Charles Sheehan-Miles is one of the most talented authors I have had the pleasure to read. His writing is brilliant. He delivers a book that has all the elements readers want in a book. His books are very well plotted with sub plots that merge into the master plot. These sub plots give the book more depth and add to the pacing of the book. He adds suspense, intrigue, high octane action, and emotional characters. His characters are complex people with multiple layers to their personalities. Charles adds the emotional elements that bring these characters and their stories to life. Most importantly he shows the high value of love and the importance of family.

The Rachel Peril series has been a phenomenal series from the beginning. The Thompson sisters and their families are the main characters in this series. Each sister has her own story, her own dilemmas and life issues. The sisters are brought together through baby Rachel, who’s health is failing. What starts as finding a marrow donor for baby Rachel turns into a life threatening situation for all the Thompson sisters. Someone is out to destroy the Thompson family and end their lives. As the danger escalates and each sister escapes death by the skin of their teeth, the mystery seems to get deeper and deeper. Who would want to kill them?

As the story unfolds, deep hidden family secrets will surface. As the secrets begin to unravel the element of danger escalates. Multiple villains will get into the action. There will be several players after this family for very different reasons that stem from one hideous moment in Richard Thompson’s career.

The Rachel’s Peril series has many key players that are centered around Richard Thompson’s earlier career in the CIA. There will be several government agencies investigating the Thompson family. The will be several government agencies, national and international that will be trying to protect their secrets. Richard Thompson will do anything to protect his career and secrets, even at the cost of his own family.

This series kept me engaged. Between the suspense and intrigue, my mind was spinning. As the Thompson family secrets are revealed, my heart was breaking. Each time the Thompson women fought back, I was celebrating their strength. My heart broke for these women as the sins of the past finally come to the surface. But what impressed me the most about this series is the dedication, love, and strength the Thompson sisters possessed. Family meant everything and they leaned on each other to survive.

I highly recommend the Rachel’s Peril series. It will not disappoint.

I grabbed a plastic cup and filled it with vodka. Adrenalin. I continually experienced anxiety and a racing heartbeat while reading Monster in His Eyes. There is more intensity packed within the pages of this novel than with any other novel read in recent memory. It became impossible for me to put this novel down, especially as I began to develop theories and as details of the plot were peeled back. As I write this review, I continue to feel the after effects of reading this story. Fans of the novels Sempre and Sempre: Redemption won’t want to miss reading the newest novel written by JM Darhower. Monster in His Eyes is not a young adult novel. It is a romantic suspense novel with dark themes, and it very much delves into the genre of erotic romance.

Karissa Reed is an eighteen year-old college student. Raised by a mother plagued by extreme paranoia, she was constantly moved from town to town during her childhood and teen years. She seems to be a typical college student who enjoys having fun, but also struggles to maintain her scholarship at NYU. The problem is that her philosophy professor, Daniel Santino, seems to have it out for her. She becomes so flustered with his blatant open disregard for her, that she accidentally leaves her phone in his classroom. When she returns to the class to claim her phone, she draws the attention of the dark and alluring Ignazio Vitale who is paying a visit to her professor. In fact, twice on that same day, she runs into Naz. From the beginning, thirty-six year-old Naz wastes no time inserting himself into Karissa’s life.

I am not going to lie. I was completely creeped out after reading the prologue and first couple of chapters of Monster in His Eyes. Darhower wasted no time in setting the tone of suspense and drama in this story. Karissa is young and naïve, half of his age. Her father disappeared from the picture before she was even born, and her mother takes overprotective to a whole new level (which were both red flags, in my opinion). Naz is a hurricane force she is unable to resist – he pulls Karissa into a sexy, powerful and intense physical relationship. She mentions the term “wrecking ball” in her inner dialogue to describe Naz. He has a darkness to him that actually causes me to fear for her safety.

I loved this novel! I completely bonded with these characters – it is probably the reason why this novel frightened me so much. I have no idea how I am going to be able to wait for the second and final novel of this duology, Torture in Her Soul, which is planned for release later this year. I applaud the author for her creative ability and planning in writing this suspenseful, mysterious story. I want to express my appreciation to JM Darhower for the opportunity to review an advanced reader copy of this novel. I am so excited to give Monster in His Eyes the 5-star rating that it truly deserves!

Michel’s Review

JJ Knight has done again. She is the master of writing serial romance. Her gift with creating charismatic characters, sexual tension, escalating suspense, and the chilling cliffhanger in each installment amazes me. She quickly concludes the cliffhanger from the previous book with a satisfying resolution that does not feel rushed or insignificant. She then starts building the suspense and moves the story along with great ease. By the end of the book you’ve got another cliffhanger that has your emotions in turmoil and wondering what is going to happen next. Each book is unpredictable. Her characters capture your attention and the romance is hot!

We were left questioning Dylan’s actions while Jess is away on business in Rome. We were left feeling quite pissed off at the man and wondering how JJ Knight could redeem his infractions. We were feeling the emotional trauma that Jess was feeling. JJ Knight jumped right in and gave us the Jess we know and love. She is a strong, take charge kind of woman that sees both sides of the coin. She’s not one to sit around whining and moping. She is smart enough to use reasoning before reaching a final conclusion. She has enough trust in their love to not over react. That is what I love most about her.

So the media has been having a field day with Dylan since Jess has been gone. She’s questioning his faithfulness. Although Dylan has been unreachable since the pictures hit the internet she is trying hard not to jump to conclusions. When Dylan finally shows up in Rome they are able to resolve some of the media issues. What should of been a romantic weekend in Rome turns sour when the media exposes pictures of Jess while she is in Rome. Dylan reacts badly and disappears. It appears that this couple is heading for a huge break up.

Once Jess returns home to the United States she is determined to get to the bottom of Dylan’s disappearance and the latest media scandal. What she uncovers is shocking. Her and Dylan’s relationship is being destroyed by some new unknown players in the game of L.A. fame. Not only is their relationship down in the dumps, it looks like Dylan’s career is going along with it. Will Jess discover who is behind the destruction? Will she find Dylan before it’s too late. Is their relationship beyond repair? Read Blue Shoes Vol. 2. You are in for quite a few surprises!

I highly recommend this serial. There are only three books in this serial. We won’t have to wait too long for the next installment in the series.

He didn’t need to be told twice. In seconds he was standing to his full impressive height and towed me up along with him. Adam released my hand and cupped my face. The anticipation of his lips on mine was almost my undoing. Everything going on inside me head floated away. I became aware of the moment, of the quietness in the room, of the way my body swayed wanting to get closer.

Adam’s lips brushed over mine, a gentle caress, once, twice and then a third time. He lifted his head just slightly and stared down at me, his thumb climbed up and caressed my lower lip.

Cambria Hebert has added another fantastic book to the new adult romantic suspense Take It Off series. Each book in this series can be read as a stand alone book and does not have to be read in order. Each book features a different couple, different circumstances, suspenseful plots, and red hot romance. The Take It Off series is one of my favorite series. I am always one clicking Cambria’s books the moment they go live. Cambria always delivers a fantastic book.

We met the main characters from Trashy in the previous book Tease (book 2 in Take It Off Series). They were such strong secondary characters. They demanded their own book. Now eight books later, Roxie and Adam have their story told.

Roxie is the star stripper in Adam’s club. He has been fascinated with Roxie since she began to work for him a few years earlier. Unfortunately he was always in a relationship or married . He has a rule, never date his dancers, never mix business with pleasure, and he never cheats. He runs a clean business and keeps his girls safe. He shows them the respect they deserve. He is a fair and giving boss. He wants to give Roxie more but circumstances never allowed him to act upon it. When an incident happens and Roxie is attacked in her apartment ( Tease-book 2) it comes to light that Roxie had been living in an abusive relationship. Her ex is a dangerous man and has hurt her before. This incident makes Adam realize that he has to take some steps forward and make Roxie his. He proceeds forward with a divorce from his fourth wife, plans to open a new club, and promote Roxie to manager so she no longer has to dance. He is going to make her his no matter what.

Roxie may seem wordly because she is a stripper. That is the exact opposite of the woman she really is. She has only been with one man and that relationship proved to be life threatening. It took her years to free herself from the abusive relationship. She is finally free and living with her friend and fellow worker Harlow. After she is attacked in their apartment, it makes her realize that she will always have to look over her shoulder. Her ex has made it clear that he is not finished with her. Adam wants to protect her. Adam wants to love her. Adam wants her to have a better life. She wants the same things. She is fearful that her past is going to ruin her future. She is clearly right.

Adam and Roxie will face life threatening danger. Together they will stay strong. Hopefully they will be able to put the past where it belongs and move forward in life together.

I loved Trashy. It had a strong message about domestic abuse. Domestic abuse can begin a young age, when love looks pure and beautiful. As teenagers they don’t often recognize it as abuse. They are more in tune with their personal insecurities and ideas of perfect love. To a teen the control can look like unconditional love. Many women get into abusive relationships this way. When they finally want to get out it’s not easy. They’ve never experienced what a mature,strong, united, and giving relationship is. They’ve lost their own self worth. Roxie was that girl. She was strong enough to recognize the destruction in her life. She was smart enough to get out. She was brave enough to let Adam love her. She was strong enough to become the woman she was meant to be.

I highly recommend Trashy. Although the subject matter is heavy, Cambria wrote an entertaining story filled with passion, romance, compassion, and bravery.
