back to the day when I first laid eyes on her…

I was sent to that place to collect a soul, but what I didn’t expect was that I’d end up at a house crammed with a ton of humans, dry humping the shit out of each other. I had instantly wanted to get the hell out.

A rock song plays on the stereo and floats across the room full of people dancing. Beer cans and cups cover the floors, and the air is drenched with the stench of cigarettes. It has been a long week. Michael, the leader of the Angels, has sent me on a total of five missions to collect souls, which is a large amount compared to most Angels. Then again, Michael has never been a fan of me, considering I have Reaper blood.

My sole purpose tonight is to wait until the person dies then collect their soul before the Reapers get ahold of it. I’ve already spotted three Anamotti, and I’m guessing they’re here for the same reason I am—waiting for the person to pass away.

I sense a fight in the air, thick and heavy, like tar.

I lean against the wall near the corner, watching the crowd, drinking a beer, eager for the night to be over. As my gaze travels over each human, I wonder which one of them is the unlucky person who will die tonight. Humans are so fragile, so…

The air suddenly thins and charges with electricity, full of life and death mixed together. My attention drifts to the side of me, my senses sharpening as I zero in on a girl. Ember Rose Edwards. Her name comes to me like a breath of fresh air.

I’ve never met her before, but know her name for solely one reason—she carries Angel blood, just like she carries Reaper blood.

Sadly, I haven’t crossed paths with a Grim Angel in a while, because Reapers are making them a dying breed. Usually, I pass by without so much as a second glance, despite my connection to them. This time, though, I find myself staring. One, two, three songs go by, and I still can’t seem to take my eyes off her.

She’s gorgeous, to say the least. Dark hair flows down her back, skin as pale as snow, full lips as red as a rose, and big, hazel eyes. But her beauty isn’t the only thing that captures my attention. It’s the pain hidden in her eyes, masked beneath her strength.

Her attention is fixed on the throng of dancing people, and she looks as uninterested as I felt until I laid eyes on her. She keeps her distance, too, probably because of her Grim Angel ability to see death with a touch.

I know I should stay away. Let her be. I’ll be breaking a lot of rules if I interfere with her life, but I find myself moving in her direction, drawn to her.

When I reach her, I whisper the first thing that comes to mind. “God, it’s like mating season in here.”

She shudders from the feel of my breath and stumbles forward, stomping on the toe of my boot. As she regains her balance, her gaze whips in my direction and slowly travels from my boots to my shirt then finally rests on my eyes. She swallows hard as our gazes lock, and I realize she is afraid of something.

“Sorry, I didn’t mean to frighten you,” I apologize quickly.

She shivers again then clears her throat. “Sorry about your shoes.” She starts to back away nervously. “Crowded rooms just make me a little uneasy.”

I chuckle, crunching the empty cup in my hand and chucking it into a nearby trashcan. “I know what you mean. All this”—I gesture at the people dry humping one another—“is an excuse for the opposite sex to rub up on one another.”

“That’s a pretty good observation.” She almost smiles, and I feel like I won the lottery or something.

Pressing my lips together, I inch closer and lean over her shoulder. She stiffens from my nearness, probably worried I’ll touch her and force her to see my death. I won’t put her through that, though, so I make sure to leave a sliver of space between us.

“Take those two for instance.” I point at a girl with pink hair dancing with a gangly guy. He moves with a huge lack of coordination, while the girl is graceful, looking bored as hell. “I think they’ve got their own mating ritual going on. Although, I think it might be a one-sided mating ritual.”

She tracks where I’m looking. “I think you’re right.” She turns to me, and for a moment, the pain in her eyes vanishes and pure lust flashes, instead. “It looks like she’s bored.”

My heart thuds deafeningly inside my chest from the look of desire in her eyes directed at me. “Is she a friend of yours?”

She nods, biting her lip contemplatively. “Her name’s Raven.”

I cock my pierced brow. “Like the poem?”

“You know Edgar Allan Poe?” He face lights up with excitement.

Jackpot. The girl has it bad for the dead poet, who I vaguely remember meeting two centuries ago.

“A little bit.” I stare at her beauty, trying to figure out what to do next. I know what my body wants to do with her, and my mind seems to be veering toward the same thing. Regardless, I’d be in a shitload of trouble for touching her. Fuck, even this conversation is going to get me into trouble.

“What’s your name?” I ask, trying to act as normal as I can.

“Ember.” She scoots forward, holding her breath as a girl stumbles by, having a drunken conversation with the air.

“Ember … I like it.” I dare a step or two closer and breathe in the faint scent of her—roses with a hint of lilies. “ ‘And each separate dying ember wrought its ghost upon the floor,’ ” I quote the one line I can remember from Edgar Allan Poe’s “The Raven.”

“I thought you said you knew a little?” she asks me, impressed.

I shrug, stuffing my hands into my pockets. “What can I say? I’m fascinated with the idea … love, death, and the insanity it brings.”

She grows uncomfortable with my mention of death, and her eyes anxiously sweep the crowd as if she’s seeking an escape. I can’t have her leave just yet. I need to keep her here a little longer. I don’t want her to go.

Excerpt

“She sure is hitting that bag hard.”  Ashland Wilder glanced over at River with a questioning look on her face.  They sat in one of the workout rooms at the lodge, watching as Star worked out her frustrations on the bag.  “She looks mad.”

“Yep,” River agreed with her best friend.  “I wish Star would just have sex with Banks and Jansen; maybe that would help her with the anger she’s built up.  It sure helps me when I need to release some stress.”  She snickered, then looked back at her sister pounding the bag.  She was proud of Star.  Her sister had come a long way since the day they met.  She worked out all the time, and she’d started putting on some muscle.  It wasn’t enough to make you stop and stare, unless you were a man.  Her curves were curvier, and her attitude had changed as well.  She liked the way she looked and it showed with her work-out clothes.  When she first met her sister, she wouldn’t have dared to wear skimpy shorts and sports bras, but she did now and she looked great in them.

“For some reason that just makes me laugh.  It’s true, but it’s funny,” Ash giggled.

“Hey, what are you two laughing at?”  Star Johnson stopped punching the bag and looked over at her sister and their friend.

River just waved her sister’s question away and pushed Ash over until they both lay on the floor, laughing until they cried.  Once they started laughing they just couldn’t seem to stop, and the more Star pounded on that bag the louder they got.

Star walked over and just stared at the women.  “What’s so damn funny?”

“Nothing.” River tried getting up, but fell back down on the floor, still giggling.

Star shook her head, walked back over to the bag and started punching it harder.

“Okay, okay.  Please stop.”  Ash took a deep breath and lay flat on her back, trying to calm down.

“Uh Oh.”  Ash snorted.  Both the girls rose up quickly when they heard Banks walk in the room and head straight for Star.  “You need to look at what you’re hitting or you’re going to hurt your hand.”

They both watched as Star stopped hitting the bag and tilted her head sideways at him. “What did you just say?”

River watched as Star’s voice became very calm, which should have scared Banks, but he just continued to stare at her. Then he really messed up and moved in closer, invading Star’s space. Banks Cohen was really a good man, but he was like most Alpha males, very bossy.  When the call went out to all paranormal groups asking for their best to join a specialized unit, Banks was chosen and sent to Freedom, Colorado to be part of it.  He was a six feet, seven inches tall and built like a mountain.  It was like watching a movie play out, where the much smaller female decided to stand her ground and face off with the big bad grizzly bear like she wasn’t scared at all. Unfortunately, this movie was playing out right in front of them. To make matters worse, Banks repeated in a patronizing voice, “If you don’t look at what you’re hitting, you’re going to hurt your hand.”

River shook her head and started to get up to intervene.  She cringed when Star narrowed her eyes at him, her fists balled up at her sides.   Before River could warn him, her sister jumped up and punched Banks in the face.  He fell backwards against the table, blood pouring from his nose.  He shook his head in confusion.

“You mean like that?”  Star bellowed, then quickly walked out of the room.

Ash and River jumped up and hurried over to Banks, who was cussing.  He held his nose as the blood poured between his fingers, splattering over his nice blue shirt and the floor.  River put her hand on his shoulder.  “Are you okay?”

“What the hell is Star’s problem?  I only told her she needed to look at what she was hitting or she’d hurt herself, and then she punched me in the damn nose.”

“Yeah, we saw that.  I guess you could say she was looking at what she was hitting when her fist connected with your nose.”  River nudged Ash, who snickered.

“Sorry, Banks,” River added, but she had to purse her lips so she didn’t smile, or she was going to laugh in his face. The bear shifter looked mad enough already.

When he looked at most people, his intense blue eyes sparkled.  When he looked at Star, everyone could see the sparks that flared up between them.  But Star fought Banks and Jansen at every opportunity.

Excerpt

She turned her face up to his, love emanating on her glowing features. “I can see we will need to compromise then. Unless you plan to tie me up each time you leave.”

Possessiveness shot straight to Thane’s groin at her whispered words. “Oh, I think we could practice tying you up, only we will be with you when you are all tied up and at our mercy.”

“I like how you think, Thane.” Garrick didn’t look away from a kneeling Kira.

Their Fated took each of their hands and placed one on each of her breasts. The erect little nub stabbed into Thane’s palm. He let her control how much pressure he used, knowing she was doing the same with Garrick’s hand. He itched to use his fingers to twist her nipple into an even harder point, but he wanted to see what she did next. She brought first Garrick’s hand up to her mouth, sucking his index finger in between her lips. His best friend’s groan turned to a moan, and then it was his turn for the same treatment. By the time she brought their wet fingers back to her breasts, her shirt was gone. Kira had used her new abilities to not only make her clothes disappear, but Thane was shocked to see he and Garrick were also naked.

She trailed their wet fingers around her nipples, her eyes rolling backward as Thane plucked at the one she’d given him access to. A soft cry escaped her lips when Garrick did the same on the other side.

Thane leaned forward, needing to taste her lips. He strummed his thumb over her nipple one more time, inching down the length of her body with his palm. Little shivers of need arced from her to both him and Garrick. He stroked her lower stomach, watching her eyes dilate, and her muscles quivered beneath his fingers. Tracing an erotic pattern down her mons, he heard her breath catch. Thane inched his hand toward her pussy, stroking down her thigh and back up before delving between the cleft, inserting one finger. “Damn, you’re so fucking wet.” He circled her clit, teasing softly. His head dipped toward her breasts, pausing when Garrick leaned forward and claimed her kiss-swollen lips. His eyes flared with joy and lust.

The easy, teasing movements of his finger over her clit nearly sent her over the edge, but Thane wanted to draw her pleasure out. Her hand moved over his, pulling on his wrists, trying to force his movements faster.

She moaned above him, the sound one of wanton need.

Thane released her breast with a loud pop. “You need to come, kitten?”

“Yes, Thane, please.”

“Please what?” He continued to tease her clit while pumping one finger in and out of her tight, wet pussy.

Her eyes flashed emerald fire. “Don’t forget two, or in this case three, can play that game.” Kira locked eyes with him, licked her lips, and began undulating her hips in an erotic dance that would surely set any man aflame.

A shudder racked Thane’s body. Her hips rolled, and with his fingers on and inside her, he could feel her inner muscles working. He let loose a groan. He added a second finger alongside the first, pumping them in tandem to the flicks of the one teasing her clit.

“Yes! Don’t stop. Please, Thane,” Kira said.

“He’s not going to stop, Neko-Chan,” Garrick said, claiming Kira’s lips in another deep kiss.

Thane shoved the couch away from him, replacing his finger on her clit with his lips and tongue, sucking the bit of flesh into his mouth. His eyes closed to half-mast as her flavor burst in his mouth. Her body shook at the approaching orgasm, but he trusted Garrick to keep their Fated from falling. He lapped at her, slowly thrusting his fingers in and out, and then moved to licking her slit. Another long, slow lick, and he was rewarded with her cry of surprise. She was close to coming. From his estimation, it wouldn’t take much to send her over the edge.

He sucked the bundle of nerves into his mouth once again, letting her feel the edge of his teeth.

“Oh, fuck, Thane. What the hell are you doing to me?”

He rumbled against her flesh, knowing the vibrations would be an added stimulation.

Garrick knelt behind Kira, his dark head bent, nibbling along the side of Kira’s neck. Thane shared with him the way Kira tasted, the way she tightened on his fingers. “Why, Kira, I do believe he’s eating you, love,” Garrick whispered wickedly.

Kira’s moan came out breathlessly. “Oh, alrighty then.”

Thane smiled. Her thighs shook slightly. Looking up, he saw Garrick holding her breasts, playing with her nipples, pinching them into hard peaks once again. His cock was like a steel pole at the sight of his best friend and his Fated enjoying her body.

She was gasping, panting with need, her body shuddering between them. Kira was on the verge of climax, her expression almost pained.

He took mercy on all three of them, sucking on her clit with purpose. Using a small amount of power, he hummed, allowing the vibrations to flow into her entire body. Her inner muscles clamped down on his fingers, and she screamed his name as she came. Her hand flew down to hold him to her, her fingers digging into his scalp, and she continued arching against him.

Kira moaned, whimpered, coming down from such an intense climax, her mind completely open to both he and Garrick. Thane kept up the gentle laps and licks, pulling his fingers out when the final pulses of her pussy stopped. If he didn’t fuck his Fated soon, he was going to explode all over the hotel suite floor. He was so damn hard he hurt, and Garrick didn’t look like he was in any better condition.

When my baby went to school, reading saved my sanity, and then the same year he started school, I was diagnosed with Cancer, again reading saved my sanity. When I recovered and realized how quickly life could change, I made a bucket list. The number one thing was to live. Check. On top of that list was to become a published author. Check. Eight years later I have accomplished that goal and several others.

I live in the Midwest, but I”m a southern girl with only a slight twang who says y’all quite frequently, and am known to say “Bless Your Heart” A LOT. If you know what that means, you do not want to be the one I say that to, lol. I cuss worse than if a trucker and a sailor were put together, but I do it with class *WEG*.

I write what I love to read, erotic romance. My books are definitely full of lots of story, but I leave nothing to the imagination in or out of the bedroom. My hope is that after readers have read one of my stories, they fall in love with the characters as much as I have.

The best part of my new journey is that I get to create new worlds, and have all kinds of stories in my head just waiting to be written. I truly love to hear from readers. You can find me on Twitter, Facebook or my webside, but I’m on Facebook ALL the time, so find me. I’d love to hear from you J

10899986_1537995699804922_570479309709522933_oI was born in Seattle Washington, but soon moved to a small town North of there, which is where I grew up. I’m the oldest of five children, so it was a lively household, and reading became my way to block out the noise. I am an avid reader. I love every genre, but romance and happily ever afters have always been my favorite books. I remember in middle school my biology teacher taking a Rosemary Rogers book away from me; I didn’t understand why—she was certainly teaching me aspects of biology!

As I grew up, I would write stories to entertain myself and my younger siblings. I often wrote their book reports for them. My brothers were only one year apart in age. I wrote a report for the oldest his senior year, he turned it in and got a B+. The next year John turned in the same report to the same teacher and got an A-, the year after that the youngest turned it in to the same teacher and got an A. The teacher liked it better each time he read it!

I’ve worked in corporate America for most of my life, where a lot of creative writing takes place (and if you don’t believe me, you really don’t know corporate America). I blogged to all my employees when I spent six weeks in India—they considered me quite the smartass. My corporate life has allowed me to live in Washington, Texas, Belgium and California.

I have been with the same man for seventeen years. He was born and raised in Texas, and twelve years ago I whisked him, kicking and screaming, to Southern California. Luckily he loves me and wants to be where I am, but he’s still a Texan at heart (although he doesn’t miss Texas summers). I’m a very lucky woman who enjoys swimming, traveling, babysitting her nieces and nephews and doing lots of “research” with her husband for upcoming books.

After being such a fan of romance all my life, I was reading Sophie Oak’s Bliss and Siren in the City series last year, and they weren’t coming out fast enough. I started thinking about a place up in the Northwest, and characters started spinning in my head. Then came Chance. Once he was there, he demanded to be put down on paper. I don’t really write the stories. For real, the stories just come out of my fingers onto the computer screen. Half the time I’m surprised by what ends up being typed!

Michel’s Review

Verum , the second book in the Nocte Trilogy, by Courtney Cole released this week. The moment it went live I had to download it and begin reading it. Nocte, the first book in this trilogy, left readers with so many questions. It left our mind boggled. It left the reader with residual emotions that could not be put into perspective. The desperate anxious feelings have been festering.

The teasers that were put out before the release of Verum had readers theorizing and speculating where the this book would lead. The more readers formulated theories, the more confused I became. Each theory I read seemed credible and valid. They made sense. But… here is the thing… one part or two parts of a story are not a whole. They are building blocks that lead to the eventual outcome. It is a journey that takes many twists and turns. It was meant to engage the readers imagination, stimulate their sense of reasoning, test their patience, and induce every emotional response intended.

Verum takes a completely different direction from the previous book. The setting has changed. The circumstances revolving around the characters have morphed into something more complex. The potential danger and conflict has changed. New characters are introduced. There is a deeper and darker sense of despair. The twists and turns throughout the story have the reader’s mind whirling. Although the overall sense of the story has changed, the original plot is still driving this story. Each time the reader feels they have formulated pieces of the puzzle, the story shakes it up and the pieces fall into a new pattern. In the end, there is a huge revelation that makes this story make sense. This huge revelation is a relief. It also raises more questions.

Verum consumed me. It was a reading experience that left me drained (in a good way). Courtney Cole did an outstanding job with this book. She took the reader hostage, tortured their senses, engaged their minds, and led them on a very gothic journey. She meticulously chose each word to convey this story. Each passage was methodically placed to keep the reader on their toes and searching for clues. The writing was brilliant!

I am look forward to the final book in the Nocte Trilogy. I think the outcome is going to shock the reader to the core. I’m ready!

Robin’s Review

If you have already read Nocte by Courtney Cole, you know exactly what to expect with Verum. Unforeseen plot twists. Clues. Phrases and pieces of sentences which will have you scratching your head. Sentences consisting of nonsensical gibberish. Dreams? Visions? Hallucinations? Or truth?

The Nocte Trilogy is a literary jigsaw puzzle. It’s an intriguing mystery that will challenge your intelligence. Courtney Cole wants you to be confused. And if you are? She has succeeded with what she set out to do. In my case, Cole was successful. After I had finished reading Verum, everything I previously understood about Calla and Dare had been altered. I honestly have no idea what to think! One thing is for certain, I am desperate for the final novel of this trilogy! I cannot wait until the puzzle pieces finally fit together! Lux is expected to be released later in 2015. Courtney Cole has most definitely earned 5 stars and a place on my list of 2015 favorites with Verum!

Burned

Fever Series – Book 7

By Karen Marie Moning

d8082-add-to-goodreads-button3

burned teaserSynopsis

“Mac is back and badder than ever!”—#1 New York Times bestselling author J. R. Ward

MacKayla Lane and Jericho Barrons return in Burned, the latest novel in the blockbuster Fever series from Karen Marie Moning.

It’s easy to walk away from lies. Power is another thing.

MacKayla Lane would do anything to save the home she loves. A gifted sidhe-seer, she’s already fought and defeated the deadly Sinsar Dubh—an ancient book of terrible evil—yet its hold on her has never been stronger.

When the wall that protected humans from the seductive, insatiable Fae was destroyed on Halloween, long-imprisoned immortals ravaged the planet. Now Dublin is a war zone with factions battling for control. As the city heats up and the ice left by the Hoar Frost King melts, tempers flare, passions run red-hot, and dangerous lines get crossed. Seelie and Unseelie vie for power against nine ancient immortals who have governed Dublin for millennia; a rival band of sidhe-seers invades the city, determined to claim it for their own; Mac’s former protégé and best friend, Dani “Mega” O’Malley, is now her fierce enemy; and even more urgent, Highland druid Christian MacKeltar has been captured by the Crimson Hag and is being driven deeper into Unseelie madness with each passing day. The only one Mac can depend on is the powerful, dangerous immortal Jericho Barrons, but even their fiery bond is tested by betrayal.

It’s a world where staying alive is a constant struggle, the line between good and evil is blurred, and every alliance comes at a price. In an epic battle against dark forces, Mac must decide who she can trust, and what her survival is ultimately worth.

Tracey’s Review

The Hoar Frost King has been defeated and the people of Dublin have begun the process of rebuilding their beloved city. But in a city where fae and human co-exist, there is a new normal, and nothing is what it was before.

Two years in the making, the release of BURNED by Karen Marie Moning is finally here, and, oh, my goodness, it is more than worth the wait. Picking up immediately following the action in ICED, this is a read that is everything that fans of the FEVER series could have hoped for and more. Although Karen originally intended to have Dani O’Malley as the focus of the three books written as follow-ups to the original FEVER series, she changed things up with this book. Mac and Barrons, the McKeltars, and the Nine are all a big part of BURNED, and I couldn’t be happier. I started reading and barely put this book down, absolutely enthralled and dying to see what action was going to unfold next. Karen has done an excellent job of answering questions that have had readers anxiously awaiting this next piece of the story (she has, of course, also left us hanging with bated breath for the next part of the saga). Although I had ideas of where these characters and their stories were going, I was surprised at every turn, and in a wonderful way. Seeing all of my favorite characters again, and learning more about them and the secrets that they hold, was absolute magic. I absolutely cannot wait for FEVERBORN and FEVERSONG, the last two books in this fantastic series. Can I recommend this book and series more highly? No. I give BURNED six stars, and put it on the list of my best reads of 2015.

Robin’s Review

Really. If I could give Burned 10 stars, I would. It’s Karen Marie Moning’s best work yet, and I found myself wondering at the complexity and brilliance of her writing. Burned is thoroughly addictive and extremely hard to put down. I laughed and cheered and smiled and cried tears!

There are huge reveals in Burned, including epic moments which pack a punch! I was thrilled to have many of my older questions about the Fever series answered. Since finishing, I have also enjoyed pinpointing Moning’s specialty in the text: subtle clues and foreshadowing which have left me with an abundance of new questions about the characters and a feverish desire to discuss Burned with others. This newest chapter of the Fever series exceeded my hopes and expectations, and before I even finished, I knew Burned would become one of my all-time favorite novels! If you haven’t read the Fever series, I encourage you to pick up a copy of the first novel titled Darkfever!

Ansleigh’s Grotto

Synopsis

Dylan Matthews lives in a world of fantasy. As a video game designer, there are no limits on how far or wide his imagination could stretch. Ansleigh has waited centuries for one man, only to find him and then lose him due to his own inability to trust in their burgeoning love. When the whims of Fate bring his Cosantoir back into his life, does he have the courage to accept his heritage?
As the fantasies in his head become reality and the monsters of nightmares crawl through the forest, can Dylan forgive broken promises to protect the Croi? There is no pause button when the Fae and human worlds collide. Will Dylan have what it takes to master the maze and win Ansleigh’s freedom?

5 star

Lis’ Review

The story of Ansleigh’s Grotto is full of magic, interesting characters, and a beautiful love story. Dylan is a man who seems to have a charmed life… he’s just inherited a wonderful estate, his work for the gaming company is well received and his career is taking off. Yet when he returns to claim his inheritance, he realizes that something.. or rather, someone, is missing from his life but he just can’t quite remember who.. or why.

The meeting with Ansleigh of the title is rather normal..he’s an employee on what is now Dylan’s estate. Just like Silas and Aggie, who work in the house that Dylan now calls home. But we soon learn everyone in this book has a bit of fae magic inside them and that’s where the fantasy world and the real world collide.. in a big way.

The story is short, but the detail is rich and what makes this book so special. JT Cheyanne paints a picture of the estate Dylan inherits with such detail and precision that when the trees begin to talk, and the wind becomes malevolent, it’s so believable because we’ve become immersed in this fae fantasyland. As we read, we see what Dylan sees, feel what he feels, even smell what he smells. We question and wonder right along with him. Just like the video games Dylan designs, we are drawn in with each description, each portrayal of emotion that before we know it, the struggle to regain the love between Dylan and Ansleigh is real. The battles between the Seelie and UnSeelie fae are real. And the antics of the sprites and elves are real.

Dylan and Ansleigh’s love story is sweet yet sexy and powerful. We cheer for them but it’s truly the other fantasy characters that give life to this story. Sprites who are the equivalent of a bickering Tinker Bell and Peter Pan, elves who hide their true identities in the guise of elderly servants, and the Taco Bell godfather voice who advises Dylan to “Live mas” brought humor and depth to the whole fantasy becomes reality story. The evil UnSeelie is just as well developed. Like the fae of myth, he is handsome to look upon, but rotten and deadly underneath. The author’s research of the Irish legends is detailed and believable, and she brings some of the more interesting creatures to life in this book.

Deep down, this is a love story that touches on themes we are all familiar with. Is the bond of love strong enough to overcome past mistakes? Is a newfound love worth fighting for? Is the realization that no matter what the obstacles thrown in the path, two people who love each other with all their hearts and souls will ultimately triumph in their desire and intent to be together? Both Dylan and Ansleigh struggle with these questions and ultimately discover that despite the paths they have traveled separately, despite what they thought they knew, coming together again brings answers to questions that can and do make their history complete. JT Cheyanne has created another winning love story that you don’t want to miss.

Excerpt

My heart raced at the thought of finally finding her—the woman who was destined to be my mate. My brothers liked to tease me about being a bit of a white
knight because I had a habit of helping women who were in distress, but I couldn’t stop myself from doing it. Ever since our grandmother had told me that
my mate would have been discarded by her family, I’d struggled with the knowledge that she could be out there somewhere, desperately in need of help,
without my being able to give it to her. So I’d compensated by aiding other women in the hope that someone else would be there for my mate when I couldn’t
be. If Eliza’s dream was right, then I might not have to wait much longer.

“When?” I rasped out. “Were there any signs pointing to when she would be here?”

“I can’t be sure,” Eliza said with a look of apology on her face. “But I feel like it might be this winter.”

“Thank fuck,” I whispered, a huge wave of relief rolling through me.
